Review 400! From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, Michael, the owner, was there to greet us and wish us safe travels home. The weekend before Memorial day (Fri. and Sat. night) ran us $324 with a Groupon. Parking is free behind the Inn. We were assigned a room with an oceanfront view without even having to ask for it. The view was great and there's a little patio with two chairs so you can sit out and enjoy it. The automatic fireplace is a nice touch and the bed was comfortable. Request room 109 if it's available! The complimentary breakfast included Greek yogurt, English muffin, delicious blueberry muffins, juice and coffee. Michael even offered us a vodka and soda before we headed out for dinner one night, which we accepted of course. Duh. My only knock on this place is that the walls are kind of thin and the TVs are really outdated, but there's enough to do in Provincetown you shouldn't be sleeping in or watching TV anyway. In August 2022 we paid over$400 a night for this ifar from a welcoming and charming bed and breakfast. We won't come back. Make sure if you do book (I'd chose some place else) you don't get the room in the front - it's directly on the front porch. You can't or the front - it is directly on the front porch. We stayed at the Anchor Inn Halloween weekend this year. The bed and breakfast is convenient to many restaurants, stores and hangouts on Commercial Street. We booked directly with the Inn during our Provincetown visit in August (we stayed next door) for the weekend. As with all major weeks or weekends in P-town, book early! We had a room on the third floor with a beautiful view of the water. There is a back deck where one could enjoy a morning cup of coffee. The suite was enormous--there was a king size bed with a desk and couch. The fireplace is gas operated and heated up the room quickly! The bathroom was nice and clean, with a jet tub (which I felt wasn't really necessary). Breakfast is continental, and is good. The owner/manager chatted with us for a bit one of the mornings. There is a nice large front porch where you could also eat your breakfast and enjoy the people watching. Other pluses: free parking in back, wifi, cozy/comfortable linens. Overall I was very impressed with the Anchor Inn. We went ahead and rebooked for Halloween 2017! read more

Why I Love the Anchor Inn Even Though I Never Actually Stayed There, by Dawn E. Okay so it was a coupel of weeks ago, and a bunch of us were in P-Town. The day was HOT and I was beat. Part of the group were rushing ahead to places I've been and seen and I wanted to save my energy for later so I, and a couple of others, opted to stay behing. On the porch of the Anchor Inn there are all these wonderful rockign chairs in a row, so I went inside and ask if we might sit for a spell, promising we would vacate if hotel guests started to congregate in the space or if our group started to reassemble. The man behind the counter COULD have told me to go screw, but he didn't, he agreed. As we sat there, in guests came in and out and chatted us up like we were old friends. Also, I should mention the inside of this place is positively stunning. They also had rows of bikes that I am assuming were for guests to use (or maybe rent), which was nice. If you're staying in P-Town overnight, I recommend trying this place before all others. Next time, I certainly will! read more

Great location!! Right in the start of all the hustle and bustle of Ptown. We had Room 103 Wifi didn't work or really weak only worked sometimes in the bathroom. We booked the room through Groupon which I rarely do but saw a great deal, and opted for a "water view". We had a water view on the first floor with our own entry behind the parking lot. Though I wish we were on the higher level, it felt like we had more of a parking lot view more than ocean view. The rooms were clean, bathroom was spacious, bed a little on the soft side but generally good. Parking is also free. The inn itself was adorable I love the front porch with rocking chairs good for people watching or just enjoying your cup of coffee. They have dogs at the inn who are very sweet. The main area inside has comfy couches, a collection of books and board games. It included a continental breakfast with choices of bagels, English muffin, cereal, yogurt, hard boiled egg, coffee tea and juice. Overall it was a good stay. read more

