I genuinely wish I could give 5 stars to Dr. Barnett. Instead, I'm struggling to give him 2 stars. He hid the stitches well which is why he is getting 2 stars. Since Botox didn't work for me, Dr. Barnett suggested that I have a forehead lift. He mentioned that he had done his wife's forehead lift many years before and that she was happy. Dr. Barnett assured me that it would look fine. Unfortunately, it's not even close to looking fine! My extremely high and wide forehead makes for an unattractive appearance and it's the first thing people tend to notice. Yes, people will make comments. With several friends mentioning that I should try bangs, it's clear that the forehead lift is problematic. As an aesthetic specialist, I expected Dr. Barnett to envision and execute a pleasing end result. Additionally, the skin on my neck remains discolored! My dermatologist provided several laser treatments that helped. More are needed to truly correct it. The most telling aspect of this is that I had 3 friends in discussion with Dr. Barnett for facelifts, as soon as they saw mine, they chose not to pursue a facelift with Dr. Barnett. I did meet with Dr. Barnett several times to look for solutions. Each time he expressed his pleasure with how it looked. I now realize that the only way to deal with the problem was to convince me it was fine. I'm both sad and embarrassed by my appearance. I was hoping to look fresher and healthier. Neither of those is true. I am writing this not to demonize Dr. Barnett, I'm sure he tried. I am writing this to provide my facelift experience. read more

So a few years ago I was diagnosed as having a deviated septum as a result of a broken nose I had when I was younger. I had talked to both ear, nose and throat doctors and cosmetic surgeons about my options. I didn't really know which way to go as the ENT doctor was just going to fix the chipped bone and air blockage but a plastic surgeon could fix that and the slight indentation/bump from the broken nose. In the end I chose Dr. Barnett as he understood both sides of the problem and had dealt with situations like this before. I couldn't be happier! He pulled my forehead so tight it increased at least 1/2 " (didn't need it). Dr. Barnett is friendly in a fake sort of way, a little arrogant, and I'd say a pretty careless plastic surgeon. I chose him to perform a breast augmentation for me back in 2002 and the results were disastrous. First off, let me tell you that he came highly recommended and wasn't exactly cheap. The surgery cost nearly $7000. My goal was to go from not-even-an-A-cup to a full B-cup...nothing crazy and overinflated, I just wanted normal breasts. Well, after Dr. B. was done with me, I was pretty close to a D-cup. Not only that, I ended up getting capsular contracture in one breast and symmastia. When I went to see Dr. B for my post-op checkups, he never told me I had these complications. It was only after I visited another cosmetic surgeon for a second opinion that I learned of this. Capsular contracture is a complication that occurs when the scar tissue around the implants hardens to an unnatural degree. Symmastia is a pretty nasty complication that results from forcing too large an implant into too small a frame. Your skin is basically being lifted off the sternum, eradicating the space between your breasts and causing them to come together, forming a "uniboob". That's right, one big boob in the middle of your chest. Completely avoidable had he chosen the right-sized implant to begin with. I picked Dr. Barnett to do my surgery to begin with because he places breasts implants through the underarm in order to eliminate scarring on the breast. Well, when he had to perform a second surgery on me to fix the problems that he had created (and didn't even tell me about btw) he had to cut up my breasts, leaving scars on both of them, which is what I paid big bucks to avoid in the first place. And just for the record, the revision surgery didn't do squat, I now had capsular contracture, symmastia, AND scars. He offered to perform another surgery to fix THOSE problems, but I basically wasn't going to let this quack touch me again, so that was that. 2 other acquaintances of mine from the bay area also chose Dr. B to do their breast augmentations, both did not like their results. One was really disappointed at how her breasts turned out. She said that they felt funny and were much bigger than she'd originally wanted them to be. She also said that she felt really pressured by Dr. B to go up a size larger than she'd wanted and regretted that decision. The second girl who had her breasts done by Dr. B found that 2 years later, one of her implants had fallen out of its pocket. Yikes! She ended up having that problem fixed by Dr. Loren Eskenazi. I ended up switching to Dr. Loren Eskenazi (who was recommended by that acquaintance) to fix me up. After a couple of tries, she was eventually able to solve my boob issues. Yay! read more

