When the moon hits your eye like a vegan pizza pie!
    Brad L.

I was at work and my coworker said we should order pizza for lunch. I agreed. After discussing where to order pizza from, she offered to search for pizza places with vegan options. A few minutes later she asked me if I've ever had Amore's Pizza. Nope. She asked me if I'd ever heard of Amore Pizza. Nope. She said they have vegan cheese, want to try it? Yup! She put in the order and less than an hour later, our pizza was delivered. Great on the time. The pizza was really good and the vegan cheese was really good. My only complaint is that they were a bit skimpy with the cheese, but I know that stuff ain't cheap. The pizza itself was really good! I'd definitely let my coworker treat me to ore Pizza again.... Aww, heck, I might even pay for it myself next time. ;)

Always enjoyed their pizza but this is burnt and not edible. Sad to have been served this.

I've been going here for years and always enjoyed the pizza, but this is burnt to a crisp, not edible. We can't eat this. Really bummed about this. How does this get passed as acceptable to serve?

    Large Pepperoni and Spinach

After recently moving to Wallingford, I received a voucher from Amore Apizza as a "welcome to the neighborhood" gesture, which was awesome. I picked up a large pepperoni and spinach pie from them on a Saturday afternoon and the pickup was fast and painless. I didn't realize they were located right next to Neal's until I pulled into the lot, that's a great 1-2 punch. The pizza itself was very good, and I suspect the other dishes they have are also solid. Will definitely be returning!

    A pair of not-so-garlic garlic knots . . . .
    Chris C.

Amore Pizza shares the same small building with Neil's Donuts and Bake Shop. I'd visited to check out Neil's, but stopped into Amore to scope out their knots. Tale of the tape: Garlic Knots - mid to large in size, while not oily, they unfortunately have just a slight garlic flavor. The knots are a bit chewy on the inside without being too overly doughy. All in all not bad, but for a true garlic connoisseur, one is left wanting a-more.... I gave a 3-star, as it's not fair to rate a place based on one menu item alone. Should I return to Neil's, I'll stop by Amore for some of their pizza fare.

    Which one do you want.

I have always been happy with Amore. Then tonight. We order dinner. I ordered the lasagne. Extremely disappointed. Tiny little piece. While the chicken parm dinner can choke a horse it's so big. A 3 year old girl would be hungry after eating the lasagna dinner Food taste good. Just wish the portion was a little bigger. Thanks for the offer oF refund or more tasty lasagna

Now THIS is what New England clam chowder should be. Creamy, with lots of clams & potatoes. And this from a pizza joint!

I've had pizza from Amore Pizza a few times now, and to me, it rates three stars. That may seem a bit harsh, but there are so many really great mom & pop pizza joints in Wallingford that it takes a really special pizza to rise above that three star average. Amore Pizza just doesn't. Listen, in many other markets this would be a four, or perhaps maybe even a five star pizza joint, but the quality of pies, grinders, calzones, and pasta dishes offered here relegate it to mediocrity in Wallingford. It's good pizza, not great pizza.

If you like New Haven style pizza, which is arguably the 'esemplare' of all pizza, then visiting The Little Rendezvous is a MUST visit if you live within 90-min. Plan a trip to visit some store you want to go to, a beach visit or whatever, just find a way to circle The Little Rendezvous into the trip! The crust is thin with a crackery-crunch, the sauce is at a another level and the mozz and roni are high-quality deliciousness! Rendezvous stands tall with any of the well known top-3 pizza joints in New Haven. Dave's score of 9.1 (if you are unaware of the reference, then pizza isn't your thing) is right on point, and I'd go as far as scoring it slightly higher at a 9.2 based on my visit. The building is something out of folklore. The building is all of about 20ft. wide, and when you enter, it is immediate, Steve (owner/chef) is all about the pizza. To be clear, most will consider Rendezvous to be take-out only. There is zero decor, less signs made with cardboard and sharpie notifying you that wait times of hours are real..... so be sure to call ahead. You walk past the most basic seating area of 3-4 small tables with bare walls, and then proceed to walk down an oddly long and narrow sloping hallway which leads you to the service counter/kitchen which houses the 130-year old oven! It's honestly something you could only imagine out of a movie...... the hole in the wall that is creating high-quality, delicious pizzas! Why or how you ask? The answer is simple, Steve! The guy clearly has a passion for making pizza and has dedicated his life to doing so. I met the 'man-the myth-the legend' on my visit, and he kindly even took the time to chat with me. Bucket-list item checked off! Overall score = 5.0!!!

