Had a 4:30 PM appointment and check-in was quick and easy. The front desk staff were friendly and welcoming. I was called back promptly to begin some preliminary testing, which was simple and efficient. Dr. Chong was incredibly thorough and took his time during the exam--I never felt rushed. He's also very kind, and at the end of the visit, he even handed me flowers, which was such a thoughtful touch! I used my medical insurance and was able to get one pair of glasses covered, then chose a second pair that was outsourced. They have a great selection of frames starting at around $230. The tech who helped me was patient and knowledgeable, helping me pick a frame that really suits my face shape and process range. The only thing I'd recommend is tidying up the exam room a bit, as it looked slightly messy not sure due to a busy day since I did have a late appt but it didn't take away from the quality of care. Overall, I'm very pleased with the service I received and will definitely be returning to Dr. Chong and his wonderful team. read more

Worst Customer Service & Dishonest Pricing I stopped by without an appointment just to look at frames for my daughter's first pair of glasses. We already had her prescription and simply wanted to browse. Instead, we were met with some of the worst customer service I've experienced. A shorter, older Hispanic woman who worked there approached us. My daughter explained exactly what she wanted, yet the rep kept showing completely different styles. While I was looking at photos on my phone to compare frames from our doctor's office, she immediately accused me of taking pictures and said, "No photos." I even showed her I was looking at old photos -- still rude and unnecessary. My daughter found a pair she liked, and when I asked for the price, the rep said $500 and followed it with, "It's Tiffany's," as if that justified the markup. I've worn glasses for over 30 years and I've also worked in sales for over 20 years -- don't insult me with poor sales skills and obvious upselling tactics. I know when someone is trying to take advantage of a customer. I asked if she could note the frame info in a file so we could return next week. She refused, saying she couldn't hold it and that the glasses "belonged to another client." Why show them to us then? Why not order another pair? Why not create a simple customer file? None of it made sense. When I got to my car, I looked up the exact frames -- the real price is $300, not $500. So not only was the service terrible, but the pricing was clearly inflated. Between the rude attitude, the assumptions, the refusal to help, and the huge markup, I will never return. I hope future customers read this and choose another place. read more

The experience at this office with one of the staff members was unacceptable. I took my 54 y/o father to get glasses for the first time and we paid cash. The assistant who made this experience unacceptable recommended my dad to get bifocal glasses and we paid the extra price for them. We are cash patients, and those who know, know optometry visits are not cheap! We paid for the consultation, the frames, and the bifocal lenses- a total of $474. My dad tried out the glasses for two weeks and a half and he was seeing black spots, and objects were slanted. The glasses were just not working for him. We went back to the office to see what was wrong. If maybe the prescription was wrong and as soon as we walked in the same assistant, said that she made the glasses incorrectly and didn't re-examen my dad. They had him leave the glasses there, & my dad didn't want bifocal lenses anymore as he had a bad experience with them and requested a single vision glasses instead. Today we went back to see if they were ready. Glasses were ready and I requested a refund for the bifocal lenses because to initiate I paid the extra money for the bifocal and we didn't get the bifocal anymore. The service now was only done for a single vision glasses, and the assistant did not want to give us the refund. She confirmed again that the mistake was hers and that she fixed the glasses without charge. AGAIN the re-work done was for SINGLE VISION LENSE & yes the fixed lense was without charge because it was them who messed up! They did not give me the refund for the bifocal lenses, and said if we got glasses again with them they would give us a huge discount. We are not coming back here! Horrible horrible experience! Doctors are really nice & attentive. Are also very good on explained your prescription and answering any of your questions. Majority of the office staff are not welcoming or helpful. Patient is the one that has to do all the talking and asking the questions because they don't even let you know any info until you ask very unprofessional of them. The girl that's works at the back that's supposed to help you look for glasses or with your fittings is not helpful at all. She practically let you do everything on your own and then you're supposed to tell her what you want. She doesn't offer you to look at any in your price range. I ordered two pairs of glasses. Excited even though the front office doesn't acknowledge you. When I asked for a copy of an itemized receipt they charged me $20.00. Never have I ever been made to pay for an itemized receipt. The office manager was rude. According to regulation you can be charged a small