I came here for my birthday dinner. I was alone, so I took a bar seat, and I had a lot of fun watching the kitchen. They make it look so easy! The food was delicious, but I decided on Coyote Cafe because of the dessert menu, and the burnt honey cake absolutely lived up to and surpassed my expectations! You can really taste banana leaf, the shaved halva adds a lovely sweetness, and it just melted in my mouth. The service was impeccable. They called me by name the entire time and even though I look quite young for my age, they treated me with respect. Their timing throughout the meal was perfect too, very attentive, but not stiflingly so. I exceedingly enjoyed my meal here, and I'll definitely be back to enjoy all the other dishes I want to try here.

A large group for a late lunch. They sat us promptly upstairs-rooftop which has a different menu than the downstairs dinner area. They filled our table with waters quickly. They charge for chips & salsa which is really weird in my opinion especially at a 'Mexican' inspired place. No worries we bought some chips and salsa and guacamole for everyone - party of 8. Guacamole was really fresh, salsa just so-so and not spicy. Someone ordered a pitcher of Sangria and was disappointed because it was very watered down, hardly any alcohol. Someone else ordered a regular house margarita and said it was very strong with alcohol. Everyone has their own tolerance. I had the green chili chicken stew, really good. Others had the red pozole and they all agreed it was delicious. A stablemate ordered the Calabacitas without jalapeños and the kitchen added the jalapeños, she sent it back and then it came back without the meat, she sent it back. Third time was the charm, and it was finally a good dish. Main reason for the 4-star. Overall the food and service were mediocre.

Rich and creamy Korean tacos, with an a serving of corn bread with a variety of butters. Service was warm and welcoming.

The food, service, and ambiance were all excellent. truly enjoyable. One serious concern: From my seat at the bar facing the open kitchen, I watched the chefs use the exact same cloth for everything throughout my entire visit--no change observed. They wiped countertops (including areas with lobsters), their hands, the bottom/sides of steak trays, and directly handled hot steaks fresh off the grill with it. This single cloth was used indiscriminately across raw/ready-to-eat surfaces, creating a clear risk of cross-contamination and poor hygiene per standard food safety practices. Highly recommend addressing this to maintain the otherwise high standards.

Coyote Cafe is an *outstanding* dining experience: Five Stars (This is a sister restaurant to the Coyote Rooftop Cantina which is next door and _very_ different. I mention this as the reviews between the two, & therefore the ratings, are getting mixed together. ) Had dinner inside at the upscale Coyote Cafe, dining at the bar with a front row view of all the action in the kitchen. Amazing to watch the chefs make everything happen: brilliant. The food is top-tier, you'll want to try a bit of everything. People on either side were Santa Fe locals who were regular diners @ CC; that says a lot. The service was awesome. The service was high-end, wonderfully attentive and efficient. Awesome spot, highly recommended. As are reservations... :)

What a pleasant surprise! We spent the afternoon at Canyon Road art shops and decided we wanted dinner, the Yelp reviews on this said it is worthy. It certainly is. We started with a nice Sauvignon blanc wine. They brought out corn bread and 3 special butters. Oooo, melt in your mouth! I had the butter lettuce salad and the mussels. The salad had a great dressing and a generous amount of whipped blue cheese. So good! The muscle came in a chipotle sauce with hominy. I just love fresh sweet mussels and these were. But the hominy wasn't a great paring for me. Great bc service, great atmosphere, great food. We loved it.

Importance to note that this restaurant is two in one. You have the more fine dining experience, which is called Coyote Café on the lower level and then you have the Cantina/rooftop on the upper level. We decided to sit at the bar rail for our experience at that Coyote Café and Abe was our bartender/server. We shared that it was my company's birthday and he poured us a complementary glass of champagne. He went over the menu with us and made some recommendations and then gave us time to decide what we wanted. I went with the pork belly tacos. I was unsure of what I wanted to drink. I told Abe I like sweet drinks and he said that he would whip something up for me. He ended up making me a prickly pear martini with a salted lime foam. At first glance I wasn't sure I would like it, but it turned out to be a very amazing drink. The pork belly tacos were so so. Honestly I should've gotten the cashews on the side. I think that ruined the taste for me and they could've seasoned the pork belly just a little bit more. It wasn't horrible, but it was not my favorite. The drink however took the cake for me. The service was amazing . Each time one of the food runners dropped off food, they took the time to describe your dish. I really think that level of attention to detail elevated the dining experience. Stark difference from the Cantina upstairs, not to take away from it, but you can tell that they appeal to two very different crowds. I would for sure return.

