I am so happy I found this place. For some reason, dispite making repeated searches for restaurants nearby after moving to this area six months ago, neither yelp nor Google have ever shown me this place. I only know it exists because I walked past it. In an area with very limited restaurants, this place is unique and interesting, not to mention DELICIOUS. It is truly a breath of fresh air. Though small, the restaurant is clean and comfortable and the staff is extremely friendly and pleasant. The prices are very reasonable. Me and my boyfriend ordered the rotisserie pork belly combo ($40) which comes with a two lb log of pork belly and three sides- we chose the mac and cheese, the adobo fried rice, and the pickled vegetables. The pork is extremely tender and juicy and permeated with smokiness. The outside is crisp and the rich fatty layer melts in your mouth. Perhaps it needed a pinch more salt, but topped with the accompanying sauce, it was quite flavorful. The Mac and cheese is not my go-to style of mac and cheese, but I couldn't stop eating it. The cheese sauce is thinner and it has some pieces of onion which ramp up the savoriness of the dish. I especially appreciated that the elbow pasta was not mushy at all, and still had a nice bite to it. The bread crumbs and crunchy croutons on top were a perfect complement. The adobo fried rice was pretty good, but probably my least favorite part of the meal. The sauce is drizzled on top and if you mix it well it's fine but otherwise you end up with a lot of bland unseasoned rice on the bottom. There was also a few crunchy dry clumps of rice. It wasn't bad though, I still ate quite a bit. The pickled vegetables were so well balanced and provided a much needed refreshing crunch to this rich heavy meal. This was too much food for two people and we were hungry! This combo would easily feed three. I will certainly be returning, possibly even frequently. I can't wait to gather up a few friends to try their kamayan feast, served on banana leaves which looks decadent and incredible. read more

Cozy Spot with Fresh, Authentic Flavors The dining area is quite small and a bit cramped, which made sitting down a little challenging. However, the food more than made up for it. Everything tasted fresh and authentic. I had the lumpia, which was delicious, and the Halo Halo was just right--not too sweet, which I appreciated. The standout for me was the greens--absolutely my favorite dish of the night. The service was friendly kuya's behind the counter. First time here and it was good and brought some good memories of how lechon manok tastes like. First: Ambiance and service: it's a small place, about 4 tables and a bar like seating on the side. Service was friendly as you would expect eating in a Filipino restaurant. Restaurant was cold, the door didn't close all the way but we had a portable heater next to us. I think it's more of a take out joint. Food: Delicious! Great lechon manok, lomi and tocilog and lumpia Shanghai. The not so good, vegetable lumpia, very oily and the grilled liempo was a let down.. it was bland, tasted off, a little rancid and very fatty. Had the calamansi juice and ube coconut bar... enjoyed both. We also ordered lechon manok to go with atchara and kale laing... phenomenal laing! I'll definitely come back but will not order the grilled liempo again. FYI, there was no restroom in sight but I asked, there was one all the way to the back of the kitchen which the employee let me use. The place now has a second larger dining area with dim lighting; still counter service but they clean up after. Wanted chicken mami today but only beef pares mami on the menu. Tender, tendon-y beef; slightly toasted-garlicky taste in the broth which I like, but won't mind more garlic - it was good and tasted like chinese beef-stew style soups. The pork lechon whole slab now came with 3 sides (many options to make it a complete meal for at least 3 people). We got pork lumpia, adobo rice and kale-laing - all good. Don't like their Lechon sauce though. Like the silogs, the sisig ricebox portion is worth it. Sisig is citrusy and was perfect for my son, but hope spicy is an option. Family loves this place! Such a relief to have added variety in the neighborhood. lol do you want pasta from the pizza place or pasta from the Argentinian place? We routinely order the chicken, pork belly, adobo rice and ube shakes. The food is always great! I took one star off for minor inconsistencies from order to order (ube shakes packed w treats one time, straight up shake next). Again, always great though. I hope this place stays and prospers. To add, we've stopped in a few times on some of our walks and the staff is always so pleasant. Thank you for allowing my kids to read the books while they waited. Great Filipino desserts! All the food I've tried here is awesome but I've just got to shout out the Ube Coconut Bar which is just darn the best Ube dessert I've ever had. These bars are moist with a perfect gentle Ube flavor and a perfectly generous toasted coconut coating. After so many tries of missing out on the calamasi