They offer different prices to Arabic-speaking customers, which is confusing because they don't follow a set price list. One person there was talking about politics, religion, and other topics, which was really annoying because he was also trying to be funny. He mentioned he was from Syria. I was there to get a haircut, not to make friends. The atmosphere felt strange, and I felt like I was being scammed when they insisted on using cash only and asked me to withdraw money using the machine they have in the store, telling me how much to withdraw. Amidine advertises 25 dollar haircuts. But keep in mind if you get a fade and a beard trim the haircut is 45 dollars. They barely know how to fade the hair as my haircut was barely faded. Also they charged me for a beard lineup but they didn't even use a straight razor to line up the beard. There were stray hairs all over my beard after this. I wouldn't mind paying 25 dollars for this haircut. But at a price point of 45 dollars there are much better options out here. If you want a fade please do not go here read more

This place is hit or miss. Sometimes they do a good job and sometimes they do a subpar job. They usually have several barbers working, but today I walked in and only the female and one guy (I'm assuming it's Amidine) were working. Well, the female was working. The other guy was gossiping with another guy at the counter. I sat around for 10 mins and the guy completely ignored me. I walked out and started looking for another barber shop in the area. I found a spot a few blocks away, so I decided to go there. As I was backing up, the guy runs out behind my car and taps on my window. He asked if I was there for a haircut. I told him I WAS there for a haircut (why on earth would I have walked in and sat around for 10 mins). I told him I left because he wasted my time talking to the other guy. He said the guy was there to measure his countertop. I told him that's great yet he could have said something instead of continuing to talk to him and finally running out when I'm trying to leave. If he would have simply said "I'll be with you in a few minutes," or something, that would have been fine. Instead, he completely ignored me like I wasn't there, and I was the only person in the shop besides the female barber and her customer. I don't appreciate my time being wasted, so I won't be going back. Plus the other barber shop that I found was cheaper and they did a better job on my hair. read more

Omar Amidine is one of the nicest people you will ever talk to. I came here for highlights a couple weeks ago and he did such a fabulous job and charged me a very reasonable price for the little work that I had done. There's very nice sitting areas for you to wait until it's your turn in the chair. Dennis is really good at threading your brows, and he's really funny too. That's something that I think it's very important with places like this. I really enjoy when I'm able to have a wonderful, humorous conversation with someone whom I'm spending the next 35-60 minutes with - in close contact. So, if you're looking for something along the lines of that, then this is definitely the place to go! Parking isn't bad, there's usually a spot available right in front of the place. If there isn't, I'm sure you won't find it difficult to park a couple or just maybe perhaps a few spots away. read more

Another $8 haircut joint for people in Clairemont! As you can probably tell, I like cheap haircuts. I dont understand when men pay over $20--lets all be low maintenance, people! This place is conveniently located next to a Laundromat and a Starbucks...and a dentist. The former two are more important than the latter. I like; I like! Pros: - $8 for a quality (male) haircut. - There's a couple women and a bunch of male barbers. I liked Alex because of the degree of haircut precision he has. - Saturday afternoon and no real line. I hope it's always like this! - I'd rather come here than Happy Barber...any day. Cons: - The degree of sanitation of the scissors and combs is...quite unknown. I'd actually not ask these questions. I have been going to this great local barber shop in Clairemont for a couple of years now, and I am very happy with the service and prices . As Clairemont has changed from an old-fashioned white Anglo-Saxon middle classed neighborhood, to a upcoming traditional multinational ethnically and socioeconomically diverse community, with communities of Hispanic, Middle Eastern, South Asian and Pacific Islanders. Amidine fits in well to our community , located in a small mall on Balboa Avenue (Just East of Clairemont Mesa Blvd) next to a Laundromat just east of the Large Starbucks Café and drive-thru on the corner . The shop has several certified male barbers and a female cosmetologist, who has the special skills for longer women's hair and is Bilingual in English and Spanish. The manager in Omar a Lebanese Barber especially good with young kids and younger men's hair , with similar skills are Mike (Momo) Iraqi , Nick (Nishwan) Iraqi and Tariq Syrian all skilled at the latest young men's and women's (short hair) fashions , and can layer , do special razor cuts and patterns and also trim and shape beards and mustaches and do full service straight edge razor shaves . There are also a few Anglo Barbers - one older man from the South who is popular with older military and retired men, and a couple younger experienced San Diego natives who are general all around Barbers. As was mentioned one signs in when one walks in, and one can ask approximate time and go to Starbucks to get a Café. When I went recently as they opened at 9AM and I was doing several loads of Laundry, thus I put my name on the list (with my barber's name Nick saying I was right next door at the fluff and fold ) so when he came in at 10AM he came next door to find me and I came over around 10:15 and was seated at 10:30 for an hour to have my hair cut, beard and mustache cut and then a full shave for $26 plus tip . read more

Went here for a straight razor shave and thought the price was good at $16. It was an older man that gave me the shave and he was very rough and missed a number of areas on my face and neck. To make matters worse, he left me with a large cut on my left cheek and put after shave which really stung. The haircuts are probably ok but DO NOT GET A SHAVE HERE. Dennis is the only Barber I see these days. It is hard to find a good barber and when you do, just stick with him. he takes his time, he holds you place in line even if you go to Starbucks for a coffee. His style is very meticulus and will correct any errors he made during a haircut. I've been to a few others at this place before Dennis, they all did a great job. My only problem is the language barrier. I don't have that with Dennis at all. He spends 30-45 minutes per client so expect a wait. When the lobby chairs are full most likely its due to the long waiting list. The only think I don't like about this place is they do not close the doors when the smokers are outside... I've been coming here since they opened on October 2013. After receiving many successful haircuts (14 - roughly 2 a month) I've decided to give them a 5 star rating. I always get around a 4 or 5 on top with a 3 fade on the sides and back. My fades are always consistent and carefully lined up. They're expertise in using clippers and scissor work is noticeable when they're able to shape and size the top to your liking. Whether you give them a general description of what you want at the beginning of your haircut, or you micromanage their progress as they tame your hair, you'll leave satisfied & feeling good when you realize that your standard hair cut only costed you $8. read more

At first, I really liked this place. I mean, you can't beat the price and the first couple of haircuts were good. Then, the wheels fell off. The cuts started to get really inconsistent and the straw that broke the camels back was when a middle Eastern friend of mine accompanied me there and when we left he said the barbers were talking sh*t about the customers..... first and foremost, it is rude to speak a language that not everyone in the room can understand.
