For those in the know regarding classic 70s/80s/90s "NY style" (gas oven) pizzerias, this is the quintessential corner slice shop we grew up with. And for those who grew up in the Forest Hills area, this is JOE'S PIZZA on 108 St. It's run by Joe's son, Tony, and Joe himself has a hand in this place. Crust- perfectly well done. That brown crisp on the bottom, yet foldable and not too thick. Tasty and not bland. Sauce- the secret is really in the sauce. Just the right amount and not at all a dry slice. Tasty, not too sweet like some places. Cheese- high quality, and not the cheap stuff. Melds just right with the sauce to create that nice orange hue I always look for in a good slice...just how I remember it from childhood. Great staff. And Tony who I got to meet is the kindest, has a strong sense of family and history, and is totally dedicated to providing his customers the best pizza. He's super knowledgeable about the art of pizza making! This has that classic dripping-off-the-slice deep orange-tinged oil that I remember from the old days, which is full of flavor. And this is essentially olive oil they use in their pizza. Bottom line- best regular slice in the city, not just Queens. The only thing missing, at least for nostalgia sake, is the old school orange bench seats and those fruit punch tanks that the old Joe's used to have, but I guess no one really keeps those these days. read more

As I walked into this establishment I was greeted with the bright lights throughout. It made me feel like I was walking into an operating room. I was first put off by them but I am thankful for the lights as it illuminated the dirt and grime on the shakers. See photo. I walked to the counter and was greeted by a grunt and sour puss. Not a very pleasant greeting and no personality throughout. I needed to wonder no more to the lack of passion. As I waited for my order I stared at the Gatorade bottles filled with fixin's. I pondered who had consumed these thirst quenching beverages to be filled with hot seeds, what color Gatorade did it start out as to be filled with salt that was nearly impossible to shake out. I noticed a buxom gentlemen attempting to open the top of a Gatorade bottle filled with garlic to pour onto his food and as he removed his hand from the cap, the filth came with it and left the remnants of every customer before him hand grease all over on his finger tips. The questions are endless perhaps I can question them longer as I sit on the toilet bowl with my stomach howling. The gushing oil on the pizza needed stacks of napkins to combat it. All I wanted was a solid slice of pizza but in stead I got horrible pizza and experienced the rudest workers. The workers behind the counter are absolutely rude and nasty. The man doing our pizza was extremely snappy at me after I tried adding to my order and he was completely ignoring me and not making eye contact with me. I ordered a pepperoni slice and it was a pool of oil, absolutely gross. Within an hour I felt so sick, it's very clear they use cheap products to make their pizza. You heard of short girl problems ? How about eggplant Parmesan girl problems ?? This short girl eggplant Parmesan problems have been finally solved ... thanks to Whitepoint Pizzeria. I ordered a nice inexpensive meal that would feed two honestly. The eggplant was sliced thin , prepared with bread crumbs and not greasy at all . The cheese was baked nicely and to the perfect melting. The ziti was al dense with a nice sauce that had some pep to it The Grandma slices were also very fulfilling. Typical old old old school pizzeria, that hasn't been updated since it opened lol! Sometimes that has a particular charm to it, but this place looks a tad bit worse for wear... The pizza here is pretty decent. The pies are pretty cheesy, sauce has some flavor but not much. Dough is ok, a little tough and dry. All in all semi bland. Add some parm or pepper flakes, and it does kick it up a notch. They do have many many slices to choose from. Their grandma is pretty good, that has a great garlic flavor to it! I also would get the pepperoni over the plain! I have also had their pepperoni roll, and it was stuffed nicely! Knots are also pretty solid! Staff changes up decently often. The people behind the counter are friendly enough. They get you what you order and send you on your merry way lol! Inside the tables look original to when the opened up hahaha! If you are a larger gentleman like myself, you might have issues sitting there. All in all a nice old school pizzeria that is good for local slices. Came here Saturday to try out a new place. Wow. These people are rude I was left beside myself. I attempted to use the free two liter soda coupon and the guys behind the counter argued with me and said it wasn't for here. It was for here this isn't my first rodeo. Then backtracked and said he's not going to argue with me over two dollars. This "used" to be my favorite pizzeria but not anymore after the staff completely ignored my complaint. First one happened a few years ago that Margherita pizza was delivered really salty. I mean "real" salty. I ordered mozzarella stick with it and not only pizza was salty, marinara sauce was salty too. I called the restaurant that sauce is salty and asked them to taste the sauce. They refused to taste it. I told them i can bring it back to you guys if you don't believe it and they said our sauce is not salty without tasting it. You know what? Never mind. I threw everything into the garbage can wasted my money. I didn't order from them for few years. Second, I gave it a try one more time a few weeks ago. I ordered Margherita pizza because this is my favorite The key ingredients in this pizza is basil and fresh mozzarella. There was mozzarella in it but no basil. It was sprinkled with dried parsley. I called the restaurant and told them there is no basil on it. They said "oh we ran out the basil." "You should have called me if you ran out of something. Is there anything you can make it up? At least I can get some credit back." They said they will but never happened. So me and my family ate Margherita no basil pizza. I wish I had basil in my house. It tasted nothing like Margherita pizza without basil. My family said it's just plan cheese pizza. Food is not the problem here, it's the staffs who work here. The pizza was so good . The alla vodka slice is to die for. The pepperoni Is classic and greasy enough. The seating was clean, they clearly keep up with the place. I didn't have to check each booth before sitting, since all of them were clean. I wish I found this place sooner. The owner seems like he takes his shop seriously, the workers are clearly terrified of him. The pizza looked fresh too, I've gone into spots where the pizza looks old and dry. I will 100% be back. My only issue (and a HUGE ONE) is that their Parmesan and garlic and other seasonings were in Plastic Gatorade bottles. Really effing gross considering those probably can't be washed with soap and water and replaced fresh. People and their nasty fingers all over it when they use it and then it sits on the plastic. I have since moved away from New York, but only after consuming many Whitepoint pizzas. The thin and crispy crust and the chicken Marsala pie are still two of the biggest selling points. I wish I could give this place higher than 3 stars but there have been several instances where the food has not been that great. If you are looking to grab a slice of pizza, their bacon ranch slice and vodka pasta slice is delicious. However, their pasta dishes on the other hand are not. The other day I ordered their pasta with claim sauce was not tasty at all, the clams were chewy and their sauce was watered down. In another instance, I ordered an Alfredo with grilled chicken and the chicken was too cooked and slightly burnt and their Alfredo sauce was watered down. I have also ordered through the seamless app and there have been many times where the slice I have is not available but it shows as available on the app, not sure if this is the Seamless fault or the restaurant's fault but it's annoying if you are in the mood for a certain slice and you have to accommodate to something different. When I told him have a good night, he just ignored me. Bad manners all around. As for the food, I ordered a stromboli and a chicken marsla hero. When I unwrapped everything, it was cold and soggy so cant even say the food was decent. Womt be coming back here, mainly for the bad attitude but also food wasnt great.
