The roaches at this place were UNBELIEVABLE!!! I walked in and legit saw 5 looking back at me, went to the owner to say hey, this isn't acceptable, and THEY told me to get f#cked!!! Dismayed & Disappointed by the Tucker Inn We wish we could report that, after many summer stays in Provincetown at a variety of Bed and Breakfast inns, that our experience at this first stay at the Tucker Inn was a pleasure. Based on its reviews and marketing, we hoped that we could add another glowing review once we returned home. What follows is not what we hoped to report. Unfortunately, we were not prepared to - at an average of $415 per night (fee and taxes included) - (a) to feel from the outset that we were intruders and not guests, (b) to stay in a room that did not feel clean, and (c) to eat off of dirty dishes and utensils. Level of Hospitality - Low and sometimes, off-putting: The initial greeting from main innkeeper upon our arrival at check in was ambivalent, at best. Actually, she made us feel as though our arrival was disturbing her from whatever she was doing - and we never were presented with any greeting or sense of "welcome to the Tucker Inn" when we arrived. Most times over the five nights stay, we did not feel particularly welcome guests of the inn. The general attitude of the innkeeper made us feel uncomfortable and intrusive in the space. * Example 1: There is a selection of breakfast foods buffet style but on two occasions we asked for "eggs any style". At least one of these times, the host asked why we don't just eat the eggs with scallions that were put out daily. She seemed bothered by having to fulfill a request to make eggs that did not include scallions. * Example 2: Apparently each Saturday there is a social hour at 5 PM. But nowhere is there any sign to indicate this, so that guests can arrange to attend. And we only found out around 10 AM the day of when the host tossed out, "You know there's a social tonight." Well, we did not know and then had to pry the other details to be in the know. * Example 3: One morning at breakfast, a new face was among the guests. But it was not until several minutes of conversation and us asking, 'where are you from', that the gentlemen finally owned up to being an owner. It felt like we were part of an episode of "Undercover Boss" and, frankly, we have never had an inn owner not introduce himself from the moment of meeting. It felt disingenuous for the proprietor of a hospitality establishment. * Example 4: Every other inn we have stayed at keeps, at a minimum, fresh water available in the common area and most replace water in the room daily. This was not the case with the Tucker Inn. And even if we asked for replacements, we have already shared that any reasonable request felt like an intrusion of the host. * Example 5: The inn was mainly accommodating males during our stay and it was during the first four of five days we experienced this feeling of inconveniencing the host. Curiously on Day five, a group of mainly women arrived and we witnessed an openness and spirit from the host towards them that we, as paying guests, would have appreciated receiving. This gives us even more uncomfortable pause if we read into these dynamics.* *It bears distinguishing that the other two servers at the inn were more engaging and did not seem to mind the few basic requests we had. Cleanliness: It became apparent from the first meal and for each one after that any time we needed a bowl, plate, piece of silverware, mug, or drinking glass, we should expect to search through at least three or four before we might find one that did not have residual food or sediment caked on it. Is offering clean dishware that challenging? Also, the areas where food was presented could have appeared much cleaner. The room smelled somewhat musty when we entered. I cannot say if we got accustomed to it or if it subsided; but musty was the first impression, certainly. And the towels had a number of stains on them, as well. Photographs versus reality: We offer kudos to the Inn for having a good photographer with the ability to use wide angles and bright lights to mask the reality of spaces and lighting. This is one area where we can agree this is a fairly common practice in the industry. But, as is often common in the industry, the room was nowhere as specious or accommodating as the photos could lead one to believe. In summary - while previous reviews may have enjoyed their stay at the Tucker Inn - and these are the reviews we relied heavily upon when selecting the inn - ,for the avoidance of doubt , we were quite disappointed and believe we should share our experiences with our friends and family and social media outlets. It is with great regret that we cannot recommend this inn to anyone visiting Provincetown. read more

I loved staying at this comfortable and friendly inn in Provincetown. It was the best inn that I have stayed at in 7 visits to Ptown. The hosts are friendly, good cooks, and willing to help you with whatever request you have. They provided us with umbrellas during a rain storm, ice when we walked too much, advice on whale watching, and good restaurant recommendations. This inn is in the middle of Ptown, on Center Street. And the best part of the experience is meeting fellow guests during breakfast, which is served in a semi-enclosed porch in the garden. Baked goods, lemonade, and soft drinks are also provided throughout the day. Highly recommended for straight as well as LGBTQI travelers. read more

