Have been meaning to try this little place for so long. Located right across the street from my nail salon, I have seen it for the past year+. Last night we went with our friends for an early casual dinner. What a great find! It's a tiny place but plenty of tables to eat in plus they do a good take out and delivery business. Nothing fancy, very basic but the food is excellent and the service is fantastic. They have different sizes of pizzas which I loved. I had the 8" personal pan BBQ chicken. Crust is thin and delicious, toppings were fresh. Hubby had the same size but a different kind and loved it. One of our friends is not a pizza guy so much so he had the meatball sandwich and ate every crumb! He said it was messy and delicious! My girlfriend had the 8" margherita and loved it. The owner took care of us, was super nice and also told me how he makes the sauces himself. We will definitely be back (especially after I get my nails done ). Hungry for pizza? My first time here, although I've tried most of the restaurants on this block. Ambiance: It's a cozy little place with a few tables downstairs and more seating in a back area upstairs. The high ceilings make it feel open and spacious. Service: The staff/owner was very friendly. He greeted us while we looked over the menu. He could tell we were first-timers and made some recommendations about their homemade specialties. Ordering is easy at the counter for dine-in or to-go. We paid and grabbed a seat. They brought the food out to us after about 10 minutes--nice and hot--on their cool metal plates. Food: We decided on the full-size pizza, which is a better value than a personal if you plan to share (8 slices, 1 lb of cheese). We did half combo and half pesto chicken. First let's talk service. Parking was ridiculous so I dropped off my mom and husband while I found parking. As soon as they walked in, the owner grabbed my mom a chair while she waited for a downstairs table to open up. They gave extra attention to my mom who had limited mobility. I really appreciate that level of service. I'd not common. We drove up here from SJ. Wanted a drive and I gave my husband the task of finding a place that met mom's pizza requirements- thin, crispy. These mom n pops owned types of food spots are the hole in the wall must try's! I was in the area with a group of 6 and wanted pizza. I whooped out the map and checked pizza spots. I came to PJ's. The place is on a busy street with many other stores n restaurants. It was a bit narrow but was able to accommodate our party. The gentleman running the counter greeted us kindly and sat us and gave us any recommendations on food choices. We definitely were new to the place. We placed an order for large pizza half meat & combo and additional pepperoni for the kids. Come to find out the gentleman at the counter was the owner. He was very friendly and respectful person. He even accomodatted us by putting our request on the television. We also had a conversation on his business and it's root. Very interesting story! ‍ Regarding the food it was an "A"! There was not too much bread which I don't particularly like and there were generous portions of toppings. A lot of toppings and slightly crisp under the slice. Delicious! We love this cozy little family-run pizza shop with high-quality ingredients and friendly service! I'm a born-and-raised New Yorker and am admittedly snobby about my pizzas. This place passed my bar by far! Their fresh ingredients don't leave me feeling oily and bloated like other pizzas do. Pretty decent thin crust pizza. The sauce and cheese could both be better, but the thin crust is pretty light and airy.

They used to be called Velo City Pizza, but we came in and they told us they're changing their name into PJ's so here we are! The owners are really kind and hospitable. They love their business and they surely love the customers. They explained to us their best sellers and how they made their own ricotta recipe for the lamb pizza. It's a small restaurant nearby our house, so they don't have a lot of seats available but it's cozy and comfortable place to visit. They sell a bunch of gelato on sticks and I would say that tastes a little old.. but their pizza are very tasty and we'll be back again for them! read more

I ordered a large pizza around lunchtime. The owner said the pizza would be ready in 20 mins. When I arrived there were no customers in the store. Unfortunately he had totally forgot to pass the order to the employees to make the pizza. I had to wait another 15 minutes for the pizza to be made as staff made it painfully slow. The shop itself has a nice ambiance with seating upstairs also. The pizza was very average and had very little red sauce. I usually will eat a good amount when eating pizza. However, I only ate two smaller slices and the taste didn't really satisfy my pizza craving. I would say taste was a solid 2.75. The large pizza was $38 before tax (pretty pricey) and the touch screen was extremely sensitive and I accidentally selected the incorrect tip amount. read more

