Great neighborhood spot for a quick slice or a full pie. Staff is helpful and friendly. Pizza is pretty good and you can't beat the prices.

The best thing they've got going for them is proximity. It's quick and easy, but not mindblowing. The worst is the service. They are too comfortable and casual. Hooray! I have finally managed to find a kickin eggplant parm sub. This sub was damn near perfect! Not many seeds (thats the worst!) - just the right amount of sauce and cheese. The sub was brought to me be a very friendly gentleman who asked me how my night was going and was just all around pleasant. He was the kind of guy I wanted bringing me my food. As if he was saying "Here you are. I made this to perfection just for you, because I care about you and what you eat." We had ordered two "half" subs and discovered four halfs when we opened the bag up. Apparently, there is a half to a half. At first this was overwhelming, but after taking the first bite, I immediately knew I would be consuming about 4lbs of eggplant. And I was totally ok with it. I put away that beast. I've only had delivery so far, so I can't comment on the actually storefront, dine in experience, but here's what I do know: The calzones are quite good. The sauce is yummy. A small is very large. The idea of a large is frightening to me. I don't think they will make good left-overs tho. They seem to harden/dry out. The pizza was pretty good. Not "quite" good only because I think the crust could have been improved upon. Anyway, definitely pleasant pizza experiences to be had from Angelina's. I feel like it ends up costing a little more than it should, but maybe that's because of the $1 delivery fee plus tip for the driver. Actually I think it's because they charge $1.75 per extra calzone filling. Who gets a calzone with ONE topping/filling? You need at least two. That automatically makes your $9 calzone a $10.75 calzone, at the least. Anyway, definitely worth a shot for some yummy pizza treats in Davis. read more

You guys, I have a confession: I've been somewhat lazy in the kitchen lately, and I've been racking up Foodler points faster than you can say "Pickup or delivery?" Now, Angelina's isn't actually on Foodler, but that hasn't stopped me from ordering. There's nothing super "special" about Angelina's. It's your basic pizza/sub shop, but it's consistently good, and that's why it merits 4 stars. They're local, so delivery time is average for a pizza place (the old "30-45 minutes" estimate). I've never had anything bad here. From ordering pizzas to bring home, to getting a sub and sitting down, everything is amazing. Steak and cheese, pizzas, chicken cutlets...mmmm. If I had one last thing to eat before I died, it would a chicken parm sub from Angelinas, no lie. If you like chicken parm, you may go a month with out eating anything but chicken parm subs from Angelina's. I needed to make a New Years resolution to promise not to eat so many. That much chicken parm just can't be good for you. The people behind the counter are great and seem like they have fun while they work, it is nice to see when you are picking your food up. I have also enjoyed the pizza and other subs that I have got here as well. The only reason that I didn't give this place 5 stars is that it does not have the best steak n' cheese sub in the world. Had the calzone there on a Sunday evening fairly late (I believe it was past 9pm) and the service was friendly and churned the food out quickly. The calzone I ordered was the Italian one and it was both huge and tasty. Unlike other reviewers before me, mine had a LOT of toppings inside and after a few bites I had a meat-induced food coma which was made even worse by the cheese. It was good but just too much. Nothing great. I've had pizza by the slice, subs, specialty pizzas, and appetizers here. I live essentially across the street, so mainly out of convenience. The pizza is fairly bland and I felt the same about the subs. The appetizer I had reminded me of a frozen TGI Fridays type of thing. There is seating inside, but it's not very inviting - I wouldn't choose to stay and eat in house. Pricing is alright. Fair, but I think it should be lower based on the taste. If you're looking for a good sandwich, head to Dave's right down the street. Looking for good pizza, try flatbreads instead - or even dominos... I've only ever had subs here. The Half means they need to cut it in half because it's so big. You basically get two medium sized subs for 8-9 bucks. Awesome. They make a great steak and cheese, and I am really, really picky about my steak and cheese (i usually make my own....the secret is good steak and way more cheese than you think is necessary...they have the same philosophy). I had an Italian there today. I was happy, but not blown away. No capricola so he gave me extra salami (plenty of meat and provolone on that sandwich). 'Everything' does not constitute hots. That pissed me off, but I do understand many folks don't like hots. Just make sure you ask for them explicitly. Shredded lettuce is fine but I know some folks hate it. Their marinara sauce is really good. I like to get some on my steak and cheese. Mozz sticks are not great, but they aren't disappointing and I would def get them again. read more

If I was just reviewing the pizza here they would get another star or so. Until twenty minutes ago I was a loyal Angelina's customer. I won't be back again. It was a nice go-to local spot for pizza. I have had better in the area, but I've also had much worse. They are very close to where I live and they are always pleasant when I pop in to pick up a pizza. More often than not I would drive to them to pick up. I haven't had any of their other offerings. The problem I have with Angelina's is their horrible customer service when trying to get a pizza delivered to my place. It isn't that complicated of an undertaking. I live all of 3 minutes away by car. The first time I called for delivery it took quite a bit of persuasion to get them to come out. I think it was as simple as mistaking our address with another that was much further away. Even though it was difficult, on a rare occasion my wife and I would get delivery from Angelina's. Each time it would take some convincing, but once we explained exactly where we were and the fact that they had delivered to us before, they would bring us a pizza. Tonight, they refused. They turned down a sale out of stubbornness, ignorance, or maybe both. But they lost a good customer, and a competitor, who happens to be further away than they are, is bringing out a pizza. read more

