We had Ali Baba last week and saw this place on the way home. So we visited the one in N. Central Expy on Wed around 11:30 am. Ample parking and this place has way more offerings than Ali Baba. $16 per person including fountain drinks and tea but excluding tax. Saw a sign that you can add a lamb shank for $1.5 at the register. We asked the hostess but didn't quite understand her. They also sell pre-packed baklava for $2.44 in a small round container. They have spinach, spicy, traditional hummus, mama ganoush, Greek salad, etc. I didn't get to have grilled pomegranate eggplant at Ali Baba last week so I called ensuring they have this dish. SUPER EXCITED as it's my favorite as Fadi's and other Turkish restaurants in Houston, TX. The grilled eggplants were in a lot of clear sauce, unlike the ones I've had before as they had less sauce and darker in color. It was blend and the pomegranate molasses is definitely missing :( Truly disappointing. Other hot items like okra, stuffed squash, roasted potatoes, fish, fried fish, gyros, etc were ok. Some tags were missing so we guessed what they were. They have many chicken dishes but we didn't try them. Love the hot pita bread with garlic sauce and dips. Desserts were chocolate cakes, rice pudding, canned peaches and melons. We saw 2 staffs during the entire hour we were there. They didn't impose anyone wearing gloves on getting food from the buffet line. Overall a pleasant experience and may go back for just the lamb shank. read more

I found the setup for ordering to be very confusing. It wasn't super obvious who you were supposed to tell "oh I want the falafel" until the very end. So, I guess I mean that I wasn't expecting it to be set up like a Chipotle or a Cava, but it is - so now at least you know. I really liked my falafel. I had no problem with any of my food. The rest of my party had the gyro meat and the curry chicken. The gyro was good, but the curry chicken was "too sweet" and "off". A manager (I think?) came around during our meal and asked how we were doing, which is nice, but the overall experience was a bit awkward. read more

The food is generally very good but their delivery menu is terrible. The last three times we've ordered, they were either out of or no longer carried the items we ordered - as I speak, they have no okra or eggplant, both of which are staples in Mediterranean food. The Uber drivers are always the ones having to call and ask for substitutes which ends up delaying the order and causing a lot of frustration. This needs to be fixed. read more

Wow was this ever a great find! Was looking on Yelp for something good and non chain related. There is a huuuuge variety of foods to choose from. You grab a tray and go along like a buffet but they serve you rather than you do it. Start with breads then on to a variety of hummus, baba ghanoush etc..... then on to salads until finally the meat section. They have this slow roasted chicken that is to die for! The food is great and the portions are huge. My personal favorites are gyros with fresh pitas and the roasted cauliflower. There are also lots of vegetarian options if that suits you. Please note that service is very limited (between Covid changes and there always being a hiring notice). I also stopped trying to do online and called in orders because there were so many mix-ups. Everything was packaged nicely but never completely correct. You can make a take-out order work but need to check for accuracy before leaving the restaurant. read more

Great lunch experience. Stopped for a lunch meeting on a business trip to Dallas before heading to the airport. We were a little early for lunch and there was no waiting and plenty of seating. Took a minute to get oriented to all the options on the menu since there are many food options. Food was displayed beautifully and the restaurant atmosphere was great. I had a meat & 2 sides - lamb kabobs, which were cooked perfectly, along with hummus (which counts as a side), and falafel salad. Portions were generous and although this is on the expensive side for lunch, I think you get a good value for the money. Also had a piece of pistachio baklava which was delicious. You know you've moved to a different neighborhood in Texas when you have to search to find good tex mex enchiladas but the first gyro you try is rocking. I liked their clearly in house made pickles, but on the gyro they overwhelmed the dish, so I ended up taking them out and eating first, and then really enjoyed the more mellow gyro meat. Spicy hummus was delicious. I know they have a great selection of salads and veggies, so please don't judge - but their fries are excellent. Ended up here over the weekend looking for something with vegan options & found this place on Happy Cow. I got the falafel platter which comes with 4 falafels, 4 sides and 2 pita. Limiting to 4 sides was hard so I ended up getting a couple extra to get a good flavor for the place. This is cafeteria style so you'll go through the line to have them fill your plate. (service is helpful to make recommendations). I ended up with the fattoush salad (top 2 faves), fruit salad (too heavy on the honeydew for me), spicy hummus (top 2 faves), babbaghanoush (meh, I've had better, not smooth enough for me), dolmas (not my fave, weird sweet flavor to them), and vermicelli rice (pretty good). The falafel were crispy but had a mild flavor & were slightly oily - I liked them alright. The pita were ok, I wish they'd been fresher, warmer and softer. The checkout process seemed a little disorganized for someone who'd never been there before. The drinks are at the back of the dining room so she had to re-ring my order when I realized what my drink options were. I didn't want to make her ring it up again when I saw the cups of pickled vegetables on the other side of the cashier. There isn't much to the ambience, plenty of seating but the banquet seating wasn't in great condition as it was ripped in places with the foam filling exposed. Would I come here again? Flavor: not sure how to describe the chicken, well seasoned, well cooked, slight sweetness to it. It gave me a bbq initial profile, but not bbq. The pitas were fresh, the spinach hummus is a great flavor profile for hummus. This will definitely be reordered. Before tip was approximately $17. Service: I DoorDashed the food. It's rare that I'm in the DFW area alone. When my son and I drive down for sporting events and such, we tend to stick to a few restaurants as a tradition. Being unshackled gives me a chance to vary things, so I decided to see if Andalous was as good as the reviews indicate. In a word, yes. After grabbing some fresh-baked pita, I chose the broiled lamb shank with hummus and fattoush. The lamb was so tender. I wasn't terribly hungry, but it was so good that I was tempted to get another. The hummus tasted of fresh chickpeas and was some of the best I've found in a restaurant. The fattoush was OK. I know it's predominantly cucumber - and should be - but this needed a bit more tomato and onion to balance. In short, I recommend Andalous highly. I wish I lived nearer so that I could try the other items. read more