cupcake, I finally got my hands on one and can report that it is also equally yum! I'll say I had almost given up on this elusive cupcake, it seemed like a ghost, I always seemed to miss the last call. The buttercream frosting is not too generous just the right amount, the cake is moist, and the calamansi flavor comes through subtlety. The Halo Taho is definitely sweeter and perhaps a bit much that can be shared. The soft tofu just slides down and the bubbles provide a slight playful chew. I've tried a few mains here and my favorite has to be the sausage and fried runny egg over garlic fried rice. It is so garlicky good, make sure you have a roll of mentos ready after your meal. I am however slightly disappointed that the meal itself is now in smaller packaging that means you get less bang for your buck compared to what it was before. The pork belly also does not lack in being a flavor bomb, I'd get this more often if my waistline wasn't expanding over this past winter already,.... LOL. The location of the area gives you a break from the hustle and bustle of Little Manila. It's a quiet neighborhood on Dry Harbor Rd in Middle Village. After visiting Atlas Mall, I came to visit since I wanted halo halo in such a humid day. There's parking available in the residential side. The halo halo had a nice presentation but it lacked ingredients. I felt there was more ice than ingredients. It wasn't an even ratio for $8.99. Although I like the nice touched of the crunchy banana chip and ube halaya which was different compared to halo halo in the Little Manila area. I had also ordered a to go of lechon Manok which is a charcoal rotisserie chicken in a lemorgrass spice rub (half a chicken includes 2 sides). The chicken was delicious, it was moist on the inside and crispy on the outside. For my 2 sides I chose lumpia which are pork spring rolls that came in 4 pieces that included a sweet and sour sauce. I'm used to lumpia in a smaller version, there spring rolls are the size of regular Chinese egg rolls. The filling was alright but they can do better. My second side option was the achara Rotonda which are pickled veggies. It was nothing impressing. This place has indoor seating but it doesn't seem like they have AC. Middle Village is not a place I imagined finding my go-to spot for Filipino food, but I sure am glad I came across Chick'n Rotonda. I turned a corner onto Dry Harbor Road and got a whiff of something amazing and was thankful it led straight to the restaurant's door. The food here is fantastic and I was hooked from my first visit and came back three days in a row. The chicken is phenomenal and bursting with flavor, and when paired with the aromatic and superb adobo fried rice, I can't think of a better meal. The lumpiang gulay are a must as a starter or side, but the kale la-ing is my favorite side to partner with the abode fried rice. I love breakfast/brunch dishes that include fish so the bansilog was a solid choice and sticking to seafood the escabeche red snapper filet is also an excellent option. I also highly recommend the ube coconut bar and the calamansi cupcake (available only on weekends), both of which are tasty and decadent. The family that owns the place is very sweet and genuinely kind, I felt as if I were visiting someone's home rather than a restaurant. Service is obviously A+ and they genuinely pour love into every order so be patient as it may take a bit longer to prepare the food since it's made fresh. I usually call ahead and estimate 25-30 minutes for the food to be ready and it works out well in terms of timing. Excellent food and service and at very reasonable prices. Overall the food was pretty good with decent prices. It doesn't have a huge selection of typical Filipino favorites like lechon kawali, but the food they did serve was solid. I liked their adobo garlic rice, which was super tasty. The lumpiang Shanghai was great and crispy. The lugao with adobo chicken was unique but also quite good. I was craving Filipino and found this little gem! Had the sisig liempo platter rice box, delicious and flavorful. Lumpia shanghai rolls were also delicious and fried to perfection, they do not skimp on the pork filling My only complaint is I wish the sisig dish had spicy chili peppers to cut down on the pork fat, the menu did say red chili pepper on the side but it was not found on my dish, nonetheless the pork sisig was still flavorful and tasty. Authentic Filipino food in Middle Village! Woohoo! It's a pretty small place - even post-Covid I doubt they'll do much dine-in. But the food is excellent and the wife/husband team working there was so friendly. The chicken rice box was terrific. The rice in particular was perfect. Not salty but flavorful. Chicken was tender and delicious. Also we got their burger (pork sausage patty) and fries. Fries were tasty and the sauce on the burger was also quite flavorful. As my wife and I generally try to avoid red meat (her more than me), there aren't a ton of non-pork options. This is filipino food with a twist. I've ordered from here a number of times, and I have found the items