I am giving this place 5 stars because it really is my favorite pizza in within the Somerville and Medford area (yes, even better than The Paddock). The veggie calzone I had was HUGE. I ordered the small and it was still enough for multiple meals. Now, this calzone wasn't the best I've ever had, but it wasn't the worst either. As Erin M points out, there is a LOT of mozzarella in the calzones. Mine did have ricotta in it as well, but above and beyond it had mostly cheese. Good, cheap, convinient! I got two slices of cheese from Angelinas (which they heated up for me in under 2 mintues), walked to my office (5 minute walk), opened it up, and it was delicious, warm, and not too greasy. The crust (though packaged and probably steamed to death in the bag) was still crispy. Hooray! What more could you ask for? I'm reading a lot of "bad customer service" opinions here. Living in Somerville all of my life. Been coming here all of my life. Pizza is pretty good - cheap - pretty much whatever toppings you want. The staff is always funny and friendly. Best chicken parm/chicken cutlet subs and they make a damn good italian sub too. It's a great place to come on weekends or nights I don't wanna cook. Love it here... I mean, it's not 5 stars, but... Home of the Jumbo! These guys are not afraid to fill your gullet with ENORMOUS subs. They come in four sizes; small, large, half and jumbo. I have only ordered a small, and that is probably considered a medium at most places, so I can't fathom how huge a jumbo must be! It has to feed a family of seven, I would guess. I love their subs, and they're very efficient. This is a no-frills sub place, with a counter and a smattering of tables, I'd recommend takeout, rather than eating in. Most of my experience has been with their subs, although they also have pizza, calzones and dinner plates with pasta, chicken and fish. I personally think they make one of the best chicken parms and I love their tuna subs too. read more

Fine. Not good, not terrible, def not NYC/Jersey level (seriously other reviewer?) but as good as I could expect for in the MA area. Agree that it's a lotta cheese and not enough sauce. Got a Greek salad too, which is more or less all iceberg lettuce with 1 tomato, lots of feta, couple cucumbers and onions, few olives and creamy dressing. Mozzarella sticks were standard and good. If this wasn't MA, I'd give it 2 stars. We did pick up and had no hiccups, so can't comment on delivery or service beyond we got what we paid for in 20 min on a Tuesday. read more

Um. I know it's called a pizzeria, but that's really just a misdirect. Their pizza is 'meh.' This place is an urban traditional Italian (family, I assume) sub shop with fresh bread and freshly (and perfectly) sliced deli. It's a place where a half order of a sub can feed you for two days. The options on the sammie are mustard / mayo, salt / pepper, onion, pickles, tomato, lettuce. None of this "artichoke spread" or "bacon relish" m-na mnah mnah. Like it or leave it. You want cooked food? Their manicotti is ok (the ricotta filling was really delicate and lovely); but that's not what this place is about. TO REPEAT: fresh bread. Fresh and perfectly sliced deli meats. Pull your heads out of your hindquarters and order appropriately. read more

The place in itself isn't supernice-looking: definitely more of a take-out than an eat-in. Now for the review per se: It is AWESOME! The calzones are divine. Both are equally good. Subs are ish IMO but then again I have only tried one (I don't really like the bread). I followed other Yelpers' advice and had the chicken parmigiana calzone, then tried the chicken/feta/peppers, both are equally amazing in their own special way. The pizza is so good that I have saved their number in my cell phone so I don't have to look for the flier each time I order. Call them now and order -- you won't regret it. You know what you can do with a Jumbo sub from Angelina's? Feed three people. Seriously, the subs are huge. My husband and I have split the half and both been satisfied. When I go by myself, I typically order a regular and don't finish it. I like that the guys at Angelina's will make your sub exactly as you want it. Personally, I go for the hot peppers on my turkey. I've also had them bake my sub for a few minutes for me to get the bread crispy and warm. Besides my favorite turkey, I can recommend the chicken parm from personal, repeated experience. Angie's isn't quite a five star for me to due to the occasional quality variation in the bread-to-meat-to-topping ratios of the sandwiches, but it's pretty close. If they delivered to Boston I'd probably order them way too often. read more