My fiancé and I had a truly phenomenal experience at The Tucker Inn! I was on the tail end of my bachelorette weekend on The Cape, and we decided to drive from Dennis Port to PTown for the day prior to heading home to shop and have lunch. Upon arriving in PTown, we decided we didn't want to drive all the way to Boston when we were done and wanted to get a hotel. One problem- we had our 16 week old puppy with us and nowhere that accepted dogs. With an incredible price point and a perfect downtown location, The Tucker Inn came to the rescue! Laila, the owner, had a room for available for us for the night. My fiancé and I were instantly blown away by the level of hospitality and dog friendly atmosphere that exists here. Our puppy is a baby and still learning but everyone was so beyond patient and loving to us and to him. By the end of our stay, we felt like we really got to know the other guests and knew them by name. The outdoor patio felt like a true haven with water fountains and statues and many benches and tables for relaxation. The dogs ran freely and safely throughout the fenced in yard and the first floor of the Inn. The breakfast was delicious and little touches made it even better (a pitcher of iced coffee and various flavors of hot coffee). Throughout the day there was always a tray of freshly baked cookies on the table and they were delicious. The air conditioning was strong. Beds comfy. Bathroom immaculate. Truly this place hit every mark and more. We hope to return sometime, and soon! :-) read more

This bed and breakfast is everything I could ask for. The owner Howard makes sure you have everything you need to be comfortable. The rooms are just right, there's a fireplace, TV, A/C and a private bathroom. The breakfast that was offered was really good and had a good amount of variety. I found myself looking forward to seeing what the Chef would come up with next. The Cranberry and Walnut French toast was really really good. Howard has a dog that lives at the B&B named Colby. He is a great dog that is always up for playing his version of fetch. Which he will only fetch if you are able to pry the tennis ball out of his mouth. He actually just wants you to hold the ball while he holds the ball in his mouth. It sounds pretty weird but its surprisingly fun. read more

The Tucker Inn absolutely surpassed anything we could've possibly hoped for in a Bed and Breakfast. First off, the breakfast - MASSIVE and DELICIOUS fresh made-to-order meals each morning (omelets, pancakes, waffles, and/or french toast, plus bagels/muffins/cereals for the taking). There were days where we ate breakfast around 9:00 and weren't the slightest bit hungry again until dinner at 7:00 or later. The breakfast is no joke. Next, the rooms - comfortable, clean, perfect, perfect, perfect. As for location, you cannot beat it. It's a block in from Commercial St, which means you're steps away from everything Provincetown has to offer, but you don't hear any of the noise from your room. And I can't not mention the absolute pleasure it was to stay with Tom and Howard. The HIGHLIGHT of our trip was the Saturday evening cocktail party. Not only was there a plethora of drinks and DELICIOUS food present, but it was such a wonderful experience to chat with other folks staying at the Inn. Honestly, my girlfriend and I were planning to stop in for a quick drink, then head out for a night on the town, but we were instantly hooked and that became our only evening plans. I loved my stay at the Tucker Inn. I wanted a place that was close enough to Commercial Street to be convenient, but far enough away to be relaxing. What Howard (the innkeeper) has done with this place is magical. He's 1/2 block off of Commercial, but he has set up his backyard & garden to make you completely unaware that you are only steps from the bars and big parties. He offers a great breakfast every morning, and a cocktail party (with delicious snacks) in the evening. And so much else - clean towels by the hot tub, a parking lot, a bike rack, refrigerator in the room, flat screen TV and DVD player (with shared DVD collection to choose from), great bath robes, and even a candy dish by the front door. I ended up making some new friends - and discovering my new favorite place to stay in Provincetown. read more

