Excellent service and a very nice atmosphere. Restaurant has a sushi bar and plenty of tables for eating Sushi was pretty delicious and fresh with generous portions Recommend also getting the Korean Bulgogi pork. Yum.

Strong first impression of Mary Sushi for lunch last week and a huge thanks to Zach - one of the best servers I've had in a while. My garlic steak with rice, veggies and white sauce was good, though the steak was just a bit too salty for my taste and the rice slightly overcooked. The restaurant was attractive and there is definitely a following. But Zach was the real stand-out. The only server, he was efficient and very courteous and I noticed he seemed to remember what patrons ordered before and asked if they were interested in the same. I haven't seen a server THAT on point in some time. Kudos, my dude!

Started with luke warm soups and salads with too much dressing on top. Odd that the soup was like warm when we got there right at noon when they opened. Just good food. Sushi came with onions so not a Japanese thing. Looks like mom and pop run so they have that going for and we like supporting local. Looks like pop prepares the food and mom severs.

Ordered takeout. The sushi was delicious! Good size rolls with super fresh ingredients. The Maru signature roll was my favorite. My fiancé ordered hibachi with onion soup and he said it was a good portion and was very good. I would recommend!

I've come here a couple times, always for the lunch special. The staff here are super friendly and nice. The inside of the restaurant is nice. We started with the soup and salad which comes with the lunch special. The salad is good and they give you a good amount. Both the miso and onion soup have no flavor, they just taste like hot water. My friend always gets bibimbap when she goes to Korean restaurants. So she wanted to try it out here. She said it didn't really have any flavor to it. That the meat wasn't marinated/seasoned like it usually is at Korean restaurants. I ordered from the sushi lunch menu as I always do. I got the eel crunch roll, spicy salmon roll, and the maru signature roll. They were all really good! My favorite was the maru signature roll. I like how their spicy salmon roll isn't minced up like a lot of other places. I've never had a bad sushi roll here and I think they do have some unique rolls. I wouldn't order any of the other entrees here but I will be coming back for more sushi.

Fresh, very enjoyable, fair priced. Really enjoyed our meal and will return and recommend to others. Had the Hearhrow Speciialty roll and their 2 roll lunch specials.

Nico's celebration going away to US Navy bootcamp Maru's Bar and grill in Sanford, Florida.

We celebrated our "adopted" son's going away to Navy bootcamp at Maru's today and it was a fantastic and memorable experience. We reserved a table for 130 pm on a Saturday and made sure we could bring a cake with us. My family lives in Orlando and Nico and his siblings live in Geneva so Sanford was a great convenient place where Mick could enjoy his favorite foods which are Asian. Maru has sushi, sashimi, Korean (my favorite), Japanese and a wonderful extensive menu some of which you won't find in other places more common. The food was excellent, my other son tried Bibimbap for the first time and we had an excellent last meal together until after his bootcamp. If you are in Sanford or visiting Towne Center mall, stop by, relax, and be ready to be served your best Asian meal yet.

Salmon Skin Roll with added avocado

The restaurant was empty as we entered however, it was a great experience. We had excellent service. The waiter came over, took our order, brought out the drinks within less than two minutes. Our Augie Dash tofu was basically fried tofu with the toppings, which was not bad. It was pride fried to perfection. The tofu was soft in the middle. The salmon skin was perfect with the salmon skin crunch, and the creamy avocado added, made it perfect balance. The sashimi fusion I would skip upon my return to this restaurant because it although it was fresh, it lacked flavor next to my kitchen just order, sashimi plate and get the full piece of fish. The Maru volcano was actually very flavorful with the crappy and it was warmed and baked to perfection. It was a nice and quiet atmosphere with very low-key music in the background.

We enjoyed them for some lunch. Overall, pretty good. Two rolls with soup and salad for eleven bucks isn't too bad. Went with the All Green and Veggie Maki sushi, which was pretty good. Teriyaki chicken was a hit and some of the savory options one of us Loved looked pretty good as well. Cordial attentive service. Nice and clean modern setting. Definitely returning someday soon.

The Coconut Shrimp roll was sweet from the coconut sauce and the coconut added a yummy flavor and texture to the roll, as well. If you like coconut and sweet rolls, you'll love this. The Florida roll was GAS ! I just started getting into spicy food and spicy tuna recently and this was just perfect. The right amount of bite and the spicy tuna on top tasted so good. It seems like they mash it up, which makes it easier to chew than typical raw tuna. A great savory roll and the flavor profile was just right, adding the eel sauce was a nice touch. The Alaska Roll speaks for itself, I mean look at that mountain of crunch I got it both times I went (inadvertently). I think I got it right with the name... I was calling it the volcano roll, but that has mango sauce on it. This one has kani on top and cream cheese inside and probably shrimp tempura. I really loved this roll, like a mountain of flavor every bite. The atmosphere is small with authentic looking Japanese decor and quiet. A nice spot for a week day dinner (might get crowded on the weekend). Really great food though overall. Ate these rolls as leftovers both times and was good the next day