We arrived early on, what I thought was off hours and ordered in person, the wait time was 4 hours. I don't live far so it was easy to come back. The dining area is tight and pretty basic, so plan on wooden bench in limited space if you are dining in. I would also recommend calling way in advance with your order. As far as pizza goes, I have had the opportunity to sample most of the high profile places and understand why this place deserves to be on the list. The crust is pretty fantastic and overall a really good pie. When we went, there was no line. The grab and go was super simple, cash only. Order ahead, plan accordingly, and enjoy.

I ordered a large cheese pizza, and it has to be one of the best I've had in a long time. The crust was perfectly crispy with just the right amount of char, not greasy at all, and every bite was packed with flavor. You can really tell they use quality ingredients and put care into every pie they make. It's that kind of pizza where you immediately know you'll be thinking about it later. Honestly, I wish my wife and kids were here to try it with me--they would've loved it. I'm from California, and I can say I haven't had many pizzas back home that compare to this. It's that good. In fact, I ended up coming back a second time before heading home because I just couldn't pass up another chance to have it again. That alone should say everything. On top of the amazing pizza, the employees were friendly and welcoming, and you can tell it's a family-owned business that takes pride in what they do. That kind of atmosphere makes the experience even better. If you're anywhere near the area, I highly recommend stopping by Fuoco Apizza. Whether you heard about it from Barstool or not, it absolutely lives up to the hype. You won't be disappointed.

We drove to New Haven and were eating our pizza in less time at one of the more popular/well-known places. Seating is almost a waste of time. Maybe there's enough seating for 25 people?! You need to get to know the people next to you because you're basically at the same table. Prices are shockingly high for what you get. With the sheer amount of pizza-places within a 2-10 mile radius of Fuoco - you're better off giving another establishment a try. Try Half-Moon in Wallingford. The pizza is delicious, less of a wait time and there's actually room to eat and relax.

Inferno Apizza is a New Haven-style pizzeria that opened in North Haven, Connecticut in July 2017…read more It was founded by Christopher Beauton, who has over 50 years of pizza-making experience. More recently Beauton was connected with the New Haven-based "Big Green Truck Pizza": a fleet of green mobile wood-fired pizza oven trucks that was founded in 2003. He joined that operation in 2009 and worked as one of the pizza chefs as well as an operations manager. In 2017, Beaumont decided to open his own brick & mortar pizzeria at the Home Depot Plaza in North Haven. He had a Mugnaini Wood-Fired Pizza Oven imported all the way from Tuscany, Italy and installed at his new pizzeria. Inferno Apizza was met with much success and even opened a mobile pizza truck spin-off business dubbed "Rolling Inferno". In May 2024, Inferno Apizza closed their North Haven location. At this point, Beauton semi-retired but passed the torch to his 20-year-old grandson Michael Masto. The young pizzaiolo learned well from his grandfather and had been making pizza for a number of years. In October 2024, Masto reopened Inferno Apizza in Wallingford, with Beauton helping out as a "business consultant". In addition to New Haven-style thin crust pizza, Inferno also makes subs, salads and various appetizers such as wings and stuffed breads. My family and I have ordered from Inferno Apizza several times since they opened, and we have never had a bad experience. The crust is always crisp with just the right amount of char around the edges. I recently ordered take-out from them: a large "White Pie with Broccoli & Extra Garlic" and a small "Plain Mozzarella". This was actually my first time ordering from them since they relocated to Wallingford. When I arrived, I took note of the new location. It's much smaller than their old North Haven location; more of a take-out pizzeria now as opposed to a large sit-down pizzeria. Also gone is the large wood-fired oven (the pizza trucks, however, still use wood fire). Inferno now uses conventional gas ovens. Could they still get that crispy, charred crust with these? When I arrived at home, we dug into the pizzas and all of our worries were set aside. It may be a new location, it may be different ovens, but it's still the same excellent-tasting pizza! We continue to give Inferno Apizza our seal of approval!
