Having grown up near, and making regular trips to, Mexico (as well as having had lots of good authentic home-cooked Mexican food), I am very picky about Mexican food and its authenticity. NOT Tex-Mex. NOT Americanized Mexico City-style with every burrito smothered. No queso, no ground beef, no crunchy tacos, etc. I had almost given up on finding good authentic Mexican food in my area on the Oregon coast. Then I tried Angelina's (at the time, under a different name but the quality has stayed the same), and I have never looked back. Every time I have to go to Coos Bay/North Bend, this is where I stop. Their carnitas is hands down the best I've had in years. Service is fast, the person at the counter always friendly and quick, and despite my Celiac disease I have never gotten sick after having eaten there. Prices are good also. Due to my Celiac disease, I can't have the burritos anymore, but I used to get them regularly and they do them right. Not filled with rice, beans, lettuce (although they will make it that way if you want it)- just meat, pico de gallo, guacamole, and deftly wrapped for portability. read more

Again this is a five star hole in the wall gem! I was referred by another yelper who knows the meaning of real Mexican food. This is just like you get in LA or below. My wife and I both had the carnitas tacos, the smells the taste brought me back to LA and what you get there. They have all the good stuff including lengua, tripe and menudo on Saturdays. I want to try the fish tacos next. I was amazed at the size of the regular taco, you can barely pick it up and stuffed with meat. As many others have indicated don't forget the red sauce as this compliments the dish. I Will highly recommend this place ( a former gas station) but this is where you find the good stuff! So maybe it's my fault, I take full responsibility. It's Taco Tuesday and i order a carnitas burrito...what was I thinking?! (Well, I was thinking, omg, I'm so in the mood for a carnitas burrito, but I guess this is where I should add sometimes I need adult supervision). I was kinda floored that people were ordering ground beef tacos, but hey, whatever floats your boat right? Anyway, I grab my burrito and a grapefruit soda, the friendly cashier gives me some green sauce, and I'm out. I get home and whoa, this thing is HUGE! Now, I'm from a family and state where great Mexican food is prevalent. I'm spoiled, I get it...but I was pretty disappointed. The meat was super tough, flavors were bland. It wasnt bad, per se, just...meh. Now, I paid $10 for this monster burrito and soda which isnt bad. I will be back to try their tacos...not the ground beef tho, lol read more

Stopped by 5/21 & first the order took almost 20 min. I ordered 5 of the breakfast veggie burritos for my kids & self. Once down the road we began to eat them & noticed they were full of hash browns with very little egg in them. What made it even worse was that the hash browns were burnt & very greasy. For $40 w tip I feel it should of been a much better meal. I nor my children attempted more than 2 bites. read more

Fast and friendly service. I got the veggie burrito and was so pleasantly surprised at how huge the thing was! I feel like I really got my money's worth and a really tasty lunch. The guacamole in the burrito was sooooo fresh and delicious. Overall, I'm just really happy to find a really great burrito around here. This has been the best place I've tried for one. I used to love going here, but that has changed. Food used to good and fresh, but things have changed big time! First, all the prices on the menu have been covered, as I was informed the price went up, so you have to ask about each item price, one by one. This is the second price increase in under a year. Quality of food has gone down hill, and filler is used in place of more expensive ingredients. I thought it was isolated to one item, but after ordering for the third time inbthe last four months, it seems to be the normal practice now. I ordered two "big steak" burritos at $10 a piece. These burritos should be renamed "big mistake"! These were described as the closest thing they had to a true carna asada, and described as having only steak and pico de gallo. They turned out to be 10% meat, 90% cabbage! I am officially done with this place. I am thinking there may have been an owner change? As the quality is now unacceptable. It's official. Not one Mexican restaurant uses Enchilada sauce on their Enchilada's, in the area! I got 3 small ones W/ beans & rice and chips and super chunky Salsa(?) for $16. They were covered in GREEN SAUSE. I hated them. read more

I love Angelina's! For me, it's the closest thing to California taco truck from back home (granted, I'm from central California). They have great specials and delicious burritos. Angelina's is my go-to for Mexican food in Coos Bay, although I usually only get burritos and tacos. I would recommend Angelina's to anyone! Honestly I can't get over how perfect their burritos are! I think about them literally once a day, without a doubt.

