There's outdoor seating too if you don't want to wait for indoors. I ordered the hazelnut iced coffee which was creamy and refreshing. My country fried steak was so incredibly tender and I loved that the gravy wasn't overly salted like other restaurants. My husband's Philly cheesesteak looked amazing as well and he finished it all! The wait staff is attentive and kind, frequently asking if we were enjoying our meal. If you want a no frills just solid quality breakfast (or lunch), this is the spot. It's a small hidden spot in Hayward. Amy's grill & cafe has one of the best brunches I had in the east bay. I wanted a chill spot to hang out, and saw there were waffles. So, of course, have to stop by here. Friendly workers. There's indoor & outdoor seating. Decided to seat outside in the shade under the trees. Fortunately, not too busy when I went on Tuesday 11:30amish for breakfast. Ordered: -#6 Eggs Milan (with included hashbrown and choice of toasts.) loved that it had pesto sauce on it, too. -Apple cinnamon waffles (with sautéed apples, cinnamon sugar spice and whipped cream, maple syrup on the side). Absolutely wonderful! Amy's Grill and Cafe is a self-seating diner style place, the decor and style is so cute and the staff are kind and inviting. Theres outside and inside seating that are very comfortable. Bathroom is available, its through the kitchen so just ask staff when you need it. There is a very chill playlist providing some ambiance buts its the perfect volume so you can still speak with friends Today I got the monster chili fries, a linguica sausage, a coco mocha (hot chocolate), a coffee and caramel banana waffle. I haven't been to Amy's Grill & Cafe since I hung out with family friends several years ago. I got kinda lost looking for it when it's sitting in the middle of the shopping center. The place is really small though. I saw a family that had to sit in a small table, but thankfully they moved to a larger one since customers from that table left. They do have a patio but it's cold outside. Obviously no one wants to sit outside. It's also nice that almost every table has condiments for us to use. The food is good though. The syrup's viscosity is very thick and slow, which is something that I've never experienced. The pancakes are quite fluffy. The sausages and eggs are alright. Because the place is small with less seats, it can be hectic during peak hours. Highly recommend to go through takeout if possible. If you still want to dine here especially indoors, you'll have to wait longer. read more

We came here on a Sunday morning for brunch. There is both indoor and outdoor seating and plenty of parking since it is part of a larger complex. There was a bit of a wait for indoor seating as it was raining the day we went so no one was sitting outside. The wait ended up being around 10 to 15 minutes. Once the waitlist moved we were seated pretty quickly. The indoor space is not huge but it feels cozy and the staff kept everything moving without making it feel rushed. I ordered the California omelet with home fries and it was delicious. I did expect the portion to be a little bigger but the omelet was packed with avocado and had great seasoning. The home fries were cooked really well and had good flavor. It comes with two slices of toast and I chose sourdough which made it a good combination. The people I was with ordered the bagel sandwich and the burger. They said both were really good and everything came out hot and fresh. DECENT, LIGHT BREAKFAST I ate here twice. The first time was on a Sunday. Before coming to Amy's Grill & Cafe I previewed the menu. One item that stood was the chicken apple sausage omlette. When the omelette was served I noticed the cheese with a bright yellow color, which concerned me. However the omelette was light with a moist chicken apple sausage. I ordered my hash brown well done, but I liked how the hashbrowns weren't burnt had a golden, brown color on the outside. In the past when I request to have my hashbrowns cooked well done sometimes they taste burnt, but not the hashbrowns I ate at Amy's Grill & Cafe. The second time I ate at Amy's Grill & Cafe was several days later. I knew what I wanted to order - cinnamon apple waffle. I was hoping that waffle with the cinnamon would be similar to churros in texture. I expected the waffle to crispy on the outside, but it was soft. The cinnamon apple topping didn't make the waffle heavy. Overall I was slightly disappointed with the cinnamon apple waffle. The bacon was a nice side order to compliment the waffle. During my two visits at Amy's Grill & Cafe I enjoyed my breakfast dishes. I expected more especially with the chicken sausage omelette and cinnamon apple waffle. They had 2 customers already seated when we arrived. We had the option to sit any were since it had plenty of open seats. We sat inside and they have seats outside if you prefer. This is a small cafe located by Sonic in Hayward. It's not part of the strip mall, kind of on the island in the middle of the parking lot. It's cute! Great atmosphere. Nice outdoor seating. Inside fits about 25 people but laid out nicely. The service was awesome. We were greeted with a smile and manners by this young man. We were seated right away. The food was good. I had corn beef hash with eggs and hash brown. And it was all cooked exactly the way I want it. Service was friendly during our meal. Prices were reasonable. I recommend this place. read more

