I've been to the ventura blvd location and this is the smaller version of it, but is equally amazing!!! It is a Tuesday night and I just got off from work. I didn't feel like cooking since I worked 12 hours today. I felt like having Thai food; sure thing my husband calls me and suggests to dine here. As soon as we opened the door to the restaurant, we were greeted with a warm welcome and a smile. Gosh, I needed that so bad( since I had been dealing with a narcissistic boss)!!! Everything inside was simple, nice and clean. In the background plays a classical music which is so relaxing. Our wait staff took care of us the entire time-even wrapped our to-gos so neatly for us(talking about good service)! I would definitely recommend this place! The food looks better than its taste... we ordered 4 dishes and one sticky rice and one bowl of steamed rice. To start I expect rice to be a fresh bowl not just lukewarm old rice when ordering and paying for plain rice. Maybe my expectations were too high. I was so excited to try a new Thai restaurant that I can add to the already three that I love going to in the valley. We ordered a papaya salad, Bangkok barbecue pork, filet mignon, green beans, mango fish. We asked for all four dishes to be extra spicy, and no heat was felt by any of the dishes. They all seem to have a very similar flavoring no dishes tasted any different from the others. None of the dishes tasted "bad" but none were memorable where I would like to go again. Anantra, a Thai restaurant in the valley is located on De Soto and you will find it if you are traveling south on the street, just after Nordhoff. It revolves around the Thai bistro concept and is actually a nice, warm and cozy place. The menu here has numerous enticing selections. It is not large, but it is also not small. They, unlike other Thai restaurants, also carry a limited Ramen noodle menu. Once again, I was here for a carryout. From the lunch special, my choice was the Pepper Garlic Beef, a concoction I have never had at this restaurant (generally go for their fish). For rice, my selection was white and it is also accompanied with their salad (which by the way, is always delivers). So how was the beef dish? While the meat was tender and tasty, their beef pieces are always presented as large slices. As such, it is difficult to eat (unless you have a big mouth, LOL) and I have to always re slice them before consumption. There was a huge amount of small garlic pieces, all even in size, and distributed all over the beef (see my pictures). Suggesting that it could be out of one of those preserved chopped garlic bottles, you find at several of the grocery stores. No question, it did provide a lower dimension of taste. A friend and I tried Anantra restaurant for lunch - and very much enjoyed it. It was super busy - we got the last open table. We ordered tom yum soup with chicken (delicious), seafood pad thai (my friend said it was tasty) and lunch special orange chicken (very good and a generous portion but was a bit too sweet for my taste. Very friendly service and a small(ish) parking lot in the front. Highly recommend, and I will definitely be back for the soup. read more

Craving thai my friend and I met up to get in our much needed girls time. They have a lunch special as well as many items to choose from on the menu. I'm prone to getting pad thai at new places but I opted to try out the soup as it was a cold and chilly day out. I got the Tom Yum noodle soup (veggie) and it was delicious and gluten free. Also their menu indicates allergies as well as spice levels which was extremely helpful when picking out something new to try. My friend got the lunch special tempura style shrimp and veggies (comes with rice and a salad) as well as a glass of r hai ice tea. Service was great, wait time for our food was fast. As a very big Thai food fan with my husband and seeing the reviews , we wanted to try Anatra . It is very close to our house, and was a quick skip from work during lunch break. The ambiance is pretty and really beautiful, the service as well. The ladies were keep making sure that everything was well or if we needed anything.(which is great & very kindly :-)) Coming to the food.. it was really good. But one thing discomforting, was the beef in glass noodles. It tastes very different and a funny way, which was not pleasant . I had to pass it and stick only to the noodles. It is really a nice place, that you should try. But for me, maybe next time I should try another dish :) read more

