They should take resort out of the name. Having traveled plenty abroad and domestically this place felt like a motel 6 at high prices. I paid around $300/night for a room that was in need of a lot of TLC (see pics). Motel 6 might be nicer???? I mean it's been a while since I frequented one of those for a high school party?!?!? The heat was horrible. Our room was so hot! We had the 1970's unit turned off but the room stayed tundra hot. We had maintence come one day 2. After all of one minute he said IDK and left??? We had a box fan on high the entire time as well as windows open when it felt okay (the car exhaust from the parking lot prohibited that at times. There was zero security. None of the rooms on the left side (when facing the place) on the "resort" were locked. I take that back. One was locked but only because it was broken and wouldn't open at all (door 2). This place will nickel and dime you to death! Food and drink is ridiculous. $4-5/soda, $18-$20 for chicken nuggets or burger with fries (my kids told me their school food was better?!?!?). And lose the keycard...that's $35 for each lost key. My kids held on to those with their lives!!! And the keycards barely worked. I stopped counting the number of times we had to the keycards rekeyed. Ugh. The pool and hot tub are surrounded by slippery tile. Super smart?!?!? And my youngest kid got a rash from the hot tub. Thank goodness Ed's I had hydrocortisone cream. When the bubbles aren't going the hot tub is cloudy. Ick! And if you want to talk to management. Good luck! You'll have to EMAIL to talk to them. The boots I rented sliced my shins all to hell after one hour ski school. The rental place tried to blame it on my attire (having more than my socks in the boot). Nope, I watched the Angel Fire video on what to wear. I never got a sorry. Here's a free $5 soda on us. NOTHING. And the final item that secured us take time out of my day to write this review. I was waiting on someone to back out of a parking sport at El Jefe to eat. A surfer looking dude told me to move cause I was holding up traffic. I pointed the the car pulling out. He said he didn't care. As I'm old and give zero eeffs...I sat there and waited. After looking at the menu we didn't eat there. So I could have saved myself the heartache. But man...the staff. So the staff...a good portion are drifters from hotel to hotel during the season. A lot sound like CHEECH. Most don't give any thought to your experience or satisfaction, with the exception of the ski instructors. I will said Daniel was the bees knees!!! And after hours the staff like to hang at the overpriced diners onsite and talk about their hippie beliefs such as queerness and Trump. As if my kids need to hear any of that? As if I care??? And maybe I'd like a seat at the bar, but there weren't any due to the staff. David- your bias is showing. I didn't say anything about anyone's ethnicity or politics. I said keep the staff's political views away from my KIDS. The staff talked about THEIR political beliefs in guest spaces. I could not care less what the staff think politically. I do care if my 11 & 13 yo have to hear it at dinner in the only restaurant open for dinner inside the lodge. I also didn't say anything about ethnicity. But since you bring it up...the folks I interacted with were all white. I was pointing out they all seem like stoners. The part about roaming from resort to resort was a topic I asked the 6 staffers sitting at the bar while waiting on my family to arrive so I could move to a table. I specifically asked how they started working at Angel Fire. Those are their words. I went ahead and changed my stats to a 1 based on your response. After reading your Google reviews too this place is hit or miss. For the prices there should only be hits. read more

My review is solely on the tubing experience. They didn't have a lot of snow so the slides were terrible. Several of us would only make it 1/3 or barely half way down the hill and had to walk the rest of it each time. Worst tubing experience ever! They had to spray our tubes with oil but that didn't even work. read more

Beautiful, easy to navigate, green and blue runs help us feel secure in knowing the kids (20, 18, 11) will navigate them safely and we don't have to worry! All of the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. A special shout out to Greg at the ski rental shack for always being warm, friendly, and so helpful! It's sad to see how the resort has gone downhill over the years. I came over the 4th of July weekend and was shocked that they stuck my handicapped parents in a room far away where we had to make our way through construction debris, piles of materials, and clear ADA violations abound. If one of my parents was injured trying to get to the room it would have been quite the easy victory and lawsuit. The room itself was fine, but nothing special. The trails are great, fishing is fun, and so are other activities out of the room. But they really need to take care of guests, owners, and the like especially anyone who might have a disability visible or not. read more