Ok... deep breath. I'm about to admit that I've had "work" done. But it's so amazing, I would feel selfish not to share with my fellow yelpers. I orginally had a breast augmentation 6 years ago. One of the pockets lowered over time, and so one of my breasts became lower than the other. So, I decided to get this corrected, and get new implants. I was a 34B before any surgery, then became a 32D. At first, I loved my breasts- full and still soft. Yet over time, I felt they were too large for my frame. I'm 5'6", and about 120 lbs. on a good day. When I wore a bikini, I was all boob and not enough "Sarah." Call it kismet or serendipity, but I found Dr. Barnett. He's an amazing cosmetic surgeon who actually doesn't do any outside marketing- it's all word of mouth. Highly intelligent, warm bedside manner, informative, artistic- these are all adjectives I'd use to describe Dr. Barnett. During my consultation, he actually answered all the questions I had on my list to ask him. He definitely took his time with me, I didn't feel rushed or pressured. His work is amazing. My surgery went brilliantly. Dr. Barnett held my hand as I drifted off to dream land. When I woke up, I was actually not in any pain. He called me over the weekend (some days twice) just to check on me and see how I was doing. I've never had a doctor do that before. Now, I don't want to brag, but my result is nothing short of fabulous. Unbelievable! My breasts are slightly smaller, as I wanted... and I swear they look completely natural and real. I did my research on all the top surgeons in the area, and Dr. Barnett's track record and comprehensive approach made me feel comfortable when I made a final decision. More important his focus on my needs helped me avoid a surgery a different surgeon had recommended that was obviously way overboard. Dr. Barnett is a highly respected surgeon who did my rhinoplasty and chin augmentation last August. Not only is he a skilled surgeon, he's ethical, accommodating and pleasant (which do not always go hand in hand with being a surgeon). I work in healthcare and know many surgeons, but he was my first choice. My surgery results are stellar, and only one person even commented that I looked different - which is amazing. I have no regrets, he is an artist. Even my adult daughter couldn't tell until I showed her photos. Six months have passed and I am still thrilled each day to see my new look, it's fantastic. If I could give Dr. Barnett 500 stars I would... I'm 46 and for the most of the last decade I began looking chronically tired and exhausted. I was getting older, and that process was playing out exclusively under my eyes. I had great skin, and felt like a kid, but everyday I was asked if I was tired due to the large eye bags. My cosmetic dermatologist suggested a few things but said a Blehpharoplasty was the best solution for longterm results. She recommended her top 3 surgeons and after meeting them, Dr Barnett was the clear choice for me. I decided to have a double Bleph... the upper and lower eyelid surgery, and I had the surgery a year and a half ago. The results just keep getting better. The procedure itself was fine, and the recovery wasn't bad at all. but the results are Amazing!! I feel great about my looks and myself everyday. gone are the days of obsessing with creams in the mirror.. I'm just happy with my looks everyday. I meet Dr. Barnett many years ago now, and I've always known him as a very ethical, knowledgeable, and a highly experienced surgeon. His staff are all amazing as well, very friendly and well trained. One day about 4 years ago now, I asked him what it'd take to remove two unsightly moles on my face, he walked me through the simple procedure as well as any risks and how its done... and before I knew it... done. I couldn't be happier with the results. You can't even tell I used to have any moles in those two spots. Dr. Barnett performed lipo (mid-section) and I have horrible results (BTW I was in fairly great shape, athletic etc. for a48 year old--just have always had a belly despite exercise. I posted pictures but they've been removed--not by me). The results have left me scared for life. He agreed to fix the problem at no cost but then said I would need to have a tummy tuck for $20 thousand to fix the results of that fix? Not much of an offer to fix a problem. He prefaced his offer by saying it can take up to a year for the body to total recover from surgery (or is that when the threat of a lawsuit subsides for a physician?) What happened to agreeing to fix the problem in a way that would be comfortable for the patient --up to and including paying for them to have the damage fixed by another physician or a less invasive procedure? Poor pre surgical prep: I was completely unprepared for just how invasive lipo was going to be --the blood and downtime! I would never willingly undergo that process if the after effects and recovery had been explained realistically. Best interest for the patient not regarded: Dr. Barnett never asked if I was allergic to latex prior to surgery. Who doesn't ask that these days? What medical facility / Doctor does not have options for people who are? Dr. Barnett is. Like many patients I was given the typical surgery forms to complete on the day of the surgery. One form asked me to list anything I am allergic to and I wrote down latex. He panicked! Saying he did not have anything that was non-latex! He was obviously not prepared. He did not think that this lack of preparation and threat of potential harm for me was enough to reschedule the surgery. Instead he turns the tables on me and he told me never to tell a Doctor that I am allergic to latex??? So my regular doctors ,who all agree I have a latex allergy by the swelling and bumps I get all over my skin when I touch latex-, are wrong? Pricing: He gave me one price then 8 months later he contacts me and asks for another $1000. He said he took longer in the operating room and that I owed him and hospital more money?? Eight months later? Really? My experience is this is NOT a Competent Physician for Lipo! Spare yourself the possibility of having to live with the results his incompetence and find a different Doctor. read more

