First of all the restaurant delayed my order because they weren't ready when the driver arrived. That was the least of the issues. The pizza was okay definitely not enough cheese on it and it didn't go far enough to the edge of the crust if you know what I mean there was like 2 in of pizza that actually had no mozzarella on it all the way around. Next would be the eggplant stack. There is a nasty flavor in here that tastes a lot like vinegar in the sauce. Or maybe it's in the eggplant it's almost like they soaked it in vinegar. I love eggplant but this is horrible. And I don't even use that word. Finally we ordered and Alfredo linguine I took a picture of it because it was so ridiculously old. The top of the dish actually was all dried out and only underneath was there any cream. That's how long this had been sitting in this container obviously pre-made before I even ordered it. It's all coagulated. Finally, I meant to order from Carmine's in durham. I chose the wrong restaurant because I had no idea there was another Carmine's pizza restaurant close by. The pizza is nothing like the Carmine's in Durham. Unfortunately. I paid over $72 for this sub-par food to be delivered and what a huge disappointment and waste of money.

This place recently opened up across Hubbard Park, replacing the previous pizza joint. Since we live nearby, we figured we'd give it a try. We got takeout, they don't have much seating beyond a few chairs but you could always sit at the park to enjoy the pizza. They also have a small parking lot. We got the mozzarella prosciutto pizza and it was pretty good.

While the pizza was good. Stay away from the antipasto. The worst I've ever had. Don't believe me? Order it! See for yourself.

They do advertise for combo deal's, slices, $1 wings. Angelina's is directly across the street from Hubbard Park too. I'd assume people grab and go to the park. We ordered a simple cheese pizza and a chicken cutlet sandwich. The pizza was fresh, melty cheese with tasty Italian spices and perfectly cooked crust, but wasn't anything special. There are many other pizzerias in the area so it comes down personal preference and price. The chicken cutlet sandwich was a decent size and delicious. We were happy with the portion sizes, quality, and price. Our total was about $23 and we had leftovers (this was for 2 people). We will likely order again and will think of this place if we plan to have pizza for a gathering.

On a recent Saturday I finally stopped in for their $6.50, 2 slice pizza deal that comes with a 20 ounce Coke. The pizza is New Haven style and baked in a wood fired oven, need I say more? The slices were delicious and likely the best in the immediate area so I will be returning in the not too distant future. One word of caution - be prepared to pay an additional 4% over menu prices if you choose to pay by credit card.

Two offer wood fired pizza while the third impresses by offering an inexpensive 2 slice combo that includes a soda. The fourth being Illiano's where once again I forgot how relatively expensive their slices were in the past and likely continue to be though admittedly I neglected to inquire or take note of how much I paid. I requested a pair of cheese slices, NY style according to its website, to go and after paying was ignored by one and all for too many minutes. Although they advertise on their website that a snack in the form of a tiny nugget of pizza would be offered, none was offered to me - boohoo. Finally one of the employees broke away from whatever he had been engaged in, took note of my order of which there was no others and placed the slices in the oven. Shortly thereafter the slices were properly reheated, boxed and handed to me with nary an apology or a smile offered. These were consumed in the car where both of us agreed the crust bordered on being tasteless and the toppings only fractionally better. This location, the owners third, has been in operation since 2008 so obviously they are doing something right though you could not prove it by me.

I've been to this little pizza shop twice now…read more My first visit was made after a long day when my friend and I were hungry and hoping to find good local pizza nearby. I'd driven pass Empire Pizza many times but this would be my first experience easting there. We ordered a large pizza with mushrooms and peppers, asking for the pizza to be made "light on the cheese" and the order was a pleasant surprise for both of us. I rate that experience slightly above average, 3.5 stars and determined that I'd visit again in the future. The second visit was with my uncle who had visited to help with some repairs and a pizza reward seemed appropriate. Our order was also mushrooms and peppers, but I didn't ask for any alteration to the cheese volume since I knew that my uncle would prefer more cheese and he had made the trip just to help me so I decided to see how this pizza would rate. Sadly, I found the pizza less exciting overall, barely average. BTW, the pizza isn't New Haven style pizza and is more of a local variation on NYC style pizza (which I prefer over New Haven style pizza). Based on the two visits I'd rate Empire Pizza three stars overall, IOW average. There's nothing wrong with average pizza, so this isn't intended as a slight in any way.