The place does indeed have the basic setup as a Fadis restaurant in Houston. That's where the similarities really start to diverge. The serving line is pretty short in comparison. The fresh pita bread was very good. The tabbouleh salad was pretty good, could have used a bit more lemon. I'm usually a sucker for the gyro platter so that's what I ordered instead of the kabobs. The gyro meat was very thinly sliced and dry. Not good. The restaurant itself seemed run down, and it had a dirty feel to it. There were dirty dish and bussing carts parked near the drink fountains which wasn't appealing. The whole place looked like it could use a deep cleaning. Our booth table was sticky, although it had obviously been bussed. They need clean towels to wipe the tables down. We love Mediterranean food but we will be going somewhere else next time. read more

I had my husband stop in for a couple of gyros on his way home from Dallas. He ordered 2 gyros one with salad and one with fries. Got home and found the best tasting gyro I've ever eaten! This is my go-to for Mediterranean food in the neighborhood - the prices are reasonable, the selection is staggering, and they deliver on all the staples with impressive consistency. The setup for ordering can be kind of confusing - there are some menu items that require picking from the ordering line, and others that you need to request at specific points and get a number. Just pick up a tray, get in line, and start asking the folks behind the counter for what you want - they'll get you squared away. Food-wise there aren't really any misses that I've found - there are, of course, a ton of great veggie options, and the veggie plate allows you to pick a massive SIX different options from the sides bar. Do yourself a favor and scope out the whole thing before getting in line - you'll load up on a bunch of delicious stuff and miss some real winners later on. The falafel is a special-order item, but it's fluffy and filling without being heavy or oily (although the falafel sandwich isn't my favorite), and the baba ghanoush is a perennial favorite - there have definitely been days where I've just swung in to pick up a few fresh pita breads and a tub of baba ghanoush to take home for dinner. The stewed okra is another sleeper hit if you're in the market for a delicious and unconventional treatment of okra. The dining room is the only real miss - it's fine, but it's pretty loud, oddly configured, gets kind of crowded, and they can take a while to bus some of the tables. Appalled. For a $19 plate after tax, I wouldn't even say it's worth it. The amount of beef kabob meat in this platter is laughable. And the rest are filled with regular sized pieces of vegetables? Andalous must do some serious carry-out that keeps them hopping. There were 3 parties seated in the dining room at 6:00 pm while I was there. But people came and left in droves carrying bags of food. So they did was good. I think you have to know what you like or eat there a few times to figure out your favorite dishes. Since I only ate there the one time it was fine. Very healthy. I had a curry chicken that was tasty. And two salads. I would eat there again but I would do carry out so as to not sit in an empty dining room. read more

I have been here twice now and on my first visit I was blown away by the vegetarian options they had. We always get the veggie sampler in which we get to pick 6 sides and 2 pitas. The pitas are made fresh right there in a beautiful oven. Pick a tray and down the line you go choosing from dips, salads and vegetable preparations. They have about 6 or more dips and even more types of salads and vegetables to choose from. We also get an extra order of falafel which are made to order and are delicious!
