While visiting St. Augustine with friends, we left with only a few options for breakfast, and we settled on Ancient City Brunch. The ordering/seating situation is very weird. There's no one to great you, nor is there a sign to explain that you need to go to the register in the back of the restaurant to let them know that you'll wait for a table. The restaurant is also very small, with only a few tables available. I believe we waited about 30 minutes for a table, and had to share with another couple. The most popular thing to order is the brunch board, where for $12 each, you can build your own board. I think it's overpriced for everything to be $12... 3 sausage patties, and a bowl of fruit is not worth that price. But still, the food was good, and hot when it arrived. Our board of 5 items, 3 coffee drinks, and a bagel was $90. This is definitely more of a place to go for the experience, but you feel rushed because people are hovering around waiting for your table. read more

The food and service were both outstanding. We sat outside because it was gorgeous weather, so the ambiance outside was spectacular. We did a brunch board with french toast sticks, brie, and seasonal fruit. We got to try dragonfruit for the first time and we really liked it. We came here for my sister's bachelorette brunch, expecting a fun and celebratory experience, but unfortunately, it was anything but. From start to finish, the service was painfully slow--waiting an hour just for drinks is unacceptable, especially at a brunch spot. You'd almost expect the building to be full? But no there was barely any other people in the restaurant. To make matters worse, they were out of champagne, waffles, and biscuits. At brunch. Our server barely checked on us in the two hours we were there and didn't even bother writing down our orders, which led to multiple mistakes and missing dishes. When the food finally arrived, it was underwhelming at best, and the ambiance didn't help--so dimly lit that we could hardly see our plates. The food was cold and honestly gross. Overall, this was hands down one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. The food was decent, and the board arrangement was very cute, but I do think it was very overpriced: before tip, about $60 for two sandwiches and two other entrées (one was pretty small). I was still hungry after. I might have been able to forgive that, but two of the three staff members present were quite rude. We arrived fairly close to closing (which is 2:00pm on Fridays, not 2:30pm as was posted here at the time of writing), so maybe that's why, but we wouldn't have done so if we had known their true hours. I was so excited to try this place because it seemed promising. It was so disappointing, the server was not nice or approachable at all. We paid $60 for 3 sandwiches and a side of bacon. These sandwiches tasted like 7/11 croissant sandwiches. NOT WORTH IT! also the pancakes and french toast aren't even on the menu and we were very confused and weren't explained that these items were on a secret menu. This place was so fun! My friends and I were on vacation and stumbled in here at the perfect time. The place is rather small so you have to get lucky with seating. Right from the get go, the interior is adorable and classic, the place feels like home. The inside is farmhouse style looking with big tables and cute decor. I absolutely love the concept of the create your charcuterie style brunch, The menu is completely customizable to everybody's dietary likings and needs! Personally, I'm on a pescatarian challenge so this is great for me. You can mix and match from an array of bagels, muffins, scones, quiches, French toast, pancakes, waffles, bacon, fruit, yogurt, and brie! I went with French toast, blackberries, brie with honey chips, and an asiago bagel with butter for my board and boy was it huge! On the side, I got a hot vanilla latte which came in an adorable mug. (All of this was $31!) The brie was absolutely to die for, it came fresh hot out of the oven. The bagel was warm and luxurious, the berries were all sweet and juicy (didn't even get one sour bite!), and the French toast was airy and light. I had dipped it in the honey from the brie and it was to die for! I'm definitely going to have to come back with friends and mix and match boards so i can try more of their menu seeing I just came by myself to try it out. As some others have pointed out service is missing! 3 groups walked in with me and my wife service staff just ignored you no pager to tell you where you are in line first come first serve seating does not work well with the total of like 6 spots to sit. 20 minutes waiting at front not once was we greeted by a staff member. Just disappointing after we seen a tiktok showing off how nice this place looked and pictures of the food served. My recommendation skip go up the street to RR Roosevelt brunch much more spacious and was greeted immediately given pager told 20 min wait. The brunch charcuterie was such an interesting concept we had to stop by since we were in St. Augustine! Everything was so tasty and there were so many options to choose from. I would highly recommend getting the thick cut bacon, it was my favorite thing on the board. Everyone here was super nice, always checking in to make sure everything was good. I've been loyal to my same old breakfast spot for years, and decided to give Ancient City Brunch Bar a go after i saw the brunch charcuterie boards. This idea is spot on with fantastic food to actually pull it off! The workers there are kind and attentive. The cook (i think owner) came out and made sure everything was perfect. I loved the caramel iced latte, the applewood bacon, and the brie with honey. Pretty quiet place with friendly people. Perfect for a calm start to your day. If you are looking for pastries you will find a couple, but definitely not their main thing. Overall, I have to recommend this place to anyone who loves breakfast food! Well worth the drive since i live a town over. They close at 2:30 and had about a 15 minute for seating inside at your own table, but everyone was so friendly and didn't mind sharing a table.
