We were excited to come for their summer 2026 DineLA menu for an early dinner. From the time we sat down to when someone came to our table to ask if we wanted drinks took almost 30 minutes. We were on the fence if we should leave or not because it looked like they were having an important, impromptu meeting because you can see mostly everyone wearing a denim shirt in the kitchen corner. The timing for someone to ask if we wanted drinks or had questions of the menu was off putting. Once we finally had service, the food came promptly and it was delicious but it took awhile for our drinks to come because we had already finished our apps and halfway through our entrees. I have always enjoyed their happy hours here and the hours are: M-F 3-6PM, at the bar and high bar top tables. I like their garlic soup extra hot, the spicy rigatoni vodka pasta with Italian sausage, squid ink pasta with calamari and shrimp, and I don't remember which one I liked more or if I like both as well: the bolognese or the braised short rib. I'm sure you cannot go wrong trying both though. I also enjoy coming for their DineLA, so this one experience is probably just a one off. read more

Hit and miss. My friend and I went to the Torrance location a while back and loved it. So we picked Canoga Park North Italia since it was more convenient this time around. Sadly, it didn't live up to the Torrance one. We came in a Sunday afternoon for lunch. My friend ordered a Magherita pizza, the server asked if she wanted tie dye sauce on it or bomba sauce. She said no, she likes it plain. I ordered the summer special that comes with app and entree. We waited a while and service was very slow that day. We sat a while waiting for food. Water was a bit slow to refill as well, it was especially noticeable since the food took so long. Once food came out, the pizza had tie dye sauce all over it. My friend said she'd take it but she wasn't too happy. We had been waiting a while already and we were v hungry, so waiting longer for a new pizza was not an option. She scraped the sauce off and I felt super bad for her. They didn't offer anything for getting her order wrong. I got the bolognese pasta and it was SALTY. I love their bolognese, I got it at Torrance location too. This spot oversalted it though. Again, so hungry that i didn't want to send it back and wait for a new dish. Then my app came, the meatballs. This was delicious, def order these. Summer specials is a good deal! When we were done, the server brought the check to the table yet asked me to go to the pay stand with her and stand there as she checked me out. Not sure why she didn't just take my card or bring her little POS machine to the table. It felt so awkward to stand there along with the other servers watching her run my card through the terminal while my friend was sat at the table. I love you North Italia, just maybe not this Topanga one. From messing up our order, to over salting a staple dish, and lastly strange slow service that didn't makeup for getting our order wrong, leads me to avoid you. First time stopping in and was glad we did. We've walked past a bunch of times but went in today and tried the garlic truffle bread, the gem Caesar salad, and the chicken Parmesan. The price was a little more expensive than other Italian places, but not insanely expensive. The bread was delicious, one of the best garlic breads we've had for sure. The gem Caesar salad was refreshing and flavorful. The chicken Parmesan was very good, along with the Parmesan rigatoni. The best part was that we split all plates and it was more than enough food. Typically when we split plates, we leave the restaurant a little hungry but not here. We'll be back and I want to try the vodka rigatoni! read more

This place is becoming our favorite - if not only - choice now for sporadic work dinners. 9 of us came tonight and everything was fantastic. Great service from Jasmine. Super friendly, attentive, great at explaining the dishes and letting us know what wasn't available. I got the bolognese and it was delicious. A couple beers from an impressive drink menu. 9 of us ended up getting $533 worth of food and we think it was well worth it for the quality and quality of food we got, the great service and the lovely ambiance of the restaurant. Made from scratch daily! Wow, everything we had here was amazing. We came by on a Sunday around 4:30pm and they were already out of a few items, so do come early to make sure you can order your first choice. Sadly, two of the main dishes we actually wanted to try were 86'd for the day , but I guess that just means they are THAT good (the Sunday Night Lasagne and Ricotta Cavatelli) Ok so first off the restaurant itself is very pretty and open. The bar area which allows you to sit on either side- indoor or outdoor is a nice touch. For the appetizers, we tried the calamari and the grilled bread (they were out of house made focaccia). For $5 you can add a side of whipped ricotta topped with pistachios, honey, balsamic, olive oil. GET THIS! Delicious. The calamari was also very good- super light crispy batter. For the entrees, we ordered our second choice items- Spicy Rigatoni Vodka and strozzapreti. The pasta is FRESH and cooked perfectly. The flavor profiles on both also hit the mark The margherita pizza is also good- the dough is thin and not too saucy. Just right! If you are going to order dessert, you must order the butter cake. It's seasonal so they switch it up about every three months but I have no doubt that whatever version they have it will be a winner. This time is Banana caramel and OMG sooo good. That buttery caramel stole the show- not too sweet. This was a crowd favorite. Will definitely need to come back to try our first choice items and honestly I hope it's soon! read more

