My sister and her son were in town for my birthday so I wanted to go someplace a bit nicer and felt like Italian. This place did not disappoint. They must have gotten the word about the poor service reviews because our service on a packed Friday night was excellent and provided by staff other than just our wait person who were obviously watching out for the needs of other tables beyond their assigned ones. The reason I gave only 4 stars is that I had researched the wine list a bit online and wanted a Barbera. They had four on the list and of course, the one I wanted was sold out. That would not have cost them the star but when I asked our wait person a few questions about the remaining three, she was obviously not very knowledgable and steered me towards the most expensive one. A suggestion from her that she bring over someone more experienced to assist would have been the right thing to do but maybe spending 40 plus dollars on a bottle of wine is not considered a big deal these days. The wine, a 2008, was showing just a hint of oxidization and obviously at the "drink up now" point in its life and really not a good value. I read where another reviewer had a bad experience with the duck. Mine was a special that night, excellent, on the rare side of medium and very tender. Others in my party had the ravioli special, the standard chicken Marsala and the lasagna. All were top shelf, with the ravioli a standout dish. All portions are on the small side but very satisfying due to the quality ingredients and saucing. Will definitely return again. read more

I loved how cozy this restaurant was, and the food was fantastic. The crunchy polenta was amazing -- I could have eaten way more off my husband's plate ;-) He had the crispy duck and I had the lasagna and both didn't disappoint. Somehow there was a mix-up in the kitchen and I didn't get my salad, but that turned out OK because I was stuffed without it. Our server was warm and welcoming, and when I couldn't finish my lasagna, was worried that it hadn't tasted good, but I assured her I was saving space for dessert ;-) Overall, great experience. A last minute decision, and we both thought Italian sounded good. We always check Trip Advisor first, and after looking at reviews and menu, this was the choice. Glad we did, we were well served with a great meal, and our waitress was so helpful with her suggestions. Grassfed filet for me, and Linguini Bolognese for my wife, both perfect. Went with friends almost two months ago. Waited to write review until I cooled down after rude, terrible service - absolutely the worst I've ever experienced in Santa Fe. The only reason I gave it two stars rather than the one it richly deserved is that we ate here twice last year and the food and service were excellent then. Anyone can have an off night but there is little excuse for ignoring diners- we waited 30 minutes - for water, a menu, a person to take our drink order, bread - anything. We had to get up and flag the host twice before we finally got water. When our waitress finally showed up, there was no apology or explanation for the wait. She was clearly skilled in table service but very uncaring about when and if we got our food and drink. Two of us unfortunately ordered the Chicken Marsala, which looked and tasted unappetizing and was not served hot. The other two diners liked their food but thought the service deplorable. We asked for dessert menus but when none were forthcoming in twenty minutes we decided we'd had enough. I should add that the fabulous waiter we had twice before is still there and if we had been seated in his area the evening would have been different. (Though nothing could have saved the Chicken Marsala.) We did have a reservation and were seated soon after our arrival, but totally ignored after that. Also I filled out a card telling the owner about our experience but either she never received it or doesn't care. Never got a response. Clearly, the boss was not in residence the night we were there. A smile and an apology would have gone a long way to saving the evening. There are too many fine restaurants in Santa Fe to put up with this. I will admit they have a great wine list! read more

A lovely place to dine when weary of the crowds or traffic in Santa Fe. Near the Railside District (short walk) this restaurant offers unique and delicious choices for lunch and dinner. Freshness seems assured as we saw a delivery of fresh tomatoes which complimented the lovely salads we had for lunch. read more

A fun restaurant with good food and great ambiance. I ordered a simple pizza, but the quality of ingredients made it shine. No brilliant combinations or techniques, just great ingredients prepared well. Il Piatto has even better food, but I think Andiamo has a trendy ambiance that is delicious in its own right. Our server decided early on for some reason that our table of three women was not worth "tourist" attention-we were obviously locals taking advantage of Restaurant Week. For his information, if I can't afford a generous tip based on regular menu prices where warranted, I won't eat there. Why waste my money and your time? I don't know if it was our naive questions about the wine, but service declined quickly after that. He never checked back once, we had to have the water server call him back twice (once to get our dessert orders taken and another to ask for coffee, which was never offered, and worse yet, never came, even after we SAW the water server tell our server we wanted coffee). What made it even more disappointing is that even after leaving a comment card with my full name and contact info, there was no follow up to further explain any of the ratings or comments I left. It is truly the worst service I have ever received outside of a fast-food place in Santa Fe. It is a shame because the food was very good and a nice change from usual SF fare. I was hoping for a new place, a change from Il Piatto, but Andiamo! is definitely not it. While I'd love to come back for the food, my principles will not allow me. That server cost them three regulars/locals, for we usually make it to Il Piatto at least 4-6x per year. Another friend keeps trying to convince me to give them another try because of the food. I don't see that happening, not with all SF has to offer, why support such poor service and manager attention to customer comments? Time to try Mangiamo Pronto or give Pranzo's another try - or stick with what works, Il Piatto. Or to heck with downtown and head for the one down by Silar/Agua Fria that I always forget about. Have to put up with loud families, but at least the food is good and service friendly. read more

