I noticed that in this store, as well as in the H-E-B store far north, they can both have the same hit or miss vibe. And the vibe is either very very friendly or very, very snobby. I'm not taking away points as this is not the store's fault. That's just the vibe that I get. With that being said, I can always find amazing items at both stores, especially this one. You cannot beat the stellar selection at the store. A couple of the items that I like to come here to get are the plumcots and John Kelly chocolates. Those chocolates are stellar. Of course, I will definitely be back to Central Market but it will never be the number one store for me because of said vibe . I do also want to add to be very careful when you're driving in the parking lot here because the spaces are tight and people drive really chaotic. I was in the area and I asked Gemini where the closest place to where I was that I could get an ice/food scoop. It told me US Foods Chef Store was the closest place to get one, so I made the trip! I was impressed at the selection and quality of the food items here, as I made my way to the ice/food scoops. While I was impressed at the food selection, I was not as impressed. They only had two sizes in stock, one was way bigger than I needed, and the other was too small to be useful to me, so I had to go back to Gemini to go get help finding my right size scoop! This is an elevated grocery store with so much unique finds you won't see at any other grocery store (quail egg's & fresh octopus!) And just in time for the Holiday cooking!!! Casey has sharpened my knives for 10 years now. I have seen him do miracle things to knives that have lost the tip or their edge. I read about this place on WeChat, and thought would pay it a visit. My first impression was wow! this place must be expensive since its luxurious looking decorations set it apart from all other liquor stores in DFW area. It turned out that I was half wrong since they carry liquors that range from $5 to $9999. They carry a lot of high-end & rare brands like Luis XIII, BaiJiu, and Opus One etc. However, they do carry everyday liquor brands like Skyy, Jimbeam,Titos, Hennessy etc at very competitive prices as well. They offer wide range of selections from Chinese BaiJiu, Japanese Sakes, Korean Soju, Vodka, Cognac, Gin and the list goes on. Mind you, you don't know what color it is until you cut into it which they wanted the whole watermelon returned which we returned a 1/3 at which they stated: then stated they should give us a 1/3 yellow watermelon back. Fine then they should pay for my gas for1 hr. Round trip and MY TIME AND THE DISTRESS to correct WHAT THEY WRONGFULLY SCREWED UP which till this day they never apologized for. I'm truly thinking at this point that they did it on purpose knowing we probably didn't live there and it's just assume we would not bring it back. They were extremely cold, Unapologetic, And hateful 1) We don't do exchanges or refunds or returns straight up, letting us know they were not going to do anything. At this point, we are irate seeing they absolutely DID NOT CARE why we were upset by their mistake. They treated my niece who is a lawyer like trash thinking she was about to steal watermelon from them before we bought. So the treatment was worse when asking them to correct their mistake. There was no apology! It was "Give them people the watermelon and get them out of my shop" Just short of the "n" word and don't come back which we will gladly OBLIGE!!! Racism at its finest. Why people go out there way to treat those who are not their kind rudely is beyond comprehension. They went out of their way to berate, belittle, and talk down to us like he is God (owner). It was traumatizing. Oh, the Lady, we spoke to would say she was very respectful. She started out with a harsh, We don't do refunds, We're not exchanging. We don't do that, But I'll call my boss. At that point. My mother was irate and cursed at her, as I got rude once we Realized they weren't gonna do anything at that point things got real. As a retailer, they should understand that when you're coming in with a complaint, that's not the first thing you say to them: We're not doing anything. It was bad Customer service all the way around, but I have a feeling had we been Latino we would have been received differently.