I dined at Coyote Cafe on a Friday night and am so glad I did! I was traveling solo in Santa Fe and booked a counter seat which had a great view of the open kitchen - which gave me a welcome preview into the delicious options because I was having a hard time choosing! The chef was friendly and offered suggestions for what to do around Santa Fe, which was super nice. The server was attentive without being intrusive and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, offering helpful suggestions. I elected for the prawn appetizer which was just the right portion size - the prawns were juicy and flavorful. For my main entree I chose the Chilean Seabass which was buttery and decadent, served over black rice with squash and a nice pesto. I savored every bite. The vibe is lively without being too loud, and the decor is bright and modern. Highly recommend for a great dining experience!

As has been said, a great menu, food and superb service. We arrived at 5 on a Saturday for dinner upstairs and seated immediately in a perfect table almost directly under their beautiful red Chihuly chandelier. Very lively and full of diners but also very loud. It's a modern high ceiling room that lacks charm but that's the only criticism possible. Our server was a great guy, one of their established crew I would guess and he took excellent care of the four us. Creative cocktails and (!) appetizers were on the table within about ten minutes of ordering. Filets of elk, lobster, mussels, a wrapped Caesar salad, and more. Amazing desserts. Most expensive entrees about $60, apps and salads about $20. Very reasonable for the quality of food and service. Almost a bargain. 5 stars all the way and would definitely return.

Coyote Café don't let the name fool you. This place is an absolute gem. Charming ambiance. The food is incredible every bite is a burst of bold, well-balanced flavors. The pork belly tacos, Wow! Truly speechless hands down some of the best tacos I've ever had. Dessert was just as impressive. The chocolate mousse and the tamal dessert were both rich, flavorful, and honestly hard to describe you just have to try them. The elk was perfectly cooked, tender, and full of depth. The flavors reminded me of a Thanksgiving meal in the best possible way comforting yet elevated. Service was outstanding. Our server Emma was attentive, friendly, approachable, and clearly takes pride in what real customer service should look like. Kudos to the chef and the entire team this is easily one of the best restaurants I've tried so far. Highly recommend.

What are the hours for the rooftop cantina nowadays? When is last call, when do they close?

Sunday threw Thursday 11:30 am to 9:00 pm, Friday and Saturday 11:40 an to 10:00pm. Last call differs but usually 15 min after close.

Anyone know if they'll allow a small dog (in a crate) on the rooftop?? Called & they do not 😢

Santa Fe is one of those towns were just about everything is acceptable, so long as it is earthy and outdoorsy. If you're dining outside, this place will welcome small, well-trained pets.

    Is there a happy hour?

We ordered a charcuterie and cheese board which was much larger than expected and had plenty of local options. I started with a See You At Dusk, which was a combo of Melleti, souchu, balasmic, ginger and walnut. I found it to be a very flavorful drink that paired well with the board. I next tried a Bywater which was rum, falernum, genepy and Averna. It was a very deep and rich cocktail which I also enjoyed. The bartender was very friendly and offered us small samples of a few unusual items they stock. Overall a very fun experience.

Did tears of certainty spark his eyes as he sat under those moody lights, standing firm that yes So Long, See You Tomorrow needs not one or two but three different types of sesame- what did he feel? What did intend to bankroll? And the sickest joke of all- the Bellow's Breath- a bone broth mocktail like some crystal cup of soup. Was that beverage intended to pogo stick my friend off the proverbial wagon into the depths of glugging Long Island ice teas just to feel something familiar again? Because it did. And my heart aches for that friend but I too would lose my mind if I were to stare into such a void and see whatever it is that stares back. Was this menu the vision of a team- a baffling Frankenweenie invented by committee- or the secret wish of one troubled mind? I see it all so clearly and yet I can't help but doubt my own memory. That many beets on such an expensive cocktail menu? Who salts blueberries? This total disregard for the green chile cult that runs this city like a delicious cabal? Had no drink technician ever walked from front door to car, inhaled the piñon perfumed air outside and thought, I can do something with that. I don't know what happened and I don't think I ever will but I know I did not like it. Also the bartenders were vacant and so confused that human beings wanted to order cocktails in a cocktail bar.

As an appetizer I chose the foie gras which was slightly undercooked and had a bit too much berry compote. My entree was the seared duck breast which was also undercooked and difficult to cut.
