Turquoise ocean roll ($20) comes with shrimp and real crab. It was tasty.

3.5 stars. I have been to the Lake Mary Amura for both lunch and dinner and the quality varies quite a bit for both. Their service is usually good with the refills and bringing out the food. We went last night for the anniversary event the have and I went with the lobster volcano roll ($24) which was tasty but just a touch mushy and the turquoise ocean roll which has real crab and shrimp and it was yummy. Our server Jordeliz was wonderful and super attentive with making sure we were good.

Wanted a nice sushi place for a friend and I that wasn't far from Lake Mary/ Sanford area. Found this place but wow prices were so so so expensive . WHO CARGES 20 DOLLARS FOR A ROLL. The crab Rangoon was really good and the sushi to me was just okay. Zach the bartender was really really attentive and helpful and I wouldn't mind trying their hibachi grille room sometime but I don't think I can afford to come back for sushi. The atmosphere was sophisticated and the bar area was nice , they had cool lighting on the bar that changed colors. March madness basketball was also on the TVs so I was happy with that haha . Try it! But expect to spend like over 100 bucks on sushi

I came here on a Friday at lunchtime for a work meeting. The place was clean with very fast service. We ordered a bunch of apps and rolls and everything was so good! I always ask for suggestions and the waiter suggested that the Bubba roll was very popular so I tried that. The roll was fresh and tasty. We also had the Lobster Volcano roll. It was so creative and so much going on with that roll in a good way. The Lobster, shrimp and crab pieces, and jalapeños! Omg what an amazing roll. We couldn't not stop munching on it during the meeting. I would definitely come back again on my own. This was such a good choice.

Heath code violations CLOSED Oct 14th 2025.

This place has really gone downhill. Our family has lived in the Lake Mary area for 15 years, and the quality here has consistently declined over time. After this most recent experience, it will definitely be our family's last time "giving them another try." Despite recently seeing this restaurant on the news for being shut down due to health code violations, we decided to come for my sister's birthday since it's always been her favorite spot. We figured they would be on their best behavior after reopening -- unfortunately, we were wrong. We had a party of 12 seated in the hibachi section for the experience, but they split us into two grills. The waitress said it would be "too overwhelming" for one chef, so we expected two. Our reservation was for 7:30, but the chef didn't start cooking until after 8:20 even though we ordered everything right away. The soup was completely flavorless -- three of our family members sent theirs back because it tasted like watered-down ginger. When the chef finally came out, there was only one. He was forced to juggle both grills, cooking one group's food while the other sat watching their meal overcook. It was stressful and uncomfortable to watch him struggle like that. Cross-contamination was also a serious concern. He used the same utensils for raw chicken and mixed the cooked vegetables multiple times. Most of the food was overcooked, the noodles were mushy from sitting on the grill the entire 45 minutes and several plates the meat was completely unseasoned -- while others were not. To make matters worse, the birthday girl sat at the table that received no entertainment or "hibachi show." She literally watched the chef's back while he focused on the other side. (Again not the chefs fault for the lack of support) When I spoke to the manager, he showed zero concern. No apology, no effort to make things right. His attitude alone reflected exactly why this restaurant's standards have fallen so low. At $50 a plate (with the added gratuity) the food and service are completely unacceptable. If the health code issues don't shut this place down again, the lack of care and quality surely will. Lake Mary is a high-end area, and this restaurant no longer measures up. After 15 years of being loyal customers, this was the final straw.

Long Island Iced Tea was delicious

Amura was just average for me. We went on a weeknight to meet some friends. It was a drive for us, but that doesn't figure into the rating. First, the drinks! The Japanese Whiskey sour was just ok, nothing special. I switched to a Long Island Iced Tea which was better, but still nothing spectacular. The Dumpling Soup was delicious, but 2 F'ing dumplings for $7? C'mon man! Same with the pork belly in the appetizer sampler. Was it from a fetal pig because there was barely any there! The crab rangoon had some nice pieces of crab in it, so that was nice. The wings were also on point too. The fiery wing sauce was excellent and the wings were nice and crispy! For me, it's a pass on going back as the atmosphere didn't quite match what they're trying to do, and the prices they charge. It's no Sushi Pop (which is better than Nobu, IMHO! This place missed the mark in a number of ways.

Amura is consistently top-tier. I cannot get enough of their amazing sushi and friendly staff! I split this massive sushi boat with 3 people and we still had leftovers! Their hot dishes are also so good!

I read the reviews before coming in, but I was so optimistic I thought my experience would've been better. This place needs to change some things if they want to become better and have more customers. We went on a Saturday night and it was basically empty. The 3 hostess were all on their phone when we came in which should've been by sign to try another restaurant nearby. Also, every employee was wearing their regular clothes, I didn't see any sort of uniform in place which shocked me, I've never seen that before! The server was a little on the rude side. The place is expensive so you'd think you're getting what you pay for, but unfortunately it's not the case. The food was OK. The sushi was terrible and not authentic at all. I would be back in the future, hopefully someone picks the place up.

Came here on a whim after a week of craving sushi. Decided to get the honey short rib appetizer also. The flavor of the short ribs was really good, but the meat itself was very chewy. It was sliced thinner than I anticipated and maybe that what caused it to dry out and be as chewy as it was. I also ordered the volcano roll and Mexican roll--both of which were just ok. Probably wouldn't go back here for sushi.

