One of Denton's best restaurants! Tons or gluten free options and they are all amazing. A lot of times gluten free options are not up to par in regards to textures and flavors but that is not the case here. Wonderful!! I had the Miso soup and Pad Kee Mao with chicken. Just the right amount of heat and very flavorful. Portion size was just right. The servers are on the edgey side, but super attentive and friendly. This is the the real stuff right here. Will definitely be back. read more

The server clearly doesn't know Thai food, as he messed up the order. And it was apparent that the cook was trying to do the best he could with what he could find for ingredients. It was edible, but it is no where near what an authentic Thai restaurant is like. It is not even close, but my guess is that 99% of the people in the area wouldn't notice. read more

This place is great! The lunch portions are perfect. The Pad Kee Mow was a little too oily for me but the Red Curry was fantastic. I wouldn't recommend going there if your in a hurry. There was only one server when we went and it seemed like he was behind the whole time we were their. Such as getting soup before we got our beverages. I don't understand all of the bad reviews on here. Andaman's food has always been great! I used to order take-out from their old location on Elm St., and was delighted when they moved to a nicer building in a nicer area on Hickory St. I've seen the bad reviews commenting on poor service, but I actually like the service. I get annoyed when waiters/waitresses come to the table too frequently, especially if they try to make small talk. At Andaman, they seat you, give you drinks, come back for your food order, deliver your food, and bring the check. It's simple. I've never had any of the wait staff be "rude" to me -- they just don't come to "check on you" every 5 minutes. Like I said earlier, the food has always been great. My favorite is the ginger fried rice. I've never had anything that I didn't like, though. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that it IS a little expensive compared to other places in Denton. I'd rather come here and pay more, though, than pay a little less for food that's not so good. read more

I just moved to Denton from Austin a couple days ago and was honestly worried that there wouldn't be a good Thai restaurant close to us. So happy I found this place! My boyfriend and I ordered our food to go and it was AMAZING. The Tom Kha soup with chicken from this place is probably my new favorite food. My boyfriend ordered basil fried rice and Thai noodle soup with chicken and again, it was AMAZING! I would highly recommend this place to anyone who loves Thai food. read more

I am so glad we finally tried this place! I had the see ew with beef. The meat was tender, the veggies cooked perfectly, and the noodles were great. So I am giving it a 2. I have taken out many orders and have always loved their food. However, tonight we decided to break our take out routine and dine-in. We walked in waited to be seated @ 830 pm and saw an empty large table. We were greeted by an employee and he grabbed menus and started toward that table. He then turned to us and ask how many in our party. We told him 2 and he turned and said he would need to start a wait list. We told him that we would place a take out order. While looking at the menu we were asked several times to move out of the way. We left upset and hungry and placed a take out order with the competitor. It was 830 at night with NO LINE and the chances of getting a large group were slim to none. They clearly would rather lose their current small business patrons while hoping for their possible large ones. Will think 2 or 3 times before I order from them again. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! read more

Ate here for the first time since they moved. Very nice. Their fried tofu is just about perfect. Had it as an appetizer and in my curry, which was wonderfully prepared. The Thai iced tea was a little skimpy in size, and the prices seemed a bit on the high end for what you get. It's not as "homey" as Siam Off the Square was, but the ambiance is nice. read more

I have loved thai food for year and years, and this place rivals big city places. The only other place that is close to andamans is a place in the bishop arts section of dallas. I love andamans thai tea, and the peanut dressing on the pre dinner salad. I love the "spicy green bean" and have tried other dishes but i always come back to this. The atmosphere is ok. Our takeout from here was a train wreck. It wasn't a complete surprise given that Yelp reviews are either glowing or disgusted. The lowest reviews tended to be for bad service. They struck out every possible way with us. No forks or spoons was an omen the food would be inedible. Pad see ew was a starchy mess and had no spice or flavor. I don't think they bothered to season it at all, heresy for a Thai restaurant. Chive dumplings were starchy and oozing oil. The chive "steamed" dumplings hadn't seen a steamer in a while. They were as oily as the fried ones, which were far too oily even for something fried. The tom kha wasn't spicy and the container was barely half full. There was almost no chicken in it, and most of the space in the container was taken up by a huge wedge of tomato. Pad kee mow was tasteless and had no sauce. Coconut custard had no coconut flavor whatsoever. It could have been a big blob of butter judging from the taste. The chef clearly had left the building. I found the jar labeled "TO GO TIPS" on the counter particularly obnoxious. I paid for a $42 order with a fifty and waited five minutes, like they were angling for me to say "keep the change." I didn't. I'm willing to leave a tip for a takeout order, although I think it's the height of tackiness. I always tip servers well and I leave table tips for counter service because the busboys are picking up my dishes and I appreciate it. It's important. My kids know from me that if they don't have enough for a tip, they don't have enough to eat out. I didn't appreciate the amateur night ploy for an $8 tip for handing me a bag of food. The tip I left was, shall we say, less than eight bucks. I'm not sure which was poorer, food or service. Both were lacking even minimal effort. read more