I have never enjoyed staying somewhere as much as I enjoyed staying at the Tucker Inn last weekend. One of my best friends and I just had our first trip to the Cape, and after disappointingly having our expensive ferry ride canceled due to rough seas, and being put on a long, traffic-laden bus ride, we arrived at the Tucker Inn and got a warm welcome from Howard (and his dogs, Colby and Chloe!). He gave us a quick tour and showed us our room. We stayed in room number 5, (the least expensive room), and it was wonderful! It had a large, clean, comfortable bed, a gas fireplace, a window overlooking their garden area (we could hear the fountains outside! relaxing!), and a large flat screen tv (on which we watched Stop Making Sense and Kathy Griffin standup from Howard and Thomas's dvd collection!). There were even big fluffy bathrobes for us, which we quickly donned so we could go downstairs and enjoy the hot tub in the garden! This room has a shared bathroom, but we never had any trouble getting in there when we needed to! The breakfasts: amazing, plentiful, and served on their beautiful patio (can i just say, blueberry coconut bread budding! and bacon!). Nothing could be nicer than waking up in our comfortable bed, moseying downstairs to the smell of breakfast waiting for us, enjoying a hot coffee on a covered patio, and reading the nyt. The saturday cocktail party: Thomas' incredible cosmos, fantastic horderves, and delightful company (we had such a great time talking with Howard, Thomas, and the other guests, who were a large group of friends who visit together annually -- what a sweet group!). The location: we loved being so close to everything, but still on a quiet side street. Plus it was just a five minute walk to the pier to catch our ferry home! I should also mention that our stay was on the first weekend of the off-season, and the weather was beautiful! Mid-upper 60s and sunny, perfect weather for biking around town. It was fabulous. Histina made breakfast that was so delicious. Really anything you could possibly want for breakfast. From eggs , potatoes and sausage to quiche to French toast. We had the pleasure of staying at the Tucker Inn for the first time 8/7-8/11/2013 Rm.#8 The Tucker Inn was a wonderful experience. the rooms were very nice, clean, bright, and very attractive with great views of the area. The house was so cozy, with interesting décor from the owners excursions from other parts of the world. the common areas, and gardens were peaceful, and serene yet spacious for the many guests staying at once . The owners, and staff were some of the most amazing people to meet, and took care of us, and the other guests as if we were family,(though in a sense we were I felt.) The food was amazing. Not only the breakfast with an eye popping fruit bowl, Omelets made special to order, the Pancakes, French Toast, both with Homemade Berries & Sauce Syrup, but the Saturday evening cocktail hour with hors d'oeuvres, and Thomas' famous signature Cosmo's. So much attention is paid too, and focused on for the guests of the Tucker Inn that, unless I write a book, will you truly know just what the experience of staying at the Tucker Inn is unless you stay there yourselves, and we already can't wait for our next visit!! We recently stayed at Tucker Inn for the second time. We were just as pleased as the first time. The home is warm and inviting. I love the quiet landscaped zen garden for afternoon reading. The breakfast that Curtis chefs up is nice and varied. I love the relaxing music playing throughout the outdoor areas, the calming effect of the house dogs snoozing around and making friends with the guest's dogs. We have stayed at many places in town over the years and right now we only see staying here in the future. I love the laidback (yet attentive) attitude of the ownership and the other guests always have a good vibe. Seeing everyone enjoy themselves for appetizers and cocktails before going out on Saturday night is very nice. What I have been truly impressed by in my two stays here so far is the cleanliness of the rooms. I am one of those people that if there is a speck of dirt or a stray hair somewhere my eye will inevitably be drawn to it. I just cannot help myself. I am never distracted by anything at Tucker because the staff does such an exemplary job of cleaning. Our stay the weekend of 9/8-9/12 was extremely relaxing and restorative. My partner and I just spent 5 glorious days at this charming, hospitable, and community gem of a B&B!! We booked our vacation sort of late in the year and grabbed the last room here for location and parking reasons, and found it to be so much more than just another place to stay!! Thomas and Howard and their entire staff are so friendly, accommodating, and thoughtful. