Excellent addition to Somerville's local food game! I have been here a few times and enjoyed everything I tried. The arancini were absolutely divine! They were super cheesy and soft on the inside, while maintaining a crispy crunch on the outside. Along with cheese, there was also rice and meat, maybe pancetta? Order these! The boneless chicken tenders were crispy, but not dry and had sweet and sour sauce on the side. Also, a great pick! For pizza we decided on the buffalo chicken pizza. It was outstanding! It had blue cheese, chunks of chicken, and scallions. There was no red sauce which I prefer when having a buffalo chicken pizza. Definitely interested in trying different pizzas here! I'll be honest - stakes were high! Was nervous Zaza wouldn't live up to expectations! But a neighbor suggested we check it out, so we took a chance. This place was great!!! We got the ZaZa pizza, with prosciutto, arugula, and ricotta. Sometimes white pizzas can be dry, but this was so flavorful - it was fantastic! We also got the Chicken Parm sub - I was especially impressed because they used high quality fresh buffalo mozzarella (instead of just shredded mozzarella cheese). I think next time the sub could have a bit more sauce, but I know ZaZa just opened. Can't wait to try more of the pizzas, subs, and other menu items. Thrilled there's a new great pizza spot in Magoun Square. Really nice balance - more "upscale" and using higher quality ingredients than your usual neighborhood pizza joint, but a bit easier on the wallet and easier to share than some of the more artisanal Neapolitan pizzerias in the area (due to recent inflation). Again, delicious pizza and subs. We'll definitely be adding to our regular rotation and really great for a lazy Friday night or if you have friends and family drop by and want an easy dinner. read more

Top Picks: - Salami Pizza - ZaZa Pizza (alfredo, prosciutto, arugula, mozzarella, ricotta) ZaZa's is one of my preferred pizza joints in Somerville/Medford. They make a thinner crust style pizza that I've personally come to associate with Italian style pizzas. Even among similar style pizzas, ZaZa's stands out to me because of the flavor of their crust and their individual toppings. ZaZa's pizza crust has a good bread flavor, and I'll often find myself eating their pizzas whole including the crust. I also enjoy some of their individual toppings better than at other pizza joints - their salami and prosciutto taste closer to what you'd find on a charcuterie plate than a grocery store deli. Their staff is also super friendly. I'm regrettably a little too anti-social to truly appreciate it, but I think most real/normal humans would. The reason I'm shaving down to 4 stars is because I found some of their pizzas to be just OK - BBQ Chicken, Chicken Parm and Sausage Vodka. I've also only gotten a non-pizza item once - a chicken parm sandwich - and I found that to be mediocre as well. Overall I'd easily recommend ZaZa's Pizzeria. read more

Absolutely amazing. I've now tried the buffalo chicken, bbq chicken, and I believe it was sausage and ricotta and they were all phenomenal. The dough is super flavorful, crispy but also soft. I've only gotten delivery so I can't comment on service or ambience, but as for the food it's a 10/10! read more

My girlfriend moved into the neighborhood recently and we've been trying a lot of the restaurants in the area. I'm glad I decided to stop in to ZaZa midday to try their Italian sub. It was perfection...the prosciutto, mortadella and salami were sliced thin and melted in my mouth. The bread was also fresh and soft. I got the Buffalo cauliflower for my girlfriend but I ended up eating half of it...delicious! Look for Nelson and Will in the kitchen. Super friendly guys! The "Zaza" pizza is soooo good when made "well done" i would never had ate pickled onion on my own, however they place just enough all over the top and the taste is surprisingly delicious. The ricotta is so creamy. My go to is the buffalo chicken pizza, no chicken lol. I love how they put the dressings all over the top of the pizza in a giant swirl. It gives you a taste of BC and Ranch with buffalo in EVERY bit. The steak and cheese w egg is dynamite too especially when they toast the roll just enough. read more

My husband and I went in for a casual night out and ended up getting more than what we paid for. The clientele are gregarious, the food was generous, well seasoned and cooked with love to perfection. Theyve got B- pizza I guess but I've had a few bad experiences with staff. They're nice but seem extremely disorganized. Take out is always awkward. Tonight I ordered a large pie. 20 minutes later I arrived to pick up the pie. The cashier was completely flustered and it was clear there was a big order they were making. He told me another 15 minutes. 40 minutes later he came up to me again (stood weirdly close) and told me it was "in the oven". The manager then came out to me after another 10 minutes with two boxes. They had made the pizza I ordered in a small and given me a random Buffalo chicken pizza I didn't order. The manager also stood weirdly close. An hour of my time gone and not enough food.