So sad to be giving this modern Italian bistro a mediocre grade as the food was wonderful, some of the best I've had in Santa Fe. For a starter, we had the a crispy polenta with Gorgonzola sauce that was amazing. Entrees were linguine with spicy shrimp and braised lamb shank: both were fantastic. The wine list and ample servings of sourdough bread with olive oil were top flight. I could go on but in other words: the food merited a 5. Unfortunately, the service deserved a 2. Uncharacteristically, we dined early having had a long day in the car and skipping lunch . Because it was early, the number of diners were completely manageable, but the servers were at best distracted and lackadaisical. They seemed to work together as we had a least three different servers come to out table: that can work if the team approach is set in place to give the customer the best experience, but in this case, it seemed more lazy than anything else. At worst, the servers were unprofessional to the point that I am astonished that the managers of a restaurant that aims so high (and hits the mark) in terms of culinary achievement don't expect and insist upon better in terms of their serving team. Because the food is so good, I hope to return... but my partner was so infuriated that our server sat at a table next to ours and talked to a friend about personal matters while ignoring our table that he said he'd never go back. Seriously, it's simple: talking about personal problems doesn't belong in the same small space where people you serve are dining, even if the friend you are speaking with is dining. Judging from the checkered comments about service found throughout the Yelp reviews, the bigger problem may be that whoever is running the restaurant either doesn't get it, or doesn't care. or both. ...because that is certainly the attitude that permeates the culture. We are not high-maintenance customers, and we love good food and local chefs, but our experience was that the Andiamo staff acted in a way that communicated that they cared about us as customers a little bit, but cared about themselves much more. I'm disappointed that I can't give this fine restaurant a better report. read more

I ate there last night and they made some changes to the menu (not good changes) Dishes on the menu have been changed for the worst. Why change things when they work. When we asked the buss person to send a waiter over, he told the hostess who seemed to be unconcerned. We waited another 5 minutes before we left and went to Il Piatto. At the suggestion of the desk person at our hotel, we wandered into Andiamo at 8:30 on a Monday night. No expectations, we only knew it was Italian. Well, we were absolutely pleased with the entire experience. The prices were quite reasonable and the menu varied. My husband and I had the chicken Parm which came with 2 beautifully prepared chicken breasts, crusty and moist with wonderful cheese melted over the top. The spaghetti that came with it was wonderful with a light homemade sauce. Sautéed spinach was also on the plate and delicate and tasty. Our waiter was a young man named Dimitri who charmed us and certainly made great suggestions. Friends with us had chicken Marsala and they were very happy with their choices. If we have time while in Santa Fe, we will come back! read more

I had a very enjoyable dinner at Andiamo! last night. The room is lovely and the wait staff very friendly. My husband and I shared the Beet Salad, a pizza with house made lamb sausage, caramelized onions and red peppers, and a small portion of Spaghetti with spicy shrimp. After 4 days of eating in Santa Fe we couldn't even finish and unfortunately didn't have room for dessert. This with a nice bottle of wine made a wonderful dinner that did not break the bank. Been there many times. Atmosphere is warm and charming, with reasonably good food. In past we've had exceptional service and that has kept it in our restaurant rotation. However, the last visit, Sweet Jesus, the service was horrible! The restaurant was well staffed, tables sparsely filled, and yet we waited, and waited, and waited for everything menus, drinks, etc. Tables came and went around us while we sat seemingly invisible as the remains of our meal slowly congealed on uncollected plates in front of us. The 3 of us weren't challenging (one appetizer, 3 entrees, 3 glasses of wine). It was so weird because we appeared to be the only table our waiter had, and he passed our table repeatedly without stopping. Where was he going? He spent time standing in the kitchen doorway talking to other staff members...he had plenty of time for that. We would have ordered another glass of wine, coffee, dessert, after dinner drinks, but couldn't get waited on, so we left and had those at home. Our experience was so bad I don't know if we will ever go back. Additionally, I emailed the restaurant directly explaining we were repeat customers who'd always had a good experience there and were shocked at how bad our last visit had been, but received response. I can only assume they just don't care if they have crappy service. Go there if you must, but in Santa Fe there are hundreds of restaurants where you can get both great food and service, so why bother with Andiamo? read more

