I stopped in to grab some lunch and coffee and was greeted kindly, the food was incredibly fresh, coffee hit the spot. While I was sitting and eating I could overhear the staff on the phone with Uber Eats. After he had contacted the driver multiple times he called the company because an order had been waiting to be picked up for over an hour. He asked for the company to cancel that driver and send a new one because the food was getting cold. It shows this establishment cares about their product and their customer satisfaction. They let you choose your protein, cheese, and carb. I got the bacon, egg, and Swiss cheese with a jalapeño bagel [$5.99]. I also got a medium Caramel Macchiato [$4]. I thought the lady behind the register was rude at first, but it was more of a cultural difference. She was actually really warm and sweet, especially patient as I was figuring out what I wanted. I was so sad when I returned to SFGH in 2015 to find the dear Korean owners had sold the shop, but have fallen in love with the new owners and the CHICKEN TERIYAKI SANDO! They grill the chicken fresh everyday and throw it back on the grill as they make your order. THE quintessential mom and pop joint serving quality sandwiches. Whenever I walk in here, I'm greeted warmly with a smile by the lovely couple who owns this place. The male owner is always genuinely jovial. Just good energy to be around. Ingredients are quality. They surprisingly serve a mean chicken teriyaki here and macaroni salad! Can't go wrong with either the chicken teriyaki plate (if you have a big appetite) or sandwich. I'm picky about meat quality and the chicken here met my finicky standards. Plus the portions are fairly generous and the sandwiches are all very neatly made. They obviously care about the product they put out and it shows! Cons are that this place has very limited hours. They close super early so just breakfast or lunch here. Closed on weekends. Seating is very limited and the one time I did eat in, I ended up smelling like chicken teriyaki. :P It's a small place. That's why I usually take my food to go. If you come around noon, guaranteed there is a line of hospital employees grabbing grub so prepare for a wait. What's nice is there is a Walgreens down the block on 24th Ave. so you can use that time to pick up odds and ends or buy a drink as they have a limited selection of cold drinks here. Overall, a great choice near the hospital to grab reasonably priced quality food and you can feel good about supporting a small local business. read more