This review is for our experience with our wedding, only. At the beginning of our conversations with the wedding coordinator at Angel Fire, we felt like it was a disorganized process. We felt we could accept these issues because of the venue price. We signed a contract that had us in specific locations on the mountain for the ceremony, reception and lodging all close to the base with amazing views. In the months that followed, we were informed that the Angel Fire wedding coordinator was on family leave and not available to help. At this point, we were emailed and spoke on the phone to many different Angel Fire staff that discussed a variety of topics, who were totally new to us, or did not seem to know our previous conversations with the coordinator, or were not able to offer the things that the wedding coordinator had previously agreed to. We felt that we essentially had to start over again. At some point in this, we were informed that the wedding coordinator was no longer working with the organization. We felt like this turn of events threw everything from a disorganized process into chaos. Angel Fire sent an email about 2 months before our wedding date saying they were not hosting our wedding due to maintenance and staffing issues. They offered to move it to different venues, which we felt were not the amazing outdoor venues that we had selected, or a full refund plus 5% to us to cancel. Given that we were so close to the wedding date and the venues that were proposed were not places that we wanted to hold a wedding, we opted to cancel and try our luck somewhere else. When our guests called to cancel their hotel reservations like Angel Fire asked that they do, we heard from our guests - they felt the people that they talked to were not nice to them on the phone when they canceled, and in a few cases felt they had to call multiple times to get their refund. read more

Came here for a work trip and was surprised that this place can stay in business. The room had a strange smell to it and we found a dirty towel under the sink that seemed to be put there to help catch water. There was a huge crack in the ceiling, the toilet was not even secured to the floor, and there were cracks in the bathroom wall as well. The air vents looked like they had not been cleaned or changed out in years. Also the bedding they give you is awful. It was literally a sheet and the thinnest blanket you could imagine. Even with our heat on full blast I had to sleep with a jacket and hat on because it was so cold in the room and the bedding did nothing to keep me warm. This hotel is located in a beautiful location tucked up right beside the mountains. It has so much potential and could be truly wonderful if some of these issues were taken care of. read more

Enjoyed a very nice day of spring skiing at Angel Fire. They have a shuttle from the day parking lot to the mountain. This is an old school ski place. Nothing fancy. Definitely a family place, lots of families enjoying the outdoor areas for them to hangout. They have long high speed quad from the base to the summit. I recommend skiing the front of the mountain first because the snow can get soft and slushy in the afternoon. The back side also has a high speed quad. Plenty of terrain for all levels. The Summit restaurant has nice views and lunch options (a bit pricey) but nice. It was worth my day trip. read more

We recently spent 4 days at Angel Fire Resort. Planning our first family ski trip, we were looking for lodging that had skiing onsite. We wanted to arrive, park & be able to enjoy everything WITHOUT leaving. Angel Fire Resort checked all of those boxes. Everyone, and I mean all of the employees, were a extremely cheerful & helpful. They were able to help or point us in the right direction when needed. Our room was a little outdated but overall it was fine. More lighting would have been nice. Good beds & the hot water in the shower was . Everything is up hill. EVERYTHING. I mean I should have known that going in, it's at the bottom of the mountain, but man there are stairs everywhere. All in all, we enjoyed our trip and would stay there again if going to Angel Fire. read more

Friendly staff throughout the ski resort but trails were very limited. There was only one main trail that was open, then there's the beginner slope and the Chile express lift was only available for premium members or ski class students. So, I have no idea what's up on that path. Kind of a bummer. $85 ski lift tickets for one path seems pretty pricey. If majority of your trails are closed, I think there should be a discount on lift tickets. Just a thought. read more

We came to Angel Fire for some skiing and boarding. Place was average and not very interesting. Due to the lack of snow there were only a few runs open. They claimed there were 11 runs open but there was really only 2 greens and 1 blue. There was a lack of anything on the back part with no restaurant, no decent bathroom, and not even a trash can. I have been to third world country resorts that were far better. We weren't expecting a fancy place but this place isn't even well maintained. read more

