So I'm back to trying another local donut shop and today's lucky joint is Amy's Donuts. I picked Amy's coz it's on the way to wherever I was going. Anyhoo, the lady behind the counter was very cheerful and friendly; she even gave me a free donut hole even before I told her about the Yelp check-in offer so plus points to her. I got just two donuts - glazed and sugar raised twist bars. Both were fluffy and tasty; definitely up there alongside Nevin's. The donut holes were good too... though I didn't care much for the sprinkles. Happy to have found another top donut shop even if it's not quite walking distance from where I currently live.

    1. Wear your masks. 2. Order the ham and cheese croissant - it's big, but not big enough to share because it's too good. They will heat it up for you but I opted to heat at home. 3. Order the plain buttermilk bar - I love this. It's crispy and crunchy on the outside, and soft inside. Perfect with coffee 4. Order the chocolate glazed donut - because you need a dessert donut after your plain buttermilk bar. Trust me :) 5. Order the blueberry donut - this will satisfy your sweet tooth. Dunk in coffee for best results 6. Order the plain donut - For later 7. Order large coffee - I heated up some milk and eggnog at home and added to the coffee. Tasty. 8. Pay and tip well. You will feel good knowing you are supporting your neighborhood donut shop. 9. Repeat next day. * again, service is super friendly. keep safe and enjoy.

Surprised with a free donut hole when I opened my bag!

First time customer! I was at the laundromat a couple doors down and decided to stop in for a single donut and coffee while I wait for my wash. I was immediately greeted by two women with friendly smiles. I picked a classic chocolate with sprinkles and a vanilla iced coffee. My total was $4.90. I took my little white bag and iced coffee and sat in my car to enjoy. I was pleasantly surprised that she had snuck a free donut hole into the bag! It was light and perfectly coated in glaze. Then I took a bite of the chocolate with Sprinkles. It was also lightand fluffy. The chocolate frosting was good and the sprinkles were plentiful. The iced coffee came out quick, was just the right amount of sweet but I didn't love it. So I did take one star off for that. It's not that it was bad, it just wasn't really to my liking. Maybe I picked the wrong flavor? But it definitely was not watered down at all so that's a plus. I can see why so many locals have been coming here for years. I will be back if I'm in the area again.

Cute little donut shop with fast service, great donuts and more! I got a dozen donuts and a bacon, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. The donuts were all fresh and yummy! The sandwich was meh...not enough bacon, a bit too much cheese, and way too greasy. It didn't taste bad, but I definitely won't be getting their breakfast sandwiches again. I will be back for donuts, though!

I ate the mini cream filled donuts so this is my go to!

Love there donuts! Always fresh and delicious! I personally love dunking my donut in hot black coffee and totally digging the mini cream filled donuts! Great customer service they make you feel right at home and they do remember there reoccurring customers!

The matcha flavor came through really well, and it had a good balance of sweetness without overpowering the matcha itself. I also tried the Dubai Chewy Cookie because I was curious about the flavor. I know banana isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea because it has such a distinct flavor, but I really love how they construct this drink. You can genuinely taste the banana, and I love that it seems like they use real banana rather than that artificial banana flavor you get at some other cafés. It makes such a difference! I've also tried their coffee, and it's really good! Their coffee has a nice, strong flavor and doesn't taste watered down at all. I feel like they're probably more known for their matcha, but their coffee definitely deserves some love too. I've tried matcha from a lot of different places, including spots in LA, and while everyone has their own preferences, if you're in the Orange County area, I would definitely recommend giving Coffee & a try. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but personally, this is one of my favorite cafés. It has that cute little hole-in-the-wall feeling where you find a place that you just want to keep coming back to. The service is also amazing! Everyone I've interacted with has been super nice and welcoming, which honestly makes the experience even better. As for the pastries, they're really good too! They'll warm them up for you, and they have the cutest cookies that look like little cartoon characters. They sometimes have seasonal cookies as well, which I think is such a cute touch. Overall, I really love how much personality this café has. If you're a matcha lover in OC, I definitely recommend stopping by and trying it for yourself!

Most everything costs between $3-5. What a steal! I ordered their new item -- a banana latte made with their own banana syrup and cold foam to go with a double shot of espresso. This really fit the "woke up on the wrong side of the bed" vibe that we all tend to joke with our friends and family lol. Whew. Understood it's never personal, as we're all strangers, but those hostile, uninviting, bad energy really rubs off on people. Came in for a birthday cake 2 weeks ago and this came bagged up at the order pick up station; the same birthday cake I got today for another loved one didn't come bagged, so after the gal who took my order left for the next guest, I asked the cashier (she had on a different color shirt) for the very big bags they have and yep, same no energy, no smiles vibe. Management, please look out for your team, or find ways to relocate non-customer service people into departments where they don't have to deal with people/face to face interactions. I'm surprised they don't have self ordering kiosks, that'd help a lot of "stressed" employees who don't have the capacity to provide basic customer service and to alleviate a lot of uncomfortable, hostile interactions. Porto's is great- food, pastries, and cakes hardly ever miss. It's always the human interaction part that really messes it up for companies of all sorts. Nothing personal, just sharing my very uncomfortable experience, talk about being unwelcome. Hope those 2 girls end up having a better day and finding their energy and smiles. Actually, shout out to the gal stationed at the entryway, she smiled and said good morning, welcome, hello to everyone walking in. Keep up the great attitude, thank you!

Lately, Dubai chocolate cookies have been extremely popular and trendy, so I asked whether this bakery had them. They said yes, so I bought one for $6.75. However, when I tried it this morning, it was absolutely not a Dubai chocolate cookie. It was basically just a chocolate pie. There was no pistachio flavor at all, and no pistachios inside--just a very ordinary chocolate pie. That part was extremely disappointing. Also, yesterday I asked the bakery if they could provide paper plates so we could cut and share the pastries, but she said they didn't have any. Other bakeries usually provide paper plates, so it was disappointing as well.