I can't begin to express how happy I am with Dr. Barnett's services. I am 24 years old and getting my breast augmentation done has been a dream of mine for a while. Writing this review for Dr. Andrew Barnett is an absolute pleasure!!! Dr. B performed my cosmetic surgery in June of 2013. What I know firsthand is that his skills are just as impeccable as his credentials. After months of researching cosmetic surgeons, reading tons of online reviews, meeting and interviewing other doctors, I met Dr. Barnett. His confidence, his passion, and his absolute love for what he does was immediately apparent. I had several meetings with Dr. B, in which he took the time to listen to all of my concerns. What a wonderful doctor and staff! I highly recommend Dr. Barnett. I am extremely impressed! He did an eye and chin lift on me and the whole process, from the initial consultation to the 6 week after surgery check up, was great. Even the hospital staff loves him. I got special treatment because the nurses respect him so much. I was also awake for my surgery and he treated the whole staff with respect and consideration. Not only is Dr. Barnett a highly skilled, highly educated surgeon; simply put, he is a remarkable human being. For the past 3-4 years I had been researching procedures and surgeons. Doing my homework, meeting with them, visiting their offices to discuss a surgery that I knew I wanted but didn't have the clearest vision of. To be quiet honest, a lot of those surgeons didn't help me in finding the perfect procedure for my body. In fact, some left me more confused than ever. That all changed when I met Dr. Barnett. I've had two procedures performed by Dr. Barnett and each time the results and overall experience far exceeded my expectations. Ten years ago I had an eye lift. There was little to no pain, Dr. Barnett and his team/staff were very efficient and involved throughout the process, and most importantly, the results were fantastic. People commented that I looked "rested". This was the best compliment I could receive as no one said "what did you do to your eyes?" Based on that experience plus continued strong positive feedback from others on Dr. Barnett's more recent work, I returned to him in April, 2008 for a consultation on a face lift. Once again he was open and honest about what was possible and what was not. His recommendation was to not touch my eyes as any additional surgery would make them look unnatural. I also discussed a possible breast lift for the future and Dr. Barnett felt this procedure was not appropriate in my case. I really appreciated his honesty as there are doctors who would seize the opportunity to line their pockets with my money regardless of the outcome. I approached the idea of having the face lift with a lot of concern and trepidation based on horror stories I'd heard and seen over the years from others including my mother. Dr. Barnett performed the face lift on May 1 and I could not be happier with the overall experience and results. From the first consultation through the pre-op, surgery and follow up, everything has gone flawlessly. All elements are addressed and handled down to the most minute details. Prior to surgery his staff contacted me on several occasions to make sure I had all the information I needed and to confirm details. On the day of surgery, everything went very smoothly at the hospital so there was no additional stress. Following surgery as part of Dr. Barnett's process, a private nurse stayed with me that evening in the hospital. She was wonderful! I experienced minimal to no pain and felt very reassured and comforted having her there. The following day I left the hospital with no bandages and was able to go off pain medication by noon. The second day I was up and around in my house. Within one week I met some friends for lunch. They were totally blown away to see me so soon. There was very minimal bruising or swelling. I tell everyone that this is one of the easiest medical procedures I have ever had. Seriously! My surgery was on a Thursday and I was released on Friday. Dr. Barnett personally called me at home on Friday, Saturday and Sunday to check in and see how I was doing. I was so impressed by this. There are very few doctors out there that would personally call a patient over the weekend. All of this is really nice but to me the most important thing is that the results are great! No Joan Rivers look for me! Once again people comment that I look healthier, stress free, etc. No one has suspected a face lift which is exactly what I wanted. You're probably asking yourself "Is this real? How could anyone be so positive about what is usually a pretty horrific procedure?". Dr Barnett and his staff are the best. He has performed two breast augmentations and a tummy tuck on me. The results are great. Dr. Barnett is caring and honest. He will never pressure you into a procedure and will tell you if he thinks you don't need it. Dr. Barnett wants his patients to look natural which is the kind of doctor I need as I could easily end up over doing it in the hands of the wrong doctor. Also Jessica his R.N. is amazing!!! She does great filler....especially lips which is hard to do. She has never bruised me (with the exception of lips which will always bruise no matter who you go to.) She also goes for the natural look. I frequently receive compliments on my lips and everyone thinks they're natural. The only bad thing is that