I was here for my sister's birthday yesterday and I was actually expecting it to be bad. I was happily disappointed in my expectations this turned out to be a pretty good place. I was actually here for two previous occasions but I didn't want to judge from those prior experiences since I wasn't reviewing back then. My family is huge so we ended up taking up a few tables and some space in here, our waitress was pretty accommodating to all of our needs. I indulged in the garlic bread from the bread basket and it was well worth it. I ordered an appetizer of tomato, mozzarella cheese and roasted red pepper (at this time I can't recall the correct name for it). I split it with my brother and his friend who was with us for the afternoon birthday party. For a meal I got a salad with mesculins, goat cheese, dried cranberries and walnuts. The salad was also very good all the veggies served to us in our salads (my main meal and my family's pre-meal included salads) were very fresh. My family also seemed to enjoy their meals too. As far as I know no one had anything bad to say after we left here. Another great Italian spot in Lynbrook (this town seems to know how to do Italian well) I'd come back again! read more

It's a shame, we have been coming to Angelina's for as long as I could remember and after the restaurant sold, it's not the same. We use to come multiples times a month and eventually started to come less once we saw the quality change. *Pizza Review* This place has been around for awhile. Personally, I come here when I want a good Sicilian Pie or just plain regular pie in the area! You can't go wrong with the classic's at Angelina's. My taste buds are always satisfied when my family orders take out from here. The Sicilian is just the right amount of thickness, not too doughy or overwhelming, and not too thin to be considered a Sicilian pie. I ordered a couple of regular pies when I had friends coming in from out of town once. Ever since then whenever they come to visit they suggest we order from "the place we got the really amazing pizza from that time." That has to mean something!! Puttanesca is my all time favorite pasta dishes and I've had a hard time finding any Italian restaurants who make it. This review is solely based on a takeout lunch order of a couple of plain slices and 2 rolls (a chicken parm & a sausage roll). What happened to this place? A usually solid house pie slice was so bland & tasteless it might have been a frozen pizza. The dough on the rolls was so tough, I thought I'd chipped a tooth upon biting into it. The chicken parm filling was edible but also tasteless, but using pre-cut frozen sausage pieces instead of actual link sausage is a cheap way out. While we used them previously to cater numerous events, I can no longer justify spending good money for sub par food if this is what they are turning out. read more

Throwback Review Reason For The Two Stars: 1. Food I was not keen on giving Valcenia a review because the other yelpers basically said what I experienced. The food was okay. Okay, like I'm eating it because I'm paying for it okay. The quality of the food I tasted made me think that they probably have the sauce, and pasta in one freezer and mix together when a customer orders. 2. Service Honestly, my step-father and I didn't feel "welcomed" there. Empty restaurant and the waitress decides the best seat to give to us was near the kitchen, all the way in the back. I guess it was convenient for her, but it was an uncomfortable experience for me. 3. Quality Price $20.00-$30.00 for food that seemed as if someone just poured sauce and added meat on top, I could have just went to Keyfood and made my own. Would I Come Again?: No. To spend almost $70 for food and regretting it is something that scars my food digger mind. Hmmm... I'm on the fence with this place. I often come here with my boyfriend and his family. They've been coming here for a good 15+ years and they love it. I personally think it's just OK. With these family owned Italian restaurants, I feel like any non-Italian that comes here gets major side eye... until of course, you show them you're a decent human being, then they soften up. The overall vibe of the place is nice. Family oriented restaurant, with a bar up front and tables & booths towards the back. Gingham patterned cloths on the tables, so don't expect upscale Italian decor. However, the food is up to par. The portions are generous and the bread is really good. I didn't like their shrimp fra diablo too much, it lacked flavor. The shrimp with penne and pesto sauce was good though. The Shrimp Angelina was good and light, nicely flavored. I've also tried their Angelina salad (greens, walnuts, cheese) which I loved. Their house salads are OK, nothing to write home about. Their balsamic dressing is VERY good. When I'm looking for a hearty Italian meal for the right place, I think of Angelina's. What I like is that they include a house or Caesar salad with your entree; this is a nice touch, since many places will go a la carte and only provide the main course. It's a nice size salad, too, and I always look forward to it when starting my meal. My usual favorite is the Calamari Fra Diavolo, with its generous, large rings and huge amount of linguini. Lately, they've had a wonderful appetizer special that you can also get as an entree: Calamari a la Vodka -- with calamari rings soaked in vodka sauce. An absolute dream! It's usually best to get there on the earlier side, as this place fills up fast and they have a limited number of tables. They both serve good pizzas and have a great selection of Italian classics. Decor seems to be designed to give a more family oriented feel- red and white checkered table cloths, booths, casual music. With one bite it was obvious that they were made from frozen crusts. In a pizzeria! All of the food had been defrosted or pre-made without a single fresh ingredient in sight. We love to stop at the end of long day of golf and Beach. The food is always prepared to perfection and the portions are large. This was my first time going to Angelinas. I took my grandma out for lunch because she said this place just gotten re done and she wanted to try the new place ! It took us about 5 minutes to be seated which isn't bad at all especially because the place was packed ! The floors were clean, tables were clean, and most importantly the silverware was clean. I ordered a wrap and my grandma had pasta and clam sauce. We both loved our food, it was made extremely well and we really enjoyed our time there. Our server was super nice and helpful BUT she disappeared so often and we were trying to get her attention and pay for over 10 min. This restaurant uses a particularly pungent type of Parmesan cheese that is inedible unless you like your food to taste like vomit. And they put in almost everything! The food would be decent if not for the Parmesan, but it literally ruins almost every dish. I eat Italian food all the time, and I like mild Parmesan, so I am not afraid of this cheese. But a restaurant should be wise enough to use mild versions of cheeses if it is going to throw it into anything and everything that it serves. If Angelina's modifies its Parmesan cheese, then it would be a 3.5 star restaurant rather than a 2 star restaurant. They sprinkle it on the complimentary bread they serve. They add it to the standard side of pasta with pomedoro sauce (i.e simple tomato sauce) they serve as an accompaniment to every main dish. They add it to regular pizza.