Such a great spot! I enjoyed all the food I got here. I recommend making a reservation so you don't have to wait long. North Italia at Westfield Topanga is bringing serious Italian flavor to the Valley, and after this meal it's easy to see why it's a standout in the area. I've been to the other North Italia location as well and this one is right on par -- consistent quality across the board. We started with the White Truffle Garlic Bread ($16.50) and it did not disappoint -- soft, pillowy, and absolutely amazing, with that white truffle aroma hitting you before the first bite even happens. A must-order starter. We also added the Caesar Salad, which was fresh, crispy, and dressed with an amazing dressing that elevated the whole dish. For mains we had the Braised Short Rib Lumache and the Chicken Parmesan ($28.50). The short rib was delicious, prepared more in a ragu style with the meat shredded throughout the pasta. The flavor was outstanding, though personally I'd have preferred bigger, more substantial pieces of short rib rather than the ragu style presentation. Still a great dish overall. The Chicken Parmesan, though, is where this meal really shined -- one of the best chicken parms in the city. Juicy on the inside, perfectly crispy on the outside, and smothered in a rich marinara with melted cheese. This dish alone is worth coming back for. The service was outstanding -- every single person we interacted with was knowledgeable, attentive, and a genuine pleasure to deal with. The environment is welcoming and well designed, and they seated our party of 6 with ease, no hassle at all. Prices are on the higher side, but you genuinely get what you pay for here -- the quality, portion sizes, and overall execution justify the cost. North Italia is doing Italian food right, and the quality across every dish we tried was consistently excellent. There are several reasons I joined Yelp and post reviews regularly. Chief amont them is to help the hospitality industry during difficult times, as those we have been in for a few years now. I try to focus, whenever possible, on niche places, Mom & Pop spots, one-offs because they work hard to make life interesting for the rest of us. But, every so often I run into a chain that is so spectacular that I cannot resist returning to it again and again. One of the very best nation-wide chain restaurants is North Italia, with over 50 across the country. And, the one at the Westfield Mall, Topanga is a great example of why that is. First, it is sunny, spacious, and airy during the day. One whole wall is open and people can be seated at the bar both inside and outside on the dining patio. Inside are tall ceilings and multiple seating options. I particularly like high-top tables. There was catchy dance music popping over our heads in an upbeat way, the whole time. And every surface was immaculate. Second, the service is literally over the top. We had no fewer than five people taking care of us, even the bussers were friendly and attentive. Next, is the menu. There are quite a few familiar items but many that I don't think I have seen elsewhere. There is a lot for vegetarians and even vegans. You can view my photos for the choices we made, which was hard because there were many dishes I wanted to try. Finally, there is the quality of the food. It was all superb, every single item. Nothing needed to be any better -- it was among the best I have had anywhere. All in all, we had a delightful experience and one I plan to repeat. First time dining at North Italia. I had such high hopes that the food and pasta was going to be amazing given that they make their pasta fresh daily. I decided to order my main food from the Dine LA Menu. We started with an order of the home-made Focaccia bread. It was basic. It looked better than it tasted considering it had a ton of oil on top. Next up was a Chopped Caesar Salad which was doused in dressing. A lot of dressing! I only ate a small portion of the salad. The flavor of the dressing was ok. Had a strong Anchovy flavor. My husband had the Simple Salad and he said the same thing about it having way too much dressing on it. We ordered the Crispy Eggplant Parmesan appetizer which was very oily. My main dish was the Bolognese with Tagliatelle pasta. The pasta was over cooked. The