    Fantastic arancini!!
    Leanne M.

Excellent addition to Somerville's local food game! I have been here a few times and enjoyed everything I tried. The arancini were absolutely divine! They were super cheesy and soft on the inside, while maintaining a crispy crunch on the outside. Along with cheese, there was also rice and meat, maybe pancetta? Order these! The boneless chicken tenders were crispy, but not dry and had sweet and sour sauce on the side. Also, a great pick! For pizza we decided on the buffalo chicken pizza. It was outstanding! It had blue cheese, chunks of chicken, and scallions. There was no red sauce which I prefer when having a buffalo chicken pizza. Definitely interested in trying different pizzas here! Give ZAZA a try next time you want take out for a game or night in!

I am obsessed with the place. The food and service are always impeccable. This breakfast calzone was so perfect, I would highly recommend 10/10

    large salami pizza

This review is predominantly for their pizzas, which is $10 for a large on Mondays if you pick it up yourself. Top Picks: - Salami Pizza - ZaZa Pizza (alfredo, prosciutto, arugula, mozzarella, ricotta) ZaZa's is one of my preferred pizza joints in Somerville/Medford. They make a thinner crust style pizza that I've personally come to associate with Italian style pizzas. Even among similar style pizzas, ZaZa's stands out to me because of the flavor of their crust and their individual toppings. ZaZa's pizza crust has a good bread flavor, and I'll often find myself eating their pizzas whole including the crust. I also enjoy some of their individual toppings better than at other pizza joints - their salami and prosciutto taste closer to what you'd find on a charcuterie plate than a grocery store deli. Their staff is also super friendly. I'm regrettably a little too anti-social to truly appreciate it, but I think most real/normal humans would. The reason I'm shaving down to 4 stars is because I found some of their pizzas to be just OK - BBQ Chicken, Chicken Parm and Sausage Vodka. I've also only gotten a non-pizza item once - a chicken parm sandwich - and I found that to be mediocre as well. Overall I'd easily recommend ZaZa's Pizzeria.

    Buffalo cauliflower
    Andrew C.

My girlfriend moved into the neighborhood recently and we've been trying a lot of the restaurants in the area. I'm glad I decided to stop in to ZaZa midday to try their Italian sub. It was perfection...the prosciutto, mortadella and salami were sliced thin and melted in my mouth. The bread was also fresh and soft. I got the Buffalo cauliflower for my girlfriend but I ended up eating half of it...delicious! Look for Nelson and Will in the kitchen. Super friendly guys! Glad to have ZaZa in the neighborhood!

Our waitress was knowledgeable and gave good food and wine recommendations from the menu. Our party really enjoyed the octopus as it was a tender bite with freshness coming from the peas/mint/cilantro. We also enjoyed the juicy meatballs with tomato sauce and again a hint of freshness and nuttiness coming from the pine nut pesto. We were not crazy about the striped bass crudo. It just seemed to fall flat flavor wise for me maybe not enough salt or acid to really counter balance the other fresh clean flavors in the dish. That being said it was not bad just underwhelming. The pizzas were great value price wise and the flavor combinations were unique but also worked well with one another. I liked how they didn't shy away from using spicy peppers on the Nduja pizza. The Fennel Sausage pizza had that fattiness from the sausage mixed with acidity from the cherry peppers and some creaminess/extra layer of flavor with the green garlic cream sauce. I somewhat wish the pizza bottom was baked slightly longer for a less floppy center but that's just personal preference. They clearly put a lot of effort into this pizza recipe. The only critique we would have is the service seemed a bit rushed. We would have enjoyed a bit more time between appetizers and the mains. Even the check came pretty shortly after we finished which would be understandable on a busy weekend night but this was a Tuesday evening and there seemed to be plenty of empty tables around us. Other than that would recommend for an elevated night out!

I got the after school snack cocktail which was very refreshing and paired nicely with the meal. We split the Bucatini Verde and it was so delicious. I couldn't even pinpoint the flavors I was eating but it was amazing. Fresh pasta and just really good flavor. We saw a dish online we wanted, but the server explained they use that pasta for different dishes and change out the sauce, so I'm glad I got to try it. We then split the Pepperoni + Vodka Sauce pizza which was good. I'll be honest I was a tad disappointed in the pizza. It was flavorful but I think I was expecting the same feeling I got when I had the pasta. It was good, but just that, good. Crust was a little burnt. I did love the vibes and pasta and it's definitely known in Cambridge for a good reason. I'd recommend a reservation if you'd like a table as it does fill up fast.

My go-tos are the mushroom pie and clam pie, both of which are super flavorful and made with high-quality ingredients. They pair really well with the shaved brussel sprout salad, which may be the perfect salad in my eyes: thinly shaved brussel sprouts, crunchy roasted hazelnuts, and slices of parmesan cheese. Not too saucy but extremely refreshing!

The service was poor from the start. The waitress told us we would be seated at the bar. She rolled her eyes and appeared visibly annoyed when I asked if it was okay that my sister was under 21. She said it was fine as long as we didn't order drinks, then seated us at the bar. We were only given drink menus. When the bartender came over to take our order, I had to ask for a food menu myself. Our seating was also uncomfortable. We were placed right next to the bar/server station. My sister got splashed when drinks were being opened, and servers repeatedly bumped into her chair while passing. We ordered the Carnivore pizza. The pizza itself was quite salty. The dough was decent, but not impressive. I kept trying to convince myself it was good, but it fell short. Pizza: 3/5 Service: 2/5 Atmosphere: 3/5 Would I return? No. Overall, I was surprised by the 4.4 rating. My expectations were much higher based on the reviews.

As with any good restaurant, its menu is well curated. While there is a nice outdoor dining area, given the heat of the day, we dined inside. Without reservations, we were accommodated at the bar. Reservations are a must. Bar seating is fine, there is ample space, not at all crowded. The bartender doubled as our waiter. He was very knowledge about the menu and personable. As an appetizer, my son and I split the chicken cutlet - which for some could be a meal. Delicious as always. As an entree, I ordered my favorite, the pizza margherita. My son ordered the same topped with sausage and prosciutto. There is no skimping on toppings here! The pizzas at "Si Cara", are a treat, very highly recommended. Made like in Naples, savory-sweet marinara, fresh mozzarella, topped with basil, delivered hot and ready to eat! Price to portion is excellent. Parking, it's the city, there is none. Great staff and welcoming environment.

This location has no service - its counter-ordering and the food was not the same. The pizza had barely any ricotta though we paid up for it, and the toppings were so scarce that it was mostly crust (more than usual Neapolitan). The garlic bread was the same price but half the size. It was cafe style seating, not restaurant, and just a weak version of the South End location that I do not recommend.