Although I've lived here for more than 4 years, this was my first time to Angelina's. This is my favorite kind of place to get Mexican food: small, unpretentious, and a bit low-rent. But my significant other had some sort of unfounded prejudice against the joint - maybe due to its location across from the tire shop and up the road from the strip club. At any rate, I finally persuaded her to try something from there, it being Cinco de Mayo. But since you can only get takeout due to the Kung Flu, we opted to just get a couple of burritos. She got a bean w/ cheese, (not too exciting, but she liked it,) and I ordered one with al pastor and the works. It was delicious, and almost more than I could eat! The pastor was very tasty - the marinade is a little different than what I'm used to, but still excellent. The meat is lean, without gristle and not fatty, and there's plenty of it. (I even shared some with the dog!) I will definitely be returning to try some of the other menu choices. (Edit, 05/29/2020: I have since returned to try a carne asada and a chili Verde burrito. Both were delicious, although the carne asada lacked the grilled flavor that I crave. The chili verde, however, was incredibly good! Big chunks of meat, tomatillo tanginess, and just the right amount of spice made this a perfect burrito. And anyone who isn't a complete glutton can easily get two meals out of one of these, which are slightly larger than a standard building brick. read more

Angelina's USED to be the best place in Coos Bay to get a authentic burrito truck burrito. But the past few times I've gotten one they have gotten worse and worse. I loved the Oregon burrito. Sometimes the ingredients differ (sour cream no sour cream, guacamole non guacamole etc.) not a big deal, this time it was barely eatable. There was very little carne asada, no rice and a overwhelming amount of beans. Not grilled and just falling apart. I don't know if they have new cooks (and haven't trained them well) if they just don't care anymore. Sad. Even the Pico was off, I get a large extra side because it's my favorite. This time it was bland with no kick. Truly sad. I really hope they figure it out. I gave them two stars because the service was good. read more

This place has a ton of potential as it is the only taco stand style restaurant in town. ...however it needs improvement. We ordered the sausage breakfast burrito with an horchata. 1. 90% of it was ITALIAN sausage. First off this is the wrong sausage to use. We aren't eating a pizza. Second, not enough other ingredients. It was a Italian sausage burrito. Maybe half an egg in this. 2. The cheese was not melted at all. This is a red flag as the food needs to be cooked to 140 degrees or higher to kill bacteria and to prevent illness per food handlers requirements. 3. There was a tablespoon of old hash browns in this burrito. Cut potato would have worked a lot better as it would be quicker to heat and would be better quality. 4. There was something wrong with the horchata. It tasted like the horchata dispenser may be dirty. It didn't have ice in the drink. I had to order something else it was so bad. 5. The place was ice cold. They weren't using the main heating unit. 6. There were no sauces left out for customers. read more

My absolute favorite restaurant in town! Authentic, street style food. I'm a regular here. Great prices for a good amount of food. They have giant burritos and dollar mini tacos (not sure if that's every day of the week though!). My favorite things to order are the lengua burrito/taco, or the carnitas! The horchata is great to wash down your food with. The only things I would change is that they'd stay open later, and still have the pepper/carrot/lime bar! read more

This place has gone through many owners, but the food has always been pretty good. I ate her tonight with again, new owners. However they were a step above all the previous owners. First let me say this is not meant for say, bday parties, or company meetings. It's not set up like that. It's just great food at a fair price. It's more like a Ca burrito place but has seats, and a very friendly staff. Speaking of. Tip the waitresses, even though you order at the counter, they end up doing alot of running. I had to list this place, it wasnt even on yelp. Best value, large menu of your favorites. Not just burritos, but a bit of everything. I lived in Ca half my life, and the one thing I missed up North was good Mexican food. Not anymore. I wish great success to the new owners. Stopped in for breakfast burritos for myself and my husband and two teen sons. Best veggie burrito I've ever eaten. We all basically polished off my burrito. It's called a Mexically or Mexicano burrito and had yummy crunchy potatoes, eggs, cheese, and I think picked veggies of some kind. The rest of my family also loved their be we breakfast burritos.