fee of $6 for itemization on extensive bills but all they did was email it to me. Does that cost $20? I will never go back. When I first walked in they couldn't find my chart and I waited 40 minutes when they finally found it. There was never an acknowledgment or apology for it but oh well didn't care too much about until I went back a wk later. I received my new glasses from here and noticed the leg of the frame came was pulling my hair every time I took my glasses off. When I called them to try and switch them she said they could try and "adjust" them for me, although the way the frame was made with the plastic at the end it was not an adjustment issue, then the other option was to order the same frame. Why would I order the same frame again. Amongst other insurance issues. I wanted to keep my older prescription on my glasses and told her that, she said it wasn't much difference that it was only slightly increased on the left eye, not sure what she was trying to convince me of since IT WAS DIFFERENT. She said I had to get a new prescription in order for me to keep my old prescription . I get it's an insurance issue but why as patients that pay for insurance and decide our own care are ok with that. Anyways, will not be going to this place anymore. Their demeanor is off putting. I've been coming here for so long that I've recommended it to my family. Until today,   My glasses glass popped off . The lady stated that the glass was not covered and that she would not exchange it because it was scratched. I told her it was scratched because they had fallen due to improper installation. The glasses never fell to the floor; it was only one frame that pooped off; otherwise, the glasses would have been ruined as well. I just don't think it's fair to be told to pay $70 for something that wasn't my fault. They have my file history its not like this has ever happened. I also mentioned that I paid around $500, and she had the audacity to say, "Your insurance paid most of it,...Well, guess who is paying for the insurance, me, so at the end of the day I pay for the insurance and also the difference. It seemed disrespectful to me that she presented the glasses as if they were free, as if they didn't charge my insurance. I PAY for my insurance. Then I felt discriminated against because she said I didn't know how to take care of high-priced glasses because I'm used to plastic. What was the point of her saying that? I hope people will take their business elsewhere. I understand that this review may not make a difference, but I hope you will take the time to visit another location that provides better service and respects their customers. Maybe if they hadn't been rude, I would have been more understanding, but I was frustrated, so I did say it wasn't fair that I had to pay. The receipt made no mention of any of this. I'm an optician. My aunt was oversold progressives with all the extras bc she was told that they were medically necessary. She has a light astigmatism and presbyopia (age related reading glasses) She has never had issues with her distance vision. It's important to know what activities a patient may do with their glasses to recommend the best lens options. Had they gotten to understand her better, they'd know she doesn't know how to drive and doesn't work, and doesn't use computers. She doesn't need to wear gls all day for a slight astigmatism, she doesn't need anti glare, she doesn't need transitions. All she needed was reading glasses for her medications. They took advantage of her inability to advocate for herself, hoping the professionals will take care of her. Opticians are health care professionals as well as someone who works in sales; it's a delicate balance. You can read a person and I honestly feel they saw my 70 year old aunt and how gullible she was to their poorly guided advice. Go elsewhere and find an optician who gives you honest advice about what you do and don't need. read more

I came here based on a flyer I got in the mail for a $179.00 special and that Dr. Chong is on my preferred provider list for my vision insurance. Since my insurance was changing at the end of the month, I rushed to get my eyes and that of my kids checked out. I wear glasses and I knew I needed a new pair and a new prescription. My 10 year old needed some, too. The boys were fine. There was no pressure to buy any frames or any upsell, like the other reviewers wrote. In fact, Dr. Chong gave the prescription after each of us was examined not knowing if we were going to buy glasses through him or Costco. He was funny and to the point and was very patient with all of my kids (even when the baby was fussy) (I had all 4 kids by myself! Thanks, dear!). I got a great deal on Ray-Ban's but my lenses were about what I paid at Walmart 3 years ago which is to say, expensive (I have to have the UV protection, anti-scratch, anti-glare and day/night transitions (I didn't want separate sunglasses, anymore)). I'll probably get a beater pair from America's Best, but for my primary, the Ray-Ban's can't be beat. read more