My wife and I stayed at one of the Snow Fire condominiums, which is on-site at Angel Fire ski resort. The specific address was 15 Squaw Valley Lane, unit 105, Angel Fire, NM 87710. This location is walking distance to the ski lift, golf course, and close to a grocery store. This condominium was super clean and quaint. This condo had a master bedroom with king sized bed with heated mattress pad, attached bath, and television. A guest bedroom contained a queen bed with heated mattress pad, television and detached bath across the hallway. Both full bathrooms were stocked with an array of bath towels, shampoo, and soap. The living room had an indoor fireplace, working heater, huge screen television, 2 couches, and carpeting. The dining/kitchen area had a 4 seat high top table, refrigerator, microwave, stove, oven, dishwasher, sink, and coffee maker. There were utensils, pots and pans, plates, glasses, dish soap, cutting boards, and cutlery, as well as condiments and spices. There were a clothes washer and drier and an outdoor patio with barbecue grill and two seat table. A parking area is a ten second walk from the condo and there is a space as you enter to lock up your mountain bike(s). Sara provides a beautiful welcome basket and emergency contact numbers in the kitchen area. Also, free WiFi was included. If you are looking for a clean, comfy place to stay when visiting Angel Fire or the ski resort, then try Sara's condominium. You won't be disappointed. read more

Ever since my dad owned a condo up here it has always been great. We go every month at the beginning of march to ski and it is great! The condos In Sunlodge stay really warm. We will continue to come here and enjoy the slopes and delicious mountain water. We haven't come up here in the summer but want to in the future. read more

The skiing is fine. The resort management is awful. The ski school people are awful. Skiing on popular weekends gets stupidly crowded, like a run every 2 hours crowded. There are very few places to eat. Most of the condos were built during the late 70's early 80's and most haven't been updated since. If you're local, go to Taos. My significant other and I spent 5 nights in 209B from February 19 to February 24, 2022. When we left i left some items under the sink accidentally. I called on 2-26 and was told that items left would be returned to the renter with a $25 finders fee and shipping. I followed up today and was told nothing had been turned in. I was also told their employees are honest--obviously not! I lost electric hair tools, expensive shampoo and conditioner as well as various other items. I got the feeling they just blew me off. They should not offer to return items IF it is not their intention to do so. I would not recommend anyone stay at this Resort if that is the way it is managed. the room was very drafty. Every window leaked cold air. The second bedroom was uninhabitable. The key to the ski locker was not available. read more

Beautiful scenery, right? We had planned on spending a nice late summer weekend in Angel Fire- doing some local activities, trying some new restaurants. It was only a quick 2-hour drive from Albuquerque. Well, we got there and our room wasn't ready so we did a little exploring. We should've planned a little better, but a storm rolled through, it was in the 50s, and we didn't bring any sweatshirts. So, we raided the hotel gift shop with purple sweatshirts with wolves and glow in the dark "Angel Fire" letters stretched across the front. Our room was ready, and then we decided to eat at a pizza place down the street (review to come...). By then, we had already seen or done most everything in the resort/town. My parents were bored with the idea of staying and we packed up and headed home without even staying 1 night. Now, that was some trip. What a sweeeeet spot for mountain biking. Friendly and helpful crew. Make sure you wear a full face helmet! Trails are clean and well maintained. I was there Labor Day weekend--they kept us moving--quick lines. Many trails to choose from. The Green Easy Trail is not so easy easy--start here! I stayed in the lodge. I stayed in the lodge right next to the trails. HUGE clean room. REMEMBER to use the fan--it's in the closet. Plenty of hot water. I look forward to going again. Mediocre service, out of date rooms, no organization to be found. We came here for military winter fest 2018 and received our booking at Angel Fire within our travel "package". Our arrival and check in went okay, but the receptionist new nothing about the event, or who to point me to for more information, and it seemed like she really didn't care. We went to our room and noticed the chlorine smell. Not sure if our headaches were from the altitude or the chlorine to be honest. Not only that, our room was DARK. Only four table-type lamps and a huge fluorescent light in the bathroom. The ceiling was high, so no matter how many lights you have on it still seemed dark in the room. Everything is outdated, the shower is so rough it hurt, and there was clearly mildew issues in the bathroom from the lack of a fan to get the steam out of the room. Our first actual day, we wanted to go tubing. I told the receptionist that we wanted to tube with our toddler, she said to go to the reservation desk up the stairs. When we got there they said "I'm not sure why they keep sending you guys up here, you will have to buy tubing tickets at the ticketing office" okay, Cool, off we go. We get all the way to the top where you buy tickets and the lady says "she is too short to tube" um... wtf?! There were clearly BABIES tubing on the bottom of the slope. She still wouldn't sell me tickets but gave me the lovely advice of going back to the resort to find another place to tube. Useless. Someone else recommended some country club... additional bs. We finally talked to a local who recommended going around the condos where there were tons of hills untouched-this turned out to be the best option!! This cluelessness continued throughout our trip. I'm just hoping they can figure out how to give me my safety deposit back. The only saving grace was the restaurant inside-Legends Grill-which is awesome! If you're hungry, stop by, but sleep somewhere else. read more