Sorry, but the place has gone to the dogs, literally! A lazy owner/innkeeper and his mom seem to think that two barking, begging dogs are cute and that the front porch, the only reason to stay here, will sweep itself of all the dog sheddings and dead flower blossoms. Coffee pots don't refill themselves, and yesterday's on-sale cereal from Stop and Shop, week old hardboiled eggs, stale muffins and Hostess donuts really don't suffice for continental breakfast. Knowing it's high season and prime location is no excuse for over-priced, poorly appointed cubby hole rooms. Preventive and corrective maintenance is sorely needed throughout. Even the prominent AI sign needs to be cleaned of whatever was thrown on it a month ago. New washing machines sat out for days waiting for "someone" to install, meanwhile blocking the wheelchair/luggage ramp. And is it really necessary to water porch hanging baskets during peak gathering time? Or, have your painter start to slap on much needed paint trim during the busiest week of the year? Let's see a little personality from the innkeeper; get up off you butt to say goodbye to your guests...say thank you when they open a door for you...act like you enjoy what you do...maybe even hang a rainbow flag or bear flag out during Bear Week! Departing guests dropped off a case of un-used beer, "for the community"...why not put it out for your guests to enjoy? The owner seemed more concerned about getting his precious cars washed than ensuring that his guests enjoyed their stay. Yes, the rocking chair porch is ground zero for socializing and post-tea dance parade people watching. But, it's not enough! This is a business failure waiting to happen...and it can't happen too soon...new ownership is desperately needed. read more

This past Saturday I made the trek to P town to celebrate my girlfriend's 29th birthday. I had planned for months in advance and booked a queen bedroom at anchor Inn. It appeared to suit all my needs in terms of being the perfect and central location, clean rooms with beautiful views and an added positive of gleaming yelp/ trip advisor reviews. On a personal note, it had been a difficult year due to a medical diagnosis, so it was an extremely special birthday for the two of us. Upon arrival we were greeted by the front desk staff who was relatively friendly. Check in process was completely easy and simple, which I appreciated after a long drive. Parking was free which was an added plus. Two keys were given upon check-in. One was for the bedroom itself and the other for the front door to the Inn itself. Front desk closes at 9 PM and the front door is locked from then forward until the following morning. The room itself was small but suited our needs and is perfect for two people. We had attempted to upgrade the room for a few weeks prior, as well as upon check-in. However, being summer, it was sold out. Regardless, we were completely happy with the accommodations. It had a gorgeous view of the ocean and a sweet porch to sit out on. Room was impeccably clean which was wonderful. It would've been an amazing experience, if it wasn't for what happened on Saturday night. After having dinner at The Mews restaurant (highly recommend), we walked back to the Inn around 1000pm. We decided to call it an early night so we could get up to go to the beach the next morning. However, we were unable to sleep because our neighbor on the other side of our headboard was having an extremely loud conversation until midnight. I'm assuming because of the age of the house, thin walls and close proximity of the rooms- you can hear every single noise from voices to footsteps. Plus being on the first floor, we constantly heard people coming in and out- slamming the front door. Around 1230, everything seemed to quiet down. But, around 100am that all changed. A couple drunkly argued outside of their room until 0330am. Apparently, from what I unfortunately heard, the gentleman had lost his pants at the bar and the keys to their room. His partner was screaming at him for hours. He even attempted breaking into the room and slamming his body against their door. Because the front desk is closed, we had no one to call and complain to. It was miserable. We barely got any sleep. In the morning, my girlfriend received a half apology from the front desk- who acknowledged the noise and stated the owner had found both men in the hall way passed out that morning. What really bothers me about the whole situation, is that no one offered any type of compensation for the disturbance, or at least some incentive for our next potential stay. We paid $450 dollars for just the night and to have it be unpleasant was very disappointing. It ruined a really special and celebratory day. Unfortunately, I don't have any plans on returning to the Inn. read more

We came here in April. The view of the bay from our room was beautiful and the parking was convenient, which were the only pluses. There was a continental breakfast the first morning, but nothing the next 2 days, wtf?! The bed was rock hard, shower was so small, and something in the room made my allergies go crazy. The staff was NOT friendly and they did not tell us where anything was located or the wifi password. The television in the room was from the 90's, it had VHS, need I say more. The fireplace did not work, as in other reviews I've read. Maybe they did not give a s*** because it was the off-season.I will never come back here. There are other inns and B&B's in Provincetown that are 100 times better for equal or even less than their rates. read more