Bolognese was mid-level. Not the worst and not the best I've ever had. For dessert I opted for the Tiramisu. Sadly, it was so dry!!!! Not sure what happened there. Our server Mark was very attentive and very nice. The food came out in a timely manner and I feel everyone who helped serve our table did a nice job. The restaurant itself is very beautiful. It's a rather large restaurant. I enjoy going to North Italia at the Topanga Mall. Food is very good and the vibe is lively and fun. I do however want to revise my original review to update my fellow yelpers on a couple of important things. My impressions of the location, venue, food and drinks have not changed. You can read more about them in my original review further down below: Service 3 stars (down from 4): Completely server-dependent. Our last visit unfortunately received slow and infrequent attention. Our server was friendly and polite but not as attentive as one needs to be in an upscale restaurant. Management 2 stars: I was disappointed that on the check they recommend the tip amount based on the total after tax, which is not correct. Tipping is customarily calculated based on the total before tax. Some restaurants have been trying to do this recently which I find misleading and I will be calling them out on it. I have posted a picture of the check. The Bottom Line 3 stars: The food and drinks are still delicious! North Italia is one of my comfort food destinations when looking for no nonsense, delicious modern/American Italian food nearby with a trendy and upscale vibe. Short rib lasagna is to die for! Short rib was tender and tons of flavor. Shrimp scampi appetizer was delicious and had large shrimp! Lots of fork tender garlic cloves but not overwhelming at all. Even the bread it came with was lightly toasted and soft in the middle. The portions were good, they don't skimp! Service was great even though they were busy. We didn't wait that much to receive our food. Our server was friendly and courteous. They also have a full bar and some TVs playing the game of the day. I liked the music they were playing. It was a little loud because of how many customers were in there but it was dinner and NYE so that was to be expected. Went for Mother's Day and wow it was packed! But service was still what we needed. We ordered the yellowtail crudo which was generously portioned and a different take on what I usually expect with yellowtail appetizers. I liked it! This place has the best vibes. Located in a big mall. When you enter, you give your name and number to be added to the waiting list. There is no confirmation text though. We were told the wait would be about 10-20min on a Saturday evening so we walked around the mall in the meantime. We went back after 20 min to check and we're seated shortly after. This was before we got a text so always good to check in every once in awhile. The restaurant was clean and the staff were all very nice. We had the calamari appetizer and I got the bolognese. Although North Italia can get busy, especially in the evenings, we arrived just after the lunch rush. We were welcomed in the restaurant by friendly attendants and asked if we preferred inside or patio seating. Bar seating is also available. Our server, Scylis, was cordial and very efficient. We enjoyed the Smoked Salmon Avocado Toast, Little Gem Ceasar salad and Shrimp Scampi Pasta. Our selections arrived in short order after placing our order. The Smoked Salmon Avocado Toast had a copious amount of smoked salmon topped with arugula, shredded watermelon radish, toasted pine nuts, pickled red onion, caper relish and torn basil on a full grain toasted bread. The generous Little Gem Salad was graced with grated grana padano, herb breadcrumbs, and cracked pepper. An entrée of Shrimp Scampi Pasta was a bowl of impeccable, al dente pappardelle combined with a generous portion of medium-large shrimp spiced with lemon, garlic confit and grana padano. One of my favorite happy hour spots! What's not to love about the Board & Bottle special? I usually go for the margarita pizza and the Chef's Board. But what really made the night stand out was the service. Our waitress, Susie, was AMAZING. Went to North Italia last week to celebrate my birthday. Got a reservation at 7pm on a Saturday night. Unfortunately for me, the Dodgers were also playing Game 2 of the World Series the same night and I'm pretty sure the kitchen was watching the game instead of cooking our dinners lol half kidding but all the food starting coming out after they won. The chef was wearing a Dodgers jersey, go figure To start off we ordered drinks, I got the New Italian Spritz and my boyfriend got the Alta Rossa. They were both very well made, were equally good and strong. No notes. For food, we ordered some items per our server's recs. He highly recommended the White Truffle Garlic Bread and the Chicken Pesto. We also ordered the Tuscan Kale salad and the Braised Short Rib Marsala. Unfortunately it took 40 minutes for our salad to arrive. Was it the best salad I've ever had in my