The food is just ok. The staff however are not. They are seemingly incapable of customizing anything. When I politely pointed out that what I paid for was not being prepared the staff got belligerent and verbally abusive. Your basic neighborhood pizza place. Thin but chewy crust, unremarkable sauce, and pretty generous cheese. Angelina's is cheap though. Like way cheap -- $1.50 for a good-sized cheese slice or $2 for a 'roni slice makes it a pretty tasty utilitarian lunch for well under $5, which is just about perfect if that's what you're looking for. Make sure to use the coupon (in the images on the Yelp page) for 2 large cheeses for $14.99 and feed yourself and a few of your friends with decent pizza for short money. To me, good pizza is like good cheesecake -- toppings just take away from it. Angelina's doesn't quite hit that mark, but it'll satisfy my pizza cravings in a way that other area places don't do. I habitually order Chicken Cutlet subs from this place. They bread and fry real pieces of chicken breast and it is so good. Reminds me of a little italian place in my hometown where everything is cooked by a 70 year old italian lady who only knows english swears (not sure if thats the actual situation, but it tastes that way). Anyways we always go for the HJs (half-jumbo) and usually split a straight J (or jumbo) if my roomate is in on it as its cheaper than getting them seperate. Well, I've only dealt with Angelina's twice, but both experiences have been good. I went once in person for a calzone and ordered a pizza for delivery tonight. Well the first thing I need to point out is the calzones are absolutely enourmous-even the small sizes. The subs can also be ordered up to ridiculously long lengths-think 3 foot subs. You won't go hungry eating here and the prices are low. As for my food, the dough they use is pretty good and the calzone was great with good cheese (chicken parm). The pizza we had tonight was good for what we paid though please understand it's not in the category of a Pinnochio's or Pizzeria Regina-not even close. I call it middle-ground pizza and it was good and better than some of the local other places I've had that compete with them. I give it four stars because of the large amounts of decent food they give, and the fact they had a piping hot pizza in my hands 30 minutes after I ordered for delivery (during a Pats game too!). I'd say folks in the area who need reliable affordable food should give it a try. read more

Angelina's is ok. They have a good selection of subs and most everything I've gotten has tasted pretty good. I'm not blown away. I don't crave their food, but if I'm walking by and I don't feel like cooking, I'll stop in. I'm a huge customer service person, and Angelina's doesn't have any. The guys who work there use as few words as possible and act like they can't wait to stop serving me. The other thing that weirds me out here is that they move from cash-collecting to food prep and back and forth without changing their rubber gloves. I was spoiled in East Arlington (not too far from Teele if you want to take a walk!) because there are a bunch of great pizza/sub shops up there and they are happy to have your business! read more

I'm giving Angelina's five stars with the following caveat: Always order the subs, never the pizza. This place makes the best toasted works Italian I've ever had, hands down. Their meatball provolone is also up in my top five. High quality bread and care taken in assembly is what makes a sub shop amazing. I've never liked their pizza very much, but I haven't had it since grade school based on the fact that once I started eating their subs I never wanted anything else. So maybe the pizza has improved since then, who knows; it was just never my cup of tea. Once you get a sub here, you'll never be able to choke down the drek they serve at Quizno's and Subway again. I usually get a Half and have leftovers. Delivery has never been a problem either for me. On busy nights, it takes longer, but they've always been true to their estimates over the phone, and sometimes I've gotten my order in 15 minutes flat - although admittedly I was living on just the other side of Davis. read more

Nothing really remarkable about this place. I came here with a friend for a pizza/boardgame night. The pizza was fine, the restaurant itself...well, it had chairs and tables. Admittedly, it is pretty inexpensive, which I can't hate on. Also, the staff was really friendly, engaging us and generally making us feel welcome, which was nice, considering we had been sitting for a while just playing our games. I can't speak to a lot about this place, but I can speak to the steak & cheese, as well as the french fries. I'm a creature of habit, and when I go to Angelina's, that's what I order. I've ordered from a long of places all over Somerville, and never have I had fries as good as the ones I get from Angelina's. At most places, they deliver soggy fries or cold fries and think nothing of it. Whether I've had the fries for pickup or delivery, they've always been incredible. A large fry for $4 is a meal in and of itself. I'm a big guy, but after downing one of these large fries, I'm rarely still hungry enough to polish off their entire sub. And the subs are big. A regular steak and cheese is a great size, they'll give you free peppers and onions (not a given at all places) and make it the way you like it. After ordering three or four times from there, they know to put salt and pepper on without even asking me if I want it. And if you order the half, you better bring your appetite. It's incredibly big, essentially two of the smaller subs, and it's a lot to handle. It's about 6.50 for the regular and 8.50 for the half -- very reasonable prices, and the half is a complete steal at only $2 more. Realistically, a great dinner for two would be a large fry and a half steak and cheese -- but good luck getting any of those fries away from me. read more

Pretty OK food, I go there because I live a few blocks away. I'm a fan of the chicken fingers and onion rings. The chicken parm is mediocre at best. If you're going there at night you should call first. Once they turned the fryolator off 2 hours before closing because they weren't busy, another night they closed early because the next day was Easter Sunday (it was 8:45 on a Saturday. Random). If you want a pizza/sub shop and going to Davis isn't an option (Mike's or Christos are way better if you ask me), this is the next place in the area I'd recommend **UPDATE*** I made the mistake of getting the Fish and Chips. Best subs in the Boston area, hands down. I used to live in Teele Sq, Somerville, and come here all the time. Now I make a special trip if I'm in the mood for a sub. Not only do they have the quality ingredients, but they have a wide variety of sizes (jumbo is like 2 feet long). I would say they have the best steak and cheese I've ever had.