The ingredients to every food is FRESH. The ambiance inside is very clean, relaxing and suitable for a simple yet relaxing lunch or dinner date. I love a good lunch special, and after living here for so many years, this was my first trip to Thai Anantra. I tried the sesame shrimp, which is #12 on their specials menu. It comes with rice and a salad, and at $12.95, it's definitely a steal. I also ordered their Thai tea, which looked absolutely beautiful, and I couldn't wait to mix it up. I absolutely love Anantra! Though I have not dined in therefore this review is based off of take out. I work nearby and when I'm feeling Thai food this place is always my go-to. I don't think I've ever been to a Thai food place that has crispy chicken with pad Thai! This place is a winner for me, I always recommend it to coworkers and others to try it out and they come back thanking me for telling them about this place. The staff is very friendly every time I come pick up, even though they are always busy, they have a smile on their face. If you are looking for a great Thai food spot in the North West Valley, check out Anantra Thai. There are many Thai food places in the valley, (we are lucky) but some are better than others, some not so good. But Anantra is one of the best ones out there. They are also open 7 days a week to get it anytime you crave it. Their pricing is typical of most of the Thai places out there. The restaurant itself is very nice inside and out, there is plenty of seating inside, decorated very nicely. They have a private parking lot as well. They are usually pretty busy with take out as well as in restaurant dinning, but the service is still reasonably fast. Good food takes time to make, so please be patient, it's worth it. We got Pad see you, Devil noodles, prik king, broccoli with oyster sauce and an order of Tom yum soup. Everything was flavored nicely and a good amount of spice. We asked to have medium spice, I prefer more spice, but had to keep the family in mind. The one thing they don't have which is a bit of a bummer is they do not have the garlic red chili sauce that you typically see at Thai restaurants, they do give you sriracha sauce, which is an ok substitution, but not the same as the garlic red chili sauce. I like to hit it with the chili sauce and mini jalapeño's to spice it up. They also serve beer and wine when dining in. Bonus tip: if you are dining in, you can check in on Yelp and get a free Thai iced tea as well. Enjoy! read more

First time to dine in here and we had a great experience. Ambiance was great. Food was perfectly executed and it was tasty and the presentation was appetizing. The place was small so you can't throw large parties.... The servers were nice. Second time we patronized this place was a to go order. The Pad Thai was great but the chicken Larb was ok. I'm always on the look out for good Larb so that's how heavily I judge the establishment. Not going to knock it. Maybe it's just because it was a to go and an off day. Solid Thai Spot around the area. The ambiance is so cute, the place is so clean and the presentation of the dishes is gorgeous. They have an extensive menu full of Thai traditional dishes. I did enjoy my chicken satay though the pieces could have been a little thicker but the flavor was on point. I'd say the places is more for the Thai American palette than the Thai flavors you would find in Thai street food/hole in the wall places. Amazing little spot! Would've never expected it, especially since the location seems a bit random, but nonetheless this place is great! Great Thai food spot in Canoga Park. I like how the place looks. It has modern touch to it. As for the food, I think it's great! I grew up going to eat at Thai restaurants. I might not be an "expert", but I think this place is good. I usually get the tom yum soup from here, with a side of steam white rice. Their pad Thai is great too. I like that it already comes with chicken and shrimp and you don't have to pay for extra protein. They have a great salad called the naked shrimp salad, which I love. Very disappointed. Their website clearly states they are open until 9:40 PM, but when I arrived at 9:00 PM yesterday, I was told by the woman in charge that they were already closed. It's incredibly frustrating to drive out based on their posted hours only to be turned away nearly 40 minutes early. If you're going to change your hours, update your site. The overall fav was the surf and turf fried rice: Diced filet mignon and shrimp, bell pepper, onion, cashew nut with garlic sriracha sauce on top yellow rice. Yummm! I love this place, the food quality is extremely good and they are very good about preparing the food in a timely manner. The coconut soup is freaking amazing, the pineapple rice is my favorite here, and they also have amazing pad Thai, so you just choose and they will nail it every time in my opinion. We were a party of five and planned to try this restaurant out. I always Yelp every place before entering and it was 5 stars! We walked in after reading the ratings. No problem. We were sharing a few items. I have a shrimp allergy so I couldn't share some items. I ordered the Pad Thai with chicken, Buddha salad to share. I loved the flavor of the noodles. Salad was nice with the tasty peanut dressing. Edamame was good to munch on. The other couple had Devil noodles and Anger beef salad and Tom Yum Noodle soup. They said it was great. We've probably ordered from here 10-12 times and I'm not sure we will again. Ordered pad-see-you and massaman curry with brown rice directly through their website, which is usually how we order. This was my first time eating the massaman curry from Anantra. The flavor was good, but usually when I order massaman curry it has carrots in addition to the potato, onion, and peanuts. This is just potato, onion, and peanuts. No carrots, no tomato, no peppers. Kind of expensive for what you get- the curry with brown rice was $17.99. My husband's pad-see-you, on the other hand, was almost inedible. This is his go-to dish and all he ever orders. It was very clearly microwaved. The noodles were stuck together in clumps and half of the dish was hot and half of the dish was cold. This dish has never been like this from Anantra or elsewhere. The stuck-together noodles and the uneven heating screams microwaved. We called and the response was kind of just, sorry, we'll make sure it's better next time. Also we ordered right when they opened for dinner so idk why they'd need to be microwaving or reheating food. Probably not going back. read more
