Custom Breakfast Sandwiches
Shanna P.

This beautiful sandwich was only $8. I don't know why but this was one of the best breakfast sandwiches I ever had. I always make sure to get one whenever I am in the area. Service is super quick considering it's a busy morning. There is no seating, so it's more of a grab and go type of thing.

Breakfast sandwich: eggs, apple sausage, hash brown, cheese. Totally worth it!!!

I came in with low expectations, but this place completely exceeded them. I was nearby working in the area and decided I'll stop by to check it out. I was surprised by their menu selections. They served, breakfast, lunch and some dinner also breakfast pastries. A young Caucasian gentleman handled my order efficiently and offered excellent customer service. I didn't have high hopes for the food I ordered but was pleasantly surprised by how good their food was. It was so delicious that I came the next day. Their sandwiches and breakfast I highly recommend. So happy I opted for All Star Cafe rather than Cumaica nearby. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and added apple sausage and hash brown. Can't wait to come by again.

Fresh coffee, fresh food and an extensive selection of food also made fresh to order. Great place for a quick and efficient meal.

Got a burger here and it was okay. For $7, I would've liked more lettuce and tomato in my burger, but I guess it's hard for mom and pop places to make ends meet nowadays. Service from the young man at the counter was friendly and efficient. A bunch of his friends were outside the cafe chatting and smoking and after he took my order he went outside to join them. Having them there made the area seem safer; they were all respectful and friendly enough. And the young man went back to work as soon as my order was ready! I think I'll try some of their donuts next time. They looked good and they were huge! There were croissants that were about twice the size of "normal" croissants!

A gem! I work in the area and wanted breakfast. Decided to come in on a whim and I'm so glad I did. No frills, mom-and-pop shop that serves up delicious food. I ordered the breakfast sandwich with sliced sourdough bread, eggs, cheese, chicken apple sausage, and a hashbrown patty. It was exactly what I needed. Super satisfying! The young guys who work there are super friendly and provide great service. Fully intend to go back to try some of the lunch items.

How can I be three blocks away and not stop in? I have 45 minutes to order my food, jump in to a ride share, and be on the other side of The City. Fu*k it. I'm all-in! Great to see the owner, Ken and his mom, flourishing and well. Trying to decide on what yummy lunch plate to carryout. Garlic Fish with rice and a scoop of mac salad. Just like being in Hawai'i. So Ono!

** The following review reflects my experience DURING the COVID-19 pandemic. ** Sometimes you need a donut. That'll be the title of my autobiography and it'll be right in the bargain bin between Snooki's "A Shore Thing" and Lance Armstrong's "It's Not About the Bike. It's About Me Cheating". That's because I crave a donut every now and then, just a plain one, no icing, no powdered sugar, and yep, I come here even though this intersection can get pretty sketch. They also serve sandwiches, burgers and a surprisingly robust selection of hot plates from French toast to Mongolian chicken over rice. I've seen people eat them there in the pandemic. I'm not in love with griddle-cooked food anymore, so I can't comment on any of that. But sometimes you need a donut. A glazed old-fashioned (photo: https://bit.ly/3hMkwl7)? What? No plain ones. OK, for a buck and a quarter, I'll survive. DOUGHNUTS - 4 stars...hard to screw up, don't you think? AMBIANCE - n/a...I was in and out so fast SERVICE - 4 stars...he was very friendly TOTAL - 4 stars...Sometimes you need a donut...available in paperback RELATED - Hunting for doughnuts? Breakfast Sandwiches starting at $5!

I was craving breakfast/Asian food this morning and I saw All Star Cafe opened at 5AM! I went at 7:10AM and it wasn't open yet. It opened at 7:30AM. There were 2 people ahead of me who waited since 7, and a steady line of people as I grabbed my beef & shrimp chow mein to go. It was pretty good, better with Sriracha, and fed me about 1.25 meals haha. I'll be back for their loco moco, bfast sandwich, and traditional bfast stuff!