Jessica is only there on Wednesdays. I could go to whomever but I chose Dr. Barnett and will only see Jessica for filler. His staff is super supportive and caring. I am not exactly an easy patient but they put up with me and my high maintenance ways, never making me feel uncomfortable. Barnett is the best and I trust him 100%. In response to the comments on yelp about Dr. Barnett being friendly in a fake sort of way: If he's a really good PS who cares ? Being a plastic surgeon must be one of the hardest jobs in the world with respect to making all of your patients happy - all of the time. I bet too, most people who go to get work from a plastic surgeon are pretty particular and attentive in a way that if the slightest thing goes wrong - they notice fast. As a matter of fact, I bet some of us are real "pieces of work." I had a lot of questions and did a lot of research before I did my BA a few years back; I had a 3 inch thick binder before my procedure even began. A good PS, in my mind, needs to be comfortable and attentive with a patient like this. I met Dr. Barnett after meeting with 3 or 4 other PS's in the Bay Area. He, by far, instilled the most confidence in me and I chose him to do my procedure. Unfortunately, I had CC after my BA and it drove me crazy having one breast that was stiff and oddly shaped compared to the other - even if it was only something I noticed. I went back to Dr. Barnett and he fixed it for me at a much reduced cost. It is now 3 years after my revision and everything is fine and my breasts are doing great. The results of plastic surgery do not always go the way you think they are going to go and when that happens you need to be in a relationship with a doctor who is willing to, most importantly, continue to instill confidence (even more so than the original meet and greet) and problem solve with you. I would go back to Dr. Barnett in a second. I just wish there was a 100% guarantee that nothing would go wrong with any & all procedures (which won't happen in my life time) & it was not such an expensive venture. read more

Without going into specifics, I had a noticeable asymmetry that needed correcting. I found Dr. Barnett after chance meetings with some of his "fans" (aka patients), who highly recommended him to help me correct my problem. Dr. Barnett and I had several consultations before my procedure to ensure that everything would go as smoothly as possible. He is an artist as well (see his website), so I knew my result would be stellar. I am very fussy and had a million questions for him, but he was very patient with me and had an excellent and warm bedside manner. I chose Dr Barnett based on his reviews and also on the fact that he did my doctor's eyelid surgery. I am really picky as to where and who I seek medical care from because I am a registered nurse and only settle for the best. I remember going in to see my doctor and noticing immediately that she looked amazing. She shared with me that Dr Barnett had performed Blepharoplasty and that she was very pleased with the result. I am 56 years old and started pondering the thought of having eyelid surgery in my mid-forties. I had a breast augmentation in March 2008 and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. I am shocked and surprised at how easy the experience was for me. The staff was absolutely wonderful from the gals at the front desk to the hospital staff (yes, I like the fact that it was done in a hospital); and most of all, Dr. Barnett himself. I had already interviewed three other doctors in the Bay Area before going into my consultation and had done extensive research on the procedure and knew all the answers to my questions (even though some doctors didn't). I just surfaced after only one week of recovery time - having just had a mid-face-lift. I have to share this with everyone because I am absolutely thrilled with the results. I have zero bruising and I am amazed at how natural, balanced and beautiful I look. I met Dr. Barnett in 1995 when I had breast augmentation. I interviewed 11 surgeons and chose Dr. Barnett because he agreed to perform the surgery in a way that looked natural on my thin frame. .After years of being unsatisfied with what age and breast feeding had done to my breasts, I finally got the courage to do something about it. I am a 43 year old mother of two. I was determined that I did not want to have a lift.(even though I knew I needed it) I was very concerned about scars. The first doctor I interviewed confirmed that I did need a lift and when I expressed to her that I was so bothered by that, she became willing to compromise her beliefs and insert implants over the muscle. Later I learned this would have resulted in heavy drooping breast that I most likely would have been unsatisfied with. My first visit with Dr. Barnett started with the office having a scheduling conflict. Most of my experience in doctors offices are "we'll get to you when we can" but Dr. Barnett personally came out and introduced himself and explained about the conflict. The recovery time is the hard part. I had a couple little issues and had to call with questions. Everytime I called I spoke with Tracy- my patient consultant. She assured me of what to do and what was normal and as soon as Dr. Barnett was out of surgery he called and discussed the issue. He was always very comforting and re-assuring. A few years ago I went in search of a Dr. who could make me look a little younger than I actually am, who could help me to look refreshed, but not in a obvious way.
