I really can't believe I have not reviewed Amore Pizza! I have been coming here for years!! I love their pizza. I love that it's always consistently delicious. Old school pizza joint that is just as good (or you can say rivals) Lucia's on Roosevelt Avenue. Their classic slice had just the right amount of flop to fold NY style, the sauce was nice and tangy, the cheese was melted wonderfully, and the crust had a great crunch. A slice is $3.25, and a whole pie is $20. This spot is worthy of a stop on a Flushing pizza tour. read more

Today something happened at Amore's that has never happened before - and I've been here at least a hundred times.... I was treated with kindness.... not a lot and by just one employee but I was really surprised. Amore's has long been the best pizza in NYC and by extension the country and that's why I let the less than enthusiastic service not bother me. I go to Amore's for their great thin, oily, salty, saucy, crispy pizza and I even get to park for free in that weird lot but today's modicum of kindness was as much a surprise as great pizza is where I now live (mostly) in South Florida. You may come here for the regular slice but you should not leave here until you have had the Sicilian. As most people have said, the crust is super thin; much thinner than your traditional NYC slice. So if that is not your thing, then just skip the regular and get the Sicilian. The sauce is not as salty as most places, almost sweet, which I like. They also give you a lot of sauce, which I also like. So why 4 stars? Even with a thin crust, I like the crust to be a little more cooked. I ordered 2 regular and Sicilian so I tried the regular and then the Sicilian. By the time I reached for that second slice, the crust was falling apart under all that sauce and cheese. Still very good but a more cooked crust may have held up longer under that onslaught. Now on to the Sicilian. As mentioned, the sauce is slightly sweet, which I liked. The dough is crusty on the outside but almost fluffy and chewy on inside, which I loved. It is really balanced in terms of sauce, dough and cheese and could be the best Sicilian on the island as someone recently told me. I have to go back to Umberto's of NHP to try theirs because I went to the Umberto's in Plainview and their sauce has gotten way too salty. TBC read more

Amore has that nice old school Queens pizzeria feel which is awesome if you grew up in the area. And I don't think they plan on redecorating anytime soon. The pizza is good, not amazing but good enough where some friends and family still ask for their pizza by name. The issue is the owner's attitude. I never got his name he's got the worse attitude. Each time I come here I am reminded again of why I shouldn't step foot in here. Then a few years go by, I forget, and the cycle repeats. The owner just looks at me with such disdain which got me thinking "ok so you're glaring at me and I'm paying you for that apparently". He also snaps back at you if he's in a foul mood apparently. I stood there waiting 15 minutes for my pizza and the things he says to people are just not ok. They walked right out and I would have too if i wasn't the sucker that prepaid. Their regular slice is the best in queens hands down. You have to eat it once they serve it to you as putting it in the box makes the doe all soft n sougie. The NY slice needs that nice crunch to the crust n they nail it every time. Service is very "I don't give a shit" just like Peter lugar. If I could leave zero stars I would. The pizza is MEDIOCRE however the last 4 times I been for pickup they practically burn the pizza. It's inedible. The short hispanic guy is super rude as well and just miserable. My mother mispronounced the name of a pizza and he was very hostile and aggressive when correcting her. The pizza is a little heavier on the marinara sauce than other famous NY pizza places, but I love it! Between the flavors of the marinara sauce to the cheesiness to the perfect crispy and tasty pizza crust, I have to admit there is something beautiful going on here in the world of pizza! The men who work this joint have a passion for what they do & you can see it in their faces as they serve you. Service was impeccable and quick! I watched these guys serve around 60 people as I sat down with my family to eat our pizza by the door. It's a small pizza parlor, so seating is scarce, but there is such a quick and simple process to getting a slice of delicious pizza here that 90% of people who walked in to get food got it to go. We were derailed in our travels and found a place to stay within walking distance to this establishment. Before I went I made sure I had cash because it's cash only. I tried a silician slice which was thicker and had great flavor. The sauce was great and good amount of cheese. My daughter got a traditional pepperoni slice. Crispy overall and crust was good, wish they had reheated the pizza a little more after the put on the pepperoni and placed in oven. Ordered for a pick up of plain pizza, a slice of mushroom and sausage, a fried