We drove from San Diego to Florida and this was a must stop for some trail riding. The viwes will take your breath away, seriously so beautiful. It had rained a few days before we arrived so the trails were very wet. Being from California we don't ride in the rain. I did one ride and decided I needed to keep my self in one piece, so I did some hiking. My boyfriend rode all day and had a blast. The lift crew and bike shop, bike rental staff are so rad. Very friendly and helpful. The resort is beautiful and is super clean. The staff welcomed us and made sure we were always taken care of. We will definitely be back in the future because I want to ride these trails read more

SUPER SPREADER: My major concern was their total lack of safety precautions amidst a pandemic. I was there on 12/28 and there were 15+ minute lift lines with little to no social distancing and the "mask requirement" was not enforced in the slightest bit. Standing right next to unmasked texans for 15-20 minutes at a time? no thanks! Even if it is outside... My experience at Taos was the complete opposite - they had staff working there to enforce social distancing and require everyone to wear masks. In terms of snow, it was a good day but the fact that they only had one lift that served a long slow green and another lift that served literally every other open run made for super long lift lines. The runs were wide enough to avoid the many beginners that weren't the most predictable but if you're an intermediate or above skier, This is an easy "no thanks" with Taos being about the same price, offering tons more terrain, and wayyyy shorter lift lines. I didn't bother using the second day of my two day pass and in speaking with the guest services manager, he offered no resolution, ticket window offered me a $35 change fee to another day but since I won't be returning, I just ate the extra cost. It may be more enjoyable if you've got antibodies for Covid-19 read more

We came here for the great mountain bike trails that they are known for. Unfortunately this location should not be considered a resort. Upon our arrival the hotel looked okay from the outside. As you enter the hotel I felt like I was in the movie Hot Tub Time Machine. We could not believe how outdated the place was. The lady at the front desk made no eye contact during our check-in. Not sure if they are not used to Hispanics checking in but it felt weird. Our room was pet friendly with no AC! We had to call the front desk to request another room but they claimed they were booked so they provided us with two fans. Fans were not able to keep the room cool due to the humidity that day, so we have to open up the window with no screen. The room still had that early 80s vibe along with everything in that location. My two stars are for the bike park since most trails were closed and the hotel stay SUCKED! read more

If you've ever been to UT's Brian Head before, this place is like Brian Head before the acquisition, management change, and high volume visitor traffic. Great mountain with great snow and slopes for beginners to advanced levels. The ski resort isn't much of a resort and their lodging options are limited and def not lux. No apres ski activities. Luckily it's only 45-60 min away from taos so it's easy to drive in. Parking is a bit of a hassle since from the looks of it most visitors seem to be commuters. They've got two (maybe three?) rental shops so you've got options whether you want to rent near the parking lots or at the base of the mountain. One suggestion I'd give to angel fire is to improve the restaurant at the peak. Increase range of food items even if they're on the simple side, and would also help to increase seating capacity. read more

Really: why would you? Stayed here over the weekend for a wedding, hard to imagine how this place operates the way it does. Super funky town. Website for booking is out of date. WiFi only works in the lobby. Coffee bar in the afternoon is free but they charge in the morning. Our bathroom had peeling wall paper and a broken shower rod. All the rooms have no central lighting, just old lamps in the corners. Oh, and there were fake Christmas trees for decor in our room. Additionally, I know the wedding party that used their event services was really not happy with the assistance they received for their event. Crazy part is it's a huge hotel and it was booked all weekend. So I don't get why they can't get with some updates and remodel. read more

