This review is on behalf of a 9 year old boy who had hair cut disasters before. He greatly appreciated our now 2nd visit to Andy's Barber Shop! The place is a walking Military tribute with various pieces of memorabilia covering the walls, and airplanes hanging from the ceiling tiles. Every square inch of this place is covered in Navy Seal stuff. It makes for a little boy's delight! Andy seems continously busy with quite the regular clientele. We have been to Tina twice who listened! Wow....a barber who respects the client (even though he is 9) and doesn't automatically break out clippers! This is a really cool shop...finally a good barber shop has been discovered in Ellicott City. Try it...I think your kids and well ...any man will love it!

They claim to be child friendly barbershop, but just have refused to do haircut for my 3.5 years old sun. Disgusting people!

My appointment was at 10:00 AM, but due to traffic I didn't arrive until 10:25. I felt awful, but Jaime was incredibly kind and understanding, and still took me in right away without any frustration. Once in the chair, everything went smoothly. She gave me a relaxing wash and a quick but thorough cut that turned out just how I wanted. She even shared helpful tips on how to maintain the style at home. Despite my late arrival, I was out by 11:18. The whole experience was efficient, pleasant, and professional. I tipped her well and will definitely be coming back, next time on time!

I was surprised that my hair weren't shampooed at all during my service. I did a perm so he rinsed my hair a couple times.. but no shampoo before or after. The worst thing is their towel on the washing bed (the one that would contact with your neck). It smells (like dirty towels) and the location got contact with it felt itchy afterwards the smell from the dirty towel remains on my neck as well until I shower at home this should never happen at a four dollar sign salon. Besides that, the store was clean and quiet. My appointment was 1PM - 4 PM. Only two people were working at that time--the two owners. Tbh it was the first time I saw a hairdresser do everything himself--all the preparation, cut, perming, washing, etc. The limitation of staff resulted in lack of attentiveness. During the perm, the medicine touched my face, and overall the experience was not up to the standard. I really hope that they can improve because hair coco has lots of potentials.

I loved them both so much, but they moved to LA and sold this salon. I still came here to try out the new staff. At the time, there was high turnover in staffing. But last time I was here (2018), there were 2 remaining hairstylists: Julie and an older lady. Julie does an excellent job with hair and I would recommend her. I've had issues with the older lady but I do believe some part of it is because of the language barrier. There's many reasons why i stopped coming all relating to horrible wait times, getting the opposite of what I asked for and more. However, here was the final straw: 1) They say walk-in's are welcome but when you come in for a walk-in, they get so annoyed. I once waited 4.5 hours for a cut/style. Yeah, 4.5 hours. I would've left but she had already shampooed my hair, so here I am in the chair, sitting with a towel on my hand. My wait was so long because they kept giving priority to their Korean friends who came in (I get it, you're friends). But, I mean I been waiting for 3+ hours at this point and they didn't seem to care. I had an event to get to tonight but I'm not one to be rude like that, so I just patiently waited for another hour. 2) Finally, after 4.5 hours, it's my turn. I asked for a small trim to get rid of the split-ends and a curl style. They cut off 4 inches and gave me straight hair instead. When I told her "oh no, curly, i have an event to go to," the lady seemed annoyed and said "it is curly, what do you mean?" (Please see attached picture for what is "curly" to her). I was so done at that point, I just wanted to leave and I did. For good. My new Salon: Twist in Elkridge, MD.