I've been coming here since 2014 and I've been very happy here. Dr. Chong found out what was wrong with my eyes that others dr couldn't figure out. He diagnosed me with KETAROCONUS so if you have trouble driving at night then he will find a solution to your problem. Glasses didn't help whatsoever so he recommended me scleral lenses/contacts which I use to this day. The lenses let me read up close and see at a distance with out the annoyance of bright lights looking very bright. Also the staff, sweet ladies work the front. Lupe and Erica and the other girl with the glasses r super sweet to me. They take the time and have the patience to teach me how to apply and remove my contacts. Also Dr Chong is super cool. I scheduled and appointment for my husband and I and the lady kept shoving $25 fee if I didn't answer or call them back 24 hours before my appointment. When she called me to confirm my appointment, there was an error on the insurance that we were trying to sort out. She said if I don't call her back she will charge me $25. Came on a Saturday morning as a walk-in. I've been here once before. Years back in fact (long overdue). Anyway, I decided to come back to Dr Chong's office because my last experience was not bad at all. Sure the office could use a little cleaning up, but it's not messy to the point that I feel the doctor cannot do his job in providing my eyes the care and attention that they deserve. Dr Chong is a very personable guy! Easy to talk to and actually makes conversation with you. For this second time around I was not examined by Dr Chong himself, but by a new doctor whom I've never seen before. I didn't mind though. He looks pretty young. I'd guess he's a few years out of med school. Nothing wrong with that in my book though! He was thorough and as attentive as Dr Chong. After my eye exam was complete, I was shown a rather large selection of glasses. The attendant was nice and allowed me to take as much time as I needed on deciding which pair best suited my face and most importantly, my budget! After taking a few selfies, texting some friends and family members, finally ending with a facetime call lol I decided on a pair that the attendant recommended to begin with! haha. I've been a patient here since the age of four. Before they used to take any and all walk-ins. That is no longer the case since the pandemic, and it is actually way better!! The doctors take their time in getting you what you need and the girls in the front always try their best to assist you. I have missed a few appointments in the last two years and had to pay the $20 dollar fee (not $25) if I didn't show up but its understandable considering they are doing APPOINTMENT ONLY. They limit the amount of people so adults over the age of 18 have to go in alone. They also verify all of your information over the phone when you call to make the appointment so it makes the check in so much quicker. There is no paperwork to be done in the office. I saw some reviews addressing the fact that they ask you to "call in" instead of making the appointments inside the office. In my experience I have seen them do both. They usually tell people to call in when they are they busiest. They have really tried their best to keep their staff and patients safe during this pandemic. They are STILL REQUIRING MASKS inside the office which is great in my opinion. The machines they use are used on EVERYONE and they do disinfect after every patient but you never know with Covid so I'm grateful for that. IF YOU DONT WANT TO WEAR A MASK DO NOT COME HERE. THE GIRLS DO NOT NEED TO ARGUE WITH YOU OVER IT. THEY SIMPLY WILL NOT SEE YOU, DOCTORS RULES. I have seen some grown men and women act like children when asked to wear one. It really just ruins the the calm environment that they provide and its very unnecessary. I have lost some amazing people to this horrible pandemic and it should not be taken lightly. One more thing, the office may look closed because of the gate that is still up but they have it up to limit the amount of people coming in (I asked). I got 2 pairs of hard contacts for the price of one and 4 bottles of solution for a good price! Walks-ins are welcomed but if you get there too late be prepared to wait a little while. I try to get there right when it opens on Saturday morning! Usually glasses are 1-hour only if you pay out of pocket. If you're going through your insurance, be prepared to wait a week or so for them. Contacts are instant if you don't go through your insurance as well! This guy is so self absorbed, mean and rough! I mentioned to him that my glasses needed to be lower on my nose because my eyelashes (natural). I pulled the glasses down and he shoved them very hard up on my nose. Then, his counter girl Norma is soooooo obvious on "selling" a certain brand and/or style to the client (namely me). I was deciding between two different pair of frames and she asked her co-worker which ones she thought were nicer. I put on one pair then the 2nd pair. When I put the second pair on she tapped her nose and looked at her co-worker who then said she liked the second pair. I will NEVER EVER return to this place! Found Dr.Chong randomly through google, good thing though because I have to say he is the best Optometrist I have ever been to. I have never had such a thorough eye exam in my life, I also felt like he really cared about the health of my eyes, recommending looser fitting contacts that will help oxygenate my eyes. I went to get a contact lens exam, and left with a new pair of glasses, because I really liked my visit and felt like I'd rather support them than other places. I will never ever go to Costco again.