The special comes with miso soup or clear soup and if you want the house salad (like I did) there's like an extra $2 charge. The restaurant wasn't super busy when we arrived but I will say it took a little longer than anticipated to receive our rolls, which again were more basic ones since we did the lunch special. So on to the main event: the sushi! Definitely fresh, nothing tasted off putting or stale. However, the overall flavor of the rolls were lacking hence my 4 star review. I would come back just to try other items but the three rolls I ordered off the lunch menu were 1. Seared tuna scallion roll (6 pieces and rather small) 2. Spicy krab roll (this was pretty mid, 8 pieces) and 3. Spicy salmon roll (not spicy at all lol and again just okay)

From the outside it doesn't look like much, but the food is so good. The hibachi is my go-to every time. It's honestly one of the best deals around, and is way more affordable than the big hibachi chains in the area, and just as satisfying (if not better). Their onion soup is hands down my favorite Japanese soup of all time. And I have to talk about their white sauce because it is SO good. When you dine in, they give you a whole bottle at the table, which I love because you can go all in. And if you're doing takeout, they give you a really generous portion. One thing I really love is how customizable everything is. They'll make your hibachi exactly how you want it, all the way down to which vegetables you do or don't want, which is a nice touch you don't always get. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming, and service has consistently been great over the years. The space inside is on the smaller side, but they clearly do a ton of takeout business. It can get busy during peak times, but I've honestly never had to wait for a table. I'm not personally a sushi person, but everyone I've gone with raves about it, and you can watch the sushi chefs making everything fresh right at the counter. Yabi is a frequent stop for me and has been for years, and is definitely a local favorite.

On my most recent visit I ordered the Addictive Cabbage, which is supposed to come with Yugiri spice-seasoned cabbage, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and nori komi furikake. This time it was extremely dry and bland unfortunately, the Addictive Cabbage did not live up to its name-it lacked flavor and was quite dry. The past two times it fell short of expectations, especially compared to how enjoyable it has been in the past. The edamame was another letdown. It came out ice cold and was overly seasoned to the point where it was hard to enjoy. My first time trying it. For my main, I ordered spicy ramen. The noodles were clumped together and tasted undercooked. There was very little broth, and what remained had mostly been absorbed by the noodles. On top of that, both the noodles and broth were extremely salty-honestly one of the saltiest bowls of ramen I've ever had. Some ingredients also seemed to be missing. The last two times this one was disappointing. It's usually well balanced and delicious. Especially at what they charge for a bowl. The veggie dumplings were underwhelming and lacked flavor. I only tried them once so don't know if that is how they normally are. Service was just as frustrating. No one was at the counter for long stretches of time, and when I tried calling to see if I could bring the food back for a remake, there was no answer or callback. I even reached out online a few weeks ago before posting this review and still haven't received any response. I kept my receipt as well. This is now the second visit in a row where both the food and service have been disappointing. It really feels like things are declining, which is unfortunate because this place used to be reliable-especially for ramen and appetizers. I genuinely hope they turn things around, but based on my recent experiences, I can't recommend it right now.

Stopped in for dinner with Nancy around 6:45pm before our night out on the town…read more It's was pretty much everything I expected; small family run restaurant, great food, but not over the top fancy. The restaurant wasn't too busy, two small groups other than us. We were promptly greeted and seated at a booth. Our server was most likely one of the owners as she was seated right behind us with her son. I assume the man who seated us was the dad because he kept tabs on the son when Mom was taking care of customers. The chef might have also been a family member as well; regardless, they took great care of us during our visit, but it is something to note. There are a lot of menu options, so I recommend checking it out before arriving otherwise you may need some time to make a decision. Once we placed our order our food was out in less than 10 minutes which was pretty amazing. We started with the seaweed salad ($7), which we thought was a little small for the price; however, it was good, but know that they add thinly sliced cucumber into the salad as a filler. For our main course I chose the crazy roll ($11.45), Nancy chose the Rock N Roll ($9.45), and we also purchased the chicken fried rice to share ($12.45). The chef does a great job with the presentation and the food was delicious. For the most part The restaurant dining area is well organized and clean. When I got up to use the restroom I noticed a heavy sewer odor coming from the area. The men's room looked nice at first but as I looked closer I noticed the tile floor is missing grout and the restroom just needs better housekeeping. My wife said the ladies room was a disaster and there was foam spray around the base of the toilet and it was turning black, yuck! Well that's probably where to smell was coming from. About an hour after dinner I became very gassy which is unusual for me than I had an upset stomach the rest of the evening. Unfortunately this issue progressed further through Sunday and I've been house ridden the remainder of the weekend. I'm thinking something was up with my roll because Nancy didn't have any issues with hers. I hate to blame the restaurant for this issue but with being down to one meal a day I can pretty much weed out my lunch on Friday as the culprit. If I did come back I would probably stick to the hot food just to play it safe, but with so many other options in the area Its hard to say I will be back anytime soon.

Lots of items on the menu. I knew right away I wanted the seaweed salad and a roll. I got the rock and roll roll which was awesome. The seaweed salad was good but there wasn't enough of it for me. Underneath the seaweed salad was a bed of sliced cucumber which was good but I'd rather have more seaweed salad!! Scott got a roll with shrimp and salmon. And we got the chicken fried rice which was awesome. All the food was good going down... but then later on that evening Scott began to feel sick. Something that he ate at this restaurant that had bacteria in it. . I mean We are eating raw fish..
