How did they stand out from others I've used in the past? - They covered the doors with moving material to protect the door jams and doors. - They used a plastic wrap to go over all of our furniture. - They told us and showed us some of our furniture that was damaged prior to wrapping it just so we were aware of it prior to the move. Ampol provided a 3-man team for our move from a 2-bdrm condo to a house. The movers were friendly, always asked when they had questions, and, most importantly, took great care of our stuff. The move ended up take longer than we expected but that was because we had a lot more stuff than we realized and because they took the time to protect furniture, pack the truck securely, etc. We had a king size bed they disassembled and assembled along with various other large items. They made the smallest scuff on the ceiling of our stairway due to low clearance, I might not have even noticed it. But they notified us of it and I really appreciate the transparency -- it shows they take pride in their work. Overall, I would highly recommend! read more

We agreed on a date and time on the phone and I was able to pay my deposit on the phone. The owner texted me the day before the move to confirm the date and the time and he explained the payment options, this was very helpful. I contacted Ampol for my recent move and I received a prompt reply from Milos and Marcin. I checked with all of the traditional big names companies and found their quote to be the most reasonable, even with large, oversized king sized furniture pieces. Marcin answered all of my questions within minutes. I ended up not needing their services as I was able to sell my items to a consignment store that picked up my items, but I would definitely use them in the future. I can't rave enough about them! My cousin previously use them to move from one suburb to another, so I gave them a chance. I can't tell you how happy I am with their service! First of all, they were exactly on time! They also allowed for furniture pick-up from two locations (I was consolidating from two places into one), and they were great! They confirmed the addresses every step of the way. Their fees include tarps/padding/wrapping for the furniture. They also pointed out any damages prior to loading them onto the truck. At the final destination they were able to quickly unload everything and assemble all of the furniture. No deposit upfront, and you can pay by check the day of moving. Marcin is great. He is really diligent and patient. I sent over an inventory list and he thinks that the estimate I received from other movers were higher; so he offered to do a site assessment. Due to an emergency reason, I could not attend the site visit. Marcin still followed up with phone calls. Yelp can be a great resource for so many different businesses. Services are always hard to gauge because it can be so hit or miss depending on different employees, or factors that are sometimes outside the business's control. But Ampol Moving is truly great and deserves the 5 stars. First, I'll just point out a few things that are not deal breakers, but worth mentioning. They never send out a contract or paperwork until after the move, but they explained everything. They do respond quickly over Yelp messaging however. There is a $50 deposit to make sure you get your time slot, but again it's all based on messaging. There is a 2.5% charge if you pay by credit card, which is fair. They give you a 2 hour window for arrival and I didn't receive a heads up call, but that's fine since they showed up exactly at 9am. We mostly needed the big items (bed, dressers, desks) and a few boxes. It snowed the night before and the morning of, so there was a lot of wetness but they ran runners to minimize tracking. They were very careful with the items to not mark up any walls. They removed doors and light fixtures to avoid any issues. They were quick and asked questions when necessary to determine placement. They took about 2 hours to move us out and about 1 hour to move us in (the destination was about 2 miles away). We weren't 100% ready for them to move (had to clear out a couple of desks) but they worked around us to quickly get stuff cleared away. We were very pleased with their work and would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a solid company to move them. I would definitely use them again, but I'm hoping I won't have to move again for a while. read more