For a summer resort this place is highly overpriced for what we experienced. I wonder what they they feel that their rooms are worth in the winter. I was shocked as we entered our room to find out that the room did not have any form of air conditioning. In today's world where do you spend $200 for a room and not have a way to make it a comfortable temperature for sleeping. Oh I know you are supposed to open the windows and get fresh mountain air. So let's look out our window (picture included). We have a great view of a brown wall and get to hear all the traffic coming into the checkin area. Yes that means that you get to listen to every idling diesel truck that arrives, hear every car door slammed and hear the tranquil tones of car horns as people lock their cars. Not the mountain tranquility I had hoped for. In addition the lodge is dated. From the beat up hallways to the dated fixtures, cabinets and tubs in the room I would not but this one on anyone's recommendation list. Overall it was a disappointing experience and a poor nights rest. Don't let the mountain pictures in their marketing materials fool you. read more

Great experience. Paid for a snowboarding class and it did not disappoint. Our instructor Jordan, is very knowledgeable, super nice and works very well with first timers. Only issue was the long lines for equipment pick up, they only had one person fitting for boots and a line out the door. I will come back next year because the experience was awesome. read more

And when we've sent emails and mentioned it to the front desk when we checked out and they just said 'ok' so they obviously don't need our business, very sad we were hoping for such a nice vacation and just about everyone but the shuttle drivers (we tipped generously they were that awesome) were rude-no customer service. My stay here was okay. The resort is outdated with old sinks, no AC, and uncomfortable beds. We did enjoy eating breakfast at the coffee shop in resort. I highly recommend eating at Elements Country Club for dinner. As far as the skiing, the resort is more aimed for intermediate skiers. There are a lot of little kids on the bunny slopes and greens. I don't recommend trying to teach someone who hasn't skied on these slopes. Get them a lesson! The biggest frustration was the maid service. They came by our room ONCE during our FIVE day stay. The one time they came at 4:20 and told us they had to leave by 4:30 because that was when their shift was over. They asked what they NEEDED to do. We asked them to change the sheets and they asked Why? My friend said because that's what happens at every hotel. I grabbed some towels off their cart. They changed the sheets, that's it. If I could rate sections separately, I would. The room is nice, clean, big. Bed is very comfortable. At check in, one person was very helpful and pleasant. But, when I came back in to ask about parking, the young lady I spoke to was super rude. Parking: there is about 10 spaces in front and when those are full you park a block away. The hours of operation are ridiculous and no employee seems to know what is going on. Example: tried to go to the hot tub and we stopped at the front desk to inquire when it opens. The employee replied she was not sure. We asked her to call and find out. She said she didn't know who to call. Restaurant: the bar and grill is only open from 4pm-9pm. We walked in at 9:02pm after we just just checked in and were told "too bad". Coffee shop/gift shop: 9am-3pm. ****Village Haus Restaurant and Bar: saving grace of the resort is the restaurant. The food is great quality, hot, fresh, large servings, and great price. The staff is friendly and helpful. They should train the staff in the hotel. read more

We came here for snow tubing, which is the safest winter fun I know. Instead due to the poor design of the tubing slope, on the very first run I bumped my head into the blocker at the end of the hill and rolled over. They made me lay on my stomach and didn't provide any halmets. The person at the top knew it was our first run but failed to provide full instructions that if you don't drag your feet hard enough you'd hit your head. After I came stressed and in tears to the office, I was informed of the no refund policy. So they'd rather keep my $25 than make it safe or enjoyable for customers. I'd done snow tubing before and I didn't even expect it to become such a poor experience, thanks Angel Fire resort! If the management would like to improve their practices, I'd highly recommend Winter Park, CO for a great example of safe and fun tubing. read more

This review is about the Ski Area not the lodging. Had a great time snowboarding at A.F. Incredible customer service where I bought 3 t shirts at $11.00 a piece, nice cap and cool looking stickers. The staff up on the mountain were upbeat and positive to all that were in the lift lines. Plus I had my pic taken while riding up on one of the lifts, which i looked on line when I got home and bought the photo. I forgot to get a shot glass ( I collect from every ski area I ride ) So I called the rental shop asked if they could send one to me and they did. Overall, I would go there again. read more

Went here for the first time yesterday with my girlfriend. I have been to multiple bike parks and the length and quality of these trails were great. Even more than the trails though the employees working the lift were awesome. You could tell they genuinely like and care their jobs and put off a great vibe and give incredible customer service. Individually, Matt gave us recommendations for trails, helped us find a bike pump, helped my girlfriend learn how to load her bike, and brought us a trail map when we didn't see where they were, all with a smile on his face.
