Looking through the reviews, they're all pretty correct: the place is busy, the stylists/barbers seem to be very competent, they work pretty fast, and were friendly. But the place is kind of a mess, and needed a good wipe down and sweep, and the atmosphere was kind of hectic. At least it was late in the day a week before school starts and kids getting ready with last minute cuts. The prices have gone up -- $22 for a men's cut, which is on the low side of typical for the area. I'll probably be back, but I'm likely to make an appointment next time. read more

I started coming to this salon due to horrible experiences at my last one. I'm so glad I found this place. Janelle does my hair every time I come in, so I can't speak for the other hairstylists here but I'm sure they're excellent too because this place is pretty awesome. Janelle makes me point out how much I want off so there has yet to be a time where she cut off more than I anticipated. She really takes her time with my hair and always checks in on me throughout like "let me know if my brushing is hurting you" or "are you okay with this style," i really dig. She's good to talk to as well, so you don't just awkwardly sit there while your hair is being worked on. As far as the place itself goes, it could use a little bit of updating. Overall though, everyone is so nice here and prices are very reasonable too! I only paid $25 for a cut/style. Give it a try. read more

I walked in without an appointment and they managed to squeeze me in within 10-25 mins. They recommend scheduling if you don't want to wait. To get to the haircut itself, I had a nice lady named Kelly cut my hair and she is an angel god dropped from heaven to cut hair. I told her what I wanted and actually listened to my instructions! She meticulously faded my sides from 1 to 3. I have never had a better fade in my life!! She also took the time to even out my hair with scissors and paid attention to the details concerning my hair aka my cowlick. She blow dried my hair and gave me a slight massage from heaven and I swore I would have fallen asleep if she had not stopped. After the drying, she pulls out a brush of hot shaving cream and lathered it on the nape of my neck and shaved it manually with a razor! This was probably the best haircut I've ever had in my life. I will definitely be coming back and recommending this place to friends and family. To top it off, it was only $14 dollars!!! ($20 including tip which she deserves every penny of). Great little barber shop. They are very friendly and have a quick service. So far all good experiences :) and I've had my hair cut at least 10 times here! On top of that, they located in a good sized plaza with ample parking and easy access to 95/175. Lastly, the prices are pretty good as well. $13 for a male hair cut, its nothing fancy, like shampooing or geling at the end, but $13 is a good price to pay for a quick in and out. They also listen well when you ask them to make alterations unlike some other places where they just keep on cutting the way they know how. Great service and people. I usually get Denise who knows how to cut guy's hair. I used to go the Vietnamese barbershop in Columbia and while they were good, too, I felt they were too standard in their haircuts. If you want something a little more stylish, go to Twist. Of course, their standard haircuts are really good, too. Price is very affordable and the cut/service is worth way more. Good place to go if you want to try a more Euro/Asian hair cut. I usually get one of these a couple times a year to change up from my standard men's haircut. Bonus: they speak Chinese (mandarin and cantonese) so I know what they are saying. Plus, they know and remember you. I showed up Sunday for the first time in almost a year and Denise still remembered me. The guys at the Vietnamese place would remember me, too, but for some reason they'd always forget that I wasn't Vietnamese (even though they asked me nearly every time I went in there for the 2 years I was going there if I was). read more

I have been searching for a hair salon like this one for a long time. Quick but quality service, reasonable price, and skilled with dealing with asian girl hair. I came on a Sunday afternoon, and made the rookie mistake of not calling ahead for an appointment. People were trickling in one by one for their appointments, so I had to wait for almost an hour. However, the staff was accomodating and managed to squeeze me in between customers. I came in with already washed and air dried hair (I always opt out of getting my hair washed at the store because my hair dries unnaturally that way). However, to my understanding, this store charges extra for blow dries. I was assigned to Sheila (which I was happy about when I found out later that other girl customers rave about her), who cut, thinned, and layered my hair. Although my hair was abnormally thick and required cutting at least 8 inches off, Sheila was very efficient and did a very nice job in around 20 minutes. I left with a bouncey, lively head of hair and a feeling of $23 well spent (including tip). Minus one star for my boyfriends experience on that day - he was serviced by a male barber who cut his hair much shorter than what he would have liked. Hopefully nice time the barber would be more receptive to customer wishes. And general tip - always call ahead for an appointment (same day just before heading over is fine), especially on weekends. read more

Scotty did a great job with my Indian hair. She knows that Indian men's hair can be soft & wavy. It requires a different way of handling. I showed her a couple pics of what I looked like after my haircut in India and asked her to include a fadeout on the sides. She understood it well and asked questions about how I prefer to part my hair. And did a great job with the trimmer, clipper and scissors. Men's haircut is reasonably priced at $14. Been here multiple times, my dad likes this place cause the guy working there before knew what kind of cut my dad liked. But he left... Anyways Denise cuts,colors,and washes my hair and i've had very good experience! She also knew what i was thinking, i haven't told hey yet but then she says it!Happened twice when i got it cut August 20....As what they said "excellent service and price!" Little Tip- sometimes they get a lot of customers so call for an appointment so it can save you time and not have to wait at least 2 hours for your turn. Men's cuts usually take 23-30 mins. Also i got my hair color retouched and trimmed shorter. Since I have long hair, first time i got it cut here and got peek-a-boo highlights it cost me $65 blow dry and washing included... Then the second time, recently, i got it retouched and trimmed, wash also included. Cost me $48. If you're a guy and wants to get a trim, it's probably $13. read more