I am sad to give what looks like a fine establishment such a low score when I have never actually stayed here. My score is based solely on a phone conversation I had with whom I assume is the manager while standing in the hotel lobby starring at an empty desk. I called three times before just walking over to see if they could accommodate me and when I got there it took me 15 min to find anyone in the place and have them track down anyone that could assist me. Once they finally had the manager on the phone the seemed annoyed that someone needed help or had a question and I could hear him scolding the employee for bothering him. The housekeeper eventually handed me the phone and the person on the other end asked "what do You need". ENOUGH SAID! He then in a meaner voice said that they where not pet friendly and asked me to please remove my dog from the lobby. I found that odd because I had never mentioned my dog at all. To conclude..... Beautiful place with an amazing location. Just an ass of a manager or dare I say possible owner. I'll never know. read more

I was mostly disappointed with this place because of how much we paid - if we hadn't paid about $325 a night, I may be singing a different tune. (Forget canceling. They would've charged us 50% of the cost) The location was awesome! The staff seemed decent, though my partner had more interaction with him (them?) than I did. The lobby was beautiful, as was the porch. The dogs were sweet. Bonus: free parking (if you can get a spot: there weren't a lot and the spaces were TIGHT). Now for my complaints. When I hear "bed and breakfast," I think the "breakfast" part is going to be awesome, and it was filling - because I took several things each day - but nothing to write home about: bagels, muffins or some type of bread, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, cereal, and coffee. As far as our room, there wasn't much to it: a bed (that moved a lot and wasn't all that comfy), a chair, a nightstand, and a dresser we couldn't use because there were no knobs. The closet and the little wet sink area with a mini fridge were nice. No complaints about the bathroom. Not sure about the TV or the wifi - didn't have the password. Not a lot of places to set down your things, except the tile floor, which was seriously lacking a rug. As someone else said, our "oceanfront view" (which I'm assuming was a factor in the price) was more like a "parking lot view with some water and stuff beyond that." One of our windows wouldn't stay open, and the other didn't have a screen in it. read more

This is my second year staying at the Anchor Inn. The staff was wonderful and gracious, as always. The room was nice and clean (and quite charming) with a beautiful view. It had the intimacy of a Bed and Breakfast, with the privacy of a hotel. I highly recommend them, and plan on staying here for many more years to come. I don't think that I've ever stayed at a nicer place before! It was so cute, clean and the staff was amazing! Every night we looked forward to going back to our room because it was so nice. My girlfriend and I were hoping to enjoy our one-year anniversary at a tranquil, quaint location at the Cape, but our experience at Anchor Inn fell far short of our expectations. And note that although we used a Groupon, we still paid $390 for the entire stay (in December). We stayed on Friday 12/13 through Sunday 12/15 The Good: The dogs were cute. The staff was friendly for the most part. The jacuzzi-style tub was pretty cool. The Bad: The breakfast was truly continental, and lacking options. The Ugly: Both nights we stayed involved 29-30 degree weather, which is not uncharacteristic for New England or even the Cape in the winter months. However, the heat in our room was almost non-existent. I was born and raised in New Hampshire, and I'm talking shivering, teeth chattering frigid temperatures. Only about 5-10% of our room was heated (to about 60 degrees), and my girlfriend and I still had to rely on each other's body warmth the entire night as our primary source of heat. The fireplace was broken on Friday night when we arrived, and then it worked for about an hour after the staff fixed it, and then it stopped working for the remainder of our stay. Staff set off the fire alarm three times in between 7:30-7:40AM on Sunday, and they did not offer any explanations or apologies. Between the lack of heat and the multiple fire alarms, my girlfriend returned from the trip sleep-deprived and slept in the car ride home and most of the afternoon on Sunday. Afterwards, I told a friend who has been in the hospitality industry for 20 years about my experience. He explained that a B&B should provide the best night's sleep possible, and the staff should have comp'd something for the heat and/or fire alarm issues. And this is why I am giving Anchor Inn a 1 out of 5 stars. This is unfortunate, because my girlfriend and I plan to come back to Provincetown in the summer time. read more

