So I had a root canal at Dr Picone's office probably 6 years ago. It was a horrendous experience, the dentist he brought in to do the work was young, probably very inexperienced. In the last 2 months I started having pain in the tooth and went to a dentist I know and trust ( not on any insurance I have). And he showed me via X-rays what a terrible piece of work it was. The cap was poorly fitting with gaps but the worst part was that the filler for the root canals was incomplete, in two of the channels there was no filler at all! So now i have to find an oral surgeon and the root canal has to be completely redone with a new cap at tremendous cost to me. Andrew might be a good dentist but his office did a seriously terrible job on me. Buyer beware! read more

I went to Dr. Picone for decades and had to switch because of insurance. Now I'm back because we found out our most recent insurance covers only preventative. If I'm going to pay out of pocket for dental work I want to pay Dr. Picone. I trust him. He knows everything. AND with a recent emergency he saw me quickly AND when it was clear I needed a tooth pulled he personally called Dr. Ruth (see my yelp on him - GREAT GUY!!) and then sent me right over. I came to Dr. Picone from another dentist in the middle of a complex implant procedure. I had been in this procedure 2 years prior to seeing Dr. Picone. Not only did he give me a better price (no insurance) than other dentists, he was also able to complete the procedure and give me the smile I had been searching for. He is very compassionate and gentle when drilling into your teeth lol. Also, yesterday I had another tooth crack while eating and he was able to see me within 2 hours of the incident. He worked on me for about 30 mins and I left the office smiling. Again, I found the price very reasonable! He will never do work that you don't need. When I needed a root canal on a particularly difficult tooth he referred me to a specialist. I went to Dr Picone for 20 years. Recently my insurance changed to Emblem. On my last visit he made it very clear that Emblem doesn't pay him enough. Sure enough he tried to get me to pay bogus copays to him. I called my insurance company who in turn contacted him and called him out on this. A week later I got a letter in the mail saying that our "doctor patient relationship wasn't working anymore" and to find another dentist. That's how a patient of 20 years gets treated. I was a patient of Dr Picone for many years and have sent at least 5-10 patients to him. I have nothing negative to say about him or his work. At the same time I can't recommend anyone else to go to him because of my recent experience with a billing issue. He recommended I needed a bite guard at night when I sleep. I was told that my insurance would pay some of it but that I would have to pay some of it. I told them I would like to use my FSA and I was told it would not be a problem. I got the guard, paid my portion and asked the front office person for a receipt I could submit for FSA. Again, never told anything. You can imagine my surprise when my employer wouldn't pay FSA on this because the explanation of benefits of my health insurance said they paid in full and I shouldn't have paid anything. I called Dr Picone and spoke to Krupa. First of all, she was very rude to me. She told me that they explained this and I was aware (I wasn't) and that if I wanted my money back, I can return the guard, even though my insurance company paid the amount Dr Picone AGREED to accept from insurance AND signed a contract to accept!!! It's fraudulent billing called balance billing. She told me to find a new dentist. I was not rude on the phone, she was disrespectful. She told me if I had spoken to her and not the other front desk person, I would have known this. When is it patients responsibility to know who knows what in your office? I realize that what my insurance pays is low, but why did he choose to participate then? My family and I were patients but not anymore. Think twice before you go to this office. And don't authorize to pay anything but copays, you can't get it back! read more