life? Actually probably. But we didn't get any of the food we ordered for another hour. Our server offered us free bread and olive oil for the inconvenience which we said yes to. The bread was cold :( People around us started getting irate and started leaving. There's only so much cold bread can help with. The food did eventually arrive an hour and a half later. The chicken pesto was yummy albeit a little salty and the pasta had gone past al dente. The braised short rib marsala though? Perfect every time. The carrots are a lil too crunchy but maybe that's a personal preference. We had to cancel the white truffle garlic bread because it never arrived. Our server apologized profusely for most of the night. For my birthday dessert, I got the brookie sundae that truly healed my inner child. They have the crunchy chocolate things I only ever get at pinkberry. I've always loved North Italia ever since we went to the El Segundo location for the first time years ago. I do really hope this was a one time fluke and that the place isn't losing sight of its service standard. Interiors are still beautiful and the place is lovely. It was comfortable and modern. We had a really great waiter, Julian. He was very helpful, informative, and patient with us. My friend and I got the chefs board to share which is basically a charcuterie board. There were a few things that we didn't want and Julian was very kind and able to tailor the board to what we wanted. We really loved it. I ordered the meatballs for my appetizer. I was so surprised at how good they were. They were very flavorful, a good size, and I really really liked the sauce that they were in. My main dish was a steak salad it was absolutely beautiful and tasted very fresh and delicious. For dessert I had chocolate gelato. So yummy. It would be a pleasure to award North Italia five stars, but there were some little irritants that have me dropping down to four stars, and not rounding up, but rather down. We tried it out for the first time on Saturday evening at 8:30 p.m. with a reservation. Although they were busy, they greeted us pleasantly and promptly showed us to a booth table overlooking the large demonstration kitchen. Off to a great start! Oh, but then, one of the pull-out chairs at the outside of the table had a fair amount of crumbs on the chair. It looked like a child had left behind pieces of crackers, perhaps? Why that wasn't noticed and handled when the table was cleaned in between guests didn't make for a good look. I even mentioned it to the host who showed us to the table. He thanked me for pointing it out, but no one ever came to clean it. Little things matter, especially at their price point and presentation in a lovely setting. Dear Hubby and I have been to North Italia at their El Segundo location a number of times, and enjoyed it very much. We had even taken Adored Grandson there years ago, so when we saw that there was a location on Topanga we were excited for the three of us to try this one. What I recall from past visits was that bread service was included. At least I thought it was? Now, "no bread for you" without a special order, and it's not inexpensive at all. The "Grilled Bread & Good Olive Oil" at $9.50 for four smallish pieces - I'd recommend passing. It was good, but not at that price point. The taste also wasn't that memorable. Our server was great - just the right amount of attention paid to us throughout the meal. From our vantage point I could see almost the entire restaurant. They have a LOT of staff working, or they did on a Saturday evening. With that amount of personnel, it would seem to me that every detail should be handled. That's why the small things were adding up to annoy me. Like the crackers on the chair seat, or plates not cleared by a busser more rapidly. Water not being refilled. We ordered calamari for the table as a starter. It was only the ring style and it was more chewy than the ideal texture. I didn't care for one of dipping sauces, and the other was just okay to me. I wouldn't re-order this dish. It also came with a side of pickled veggies, which only DH liked. $19.50 for a dish that wasn't a hit - not so great. The guys had ordered an 805 beer each, and I chose to have pineapple juice, which came in a small cocktail glass. I didn't see the price, but I suspect that it wasn't a good value. The kitchen picked it up a notch on the entrees. DH and I split the Lumache alla Norcina, substituting the creamy sauce for marinara as I have to avoid cow's milk dairy, especially in cheeses. The split plate amount was just the right amount of food. One disappointment was that it wasn't really garnished. It should have had some Parmesan shavings, and at this kind of place I'd expect some other bit of visual and taste enhancement. That it was lacking made me also think that they could do better. The pasta was prepared to perfect al dente texture. The fennel sausage was delicious, so those were plusses. After that I was happy to sit back and enjoy the ambiance of the dining room space with its