Over the 15 yrs. of living in SF, I have dined at Andiamo several times. We have experienced wonderful food with good service, but unfortunately have experienced mediocre to bad food & service on many occasions. It's always a risk to bring friends or out of town guests to this restaurant. The waiters tend to start out friendly and attentive and then fade once the orders are placed. We have always had nice, low key people with us at our table, that do not complain or make demands. The waiters should appreciate such clientele and act accordingly. Basically, they just need to drop the "attitude" and strive for consistency in food quality and service. read more

We ate at Andiamo this Sunday evening, and even taking into account the fact that the restaurant was very busy due to the Balloon Festival and a local convention, our service was very disappointing. The ambiance was marginal, the quality of the food was good, the wait staff was abysmal. One of our party waited an hour for a simple caprese salad (which the waitress had misordered), while the rest of us enjoyed our dinners. When said salad finally arrived, we expressed our surprise that it was comprised of ordinary beef steak tomatoes rather than the heirloom tomatoes as described on the menu. The sour-faced waitress actually argued with us about the wording on the menu, and we later overheard her complaining about us. Note to Andiamo manager: This waitress does not enhance the reputation of the restaurant with her rude and arrogant manner. read more

Delicious! I love to cook, so when I go out to dinner I expect the food to be as good or better than I can make. My husband and I ordered crispy polenta from Andiamo. The rosemary gorgonzola sauce had the right balance of rosemary and cheese to delight the palate. I ordered spaghetti bolognese as my entree and again, delicious. Veal, pork, and beef with light tomato flavored this dish. Rich, yet light. My husband enjoyed the veal scallopini. Capers enhanced the flavor of this dish. Excellent. We even requested extra sour dough to sop the juice. For dessert we ordered the profiteroles, a light puff pastry with Haagen Dazs ice cream with a dark chocolate sauce. Many thanks to our waiter Antonio who brought plenty of fresh bread for our meal. I would definitely go back. read more

So I made a reservation for 830 pm on open table for my wife's birthday. We walked over there from the sambusco center to have dinner. When we arrived there on time the hostess informed us that they had closed for the evening. I said we had a reservation and she said they were closed because they were slow. We showed up right at 830pm and they cancelled our reservation at 833 pm. Hey I get it your slow, but check your reservation book and give me a call. Not cool. The worst part is we live here and eat there quite often, not just stopping through. We won't be back to this establishment again. read more

The wheels have fallen off at Andiamo. I dined there as one of a party of four last Saturday evening, July 23. The restaurant was out of Chardonnay and about half of the items on their menu. One of the owners, who waited on us, rudely interrupted conversation at the table more than once, and when called out about it he proceeded to ignore the table for 15 minutes. Waitress rushed, disinterested in providing details about specials and entres. Focused on ordering drinks. Limited, uninspiring selection of wines by the glass. We ordered a salad and two entres without any meaningful input from waitress. Bread arrived: stale, whole wheat sour dough bread. Salad arrived, drenched in lemon, barely edible. Entres arrived, pan seared sea bass and pasta dish with "fresh" mussels. Mussels were so past and smelled so offensive we were shocked the dish had been delivered to the table. Returned mussels without incident, shared sea bass. Fine, average, nothing special. Overall impression: over priced, extremely average food and ? italian restaurant. read more

There's a reason this place is crowded with locals and their visitors...it's the most consistently great food at a good price in Santa Fe. Andiamo is not a fad but a fact of the Santa Fe good life. This is one of our favorite restaurants in Santa Fe because it is consistently REALLY GOOD. We wanted to try some new restaurants during Santa Fe Restaurant week but on the last night of the special promotions throughout the city, we just HAD to go to our old favorite. We were able to get in at 8:30 and were completely delighted. The variety on the Prixe Fix was more than most of the other restaurants - it was hard to decide which of the 5 or 6 featured entrees! We started the antipasto & a beautiful style ceasar - so clean & fresh. We filled ourselves with Clams Manilla w/spaghetti and the Penne with Lamb sausage. Bother entrees were excellent. The wine was nice and was at the regular price. We could barely finish with our pot de creme and another desert with pastries & ice cream. The value was amazing and the service ws impeccable. Though we had a "main" waiter, everyone in the place took care of us. We'll always go back. Andiamo is a sure bet - even on such a busy night as the last night of Santa Fe Restaurant week, We loved It!!! read more
