Since the topping error was acceptable to my sister, Bella said I'll box it up and let her take it home instead of waiting it by throwing it out. When in Detroit you must go to buddy's for the home of the Detroit style pizza. Richelle, my sister, and I got 4 square pizza. Detroiter, BBQ Conant, and Margarita all were fantastic, in original crust. We ordered the wings and veggie sampler, really really good. Top notch wings, they could change the name to Buddy's pizza n wings for their 80th birthday. The breaded and fried veggies are among the best I have ever had, love the extra crunchy crumbles in the basket. Ranch, bbq, and siracha sauce was trying and enjoyed. Wanting to try Detroit-style pizza while visiting Detroit, we came across Buddy's Pizza since it was close to where we were staying. The kids were in the mood for something different, so we decided to do carryout. When we walked in to order, the inside immediately caught my eye. There's a large bar area, cool signage, and a laid-back vibe. It wasn't overly busy, and we were directed by the host stand where carryout orders are placed. After checking out the menu, we went with the "Detroiter." The wait was about 20 minutes, which wasn't bad, but for a 4-square pizza at around $18, it did feel a bit pricey. The pizza itself was just okay for me. I was honestly expecting more, especially since Detroit-style pizza is so hyped. It wasn't bad, just didn't quite live up to my expectations. Dined in here today and unfortunately it was a 3-star experience, although the pizza is always 5/5 from me. We were meeting some friends. It was very hot out today, like 90 degrees, and when we walked into the restaurant it felt like they didn't have the AC on at all - I'm not sure if they were having issues or what. I used the bathroom a few times during our visit and the bathroom area was even hotter than the main restaurant, too. My husband and I split an 8-square Conant pizza, aka their BBQ chicken one. It was good but we were a bit disappointed they didn't have the Slows BBQ chicken pizza they've had before in the summers. Not sure if they'll be doing that this summer or not. I had a $10 off $50 coupon and when we got our bills (split - ours plus our friends paid for their own food), only 10% had been taken off. Our friends said they got about $5 off theirs, and we had $2.80 or so off ours, so we decided not to bring the issue up, but it was disappointing. I no longer live in the Troy area so we'll probably continue doing takeout from Farmington Hills, after this experience. We used to frequent this Buddy's a few times a week but not for the food but actually the service. See the food like many restaurants has gotten worse and the price has only gone up. One example is the kids meals. Same food but nearly TWICE the price! What kept us coming back was the service of Stephanie the bartender. She is a backbone of this location but something else has changed recently. The new coffee shop next door has opened which has led to parking issues, trash everywhere and a how do we say a change in the neighborhood. These new issues coupled with the food quality and price issues are things not even Stephanie can fix and the reason we and many others won't be back. RIP Buddy's Troy, it was good while it lasted. I had always ordered in from this place but this time we were able to dine in. For what my bf will put it as is buddy's pizza is the best in Detroit with all the pizza chains around. I only wish they had more variety of desserts and also the bar options too. Service was great as well when we dined in, and it wasn't too noisy which is perfect for me. Ordered a pizza online. Pizza was hot and ready right when I got there. Friendly service. This was my first time trying Detroit-style pizza and was not disappointed! Perfect crunchy crust, delicious cheese and sauce, loved the old world pepperoni topping. Sort of reminded me of a high-end version of rectangular school-lunch pizza, in a good way. I ordered the Detroit Public Television, 4 squares. It was really tasty, but I felt like the pepperoni under the cheese didn't add anything. I really liked the old world pepperoni on top, so I'll probably try to Detroiter next time. I thought I'd only eat 2 squares, but I ended up eating 3 because it was so tasty. 7/2/23 We initially went to another Buddy's Pizza (not sure where exactly since I'm not familiar with the area), but the wait time there was an hour so we went to another Buddy's location in Troy. Following my review from The Henry Ford Museum, it was rainy all day and just like at the museum, it seemed like EVERYONE wanted to go to Buddy's. I thought "Wow, this pizza place must be good if a lot of people are coming here".... When we got to the second Buddy's location, there was a shorter wait of about 15 minutes. Compared to an hour, 15 minutes wasn't too bad, but we had to wait that long for a table because they were short-staffed. Large sections of the restaurant were vacant as they were trying to keep most of the patrons in one section. Here's what we ordered to share: - Antipesto - Spicy Italian (8 square) pizza - Greek town (4 square) pizza - Wings (mostly Zach) We waited about another 15 minutes for everything to come. The salad came first which looked very sad and unappetizing. The wings were teeny tiny with barely any meat on them. Buddy's is one of those staples here in Detroit. They've got Detroit-style pizza that rivals many other local spots. I've only ever had Jets pizza and I'm fine with it, but