Was down in Lake Mary for a business meeting and stopped here for lunch after a flight into Orlando. It was a Wednesday... and it was a "slow lunch" so I had the place to myself. I think I walked over from the hotel around 12:30 and was worried about the lunch rush. People did start trickling in, but I was welcomed in and instructed to pick a table. I chose one of the tables closest to the window. There is a darker/dimmer vibe here and I was hoping to look out the window and people watch. Service was great! I had a japanese soda, a lunch special: chicken katsu and 2 california rolls. [in all fairness, I had woken up that day around 4:30 to catch an early flight and didn't have breakfast]. Since it was a slow lunch, everything came out blazing fast and delicious. The lunch special included a house salad with ginger dressing and miso soup which were both solid. I would come back to try all the varieties of rolls, but that chicken katsu hit the spot - was perfectly cooked and delicious with the rice portion it comes with. A few coworkers and I wanted to try something out of our norm for lunch so we decided to give Samurai Sushi a try. We arrived around 11:15am, were promptly seated and our server, Annie was friendly and attentive. The restaurant was not overly busy and the available seating areas were clean/orderly. I decided on the 7-piece Sashimi Lunch Box for $15.95. In my opinion, this is a bit pricy for a lunch item. The Lunch Box is served with miso soup, house salad, fried rice, clear noodle/seaweed salad, and cucumber squid salad. My meal was delicious and was presented well; however, I was still hungry when I left. My coworkers ordered (1) Any Two Rolls ($11.95); (2) Chicken Tempura Lunch Box ($11.95), and (3) Teriyaki Steak Lunch Box ($19.95). Once again, everyone was happy with their meals, but were still hungry when leaving. So, for the four of us to dine in, our bill came to $67.14 minus tip. Annie was great, so obviously we tipped 20% brining our bill near $80.00. All-in-all if you are not on a budget and can afford to spend roughly $20 per person to have lunch here, I recommend giving Samurai Sushi a try. The food was delicious, service was great, and we enjoyed the atmosphere. Although I enjoyed my experience here, I cannot make it a staple for lunch. I can go down the road a piece to Tomasino's, order their lunch special for $8-$9 and walk out stuffed for the rest of the day; there is no comparison. Regardless, I would definitely return to Samurai Sushi in the future they have a good thing going; however, I might just visit on special occasions. read more

