It may have been that I hit an off day. My bigger fear/thought is that ownership has changed. The service was dreadful - super uncomfortable and terse - I didn't recognize anyone working. Just a bunch of disinterested white people in the front and back of house. The pita was a little stale. Have they stopped making their own from scratch, hot off the stove? That was one unbeatable thing about this place. The garlic paste was average - nothing compared to the mouthful of flavor explosion the Amir Grill of yesteryear had me craving. The chicken was so-so, unimpressive in texture or flavor. If I sound super curmudgeonly it's because I really, really used to adore this place. I had the meat combo which comes with a good amount of meat, rice, salad and bread. Also hummas and some sort of garlic dip which both were great. It was peaceful in the restaurant with a decent amount of parking and outdoor seating. The waitress was quick and polite. My water was always full. The chicken kabob was delicious and tender. The lamb was great and so was the beef. The garlic dip was perfect for all 3 and the bread was soft and tasty. I will be returning here for sure. read more

So, who would expect a really good Middle Eastern restaurant in Golden? Moreover, who would expect TWO really good Middle Eastern restaurants in Golden - Amir Grill and Ali Baba Grill? And just a stone's throw from each other. But let's focus on Amir Grill. Easy access and plenty of parking. It resides in a newer strip mall, but a strip mall nonetheless. No matter, when you enter, it's not what you expect. Mind you, I'm not a designer or decorator - some might say I don't even have good taste - but I would describe the dining room as "casually elegant." Don't let this confuse you - do not dress up - it's not that kind of elegant. It's just very pretty inside, especially with its lighting when it's dark outside. It's not large but it has a good amount of seating and could well accommodate groups of 6 or 8 as well as smaller parties. They weren't busy the night we went which might have been fortunate as one young woman (owner?) was covering the front of the house on her own. No matter - her service was gracious and attentive. As is typical, meals come with salad, rice, hummus and pita. We had a Meat Combo (lamb, chicken and kafta) and Bamya (Syrian okra with lamb meat, tomato sauce, pomegranate sauce, cilantro, garlic and spices). Both were excellent - I would especially recommend the Bamya if you want to try something a little out of the mainstream and delicious. Prices are what you expect - mid to upper teens. Here's a surprise - looking at the menu online, it says that they have pizza. Pizza - in a Middle Eastern restaurant - I wouldn't kid you about something like that. No thanks - I have lots of choices for pizza - when I go to Amir Grill, I'm going for Middle Eastern food. One final surprise - and, not a happy one. There is NO Arabic or Turkish coffee on the menu. C'mon Amir - add that delicious sludgy coffee. I might even raise you to five stars if you do. read more