wanted to try other local shops. We ordered online, then came for pickup. We got 8 slices to share of the pepperoni pizza. It's very delicious! You can really taste that they made the sauce themselves. The crust was nice as well. Not as greasy as Jet's. The cheese also tasted like a mixture. It's also Wisconsin cheese! So first time trying this place. I got a coupon for free pizza with purchase so I placed an order online which was very easy and the girl was very nice. It's nice that they have a separate entrance for pickup orders, it makes things so much easier. My pizza was waiting for me in the warmer so it was nice and hot when I got it. Huge big tumbs up for having vegan cheese available. I usually order Jets when I crave deep dish pizza but they don't have any vegan cheese. The downside is that Jets is much cheaper than Buddy's. Small pizza is like half the price when they have promo. I had their Eastern Market Veggie with vegan cheese (at no extra cost) and hubby got classic pepperoni. We really enjoyed them. The Greek salad was good, dressing is good here. Lettuce is not all so green, some red Romaine veins. The veggie pizza isn't too bad. I didn't get my yellow pepper instead of the tomato, just no tomatoes is all. The garlic, spinach and chicken at least made in my pizza. Helped with making recommendations and answering our questions. We shared wings, the Sicilian deep dish pizza, the antipasto salad -- more than enough for the 4 of us! We are visiting from SoCal for a wedding and took up the bride'a recommendation to try Buddy's Pizza. If you are visiting Detroit, it is important to try the Detroit Pizza. It is deep fried and square shaped as you can see. We ended up sharing the 8 piece between the three of us, and it was definitely enough food. It reminds me of the Chicago pizza but lighter. The crust reminds me of French bread, which is charred and crispy. We ended up customizing half and half. One half was the BBQ Conant which consisted of chicken, red onions and cilantro, and the other side was the Detroiter which I believe is their version of their pepperoni style pizza. I really enjoyed the seasoning of the BBQ combat, and the layering of the pepperoni pizza. read more

This location just opened October 26th, so it's still working out the kinks; we used the app to order our dinner on Friday, and although the app said our order would be ready at 6pm, we received a call from the manager, after my husband left to pick it up, saying they were slammed and the food wouldn't be ready until 6:45pm. My husband said the restaurant had a huge line for pickup, and the staff were doing the best they could. We get it; new location working things out, and lots of excitement; we weren't upset. This location is newer, and opened a while ago, and I've been slow about getting my butt in here to try it out. I love Buddy's Pizza, and I wanted to eat here for my birthday. My mom and I walked in on a Sunday afternoon and were seated immediately. What I initially loved about this location was few things. For starters, it has a more casual feel to it compared to other Buddy's locations. Not that the rest are more formal, but this one felt more relaxed, which we loved right off the bat. Secondly, the décor was so cute! There was records on the wall, ton's of space throughout so it didn't feel like we were sitting on top of each other, and good music playing over head. The menu was a traditional Buddy's menu, and my mom and I usually get the same thing. A large 8 square pizza with a Greek salad. Our server took this order and was super cool and friendly. What I also noticed while we were waiting was they now have lunch specials here? For $9.49 you can get a few (three) different options which we thought was super cool. Our food came out and drinks were refilled. We also had a 10% off Yelp check in discount which the server honored after we showed her our coupon. I like that they don't throw attitude here when you do present a coupon. Some places get major attitude about it and make a stink about this stuff. Not here, thank goodness. Overall, this is a fabulous location and even though it's a bit out of the way for my mom and I, we do go shopping on this side of town sporadically. I'm giving this a low rating based on the one specific experience I had. I want to emphasize that those who dine in the restaurant would probably have an entirely different experience. I was staying at a nearby hotel and didn't have a vehicle. I wanted to try Detroit style pizza. I should have taken an Uber and just gone to the restaurant but didn't for reasons not relevant to this review. That was my first mistake. I called the restaurant and was told they themselves don't deliver but I could order online and Uber Eats would deliver it. Ok. I ordered a 4-square Super 6 Mile, which is essentially a supreme. That was my second mistake. The pizza took almost an hour to get to me from the time I ordered to the time I got it. It was TINY. I looked at the box when the driver handed it to me and was quite literally in disbelief and thought it was a mistake. It wasn't. And for this tiny, slowly delivered pizza, I got to pay almost $35. So please, do not order pizza from Buddy's via delivery unless you want to wait a long time and pay way too much money for it. And please know what you're ordering before you order it. That last one was my bad, but still. A tiny mini pizza for $13.49 plus $3.00 extra for the two toppings? And a huge delivery charge? Big nope. Pop for the Uber. read more