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay in P-Town than the Tucker Inn. The house and gardens are beautiful, rooms immaculate, and the company (including the dogs) was great! Thomas and Howard were the perfect hosts--warm, friendly and hospitable without being intrusive or hovering. We read that they had a Saturday cocktail party, but didn't expect much. Shame on us for underestimating the Tucker Inn because this cocktail party was so much fun! Thomas made cosmos and the chef whipped up some of the best hors d'oeuvres we've had in a long time. Shrimp cocktail, Moroccan chicken, Gouda, yum! The best part was that the chef joined us for cocktails and let is in on a couple of his tricks. After some great conversation with the other guests, we ended up in the hot tub. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday afternoon! Breakfast was also a treat when we woke up Saturday morning to the smell of bacon and other deliciousness. I can't describe how nice it was to wake up in this beautiful place and have breakfast waiting for us in the garden. Thomas and Howard were very helpful with restaurant recommendations, directions, and everything else we needed. They did everything they could to make sure our short weekend stay was as relaxing and enjoyable as possible! Before booking our room at the Tucker Inn, we read nearly every yelp review, and checked every website then finally decided to stay here. Our friends stayed at a nearby inn (I won't say where) and kept saying how much they wished they stayed at the Tucker instead (they came over for the cocktail party and hot tub). The Tucker Inn is the location of a number of fond memories. I'm realizing that the majority of these are beyond the sphere of what I'm comfortable sharing on the internet. Regardless, this B&B does everything I think a good B&B should do: 1. Host: Howard, friendly, accommodating, keeps your glass filled and your breakfast tasty and varied. He cohabits with Colby, a prize winning pup in a town full of canino-philes (a new fetish?). 2. Location: a little bit out of the center of town, set up a quieter side street. Never loud at night, never more than a drunken stumble away from wherever you need to be. In other words-- ideal. 3. The clientle doesn't seem to completely conform to the standard... how can I say... "demographic" profile. Generally gay guys, but beyond that there was a pleasant dose of diversity within the house. I love, love, LOVE this place!! This is my second time here, and I'll definitely be coming back again. The first time we were here was for women's week in 2011. We were in the cottage, and it was a nice little oasis. This time we're in room 2, and it's lovely too. What everyone else has said about the breakfasts is totally true - amazing! We just eat a big breakfast and then a late lunch and we're good for the day. (Maybe a piece of pizza after the shows in the evening.) I can not say enough great things about this place. It is so nice and comfortable, and in the best spot. Me and my wife came here with our 2 dogs, and they were so great with them. They made us feel very comfortable, and were great to deal with. We left a little early because one of our dogs was getting a little home sick, and Tom was so great and understanding. The decorating and landscaping are eclectic and elegant. The breakfast is sensational. I love breakfast and muffins. These were some of the best muffins EVER! This is the one B&B I have ever stayed at in Provincetown and I will never stay anywhere else. I was there during Bear Week in July 2010 and I loved their accomodations. The staff is very laid back and beyond friendly and accomodating! The feel of the house is just plain gorgeous. It has an eclectic yet a reserved and old charming atmosphere-with rustic floors, out of the ordinary decor and an old world charm to it. The room was so quaint and the perfect size for two people (if you don't plan on staying indoors much). They had the most beautiful set-up outside on the patio for breakfast. And the gardens were relaxing and brought an air of calm and peace to you're mood. They also have a hottub for your relaxation pleasure. I was happy they have guarunteed parking for your vehicle (one space per room) because parking in Ptown can be a problem. They are a 2 min walk from the two main roads and close to everything if you were to bike. Also, rates were reasonable as well. Big big thumbs up! read more