Wow the experience I just had was almost too unbelievable to be true ...... I went in to get a take out order on a Saturday night, only one other person in the entire restaurant waiting for a take out order and A family of 4 on the patio.....the waiter (loosely termed) was not welcoming whatsoever, no greetings or smile... just what can I get you? Almost rude if not so aloof.... lazy attitude apparent. I told him that I wanted to place an order to go, never even offered me a menu, just said well what do you want? I told him that I believed number 66 he said you must be wrong that's french fries. I said no, I'd like the family take out dinner and he's very rudely pointed out to me that the number was 66 not 68 and if I got it from the Internet it's obviously wrong and then asked what's in it?..... whatever I moved on .....place my order requesting a couple of extra pieces of pita bread to be included, was told that it would be 15 minutes. As I sat and waited for my order I watched him carry the patio order out one plate at a time! And stopping mid serve to take a break to walk over next to the cash register to shove food into his mouth, then walking back to the window and taking yet one more plate at a time. Somebody came out from the back to "assist" carrying plates out to the table. Needless to say it was absolutely unprofessional poor service to witness also while sitting and waiting I noticed there was garbage on the floor, and chairs askew around all of the tables Moving forward guess what....no extra pita! Had to wait another 5 minutes for it! Get home, open bag and realize I have received the oldest grossest food ever! The pita bread actually has spots on it that looks like mold and then it was grilled and greasy, the meat horribly horribly dry and flavorless, actually tasted pretty old. The "house made" salad is obviously bagged salad with dressing on it and plopped into a box I don't know if maybe the owners are away and the restaurant is staffed with a couple of their children, but obviously they absolutely do not care about this restaurant. I've never had this horrible service or food from this establishment before. seems the staff tonight had an absolute disregard for wanting to be there, acting put out to even be there! Visiting Golden and my teenager was starving. The space is super cute, and doesn't look like a strip mall. We all had Kebobs which were perfectly cooked. Sampler plate offers a little of everything and was delicious. I don't think I've ever had better lentil soup. The mango drink was a hit, and home baked pita brought it all together. This place is wonderful! The atmosphere is very classy and clean with a very friendly staff. They have a menu that is sure to have something for everyone. I ordered the vegetarian sampler and the portion was HUGE I was very satisfied. Everything has a great flavor and the prices can't be beat. The menu is very well priced with entrees around $12. I tried the mint green tea and my partner tried the chai tea and they were both amazing. You get free refills on the tea but not on chai which is very understandable. So good! My friend and I got take out after going hiking, and we were not disappointed! We got two of their variety plates so we could try a little of everything, and it was all delicious. The pita was super fresh and made the drive home torture. We tried all three kabobs, and chicken was my favorite while my friend preferred the lamb, but the beef was solid too. They also have baklava there that's made in house, and it was delightful! Much less sweet than most baklava I've had, which I enjoyed. My only complaint is that their take out containers were Styrofoam. Pre-covid, that would be a max four star review for me, but I'm letting it slide while I know restaurants are really struggling. Great Lebanese food. Had lunch. Falafel was warm and tasty and fresh. Baba ghanoush was creamy and excellent. Chicken sandwich was perfect. No complaints about the food. There was the strange Pizza items in the menu-- looked bad, not worth trying. The sole wait person woman who served us seemed like a member of the owners family. She was pouting and disinterested in customers. Very unfriendly and lazy. Did not bring us water when needed. Several customers got up to get it from the fountain themselves. Amir Grill has not been around as long as some restaurants, but don't let that worry you. We never have to wait for a table, and the food is always absolutely amazing. With every bite, I keep saying, "This is so good. This is so good...." and, "I am so glad they were able to stay open, with the pandemic and all." I would put up with having to serve myself and eat on the floor, because the food is so amazing. But they have plenty of tables, and the waitstaff is happy to serve. Some of the waitstaff knows they are relatively inexperienced, so they invite and really appreciate kind suggestions on how they can improve (e.g., "bring water and menus quickly after customer is seated" has become standard). As a longtime fan of Middle Eastern/Mediterranean food, I went way out of my way to try Amir Grill. It's absolutely fantastic. The Pita alone makes this place worth the visit. There's not much to say, other than everything that we tried food-wise was precisely how it should be. Hummus, Dolmas and baba ganoush were excellent. Dolmas are a particular favorite of mine, and finding good ones isn't always the easiest thing in the world. My only real complaint is the location. I'm in Lakewood and they're in Golden. But that's only a complaint because I'm utterly selfish and would prefer it if they moved in next door to me. read more

I grew up in saudi arabia, so I am always looking for the authenticity that reminds me of my childhood. This food made me happy. They bake fresh pita bread which is amazing. Very few places do that. The food here is outstanding! The baba gnoush is terrific, as are the garlic cream sauce and pita bread. The chicken and beef swarma are so good. We took our daughter here for her 16th birthday (at her request) because she is crazy for the bamya (okra stew). You don't find bamya at any old Lebanese restaurant, only the best. My Lebanese uncle would love the food. We love it so much we had them cater our wedding anniversary party. The catered food was every bit as good as in restaurant.
