The ambiance says authentic: decor, Ranchera-type music, some Latin clientele, Mexican staff. Chips were okay, but the salsa was watery. Beans were dried around the edges (common as a result of microwaving.) Shrimp fajitas were full of flavor, but overpowered by too much salt. Monique, the sole server, was very friendly and kept her cool even while a bit overwhelmed. Parking lot is tiny and difficult to exit. Slow dine in service, told us they weren't serving margaritas, brought us the wrong order ( pretty sure our order left with the door dash driver), and some sort of chaos running around above us. And to top it off, when we brought the error of our order (there were three meals), the wait person said "I'm sorry, I didn't take your order", but the irony, this person was the only one waiting the only two tables with customers. Oh, and when we asked for water refills, only filled 2 of the 3 glasses and left. We waited 45 minutes and ended up leaving when the table that came in 20 min after us was served and we never did get our food. Very disappointing!!! We only went because of the reviews, and usually don't post reviews, but wouldn't recommend it. We have gone to this restaurant several times in the past few months and the food was good, flavorful and delicious. Today it was not... It started off with very watery salsa that was not as good as it was on previous visits and chips that tasted like they had been fried in oil that was old. Hubby ordered the combo plate with a chili relleno and a ground beef taco. I ordered combo plate with enchiladas and a ground beef taco. Hubby said his taco tasted like it was fried in the same oil that the chips had been fried in. I didn't think that about my taco but the ground beef filling inside the enchiladas did not taste good so I didn't finish them. My stomach after this meal feels very loose and questionable. We walked in the door and felt like family. The restaurant is warm and welcoming like you are stepping into someone's home! The Chile Relleno was excellent, made with Anaheim peppers and a sauce full of flavor and spice. The enchilada verde was delicious with tender chicken. My family and I went out for dinner looking for a Mexican place. We have been on vacation this week and have visited over 10 places. The restaurant is very unassuming from the outside, in fact we almost left before coming in to eat. Man am I glad we decided to stay and eat. This was one of the most fresh and best Mexican restaurants that we've had in years. The salsa was perfect. We had fajitas, a chimichanga, and a chalupa. It was seasoned perfectly and tasted WONDERFUL. We followed up with some fried ice cream. All of the food was some of the best Mexican food I've had in years. On top of that, the staff was very friendly. It was evident that it was owned and ran by a family. They were personable and went above and beyond to ensure we had a good experience. I will start by saying our food was delicious. I found this place here on Yelp and saw they had Chili Rellenos. Once we got there we were told that was the only thing they were out of. That sucked, but I understand that there are supply problems everywhere due to the Rona. We were never offered anything to drink other than water. We could have asked but we didn't. I've been a *huge* fan of this place for years. Thought so very much of both sets of previous owners, and 'gushingly' recommended this restaurant every chance I had. For years this restaurant has been a fairly undiscovered 'diamond' among the local eatery options. 'Everything' I ordered was outstanding. I haven't been in much for awhile due to time constraints. However, recently I visited and was disappointed. My previous reviews have raved about the chips and salsa - both so very good the meal was like an added bonus. Unfortunately, the chips I had on my recent visit were stale and the salsa was served sparingly. The food I ordered was good, yet also didn't seem to have quite the same quality as before.