Look, before I was introduced to Amy's, I was NOT a breakfast person. Whatsoever. Did not care about breakfast. at all. Now, I am planning my next meal at Amy's. While I am eating at Amy's. That's how addicted I am! And at one point, I was dragging the boyfriend here every weekend! It's a little hole in the wall place and sometimes if you get lucky, your meal will be made by the one and only chef Amy. The menu is pretty extensive. There are also sandwiches and burgers. In addition to your typical breakfast food like pancakes, waffles, and omelettes. My usual is the cowboy Benny style biscuit and gravy. It's like your usual biscuit and gravy but enhanced with a pair of Benedict style egg, topped with crispy bacon bits and a side of the homestyle potatoes, which are very crispy and delicious. In fact, this meal is so scrumptious that I get sad when I'm about to finish the meal because I want to keep eating it lmao. Boyfriend usually gets their omelettes. It's a very well rounded meal and a great way to start off your day. Also, their black coffee is on another level. I swear! Every time we come here, we're always so amazed at how they brew their coffee. The flavor is on point. There's no bitter taste. And it's very smooth. And very caffeinated. This small café has a very cozy feel where seating is first come, first serve. I'd say the portions are smaller compared to other breakfast and lunch spots, but still filling. I got the turkey melt sandwich and a side salad; the sandwich comes in sourdough sliced bread with turkey, melted swiss cheese, tomato, dijon mustard, and mayonnaise (I also asked to add lettuce). The sourdough bread was seasoned and toasted very well, with a nice crunch :) and the dijon mustard added a much needed kick to the sandwich! Amy's Grill has been around FOREVER. This was my first time visiting and they were pretty solid. There was a short wait but not more than 10 minutes. It was a gloomy Saturday, about 10:30am. By the time my parents and I left there were maybe 3 parties waiting. There were a lot of regulars that came to pick up food orders. All greeted by name. The dining area is small, clean, and has lots of natural light since they have the two huge windows. It's nothing fancy, but has a very homey feel. My parents enjoyed their everything omelette with fruit. I got the Swiss mushroom burger. When I saw the mushrooms were really cooked down I didn't really like that, but it turned out to be pretty good. They did forget the Swiss, but I didn't even miss it. I didn't even notice until after I was done. I didn't have any problem with it, but might be worth mentioning that the garlic used was the minced garlic from the jar. We were greeted immediately upon walking up and were allowed to choose our own seating. Waitress immediately went over to take our drink orders but gave us more time as we were not ready. It took a little while for her to come back to take our order, but our food came out promptly. It was very delicious but the portion size is not so great. The French toast are smaller than im used to and with how delicious it was, I was left wanting more. The milkshake was lacking. It just tasted like vanilla ocre cream mixed with chocolate syrup to get the chocolate flavor, with was subpar at best. We set outside which was a little chilly but cute and spacious. Our waitress was kind enough but never came back to check on us and when we asked her on two separate occasions for extra utensils and a straw, she never came back to deliver so that we had to flag someone else over to get them, as well as the check. A small, cozy spot for local families. My job requires me to be on the road and often times I look for spots in random neighborhoods for a quick lunch. More often than not, The solution is fast food but I've been making an extra effort to locate mom and Pop shops so at least my burger is fresh! I've always seen this place for years and never really stopped by. One day I decided to take my mom out to brunch and we settled on this place because we needed to grocery shopping. My mom likes diners or something similar to this place. This place is pretty small, but hella charming. You can tell already by the people and the building that the food is going to smack.