high ceilings, accents of green plants, and stunning lighting. We decided to have dessert, and that became the start of the evening for me. There was a small mix-up in that regard as AG was debating between ordering an after dinner drink OR a dessert, and the server misunderstood him and brought him both. AG & DH both ordered the Jump Start - double espresso, chocolate, cream, shaken & served cold. AG added a shot of Bailey's to his and said it was like a creamy adult milkshake. My dessert choice was the Seasonal Butter Cake. For the fall harvest season it was (no surprise) pumpkin as the main flavoring, with just an amazing amount of spices that brought it vivid life. It was one of the top five desserts of my lifetime. Honestly so! The first bite brought the most delectable flavor burst, which blew me away in the best possible way. AG was served a chocolate hazelnut concoction which was also quite delicious. We all shared. The pumpkin cake, though. . .mmmm! We have dear friends who live close to this North Italia. Can't wait to recommend it to them, and to plan a meal there together. Finally came to check it out here. It's beautiful inside and outside in the patio. The bar sits between inside and outside. We came on a Saturday night around 7pm and it was already crowded but we got seated right away. Our waitress was nice and welcoming. However, our food did take a while to come out. It probably took like half an hr after ordering. We got the Cacio E Pepe pizza, chicken Parmesan and lasagna. The pizza was a little too thin but it good with the mushrooms. My chicken Parmesan came with a side pasta which I enjoyed all of it. My fiance got the lasagna and he wasn't too impressed because it didn't any layers to it and a little too heavy on the cheese. It tasted good and it was hot but def expected more of the lasagna pasta and less cheese. It might be tough to find parking since it's at the Topanga mall but there valet as well. I'm glad I came. If you're looking for American Italian that's quality with variety then this is a good spot. I would come back to try their other dishes read more

I always enjoy bringing friends or family to North Italia in Topanga. Great service and amazing food as always, I got to try brunch recently and I'm looking forward to trying more of the menu. The summer matchup special was such a good deal! I got the charcuterie plate and pasta, and it was such generous serving sizes for 1 person. I ended up taking some of the pasta home. Service was nice and friendly. Even with the bar being quite lively when I went in, service was still quick and friendly. read more

Food is great. They make their own fresh pasta and the pizzas are thin crust. The white truffle garlic bread is fluffy and crunchy - it was really good. The pizzas can be made half and half of something. The bolognese was delicious and al dente. The meatballs were huge, flavorful and was not dry. Our server Jorge O. was super attentive and nice. Had an early lunch with my husband here and we truly enjoyed it. This location has plenty of seating space both inside and outside. The whole restaurant was very clean and well maintained. Our server was wonderful. She was friendly, made good recommendations and checked on us the whole time we were there. I had the Bolognese and my husband had the Stromboli. My Bolognese was so yummy and my husband's Stromboli was delicious. We had the Italian Donuts for dessert and that was good too. Over all a great meal and a wonderful experience. read more

I forgot when the last time I had North Italia but waooo I was impressed all over again. My boyfriend and I ordered the spicy rigatoni pasta and the hot honey & smoked prosciutto pizza. We came around 11AM and there was absolutely no wait. This was conveniently in the shopping mall we were at so we decided to have lunch here. Everything was flavorful and the service was fast and efficient. My favorite was the pizza -- the hot honey, prosciutto, and arugula together was AMAZING. read more

Well placed Italian cuisine that instantly became one of my favorite restaurants inside Westfield Topanga Mall. The must try were Prosciutto Pizza, Chicken Pesto Pasta, Bolognese Pasta, Black Mediterranean Mussels, White Truffle Garlic Bread, Daily Soup, Prosciutto Bruschetta. Service is good and relatively prompt. Ambiance was busy on a weekend. Very convenient location with no issue on parking. read more

Because the selection is so plentiful, I usually prefer to dine at independently owned Italian restaurants in LA. Came to Notth today because we were at the Topanga mall. Started off with light and crispy tempura battered calamari and Hot Honey & Smoked Prosciutto pizza, which really hit the spot. The thin and satisfyingly chewy Neapolitan pizza crust went well with the savory toppings. Follow by al dente and rich spicy rigatoni vodka. The balanced meal featured fresh ingredients, well portioned and at a fair price. Cocktails (espresso martini and aperol spritz) were refreshing and strong. Server was thoughtful and friendly.
