No complaints! We arrived mid-afternoon and we were the only people, but only for a few minutes as a couple more tables filled up shortly after we sat down. Music is loud enough to hear, not intrusive. Service is great, very pleasant staff that were attentive. Chili Verde Burrito w/ rice and beans. Pork is tender and moist with wonderful complex sauce, not spicy. Beans are creamy and the rice is fluffy, both very good. Nothing is more perplexing than the ratings white Americans give their local Mexican restaurants, no matter how poor they are. We were in the area and starving, and stopped in after seeing reviews north of 4 stars. It was only 4pm so we expected it to be empty, and it was, only one other table was occupied. Big red flag, there was zero ambiance. Our waitress was sweet, and on her game, but unfortunately no tap beers were available, although there were bottled beers, mixed drinks, wines, and tequila shots to be had. So I ordered a Mexican beer, and our waitress brought it, and a cold glass, and took our order. We both fancied the enchiladas with shredded beef, so that's what we ordered. Here's where it gets awkward, The greasy chips and watery, flavorless salsa garnered no stars, although it did have a few onions etc, floating in the brine. The enchiladas were awful, not in a haphazard way, but in a "no flavor" way. The shredded beef, though plentiful, was not too far off of boiled round steak shredded, I have never met meat with less flavor. The beef was wrapped in a couple of plain corn tortillas, and served with a flavorless rice, and soupy refried bean mixture. There was a scant amount of cheese scattered over the whole mess, but not even pouring the extra bowl of salsa, our wonderful waitress brought us, on our food could save it. Maybe I'm being harsh, and if I am, it's not the restaurant's fault. It's yours, because if you'd have given this place the 2.5-3 stars it deserves, I wouldn't have been so disappointed. It kind of reminds me of some nameless Mexican chain restaurants from the 1980's (let's give it a name, maybe Don Jose's) where the main goal is not to offend the nice white fellow who got off of his middle management job, swung by the house in his AMC Pacer, to pick up the old lady for a nice dinner out (a pleasant distraction from the boiled hot dogs, and hamburger helper meals she prepares between the Swanson Hungry man frozen dinners), before settling down for a night of Jeopardy and $10,000 pyramid reruns. I swear, if some Señora served this to her hard working caballero down in Chiapas, it would be flung against the back wall, and lapped up off the floor by the local Chihuahuas. I shan't be back. It's in a corner spot next to other food services that it looks deceiving from the outside, but once you step in, it's super cozy and welcoming. Definitely a hidden gem The food is delicious, the staff is friendly, and service is quick. They offer all sort of tasty options, which we loved as we travel with elders and kids. Very quick service and the food was good. It is very hard to find good Mexican food in Oregon when we had lived in Southern California for most of our lives! Many places we have found here are very bland. I had the 3 meat fajitas and my husband had the seafood burrito and a chili relleno along with a shrimp ceviche for an appetizer. Would give 4 and a half if could. Our first night on vacation we actually were gonna eat across the street and saw this place and 4 stars on Yelp so we stopped in. Small place but was busy. Only one server who was very friendly. We order the cheese dip and guacamole which were both very good. The guacamole was definitely fresh and homemade. My enchiladas were amazing I loved the verde. So the missing star would be because my husband said his burrito had wayyy too much rice and not enough carne asada. But we are very satisfied and it was very flavorful and delicious. read more

What a gem! Okay, not the fanciest of restaurants but it was really an enjoyable visit. Our car broke down on the way to the dunes (well, started making funny noise) so we dropped it off at Les Schwab and had to find a way to spend about 3 hours (we are not locals). We walked around the town and then saw this place. We weren't sure about it because of how it looked outside. It wasn't bad, but you couldn't tell what the inside would look like by the outside (does that make sense?). Once we walked in, we could see that it was a cute place. We were seated right away and the servers were just amazing from that point forward. I tried the ceviche and it was AMAZING. I did not expect that. That and margaritas was all I needed and I was a happy camper. If you are passing through or live nearby, be sure to stop here. Wow!!!! Never did we expect to have great traditional Mexican food in Coos bay after previous experiences at other so called Mexican Restuarants. I called to place an order to go and the lady was very accommodating and polite. Once there I was shocked to see the food and its presentation as it was a to go order. Delicious food, fair prices and the friendliest service that I've had in some time, but I live in PDX where a grunt from a hipster in a trucker hat is considered above average. Passing through North Bend, we decided on Mexican. Opened Yelp for guidance and were heading somewhere else, but when we got there about noon their sign said that they were open "Sunday 11 pm to 5 pm" which makes no sense, and they were closed. Back to Yelp, the Coyote was close. Serendipitous! We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and the pleasant staff. Would have been a slam-dunk ***** except the bathroom could have been cleaner and had no hand soap, and I'm a bit picky about cleanliness. The BEST authentic Mexican food in my opinion! I've eaten here many times and everything has been delicious. I love that they will accommodate u on substituting. Very friendly so if there isn't somethin on the menu just ask them and they MIGHT be able to fix it up for u. All around enjoyable place to eat. Side Note: I brought a friend here from Utah and he absolutely loved his Chile Relleno burrito and said best place to eat Mexican in this area. His 88 year old dad was wit him and doesn't care for Mexican food and had the Colorado Burrito and ate all of it, lol. Said it was very tasty and meat tender. Best Mexican food I've had since colorado. It is kinda plain looking inside and out, but the presentation of food is perfect. Our server Laura was very welcoming and attentive. Margaritas were delicious. The ONLY con was the ranch dressing needs work and the community seems a little uhm down. I would still overlook those cons every time to eat the amazing food here.