She put in great effort to ensure I left happy with my haircut, which indeed I did! Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, I felt very safe in the salon. I'm so glad that this hair salon exists - it is located just a 20 minutes drive outside of Baltimore. I made an appointment for 245 on a Sunday afternoon with Sheila, who also happens to be the owner of the store. There were three hairdressers on the day that I went, and they spent about 20-25 minutes per cut. I have asian hair and it is difficult to find a hairdresser that understands asian hair, but Sheila understood it perfectly. I asked for layers and she very expertly cut my hair to exactly the way I wanted it, while making me feel comfortable as she was doing it. Tips: 1. Always make an appointment, as they seem to be rather busy all times of the week; you can request a specific hairdresser 2. Expect to spend about 30-35 minutes at the salon (if you are female and are looking for a simple cut) 3. If you opt out of shampoo and blow dry, cut is 20$ plus tip for women. My boyfriend sprung a surprise date night on me and I was in a desperate need of a haircut, but wasn't able to get to my regular hair stylist, so I found this place here on Yelp. Most, if not all of the reviews are written by people of different ethnic background than myself, so I was a little concerned that my hair type and style may not be something that they are comfortable working with, but I took my chances and I'm glad I did. Location: Great location with plenty of parking, right next to ZIPS dry cleaners behind CVS. My GPS took me a little further down the road near the daycare, so be aware that it is actually the first or second turn after CVS. (Or before depending on which direction you are coming) Atmosphere: This is one of the reasons I just couldn't give this place five stars. It wasn't very clean, but it wasn't so bad that I didn't feel comfortable, just dust on the shelves and low quality furniture. If you are just looking for a basic hair cut, it shouldn't be a big deal, but if you are expecting a spa quality waiting room with a waterfall and nice furniture, etc, this place isn't for you, but I personally didn't mind, and I definitely am the type of person who would walk out of a place that is too dirty. Wait: I was the only person in there on a Monday afternoon. I called ahead to ensure a spot, but they weren't booked up by any means. I wouldn't take this as a sign that they aren't good, but as a positive that you can get an appointment when you need it. Wash: Another reason I couldn't give it 5 stars was the very short shampoo. They do wash your hair, but it was by far the shortest wash that I have had before a haircut. Staff: The staff was incredibly friendly; Five star all the way. Haircut: I have typical white girl, flat, straight, un-dyed hair. I like my hair cut long with angles at the front and long layers. The cut was better than I expected, and I'm super picky. It has been 5 days since I got my hair cut and I still like the way it lays. I am definitely impressed, especially for the price. I told the girl that I wanted more volume to my hair and asked her to use the round brush while blow drying to curl the ends a bit and she was more than happy to do so and used a product that made my hair look great! Prices: The prices here were great. I paid $25 plus tip for a wash, cut, and blow dry. Extras: The prices for other services seemed reasonable. They do waxing, and this is the first place that didn't try to get me to buy more than I needed. Most girls have had the experience of going to get your nails painted and then they say "You want eyebrows?" which makes you feel pretty crappy inside when you thought your eyebrows looked just fine. I asked the girl if she thought I needed my eyebrows done before my big date that night and she told me they looked fine and didn't push me to get a service that she didn't believe I needed. My boyfriend comes here for his haircuts for maybe 3 years now, and they do a good job every time. So I decided to try this place out for myself since my boyfriend goes here. Just your local salon/barber shop with good service and without breaking the bank! I came here on an impulse to do a nape undercut, but I was soo nervous since I've never done anything different to my hair! I made an appointment like some people say to do on Yelp, but I did it same day requesting Sheila (since people love her on Yelp). I notice the girls there are very fast, and precise... in and out! Sheila was a YES woman! She was accommodating and said that we can start out small if I want and can go from there. I can tell she took her time to make the lines straight and kept showing me in the mirror what she was doing to make sure I liked it. I loved it! She even asked if I wanted a trim since I was already there. I asked how much extra that would cost and she said just $18 (which is the typical cost for women's haircut), so why not? Definitely the best haircut I've gotten. Mary-Anne (or Mariyan?) was very efficient, you can tell these people are skilled at what they do. Great place to get a cut if you're Asian, since it seems like all the barbers/stylists there are Asian. Friendly service, I will definitely be coming back here again and again. It took 30 minutes from start to finish. Definitely go here if you want a more hip, trendy look, but I'm certain they can cut all types of hair. I just asked for something modern and clean and she fixed me right up. Unlike some other places I've been to, there is virtually no discomfort the entire time. And all this for only $13? What? Hopefully the $5 tip I gave was sufficient. Some background on me: I'm an 18 year old Chinese guy, 1-2" long hair. Got a buzz cut most of my life but decided it was time to try something different. Sheila has been cutting my hair for over 15 years and is an excellent stylist. She cuts your hair according to the shape of your head so it lies perfectly. I keep my hair very short and love her ability to precision cut it using scissors, clippers, and/or straight razor. Ladies, if you appreciate a "stylish"; short, clean hair style then Sheila is who you need to see! I recommend calling for an appointment as they stay very busy and plan to spend 30 - 40 minutes for the best haircut you have ever had. Just moved to Columbia and don't know any salon. Found this salon by yelp. Very nervous when I went in this afternoon. Denise, very sweet and beautiful, lady, did hair for me. Since I normally don't color my hair, when Denise asked which color I wanted to choose. I told her I have no clue. She chooses the color for me. Very gentle and patient and professional. Soooooo rude people. Very dirty salon i have ever seen. They don't know how to treat a customer. My hair cut really awful. One girl is didn't ever bother to cut hair instead she is so drowsy n chating all the time. Another one answers something else for my simple question, lack of communication and language skills.
