Delicious! Stopped in on a Monday night for a quick bite. Sparse room plus a larger room of to the side. Seems clean and well kept. Service is friendly and quick. I ordered chicken Tikka kebab, lamb curry and palek paneer. All tasty! Chicken was moist and tender served with onion slices lime wedge and plenty of fresh chopped herbs. Lamb had great complex and deep flavor and was nearly falling apart tender. Next time I'll request hotter spice but wasn't at all bland. Palek paneer stole the show. Fantastic flavor, best I've had in years. Spinach was bright and fresh with plenty of warm spices and nice heat level. Cheese firm, well made. I'm already wanting to go back. Was craving for some Indian food the other day and decided to try a new spot... partly because I was tryna be cheap. The stuff here were on average 3-5 dollars cheaper than my other go to but that's because the entree here doesn't come with rice or naan. You have to order them separately. Which was no big deal. Figured they have good review so I gave them a try and I regret it. It's not that the food wasn't good, they just weren't as good as I expected them to be. We ordered a bunch of stuff: Chicken tikka Masala was cool the sauce was flavorful but very oily. Palek paneer which is cheese cube in spinach. The spinach were very mild and the dish could use a little more salt or spice Bengun Berta was good, the eggplant was very flavorful, not too spicy. Mixed veggie korma is a hard pass for us, a bunch of frozen vegetables in a spicy sauce, super super oily. Not good Samosa was great! The flavor and the crust was very good, goes very well with the green sauce The naan was just ok, not good the next day. The garlic naan lacks garlic flavor. Overall, it's an ok Indian place. Food were ok but everything was super oily the next day stuff were just drenched in oil. Smh. Maybe it's covid it's seems to me that the ingredients were all cheap ingredients. I had really high expectations based off reviews and they were not met. The samosas were delicious and perfect in every way (not oily at all). The paneer naan was nothing special. Review #210 - 2018 I had this place bookmarked after seeing a few positive reviews from my fellow Yelp buddies. I happened to be in the area and wasn't in the mood to cook so I decided that it would be a good opportunity to try them out. I placed my order via Yelp Grubhub and a few minutes later, I received a call telling me that the lamb shank I ordered was unavailable since it was a weekend special, which wasn't stated on their menu. The guy recommended another lamb dish, the karahi gosht curry, and I agreed since he said it was very good. I showed up at the restaurant about 45 minutes later and my order was still not ready. I waited another 15 minutes and my order finally came out. The guy gave me my bag and gestured a "bye!", but I decided to ask him what was the price difference since the special was more expensive than the replacement. I don't care for the $2, but I just like honesty in business. If you gave me something cheaper, I'd expect you to give me my money back since I already prepaid online. I was planning to put it in the tip jar anyway; but since I had to ask for it, I decided to buy a mango lassi with it, which ended up giving me this weird feeling in my stomach later. I don't like that he made me felt uncomfortable for asking for my money and he commented that if I decide to order take out next time to call the restaurant directly since they have to pay a fee to Yelp when I use the app. I don't mind helping small businesses save money, but there is a better way to go about it than making your customer feel like they're do you a disservice. Anarkali Halal Restaurant I visited this location expecting the Thai restaurant and instead found Anarkali Halah Restaurant - quite unexpected but I was curious and wanted to try to see if this could be my go-to place for lunch. I sat down until I realized this was a self service place where you order and then wait for the food. The reception was less than friendly as the people at the counter ignored my presence and failed to welcome me and to let me know the ordering process. There were no customers at the time, making me doubt the popularity of the place. Generally in my experience when the restaurant is empty or scant customers, I question the quality and / or value of the restaurant. Nonetheless as I was hungry I ordered Chicken with Okra vegetable and rice which I had to pay separately. The dish was priced reasonably at 10 usd and I had to pay 3 usd for rice. I was given a number on a stand meaning that the food would be delivered to my table. Abut the food: The sauce in the chicken was all mixed and messed so I could not detect the okra. The rice was decent and the serving size was more than adequate. The food tasted bland and I could detect some sweetener. hen I asked to pack my leftover I was provided with one plastic small container. I asked for two containers but only one was provided (as if they were rationing the containers). I discovered that I was given only one paper container (the kind that most Chinese Restaurant provide). I had to go back to get the other container. The interaction of the staff to the customer as far as I was concerned was less than acceptable. For customer service is lacking and if you are there for better treatment and special treatment, I would suggest you think twice. If you are particular to taste real Sub Continent food then I would not recommend this place. Like so many others the food was Americanized. read more

There aren't too many Indian spots in the eaaast east bay so I was glad to find this spot! It is awkward at first because you have to order your food and then find a spot to sit when I expected more of a formal family style service. BUT I'm not complaining. I like how they offer the chai tea for free and they don't put hella sugar so you can sweeten it yourself. Their naan was also fresh and cooked through. My family and I have been to a few places where some of the dough was actually undercooked (ew) I did knock down a star though because I always order something spicy and they just assume I can't handle it or something lol. Had dinner here last night. It was my first time trying this place out as I normally go to naan and curry, but they don't really have outdoor seating. We ordered veggie tikka masala, aloo gobi, rice, samosas, and shrimp tikka masala. When we arrived the place did not look busy but after we ordered things picked up. The food was amazing and the customer service was great compared to naan and curry, but we waited about an hour for our food to come out. Ordered delivery from Anarkali for lunch today. I ordered the chicken Zaffrani biryani rice and the samosas. The chicken biryani didn't hold up when comparing it to other local Burmese/Indian restaurants. The flavor was somewhat bland and although there were large pieces of chicken mixed in with the rice, the chicken was bone-in, which personally, I am not a fan of. I did appreciate that the restaurant included four different dipping sauces. I'm a saucy girl! I like my dipping/mixing sauces. I would also say that I thoroughly enjoyed the samosas. I found Anarkali through Yelp after wanting some Indian food on a random night in the height of the pandemic. Before moving to the Contra Costa County area, we had plenty of options. Not so much when we got here. So finding this place was fortunate, and not just because it's close (downtown concord), but it's also delicious! We haven't found a fish we didn't like. The flavor just wasn't there. The spice was there but no flavor. Also when you order curry it doesn't come with rice... I don't think I've ever been to an Indian restaurant that doesn't give you white rice as a side. Best Indian food in town. It is a similar set-up to Naan and Curry, but has more than enough tables and parking. Not to mention, the food is better and more fresh. There is no buffet; however, the prices are very reasonable. The food comes out in an acceptable time as well. They also have complementary chai. Our favorites are: Lamb Seekh Kabob, Keema Naan, Chicken Tikka Masala, Chana Masala, Aloo Ghobi, Saag Paneer, and Vegetable Korma; we've never had a bad meal.