My boyfriend and I just returned from a 3 night/4 day stay and it was absolutely wonderful. It was my first experience staying in a B&B (my boyfriends second) so I wasn't sure what to completely expect. We were greeted warmly, given a tour and shown to our room. We stayed in room 3 which was so beautifully designed. It was on the smaller side but we weren't expecting a palatial suite. The set up was comfy and cozy and was not by any means too small. Between the two of us (who always end up over packing) we were able to store everything in the dresser, closet and bathroom without it looking too cluttered. Breakfast was spectacular and delish! You immediately fill up on the coffee, and home cooked pastries prior to even having your order taken! My boyfriend was impressed that there weren't simply store bought pastries. Breakfast was different every day and the chef did a wonderful job preparing the meals. After our trips during the day it was great to come back with cookies and sodas/water in the afternoon. We took advantage of the beautiful garden in the evening and relaxed with a bottle of wine. We were able to accomplish our goal: relaxation!! Thankfully there were two dogs to also keep us company considering we had to leave our dog at home. They were both very well behaved and were a nice touch to the ambiance. On day two we already began planning our next long weekend at Tucker Inn!! I personally do not have any "cons" and can't boast enough about the hospitality and comfort of Tucker Inn. read more

This place is the best. The cottage we stayed in was cute and cozy and had everything we needed to feel at home. The breakfasts were scrumptious, and there was a nice variety of breakfasts to choose from (and the coffee is fantastic!) The Saturday cocktails were amazing (can't go wrong with pitchers of cosmos :) and everyone, guests and owners, were great company. The location is also fantastic; being just a block away from the main drag made it easy to get out to explore. I was not once offered to extend my stay by the employee that contacted me...I was just callously told that my reservation was a mistake and I was being cancelled without as much as an apology...but the good news is I found a place that is on the water (Tucker Inn is not) and has a heated pool (Tucker Inn does not) and had exceptional customer service...when I explained the situation I was told not to worry and was put in a wonderful room that over looks the ocean for a two night stay that is slightly cheaper than the Tucker Inn. I would suggest that anyone looking for a room in Provincetown to stay away from the Tucker Inn, there are much better options available! You never know if your reservation will be cancelled by the Tucker Inn staff and for what reason. read more

We always choose BnBs based on description of breakfast. This inn had a wonderful description about how important good food is, and lauded their breakfast with baked bread, fresh fruit and more. We got none of that. We were asked what we wanted, and we chose a cheese omelet, and got a flat tasteless omelet on a white plate. No bread, no fruit, nothing else on the plate. One of us asked for some bread and got an English muffin- the other person was not even offered anything. It was terrible. The next day's waffle was just as bad . The third day we skipped breakfast. The owner told us when we checked in that he normally doesn't open off season, and it seemed clear he was not enthused about having us there, and it showed. And if he had called us after we made the reservation on the website and said he really wasn't open,that would have been fine. But once he accepted the reservation, the experience should have been as advertised. I am assuming it is better during the season, but this was a big disappointment. read more

I won't go into the details of why the condo we had reserved in Ptown didn't work out (I'll leave you with this: pee in the vents) but suffice it to say we were two couples with one dog and one week off, and we were starting to worry that our vacation was destroyed. Luckily, the Tucker got us in and immediately started making us feel at home. It was clean, conveniently located, folks were polite, the other guests were great, we loved the hot tub at night, and the beds were comfortable. My only suggestions (hence the one star off) would be for them to get an extra hand at breakfast since it could get backed up, and some of the food was less than fully cooked. And I wouldn't have minded faster internet. And, finally, if you aren't a dog lover, you might not love all the dogs around. BUT, I'm just being nit picky, because overall it was nice and clean, there was an amazing selection of snacks and drinks, friendly people, unbeatable location, and just a great stay....Thanks Tucker Inn! read more

While small, our room was incredibly functional, extremely clean, and very quiet. The Tucker Inn is a wonderful place to stay if you like being woken up by the sound of barking dogs. It's a nice place to stay if you like hearing dogs barking all day, like during a nap or during breakfast. If you want to see a dog piss on your shoe during cocktail hour, it is also a great place to stay. Basically, the Tucker Inn is a kennel. During my stay, every room had one or two dogs in it. I was told there was a 'no bark policy' but I think that was actually meant for me and my complaints about the nonstop howling. I don't think this review will hurt their business because I'm sure there are a throng of dog owners who would like to stay in a hyper dog friendly place--the location, food and accommodations are decent enough. I want to start off with everything I love about tucker inn. The staff, amazing breakfast with fresh baked pastries, cocktail party at night, the midnight snacks they leave out for us,the location , being pet friendly, great Wi-fi, and the clean rooms, Now I want to say why I give it three stars. The landscaping is a bit shabby,driveway is full of weeds and dead plants here and there, the gutter on the side of the main house is falling off, the rooms need some updated furniture . Not Smoker friendly. They don't like anyone smoking outside in the gated area. However I do understand it bothers guest and it's a disgusting habit however they don't provide you with any kinda of container out front to put your cigarette butts in, another guest I was talking to was going Out front off the property to Smoke and throwing her cigarette butts into the street.the exterior needs a pressure washing and a maybe a coat of paint. their ice maker is not very appealing it looked dirty and had no scoop.I enjoy this place but it does have a few flaws that could be worked on. read more