calamari and a spaghetti with white clam sauce with total of $29. They were all freshly prepared poppy hot. Taste wise, 3 out of 4 items have tomato sauce and the were all toooo acidic. I remember they were better before. Just a bit of sugar to balance off the acid from tomato sauce will help my heartburn. This is a great place to get a pie or a slice in the Flushing area. We were starving after driving from Kensington so we stopped by for a late afternoon snack. The service is good, the pizzeria is popular (people lining up out the door) and the food comes out quick! We ordered a large pie to share with 7 people. The slice was perfect: gooey cheese with sweet garlic sauce on a thin crunchy crust. Amazing! I could have eaten two more slices! Tip: There are Restrooms in the back. Literally, one of THE best slices in queens. I've been coming to Amores for the last 20 years and it's been so consistent the entire time. Currently, they only offer a small take out window, but it faces a huge parking lot. The regular cheese slice straight out of the oven is sooo goood. Thin, crispy and gooey in all the right places. After 35 minutes we asked for an updated time and she told us it would be another 15 minutes because they took a bunch of phone orders at the same time as our order and they took care of them first. They don't make it to any rack to let rot for hours. And no salad pizza, buffalo chicken, Garden compost dumpster on your pie like some places. This is real 70s choices old school pie before frou frou got to it. They pull it right out of the oven and it's on the wax paper. Amore is the best pizza in queens and I think the best old school pizza left around. Keep your shittake mushroom, diced tofu, bowl of salad on a cardboard or foam pizza. I don't want ranch dressing dumped on my pie either. I will go to CPK if I want that. Or a coal oven place in Brooklyn for that sort of stuff. Amore is a slice, the real thing, pizza that folds. Never a slice that needs to be reheated. Always hot from the oven Fresh. The coke tastes like a good strong fountain coke, not watered down. Chicken parm is great too. The attitude of these guys is fine too. They say hi if they are not crazed. They are nice. They are pushing the pizza, plain and simple. This is not a sorority house or a place to babysit kids. It's real, gritty, no nonsense and no pouf. And the best slice you will ever eat. The young woman working the front counter is top notch. Efficient, nice. If you come often she remembers your usual. Eat in the back if you want her to serve you. Front tables are for slices. Stand and wait at the counter for more pie to come out. They Hand you slices, Coke, your money. I have spent the last 3 years listening to my fiance's friend wax poetic about Amore... I finally went a couple weeks ago to see if he was right. We got a large pie with extra cheese to split between 4 of us. Since moving to New York I've come to appreciate a plain cheese slice, and this was pretty delicious. The sauce wasn't too sour or too sweet and the crust was good. Frequented Amore for many years and today, today will be the last time I walk in. I get that slinging pizzas all day may not be the most exciting thing in the world and when it's busy, it may be tough to greet everyone that walks in. After all, I've been here many times before. But when it's not busy, I mean truly NOT busy, and there are two guys behind the counter, both glued to the TV screen on a sports documentary, not even a live game in progress, one guy looked me square in the eye after I waited patiently for one of them to do so, then immediately look away, right back to the TV? I get that I'm not welcomed here. The next guy that walks in behind me, perhaps a regular, gets a hello right away? Yep ok, I get that I'm not the customer you want today or in the future. I've never received great service from these guys but figured maybe I'd give them a pass (or a few passes) but this is it. If you prefer a sauce-heavy slice and thin crust like me, this is great, fast pizza! Ordering delivery was super easy and the pie got here lightning quick. The pizza is nice and big. I will say that this type of pizza isn't for everyone, but it's the kind of pizza I like. It satisfies my craving and fed four hungry young adults quickly. I have only ordered delivery and not been to the location, so I can't say anything regarding that part of the experience. The guy on the phone (who I believe was also our deliverer) had that tart, Italian-New Yorker charm about him, haha. One word questions and answers and to-the-point. He made it easy! But there were no pleasantries and such. He didn't ask if we wanted plates, napkins, or chili flakes and didn't offer any toppings. We essentially knew nothing about the menu or other offerings. BUT that is just the type of place this is: fast, to-go pizza and that's what I expected. We didn't want plates or chili flakes, but just letting anyone who may want such things to ask for them on the phone voluntarily. Otherwise, you're getting what you get; a simple pizza pie.