A very good place. We stayed here twice recently, in May & June. The room was comfortable (the only slight complaint it that the walls are kind of thin. We had to hear the neighbor's TV). Our room had a water view, very nice. The accomodations in general are very good, with a very clean bathroom (with new, or very recent fixtures), plenty of storage/closet space (we bring a lot of stuff), decent wi-fi, TV in the room (just local cable, no DVD player). The breakfast was more than adequate, and very fresh. The owner, his mother and the concierge all are friendly (can't say the same for all the guests, but that's to be expected). The place is not cheap. but for what you get it's better than many others in Ptown. Location is nearly ideal, not far from the center of town and many restaurants and shops. Parking in back in included and very convenient. read more

This was our first stay at the Anchor Inn and we will be coming back. Michael, his mother and Chris were so helpful and made us feel so welcomed. Our room had a shared deck that overlooked Commercial Street and was very comfortable. The location is perfect and we spent a great amount of time just sitting on the front porch. Everyone was so friendly and we were lucky to be turned on to a wonderful show at the Art House by Marilyn Mae, who was staying at the Inn. We stayed here our first time for Holly Folly weekend. The location is great, right on Commercial Street and the waterfront. Plenty of rooms here and they're very nice too. The Inn Keepers, Chris and Michael, are very friendly and accommodating. Chris got us our extra pillows upon arrival and was very helpful with info on what was going on for the weekend, as well as any other questions we had. Michael was even hand washing mugs when we left so people could have their morning coffee while the dishwasher finished its cycle. The breakfast is a standard continental setup that you'd expect at a B&B. They also have a great welcome wagon consisting of 3 Labrador Retrievers: Ginger, Molly, and Bo. They're super friendly and make the stay that much more pleasurable as they greet you when you return from your outings. The off-season rates here are great too. We highly recommend the Anchor Inn Beach House if you're going to P-Town. It is beautiful - both in location - right on the water on Commercial Street and decor - beautiful furnishings - it couldn't be more immaculate. The front porch is the stuff dreams are made of. Not to mention being greeted by the most well behaved labs you've ever seen. The owners Chris and Michael and Staff were incredibly gracious, friendly and accommodating. A great place to stay! The rooms are comfortable and the staff are wonderful. We ended up staying after a recommendation from the bartender at Bayside Betsy's and boy are we glad we did. The room was large with a balcony overlooking the bay, a fireplace, and a whirlpool tub. The bed was very comfortable and the room was well decorated. The continental breakfast is o.k. but go accross the street to the coffe shop for some great coffee and bakery. Worth every penny and then some. read more

Unfriendly owner and unpleasant experience.I stayed here in May for my 40th birthday weekend away. From the moment we arrived it was a bad experience. The room I booked was the best they offer, with a balcony, fireplace, Jacuzzi tub and a great ocean view. The high off season price reflected these amenities. However, the room we were given had hair in the Jacuzzi tub (the bad kind of hair), the fireplace wasn't operational and the balcony door was broken. All amenities were problematic. When we went to the front desk to inform the owner of the condition of the room, he became immediately defensive and proceeded to inform us that he owned the inn for 5 years and his cleaning staff was great and worked there for over 14 years with no complaints of cleanliness. He made no apology and made it actually feel like he doubted our truthfulness. He went upstairs to check the room and came back to say he was switching us to a new room. His attitude, arrogance, defensiveness and lack of sympathy was actually far worse than the condition of the first room. He made a bad situation worse instead of following the basic rules of customer service by empathizing and apologizing to his guests. He had an opportunity to turn the bad situation around so this review would be a positive one instead of a negative one, but his arrogance prevented that. He has no business being in the hospitality field. The new room was in better condition and was cleaner, but things still got worse. The people who stayed in the room above us walked very loudly and very often with heavy loud shoes on the hard wood floors above. It also sounded like they were arranging furniture. This went on every day from 7am to 11pm. The rooms weren't big enough to do that much walking so I am not sure what they were doing, but it was very rude. This is probably not an ownership problem, but it made an already bad experience even more terrible. The breakfast was barely a breakfast so I suggest checking out a great local restaurant like The Post Office or Café Heaven for real food. read more