that I like best. The lugaw is actually a favorite of mine and I order it whenever I'm feeling under the weather or in need of comfort food. Their namesake roasted chicken is very good! I love the accompanying sauce, it really makes the chicken come to life. I've tried the kale laing, chop suey and achara and disliked all of them. Longsilog and their lumpia are solid. The chicken adobo wasn't as good as Mom's and the portion was small. Taho and calamansi cupcake are great. The prices here are high in my opinion for the portions you get. This isn't the case for all items as the lugaw is priced fairly, but everything else seems excessive. $17 for a whole chicken? $6 for 3 veggie lumpia? $6 for a side of plain rice? Why is plain rice the same price as adobo rice? Their menu is on the smaller side, I'd love to see a few more options, especially for non-meat eaters and I'd love for them to either charge less or beef up their portion sizes. read more

Food has gone downhill. Last time I visited I ordered lechon and you can tell that it's not newly cooked. "Ininit" in tagalog- meaning it was recooked again. You know when you have leftover lechon from the party and you fry it in oil the next day. That's what it was. The skin was rubbery and it tasted old. Too bad because I really like this place. They answer all questions you may have about Filipino cuisine, they helped me pick out a few items and explained to me what was in it and all, which was very helpful. I only tried this place once but so far I'm a fan. I had the chicken adobo over rice and the 1/2 pound pork belly. The chicken adobo was well flavored and a decent amount of chicken for the rice box. I did feel it was missing some kind pickle or some other kind of element to make the chicken over rice a little more interesting. The pork belly was also solid and a good value for the price; It also didn't taste super greasy. I also love the fact that there is free parking right outside that didn't seem too busy; a rarity in queens unfortunately. I did want to try the the cupcake but it wasn't ready at 12:15 unfortunately. In any case I'll be back here to try something new to see what else is good. read more

Would never have imagined a Filipino spot in Middle Village!! Finally!! They have the most authentic Filipino food- so delicious and made fresh to order. We made sure to try a bit of everything but some of our highlights: - liempo: SO flavorful and salty - lumpia shanghai (always a must with Filipino food) - sisig!!!! Our favorite out of everything. Perfect amount of citrus as a traditional sisig should be - adobo rice: surprisingly packed with so many layers of flavor. Very different from other Filipino fried rice that sometimes lacks in garlicky goodness - chop suey: vegetables were cooked to perfection with a nice crunch - lechon manok: chicken was moist with salty crispy skin - calamansi cupcake was THE BOMB. Definitely our second favorite! The citrus flavor from the calamansi was not too overpowering but added a nice subtle sweetness to the frosting. Definitely would recommend this place! I was torn between a 4 and a 5, but this place deserved at least a 4.5. I ordered sisig liempo rice, taho, and an ube coconut bar. The sisig liempo rice tasted like the flavours of my heritage and I'm not even Filipino. The flavours were delicious and I would have been happy with a few more lil chili to set my mouth on fire, but I like that they were considerate enough to not overwhelm their patrons. The ube coconut bar had a brownie texture and was not too sweet. Taho is appropriately not sweet either and it's a good protein-packed dessert that looks like a piece of art. I was so surprised and happy to find this Filipino food place in Middle Village, which did not used to be known for a wide variety of restaurants offering a diverse array of ethnic cuisines. (this is changing bit by bit though!) I was craving something porky and salty, something veggie, and maybe some noodles tonight, and decided to order takeout to try Chick'n Rotonda. I ordered the Lumpiang Gulay (fresh and crispy hot veggie Spring rolls), the Sisig Liempo Rice (best tasty pork belly with the fluffiest rice!) and the Pansit Sotanghon (sautéed glass noodles with veggies, shiitakes, and tofu). I'm going to admit that I kind of just inhaled everything...it was all so fresh and perfect! I will agree with another reviewer who said they liked Chick'n Rotonda better than any place in Woodside, and I have eaten at many. I will definitely be back...and with the way I feel right now, probably at least once a week! I've ordered from this restaurant three times now and every time was consistently delicious food. Some favorites are definitely the "liempo" (pork belly) soo good especially when doing the combo to get your money's worth, "kale la-ing" think creamed spinach but creamed coconuty kale instead, and the ube bars- amazing taro like dessert bars with toasted coconut on top. I usually get a cup of coffee to eat with them because the beans are sourced from the Philippines. Overall, a great addition to the neighborhood. read more