We went with Ampol moving because of all the good reviews and we didn't regret it. Their pricing very reasonable. Other companies wanted to charge from the moment they left their facility to the moment they arrived back, or had a travel fee. Ampol was charging from the moment they arrived to the moment they finished. That's it, plain and simple without unreasonable fees, despite the fact that they are located in Mount Prospect and we lived in Cary (40 mins away). 3 guys showed up on time, very polite and professional. They did not waste any time and we moved an entire townhome in 7 hrs. Nothing was damaged and they laid protective mats on our floors to not get the carpet dirty where they walked. These guys are absolute professionals. They handled my move earlier this month, and I could not have asked for better results. Six guys, two trucks, and a few hours later, and I was blown away. Everything was handled with more care than I ever tried to display, and it was done as quickly and efficiently as I could have asked. They were even able to get a VERY heavy, awkward object down a pretty narrow set of stairs without so much as touching the wall. I've always considered moving companies to be completely frivolous. I mean, we all want to hire movers, but it's hard to shell out money for something we can do mostly by ourselves. And for the heavy stuff? All you really need are friends you can bamboozle into "spending time with you" and the worst that'll happen is you'll be out a few beers and some pizza. But after moving for the 4th time in less than 2 years, I totally get it now. I called around to a few other moving companies and after explaining my entire moving itinerary, down to how many big boxes and how many small boxes (seriously? I don't know how many I'm going to have), I called my last company on my list, and Marcin picked up. He immediately quoted me a price by the hour. Oh, you don't need to know how many large pieces of furniture and exactly how many boxes? You don't need to know how many paintings I'm moving? What about my shoe size? "Nope, doesn't matter," he says. "It's all about time spent moving, not what's being moved." Well, tickle me silly, why doesn't everyone else have that model? And! And they do the whole wrapping thing and unassemble anything that needs to be done without any hassle. But, but, my dining table is really heavy. The legs for it are tricky..."It's okay, the movers do this all the time. They know what they're doing." Fast forward to moving day and two guys show up and everything is expertly wrapped, packed and moved. 1. They conquered my tricky dinning table. 2. They even packed my clothes, which I was going to take in my car. 3. I felt super useless and lazy watching and doing nothing. I wanted to help the guys so many times and had to stop myself. 4. Since I've never had the luxury of using a moving company, I didn't know I was supposed to tip or the appropriate percentage. And then when I signed for my receipt at the end, I saw the bottom said that tips were appreciated. I panicked and scrounged around and only found $20. They definitely deserved more. So, tip your movers and to the two that helped me move, sorry, I should have been more prepared on my end! But everything made it safely to my new place and I will be using Ampol again in the future. read more

I have nothing but great things to say about Ampol. I found Ampol on Yelp with an excellent review. Contacted via phone, and talked to Marcin. He gave me a reasonable quote and I booked the appointment a bit over a month. The day before, I received a call to confirm the appointment. The movers, Adam, Peter and Rafal, arrived at our place earlier, which was great! We went over what needed to be moved, and then they started loading stuff. They were very careful on fragile items. When we got to the new place, because of the weather, our drive way hasn't been paved yet. They swept the front step to make sure it is free from gravels. They also laid down carpets, and took off shoes when going upstairs. They also assembled the bed frames, desk and chairs that they disassembled before. We needed to move some furniture from my grandma's house and into my parents' basement. I asked for moving bids through Yelp, and theirs was the only response that indicated they had read the details of my request. We did not need to move a whole house, just some furniture. The price they offered was very competitive and the move went smoothly. They did a great job of wrapping everything for storage which was included in the price. (Some bids I received did not cover this.) The whole process took a bit longer than expected, and we appreciated them charging by the half hour (not a full hour) for the additional time. I have no idea why these guys only have one review...now two reviews after me! They were really amazing...they worked fast and completed my whole job in 2.5 hours. I moved from a 4th floor (no elevator) to a 3rd floor (yes elevator). They guys were so careful at handling all of my stuff. They even took extra care to put a moving blanket on the floor of the dirty elevator. The also worked slowly around doors and walls, so not to nic them up. You get two guys for $65 an hour and the truck charge was $65. It was worth every cent...we even gave the guys a $50 tip for moving us so fast. My wife called all of the other 5 star companies on YELP and they were estimating our job to take 8 hours and costing us around $800 to $900. That really scared me because I have moved before and I did not want slow moving guys. The other companies also were charging us for plastic wrap and rolls of tape...use of dollies and moving blankets. All of these add on charges were crazy. I was so happy with these guys. Miko was our driver and he was the leader telling the other two guys what to do. I was very happy at how fast they moved and how they were able to get everything into our new house. Five stars. NO kidding! Absolutely worth the price for prompt service! It cost $178 flat rate for 2 men to come disassemble a wooden bunk bed with built-in ladder and drawers, load and deliver it to my Sister's address. Once they arrived, the men carried this monster of a bed up 13 steps and into my Nephew's room. Truth be told, I was worried they wouldn't make it. They reassembled and placed it in the designated spot assigned by my Mother. The bunk bed looks fantastic. No damage and now my Nephew has an area in his room to play with his toys. Thank you Ampol for taking the worry, burden and weight of getting this very heavy piece of furniture from point A to point B off our shoulders.