I attended a birthday hibachi dinner celebration on Friday, January 20, 2023. We were a group of fifteen adults and children. I've had Amura's hibachi dinner in the past and I wasn't impressed. I believe there are better restaurants for this style of dining in the Orlando metro area. That being said, I opted for the Combination Dinner Entree with Chicken and Shrimp. The hibachi meal also comes with Japanese Clear Soup or Ginger Salad, Teriyaki Noodles, Hibachi Mixed Vegetables and either Fried or Steamed Rice. I knew this meal may not be going in a positive direction when I didn't even finish my clear soup. The soup had an off putting flavor which I've never experienced before in a Japanese restaurant. As to the main meal, both the chicken and shrimp were not tender or juicy and lacked any flavor. The noodles, mixed vegetables and fried rice also suffered the same fate of being tasteless. I wracked my brain trying to understand how a meal could be this bland with the amount of butter and soy sauce which was heaped on during the cooking process. At the end of the day, I neither finished my meal nor requested a leftover takeout container. I do give kudos to the hibachi chef for his entertainment skills. Also, the server, Wila was friendly, accommodating and attentive towards our group. As to my assessment of the food though, they advertise as the "Best Sushi in Orlando" and they may have something to hang their hat on as I've sampled their sushi before however, if they ever marketed themselves as the "Best Hibachi in Orlando" they certainly would be sued for false advertising.

Stopped in for dinner with Nancy around 6:45pm before our night out on the town…read more It's was pretty much everything I expected; small family run restaurant, great food, but not over the top fancy. The restaurant wasn't too busy, two small groups other than us. We were promptly greeted and seated at a booth. Our server was most likely one of the owners as she was seated right behind us with her son. I assume the man who seated us was the dad because he kept tabs on the son when Mom was taking care of customers. The chef might have also been a family member as well; regardless, they took great care of us during our visit, but it is something to note. There are a lot of menu options, so I recommend checking it out before arriving otherwise you may need some time to make a decision. Once we placed our order our food was out in less than 10 minutes which was pretty amazing. We started with the seaweed salad ($7), which we thought was a little small for the price; however, it was good, but know that they add thinly sliced cucumber into the salad as a filler. For our main course I chose the crazy roll ($11.45), Nancy chose the Rock N Roll ($9.45), and we also purchased the chicken fried rice to share ($12.45). The chef does a great job with the presentation and the food was delicious. For the most part The restaurant dining area is well organized and clean. When I got up to use the restroom I noticed a heavy sewer odor coming from the area. The men's room looked nice at first but as I looked closer I noticed the tile floor is missing grout and the restroom just needs better housekeeping. My wife said the ladies room was a disaster and there was foam spray around the base of the toilet and it was turning black, yuck! Well that's probably where to smell was coming from. About an hour after dinner I became very gassy which is unusual for me than I had an upset stomach the rest of the evening. Unfortunately this issue progressed further through Sunday and I've been house ridden the remainder of the weekend. I'm thinking something was up with my roll because Nancy didn't have any issues with hers. I hate to blame the restaurant for this issue but with being down to one meal a day I can pretty much weed out my lunch on Friday as the culprit. If I did come back I would probably stick to the hot food just to play it safe, but with so many other options in the area Its hard to say I will be back anytime soon.

We were seated by I think the owners. Her young son was behind us playing video games on his pad. A sound was a little annoying but...for the most part it didn't bother me I love kids. Lots of items on the menu. I knew right away I wanted the seaweed salad and a roll. I got the rock and roll roll which was awesome. The seaweed salad was good but there wasn't enough of it for me. Underneath the seaweed salad was a bed of sliced cucumber which was good but I'd rather have more seaweed salad!! Scott got a roll with shrimp and salmon. And we got the chicken fried rice which was awesome. All the food was good going down... but then later on that evening Scott began to feel sick. Something that he ate at this restaurant that had bacteria in it. . I mean We are eating raw fish.. As we went back to the bathrooms to wash our hands we smelled the overwhelming odor of sewage they had some old signs that set out of order on the wall so I'm guessing they had a problem. So that's my review The food was awesome!... but Scott got sick so I don't know if I'll go back.

From the outside it doesn't look like much, but the food is so good. The hibachi is my go-to every time. It's honestly one of the best deals around, and is way more affordable than the big hibachi chains in the area, and just as satisfying (if not better). Their onion soup is hands down my favorite Japanese soup of all time. And I have to talk about their white sauce because it is SO good. When you dine in, they give you a whole bottle at the table, which I love because you can go all in. And if you're doing takeout, they give you a really generous portion. One thing I really love is how customizable everything is. They'll make your hibachi exactly how you want it, all the way down to which vegetables you do or don't want, which is a nice touch you don't always get. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming, and service has consistently been great over the years. The space inside is on the smaller side, but they clearly do a ton of takeout business. It can get busy during peak times, but I've honestly never had to wait for a table. I'm not personally a sushi person, but everyone I've gone with raves about it, and you can watch the sushi chefs making everything fresh right at the counter. Yabi is a frequent stop for me and has been for years, and is definitely a local favorite.
