I was home on Friday evening and decided to place an order for delivery because I didn't eat all day and was too tired to go out. The food was delivered very quickly as this deli is only a couple blocks from my house, I ordered the northern boulevard which is grilled chicken, sweet roasted pepper & Russian dressing. Sounds amazing right? Well once I bit into it the chicken was disgusting and tasted like rubber and just unpleasant. I spit it out. I was so hungry I took the chicken out in one half and ate the bread with sweet pepper and dressing but when I finished that bread I couldn't even bare looking at the other half I had to throw it out. The deli consistently gets orders incorrect. Three times I have ordered delivery from them, and they have not gotten the order correct once. They will not send a delivery person to exchange the bad order with the correct one; so I have to go to the deli to get my order rectified. And when I am in the store, they show a complete lack of respect for the customer, with snide remarks and long delays in providing the correct order. read more

The deli has friendly staff who know the items, always have good suggestions and there are always several workers, allowing the long lines to move quickly. The food is always fresh and tasteful. The hot items are hot, unlike other places *cough* Matsons *cough.* The deli serves breakfast until 1PM and has a wide variety of frozen dinners and other assorted frozen goods. The prices are about average, for some items slightly higher than other delis, but it is certainly worth the cost. I would highly reccomend this place for whatever you are looking to get. Oh my gosh! Where to begin? Let me start by stating that Andy's Delicatessen is one of my all time favorite delis in NY. It is an old-style German delicatessen and is a well guarded neighborhood secret. Most people who patronize Andy's are local residents. The selections are homemade fresh everyday. They have like 100 different specialty sandwiches with interesting names and detailed descriptions posted on the wall being the counter. In addition to their delicious sandwiches, they also have an array of delicious homemade deli salads. My favorites (and the most popular) are the macaroni salad and the German potato salad. They also have chicken salad (which is made with 1 inch cubes of chicken breast) and tuna salad among many. They also make a variety of puddings and other sweets from scratch. The vanilla pudding and the chocolate and walnut brownies are a must! They also serve all your usual NY breakfast staples. I understand they get their bagels from Glendale Bagel (the best in the world--period) every morning. Their coffee is outstanding. I've asked Brian, the owner, several times what makes his coffee SOOO good and he says,"It's just coffee." As if! For the dinner crowd, they have a selection of home cooked meals which change everyday. Anything from meatloaf and mashed potatoes to beef stew and spetzle. You can order them fresh or buy them from the freezer to heat at home. The staff is super friendly and the service is quick and excellent. Great deli, some of their sandwiches are a miss though (I felt their grilled chicken sandwich was a bit dry but their fat boy sandwich is amazing!). Of course any sandwich that is just deli meat is good (can't overcook that!) The amount of food they give you in a sandwich is intense, it is a great value for what you're paying. My one complaint is that there are too many people coming here. Yes, the sandwiches are good, please go away so that I don't have to wait on line for so long! You can expect a 30 minute wait if its close to a time when people want to eat. People are pretty respectful about lining up and standing on the side for their order. I don't live nearby but today I jumped off the LIE and made a sentimental journey because I'm moving to North Carolina. I'm pretty sure there's nothing like Andy's down there. I've been living in New York for 37 years so I've had plenty of sandwiches. Nothing comes close to these guys. I wish I could bring my brother here, but he's a chef in France. I was a bit excited to find a sandwich shop in Middle Village. Everything about it look legitimate. The menu on their wall sounded delicious so I was hoping for something savory and good. However, what I got instead was a really bland chicken cutlet sandwich that was also nuked! Service was top notch. The fellas here were friendly to all of the patrons. I ordered a "Middle Village" hero. It consist of chicken cutlet, bacon, muenster cheese, and Russian dressing. For a hot sandwich, it wasn't very hot. The chicken cutlet itself was very bland, soft, and just rubbery at times. There wasn't a hint of tenderness in the meat and the outer part of the cutlet wasn't even crispy. It tasted like a grade school cafeteria chicken patty and I'm not done with the grade school references. The hero, the bread, the hoagie, whatever, it feels and tasted like the low grade bread our schools use to serve with our ravioli. Its a fluffy and soft bread that didn't go well with these sandwiches. It the type of bread that is good for dipping. I tasted the bacon, but there was barely any cheese and lack of Russian dressing in the sandwich which made the sandwich very tasteless. Verdict - I'm not going to count Andy's Deli out just yet. So far they struck out on their hot sandwiches and chicken cutlet. The sandwich was heated in a microwave for godsakes! Came here for the first time today. I had seen this place for a while but never tried it. I got an Italian hero and a ham,turkey,American with lettuce,onions, mayo on a hero. Not bad at all. 00 STARS - It pains me to write this review as I have always praised Andy's deli, and referred so many folks from neighboring communities here, however, the past few experiences and honestly the past two owners, let's face it, there has got to be another new owner, have allowed greed to guide their dealings. The quality of their food has gone down tremendously and the prices still rise. Now I understand we are in a weird time and we live in a capitalist world, however it's times as these that a neighborhood supports it's local shops and I have continued to do so through a pandemic but I will no longer. Their dinners are 12 bucks, I tend to purchase multiple ones and time after time something is not right with them. There is never consistency in how they appear to be prepared, one time it's okay to eat and the exact same order the next week is unedible...What gives??? It seems they are taking advantage of the fact that once you leave you aren't bringing unedible, tasteless food back to them and they have piggybacked off the former owner Brian who worked that store in a manner that brought customers back through the door. His staff was friendly, knew your name and often times your order before it came out of your mouth. I think there is one person left of the former crew, that says it all..... I have truly tried to support and give new owners the benefit of working out the kinks but it's been way too long and I work way to hard to continually support a business that appears not to give a hoot about the very community it serves. I realize neighborhood places change (as noted in the changes to the look and feel of the store, many times over since Brian owned it) and I am adaptable however I wish they knew the quality of how it used to be run, the care that went in to building the business and the end product that reached it's customers, the whole experience was pleasant and kept folks coming in for more....it's clear to me it's an inferior management crew and that is no longer the case.
