Angel Maid Bakery has gone down hill a little bit. Their hours are not what they say and their lot for parking is very small. That said, their service is still great and they are very nice. They are limited in what they will do. If you bring in a photo of a cake you want, chances are they won't be able to do it. They do not do images at all. They have a book and you can pick a cake. Their selection in store is very good, but I am so sick of most of them having a whipped cream frosting that you have to keep cold. I don't like cold cake. Their selection of butter cream is lacking. They do have a nice selection of cupcakes with butter cream frosting which is great. When you have them write on a cake you pre ordered you can tell they took very little time to do it, it is sloppy and there is nothing but what you told them to write. Most bakeries add a little flower or something to present the name. I just had a lemon curd type cake from them and I noticed the sloppy writing and the cake was so sweet I could not eat it, and of course, it was cold. I won't be back. That is sad. I will find another bakery that cares. But I still give them a 4 because I know a lot of people like sweet cakes with whipped cream frosting and their service is very good. read more

I called to make an order of dozen plus cream puffs and 1/4 sheet guava cake for a birthday party. I was asked for my credit card, and they gave me a confirmation number for pick up on the day agreed upon. I asked if a friend who lives closer to bakery could pick it up with the confirmation code and they said yes. I was not told that my friend would have to pay using their card on the day of pick up. I was under impression that they already had my information so that was confusing, and I wish they could be more clear on this to inform the person picking up. I agree with others that the cake is not too sweet. Presentation is classic 1990s cake - fun! The frosting and bread were okay, not bad or special. The guava flavor was artificial tasting, sweet, and unfortunately missing its tart natural flavor. The cream puffs were okay. In my case and in my friends' cases who always grew up on AM, it's still good but definitely missing the same pizzazz. The cake my friend recently bought was a bit dry. The strawberries were ok. Hands down one of the best bakeries in the area, if not the best. I was recommended to come here by my barber and I'm so glad I did. Prices are fair and quality of goods is top tier. Heads up, parking here is hard to find so you might need to go a little early to give yourself time. Theres only 2 stalls at the bakery itself the rest is street parking. Inside is also quite small for where you order. If you come on a weekend, you better get there when they open. Lines can get long, but they move relatively fast. The staff here are very friendly and willing to help you out. I think the person that helped me was Miko and she was awesome! Thank you for the suggestion and know I'll be back very soon for my next cake fix. This place has the best Tiramisu I've had in a long time. The last time I had one that nice was in Italy so make sure you get that when you go here. The texture to the bite to the taste, just perfection! The Chocolate Pudding Cake was also excellent. The ever running joke for an Asian's approval of a dessert is that it's, "not too sweet." Asian or not, the not too sweet component just means things are well balanced and everything compliments each other well. Spongey chiffon, light and airy whipped cream, sweet and tart fruit jam makes for an excellent and reasonably priced cake. At Angel Maid the staff is very friendly and accommodating when taking orders in person or over the phone. They ask for 1 week notice for orders but depending on how busy they are have accepted shorter notice. I've known about Angel Maid for decades because every Christmas a relative brings their fabulous cream puffs for dessert, but this was my first actual visit. They seem to specialize in special orders and pre-orders, mostly cakes. I did a pre-order myself for a fruit tart. All orders are done by phone or in-person, nothing on-line. You pay at pick-up. Charmingly old-school! Angel Maid is located on busy Centinela Ave and has exactly 2 parking spots in their lot, one is for handicapped. Street parking was fairly easy. I picked up my gorgeous-looking fruit tart without incident, and also got a few items on-site: a pretty pinwheel danish with apricot and raspberry toppings, plus a maple-frosted tea cake. There were a few items in-store that were single-serving size. More evidence of the bakery's old-school ways: when paying, there's no computer screen they turn around to encourage/force you to add a tip! There wasn't a tip jar either. The fruit tart was as delicious as it was beautiful; I'm pretty; sure our relative brought one of these for Christmas before. We ordered a full sheet marble cake with chocolate mousse filling, but what we received was completely different. The cake itself was plain white, and the filling was hard and dense--nothing close to the light, airy texture you would expect from a mousse. To make matters worse, we were charged extra for this "mousse" filling, which ended up being nothing like what we have experienced before from this bakery. What an amazing experience from Angel Maid Bakery. I wanted a beautiful cake for my mom's 52nd birthday. She loves pink and flowers and butterflies and wanted a cake that was special. I found Angel Maid on Yelp, and the cakes online looked so beautiful. I called and told the woman I spoke to that I just wanted an 8" inch marble cake that looks beautiful and feminine. I told them she likes flowers, butterflies, pink, and edible gold, and told the person that they can just run with the decorations. I basically gave them free reign to decorate it as they saw fit after telling them what kind of aesthetic I wanted. I was a bit nervous about the design since I didn't share any reference pictures, but the cake came out so magical and better than I could have ever expected. My mom was so surprised and loved it so much. It really made her birthday even more special. The 8" marble cake was $45 and to custom decorate it, it was $15. So total was $60 for a beautiful and delicious cake. The crumb in the cake was so soft and the flavor was absolutely divine. I would definitely order from this bakery again. There is truly no other cake out there like this one. The taste is incredible and fresh. They have the best most fluffy and airy bread that you don't feel sluggish after eating a slice of their cake.