I swear when I worked in SoMa this place was just a donut shop. Now they have an impressively diverse menu from club sandwiches, burgers, omelettes to Hawaiian (katsu, loco moco, BBQ) and Asian (teriyaki, curry) plates. Prices are average for the city ($10-$12 for plates, $7-$10 for most sandwiches). In a rapidly improving pocket of SoMa, this corner is still pretty sketch but the hard-working crew bustling behind the counter made time for me to buy two grab 'n' go donuts. There are a few tables to sit and enjoy your meal. It was a boho/construction/Mid-Market mixed nuts crowd and two Twitterari from up the block. It was the most diverse gathering I'd seen in San Francisco since 2003, refreshing. I hadn't eaten the day before: I stuffed that donut in my mouth like a Labrador carrying a chew toy and wheeled around Mission Street heading for the freeway. Even if I hadn't been ravenous, that donut was pure heaven: Pillowy and fresh and bursting with strawberry jelly. I licked sugar off my lips as I merged onto 80E. All Star Cafe opens early at 6 am so if you're at any after hour clubs in the neighborhood, head over here. Club sandwiches are $10 but they're not slouching, it's aioli not mayo, pesto and sautéed mushrooms and the double 1/4 lb. cheeseburger is a square deal at $8.50. The donut was fabulous.

My husband and I's favorite place to eat in the world is New Orleans so this place definitely did not disappoint. We started with coffee drinks, I had some sort of boozy espresso drink which I could have done without since the bitters tasted like licorice which is probably a taste preference. My husband had the grandma coffee which was also fine. Then the food came out and it went up from here! The catfish & grits just might be the best I've ever had. My husband also really enjoyed his banana foster French toast, & i loved that they allowed you to get one piece of fried chicken because i had to try it out despite a full meal. The wing I had was Nice & crunchy with a delicious sweet sauce on the side that reminded me of mambo sauce ( a DC staple.) My husband also had the gumbo which was good but I wouldn't say our favorite. I prefer my gumbo with a little more spice but that could just be personal preference. We ended the meal with beignets: I had the ube beignet which was so unique & flavorful! I don't think I would have had a chance to try that type of beignet anywhere else so glad to try something different, it was delicious. The crawfish beignet was also so flavorful! The beignets in general were much more bready than typical beignets but still very good & unique to this place. On top of that, the service was great & the food came out quick, hot & fresh! I wish we had more time (& stomach space) to try other items on the menu, everywhere we looked everything looked delicious so we'll just have to try more the next time we're back in SF!

The place is a little cramped, but we were able to wait inside until the whole party was there to be seated. It was a good place for a group dinner. The cocktails are cheap for San Francisco, and the beer selection is decent. And the food is dense and delicious without being too heavy. I shared the catfish with crawfish etouffee (special), the gumbo, and a dungeness crab beignet with my boyfriend. We also ordered some banana cream pie for the table, which was a huge hit.

There is some room to sit as you wait and there seems to be plenty of street parking around. The inside is cozy and I was tickled by their menu. They print a new menu daily! I wonder if they vary the menu by the day. We liked everything that we tried! We shared a biscuit and Hong Kong Toast. The toast was a little burnt and you could taste that through the condensed milk. The biscuit with the honey butter was delicious! These make great shareables because they're a lot on their own. The plow is a great sampler breakfast platter and I'm so glad they offer that! It comes with 2 lemon ricotta pancakes, choice of eggs and protein! Huge portions and I shared this with my husband! We really enjoyed the food and would love to return when we're next in SF!

That alone makes this a place I'd only revisit when I have plenty of time. The restaurant itself was clean, and the service was solid with no complaints there. I ordered the lemon piccata pancakes. I love lemon flavors, but the lemon curd topping was a little overpowering for me. Once I ate around some of the curd though, the pancakes themselves were delicious. The real standout was the potatoes -- absolutely amazing. The bacon was just as good and honestly ended up being my favorite part of the meal. Overall, no complaints about the food or service. Would I come back? Probably... but only if the wait wasn't so long.
