The store itself is very cute and charming, full of so many items - fresh meats and cheeses, imported olive oils, pastas, desserts, wine, and liquor to name a few. There is an area where you can get coffee drinks and there is a deli area for ordering sandwiches, pizzas, specialty dishes, and salads. The variety of options is plentiful. I ordered an iced coffee beverage, which was great. My significant other and I ordered a sandwich to go, which we were splitting for a light lunch back at the hotel. The person helping at the counter was not very friendly or helpful with questions. We asked for our sandwich to be made on the Dutch Crunch bread, as we were looking forward to trying it. Unfortunately, when we got back to the hotel, it turned out that the sandwich was made on a regular ciabatta roll, which was not fresh. Additionally, the sandwich was mostly mixed greens. For the price, I expected more meat. With so many great food options in San Francisco, it is likely we won't stop by on future visits to the City.

They had a security guard standing outside telling you that you can't stand agains the wall on the public sidewalk to wait for your sandwich.

I'm updating my review again. After my last bad experience, I quit coming here for a few weeks, and then I noticed they cut back their hours. They used to be open on Sat/Sun and now not any more. Recently, I've been in a few times, and prior service problems are resolved. I've been quite impressed the past few times with the speed and courtesy of the service, so a definite improvement. The food remains good (that was never a problem). My favorite is the turkey Swiss and avocado on multi grain. Tasty, and the bread is incredibly tasty and very filling and satisfying and the price is quite reasonable. As long as they keep up the good service, I'll keep going in once or twice a week at least. (Also the downtown Market Street location is quite good with the customer service, too!) read more

The 2023 pumpkin pie is a total disappointment. It is SO AMERICAN SWEET. I paid more for the pie from Andersen because they used to be mild "European" sweet.. This year it is a piece of trash just like ANY AMERICAN pie. So why waste more money for a piece of trash which ends up in the trash right after the 1st bit. The Andersen Pullman bread, English bread & the pastries are still top rates. I cannot comment on their cakes because I haven't try any since Andersen have changed hands. read more

5 stars for the roasted tomato caprese sandwich with avocado. I'm obsessed and can't bring myself to try anything else. It's warm and delicious and served on ciabatta. They wrap the two halves individually, which is awesome when you finish one half and are sad that your sandwich is gone, only to realize that you have another half waiting in the bag for you. And I love the pickle. Don't forget the pickle! read more

I have been blessed to attend all kinds of different Friendsgiving and Thanksgiving dinners throughout the years from different countries and cultures households ( already celebrated Canadian Thanksgiving this year in October). It is always good to try diverse desserts besides just having pumpkin pie. Yucateco Bakery has the sweet pastries like pan dulce ( sweet bread ) and the savory like the Hojaldra de Jamon y Queso ( ham and cheese pastry). They also have fresh made from scratch French rolls which are good the day after Thanksgiving for the pan con pavo( Leftover Thanksgiving turkey sandwiches ). I had got the Polvoron de Colores which is like a short bread with a cherry filling in the middle. It was savory and not too sweet. The Concha's I got were fresh soft and sweet. This is a good spot to go for any occasion. Thanksgiving in the city of San Francisco is something else especially in the " Mission" where you find all kinds of different diverse Thanksgiving food dishes in the "kitchen" some are dancing some are yapping and some are watching football on " television" because it's an annual American " tradition" I been to different Thanksgiving with diverse dishes that are Latin American, Asian,and"Mediterranean" and some are Italian and some are "Scandinavian" and some Russian and some are "Ukrainian" and this past October I had lots of Ice wine celebrating Thanksgiving which is " Canadian"

I saw Ike's as I was looking to see what's within walking distance. I guess they're having a "sandwich showdown" this month since that was one of the categories. And the Sidequest caught my eye: fried chicken, yellow bbq sauce, bbq sauce, zesty orange glaze, honey, pepper jack cheese, dirty sauce, and Voodoo chips! It has all the flavors I like plus chips inside the sandwich! I realized it was cheaper to order in person, so I did just that. Since the sandwich is part of a special event, it wasn't listed anywhere in their store. So if you want to order this, either order it from their website or show them the listing. I didn't know if you got to choose the flavor of the Voodoo chips, which is why I decided to order there. Btw, they didn't ask me which Voodoo chips to put in, but I think it was the regular sea salt. The dirty sauce and bbq sauces pack a lot of flavor anyway, so I think the regular chips are the best option. And when I say a lot of flavor, I mean there is a A LOT of them: different levels of sweetness from the bbq sauces, a hint of citrus from the orange glaze, the tanginess from the pickles and banana peppers. The chips get drenched in the sauces, but you can still pick up some crispiness when biting into it. Despite all the sauces, the sandwich wasn't as soggy as the one I had 7 years ago. But I knew I couldn't save half as it would eventually get soggy and the textures wouldn't be as pleasant. So I ate every. single. inch. And I am completely stuffed! This is going to be my only meal for the day. I'm glad to see that they're still busy after all this time. And despite the hectic nature of the lunch rush, everyone was calm and patient. And nice. There was an elderly couple in front of me who were overwhelmed with the menu, and the woman who assisted them was patient and even brought them paper plates and cutlery to their table. The space remains the same - small with a few tables. They have to keep the storefront gates expanded, though, so if you don't see the "We're Open" sign, you'd think they were closed. There's not a lot of natural light that gets in there anyway, so it wouldn't matter if they tucked the gates in. I'm not going to wait another 7 years to come back. There's another sandwich that I already have my eyes on.

The center was decadent and crisp - just like the center of a Dubai chocolate bar. Berry Scone was good. Not too sweet. I like that it was a dry and crumbly with the right amount of glaze. My husband enjoyed it. Would love to return to try a coffee, a savory treat, or buy a beautiful cake.

As good hot chocolate (with chocolate whipped cream too!) as you'll get out of a specialized chocolate store. In fact, even better than most of them! They also have multiple little snacks, treats, cakes and coffee. Tiramisu was okay. Although I've personally never tried most of their selection, everything looks appetizing. The store is also not small. So have some seats and small tables for a coffee chat. Nothing major for a big party, but enough for a casual chat.

I've noticed a big part of their business are kids school lunches. You can pre order your kids lunch and have it delivered! I ordered 2 sandwiches via phone: a roast beef and tuna. The sandwiches were large, stuffed and good price. Taste was alright, the bread didn't seem all that fresh. It was quite a bit of food where I saved half for later. You can't beat the price at Nina's!