I was craving Sushi and saw that Samurai Sushi has a lunch special. The deal was 3 sushi rolls with a salad or soup, for $10.95. The restaurant is bigger than I thought, and I guess that not many people know about this special because it wasn't packed. I ordered the Crunchy roll, special eel roll, and shrimp cucumber roll with a house salad. The salad was ok, nothing too special. The sushi was good, but not great. The Crunchy roll stood out to me the most. My wife got the chicken teriyaki lunch Bento Box and I was kinda jealous. She had her teriyaki chicken breast, with fried rice, house salad, and clear noodles. Definitely something I'd try, if I were to visit for lunch again. Not a bad deal and the menu offered a variety of different types. During our wait the service was awesome, the restaurant was cool. We liked the private booths and the layout wasn't bad. Our food arrived and the sushi was just, okay. Nothing great and nothing bad, just okay. I'll definitely need to explore their menu more and probably ask the waiter about their dishes and specialties. Other than that, a decent atmosphere. This is one of my favorite lunch spots. My usual order is the shrimp teriyaki bento box. It is 8-9$ meal that includes fried rice, house salad, noodle salad, cucumber salad, an orange slice and miso soup. I change the miso for the clear soup. One of the best clear soups ever, by the way! Great little hidden away sushi place. Have to say the server Adrianna took excellent care of me! Stopped in for lunch and tried the dynamite roll, the shrimp tempura roll, and the salmon avocado roll. I opted for the lunch special with three smaller size rolls and it comes with either miso soup or salad. The salad was so pretty, and larger than I had expected in a bowl (not a cup). The salad dressing was a creamy, but lightly ginger flavored, sauce. I love the topping of super thinly sliced carrot and radish, it looked like tiny raw veggie noodles. The sushi was great and it totally hit the spot. The lunch special for three rolls was just under $10, can't beat it! Also there is a smaller lunch special with two rolls for less. Also noticed there is a sushi bar area to sit, a full bar for drinks, and lots of wine racks here. It's pretty elegant inside. The booth seating has blind dividers between booths so it feels very quiet and private in the booths, nice atmosphere. Moving from NorCal to Orlando and searching for the perfect sushi spot was hard. Moving from Orlando to Lake Mary and starting that search over? Oh GOODNESS. The boyfriend introduced me to this spot early on in our relationship. He swears by their eel sauce. Like, I like my eel sauce as much as the next person but he takes it to a whole other level. But just for this spot. I normally get the BBQ Salmon Roll and the boyfriend gets The Mexican Bubble. I've ordered their Udon a few times as well. The Seafood Udon isn't my favorite, only because the broth gets to be too fishy after awhile. But the Tempura Udon is really good. Not something I would pick over a spot in NorCal if I had to but for all the places I've tried so far, this would be my go to spot. For now. We normally get orders to go and they are incredibly prompt with to go orders. I think we were late by about 2 minutes and they called to notify us that our order was ready. And the one time we sat in to eat we were seated by the time they got to us at around 530pm. Thank you Samurai, for making people like me who value their time feel like there are no worries when it comes to ordering sushi from here! The only reason why I took off one star is because I have yet to find my PERFECT sushi spot in all of Central Florida. Our favorite sushi place for 10+ years now. I'm a simple sushi gal, I'm not into fancy rolls. My favorite is salmon nigiri and their fish is always perfect. It's fresh, beautifully marbled, perfect size, delicious. I've never been disappointed. I usually also get a California roll, and they are perfect too. Popular lunch spot in the area for a lot of folks in the area. They offer pretty decent specials with the most popular being the 3 sushi rolls with a miso soup or side salad for $10.99. If your appetite isn't that large you can get 2 rolls instead for $8.99. But be forewarned that the rolls aren't large as most sushi places. The food is decent albeit rather salty, enough to always leave my mouth dry after I have it, and to be honest the service isn't always the quickest but the servers are friendly enough. It just gets very busy in during the lunch hours, so be prepared to have this issue. I've come with a party of 4-6 before and have had to wait a while for seating. For the food I ordered the 3 roll special with the chicken tempura, tuna, and snow crab roll. All 3 were what I expected but aren't going to be super high quality obviously at the price they sell it at. The food was cheap, filling, service was slow, and it wasn't anything to write home about. But I'll be back here and there as the mood strikes. If you want sushi and you're in the area it's not bad, but there are better options around. read more

I wasn't super impressed with my trip to samurai sushi today, but maybe I ordered the wrong dish. I went at the lunch hour (just prior to noon) and my friend and I were two of only a handful of people in the restaurant. We were promptly sat and waited upon. Apparently we timed it just right as the restaurant filled rather quickly. Though it took a few minutes to actually put in our food requests, we had a good waiter who informed us that he had put our orders ahead of some of the large groups that were sat down. I ordered the chicken udon bowl ($10.95) and though it wasn't anything special in my opinion, it was quite filling. It had a decent amount of chicken, mushrooms, and fish cakes but it just tasted overly salty to me. The large udon noodles are a lot more filling than I was anticipating. It could be that I'm just not a big fan of udon bowls (I've only had them a few times) so I'd probably give the dish itself a 3-star. Next time I'll probably look to try a bento box or perhaps the sushi. My friend ordered the 3 sushi roll lunch combo which came with a bowl of the miso soup. It was the same price as my bowl, and he said he enjoyed the sushi and was pretty filled up. I'd probably come back in the future, as it is a nice restaurant and convenient to work. read more

I have been to this restaurant before and the food was better. I think its taken a hit bc of the pandemic and costs now days. Sushi was ok, but my chicken on the bento box was cold almost like frozen chicken badly microwaved with teriyaki sauce :/. I told them but they didn't offer any solution (or cared). Went there for lunch to get shrimp tempura bento. At first, I liked the restaurant inside, the decorations are nice. But then when we got to our table it has dirty feel. Your hands stick to it. I wish I wasn't looking up to see a tons of dust on their lamps, ceiling and other decor. So, before I've got the food I've had this terrible anxiety due to the "cleanliness" of the restaurant. When food came, there was an old rice stuck inside the miso soup bowl(probably wasn't clean well in a dishwasher), and Ive seen it while I ate half of it. Well...bento box was dirty outside too, like someone else ate from it and they just washed it inside a bit and then put my food in it. I felt how gross it is so I couldn't eat more than 1/4 of the food(i picked ones from the top, not touching the sides of the dish). Ended up having nausea in 2 hours and stomach cramps for two days. So, I guess they need to work on the cleaning standards here. If you have OCD or don't want to risk - don't come here. I'll give this place another chance in the future, but not in the next couple of months. read more