After looking at the pics online, I decided to go with a customized calzone. I went with pesto, chicken and jalapeños with their fresh mozzarella. Gentlemen on the phone quoted me 20-30 minutes, and it was completed on time as promised. I really enjoyed the taste of the dough and the mozzarella. It was easy to tell that The mozzarella fresh bc it had a very particular flavor profile that I absolutely loved. IMO, The amount of toppings inside was light and I should have gone for double the cheese and double the meats bc I was still hungry afterwards. I really hate to give one star reviews especially during a pandemic but this pizza was sooooo bad that all four of us were in agreement. Ordered a large split combo and pepperoni and sausage and immediately when we got home we just noticed how off everything looked. You know the cans of tomato soup that you but from the store? That runny consistency...well that was this sauce. It just got worst from there. The ingredients tasted absolutely horrible. I swear it was the worst sausage and pepperoni we've ever had. Worst than frozen pizza and the crust tasted like the box it came in. Hard and chewy and completely flavorless. None of us ended up eating another slice and it was a waste of money all around. We all come from different backgrounds...one of my friends is a college student and even he said the college campus food was better than this. Anyway, we usually order 16" pizzas - 2 of them for 4 people with cold leftovers for breakfast yum yum - This time we ordered individual pizzas because we couldn't agree on toppings. It's hard because I love pineapple on pizza lol. We all thought the pizza was fine, but all agreed that the 16" pizzas were better due to their topping to crust ratio, something we should have considered. - and the density of toppings on the smaller pizzas was similar to the density at the edges of the big pizzas. It seemed as if big gatherings and events was a regular reoccurrence here. It was an empty shop when we arrived, which was wonderful as we didn't have to inconvenience other guest. We entered and the owner, I believe, was the sweetest and most attentive person ever!! He introduced us to the menu and even gave us suggestions on how to effectively order for our big party. The food all came out in a timely manner and fairly fast for how many people we had ordered. Our time there was wonderful as we were even able to celebrate a birthday upstairs for our coach. The pizza/food itself was pretty epic and feasible, but regardless we had a lot of starving people ready to devour whatever! The crust was thin and crispyy and made very well hearing about their ingredients. They even baked it in a dome oven which you don't see to often. The taste of the pizza here is spectacular. I love that they use mozarella cheese, since it's my favorite. They also use top quality ingredients, the salami and jalapenos were especially flavorful and perfectly spiced, better than most other places (I created a custom pizza and chose my own toppings). By the way, they are the only pizza place I know that only charges half price for an extra topping if you only add to one half of the pizza, so that's a plus. That being said, the amount of toppings on their pizza is lacking compared to other places I've been, which was a surprise with the prices they charge. Still I felt that it was fitting for the brick oven style they offer, thin crust that lightly bubbles toward to edges, slightly blackened but not burned, the taste of the olive oil adding to the flavor, and a crispy base providing a unique texture that holds together well even for the giant slices on the 16-inch. Because it's cooked in a brick oven, it cooks really quickly, and I was quoted a 15 minute wait when I ordered online on a Friday evening. I appreciated them calling me to let me know my order was ready to be picked up (since I was running 15 minutes late). Their service was friendly and efficient at the pick-up window/door, and all workers were properly wearing masks. I didn't like that they gave Hidden Valley ranch on the side... not a fan of that brand and I don't think it's worth an extra cost. But overall, I was happy with my experience. Love the family dynamic and what PJ's does for the community. The pizza itself and the sides were not for us. To us - the pizza has a subtle taste; almost bland. We were newbies to PJ's and wanted to try a new pizza and a side dish. We ordered a large half + half pizza and a side wings. The pie had very little cheese presence and the sauce did not give "pizza sauce". It was less herbs and more of a basic tomato sauce... not a pizza sauce. The wings/drummies were lukewarm (almost cold), as well as very dry. The wings came with a side of sauce but, did not assist in making them taste ANY better. We chose 'buffalo sauce' but it tasted more like a mild generic 'hot sauce'. So we ate the wings plain. We ordered a large half Lamb, red onion, ricotta, bell pepper, sun dried tomatoes and half the chicken, artichoke, pesto. First, where can you get Australian lamb on a pizza? Your hard pressed to find it in Australia. It should be done more! The marriage of the Mozzarella, lamb, ricotta and veggies is just DEVINE! Then there is the other half! We got it as it came without the red sauce. Yummo! This pizza is delicious such a fabulous mix of flavors. It was hard to choose a favorite! Definitely my favorite part of the pizza. Great meat coverage and distribution across the pie. The meats themselves were above average quality, well seasoned and carried their weight in the flavor department. The cheese and red-sauce seemed middle of the road. Not terrible, but not particularly memorable either. Overall an above average meat pizza. You won't be mad about it. (6.2/10) Half chicken artichoke pesto: Huge chunks of chicken and artichoke throughout. The pesto is a great change up for your standard red-sauce pepperoni. Overall the mild cheese and chicken lacked the final punch I was looking for. Adding in your own Siracha or mild hot sauce brought it to the next level. Before I get into the food at Velo City, it's worth mentioning the cleverness behind the theme of the restaurant. True to its name, the setting inside is decorated with bicycle paraphernalia, including stools with pedals and chains, and even the menu is printed out in a circle (which happens to be the same size as their 7 inch personal pizzas)! As far as I can tell, there isn't a whole lot about the bicycle-theme of this restaurant that gives it away as a pizza place (besides the fact that the shape of wheels = the shape of the pies), but no matter! Velo City is a labor of love--they make brick-oven pizzas with artisanal toppings, including housemade mozzarella, sausage, and tomato sauce! Now that's really something special. There are a number of preset combinations, and we got a large (16 inch) with half lamb, ricotta, red onions, bell peppers, sun-dried tomatoes; and half chicken, artichoke, pesto, and red sauce. Both of these were tasty--the crunch of the bell pepper and red onion went nicely with the herbed, crumbly ricotta, the gooey melted mozzarella, and the lamb slices, which were rather subtle in flavor. The chicken, artichoke, and pesto was nice as well, though I'd recommend not getting it with the red sauce, as it overpowered the subtle flavors of the pesto. The crust was definitely fascinating--it was puffy, chewy, and almost had two layers, but wasn't quite thin enough for me to classify as "thin-crust"! Overall, this was a great simple-looking pizza place that definitely has lots of love and care put into its ingredients and service.