I really love the woon sen (glass noodle) with fried tofu, the egg rolls and the corn chowder soup. Their food is awesome, but the service is pretty sub par with the exception of a few. Last time I ordered food to pick up and they require that you leave a credit card number in case you don't ever come get your food, but they just write it down. The girl said my food would be ready in 15 minutes, so I always give them a little extra time. I got there about 25 minutes later and the girl said they had no order for me. I was a little annoyed, but mistakes happen. So, she asked if I wanted to place the order again and I asked if I'd have to wait another 20 minutes...she just looked at me and kinda huffed and said they'd get it out asap. I looked at my phone to see what time it was and she said "whatever" and walked off. ha. I stood there and she kept looking at me, but wouldn't come over to help me for at least 5 minutes. She finally did and all I wanted was the paper that they had written my credit card info down on...they couldn't find it. Haven't been back since..they're mostly a bunch of snobby hipsters. read more

I have been to Andaman many times and love their food. They are happy to make it as spicy/hot as you like and have the best Crab fried rice with real crab claws in it as well as crab meat. Tom Kha soup is awesome. Much better than other Tai restaurants in Denton and portions are huge! read more

I love Thai food, I've eaten it a lot, and I can tell you this is perfectly average Thai food. I ordered the Mee-ka-Ti. It was a little gummy and it lacked any noticeable coconut flavor. I also got a small Tom Kha, which was very tasty (good coconut, coriander, lime and chile flavors). I would have liked to seem them use something besides button mushrooms (like straw mushroom, which I think have more flavor). I also tried the chive dumplings and the steamed pork dumplings. I love chive dumplings, but I should have ordered these pan-fried and not just steamed. While I usually love the texture rice-flour dough develops when steamed, these were oddly slimy. However, the flavor was decent. The steamed pork dumplings were good. What pushed this restaurant into the 3 star review territory is the fact that they deliver and they have excellent customer service. They got my order to my house fast and the men who took my order and dropped of the food were polite. I had to pay a $4 delivery fee, which was off-putting, but the cost for the meal was reasonable considering how much I got. read more

You know, this place had great food. It is unfortunate, however, that the owner has horrible customer service and cares more about making money than he does about his customers. We had dinner there and my friend, who does not eat seafood of any kind, ordered the cashew chicken. When it came out it tasted fishy. Sure enough, the waiter confirmed that the dish is made with fish sauce. The owner said he would take 20% off of her meal - not replace it! Nothing on the menu description mentioned anything about seafood in the dish. The owner argued with us in front of everyone else in the restaurant and caused a scene. Luckily she is not allergic to seafood, but he could have had a major law suit on his hands if some one allergic to seafood had eaten that dish with no warning. read more

We just ordered our food to go and had never been there before, I ordered our hotness at a level 3. I thought that the scale was 1-5 like every other Thai place I've been but apparently it's 1-4. I couldn't even put the whole bite in my mouth it was so ridiculously hot. I called to ask if they would possibly remake it because it was our first time, and the manager said no. Got the Kra-Pow seafood dish. Sounded good as described on the menu. However when they brought it out I thought they were kidding. One small crab claw, about 3 shrimp, 3 clams in a sauce with vegetables. The sauce and vegetables were the best part. I could not believe for $13.95, this is all you got. I noticed everyone else seemed to order chicken in a curry sauce and I know why. Very disappointed in the amount and quality of the food in relation to what you paid. The food is always delicious. However I'm not so sure about the cleanliness of the place anymore, Which then makes me question what happens in the areas where I can't see. And I guess the worst part is the owner didn't seem to care. Today the mug I was served hot water in had lipstick on it. I called it to the attention of the server who obviously got me a new mug. Then when I ordered a hot liquid desert, poached banana, after I was done eating most of it, saw a large crack in the bowl, breeding ground for bacteria. Brought this to the attention of the server, explained how grossed out I was at both things, and he proceeded to tell me they got a new dishwasher who isn't that good. When he brought our check, no credit on it, and asked if he told the owner. He hadn't so we asked him to, thinking certainly he would come out and apologize at the very least, or remove it from our check, but he didn't. Thumbs down for that. read more

The only reason I come here is for their glass noodle soup. The clear broth is crazy good. However, the customer service is awful (40 minutes for a to-go order, at 2:00 on a weekday, really?) and the rest of the food is decent at best. I just paid $9 for a lunch meal that ended up being not much more than rice and cabbage. It was supposed to come with soup, but I was told they "don't do that on to-go orders" and wouldn't give me any as I waited for my main meal. Check out Oriental Garden, Mr. Chopsticks, or Thai Square instead-- all of these options have fantastic food and even better service. read more
