Needed a dinner place last minute so decided to try this place. The front yard of the restaurant (lol) was packed but the hostess said there was no wait to sit next to the bar at a high top so we sat there. Ton of TVs and a very friendly attentive bartender- believe his name was George. What we ordered: -Beef Carpaccio: 5/5, great portion, very tender flavorful meat, and very light. -Meatballs: 2.8/5, good sized but very sweet and lackluster. -Lobster and Shrimp alla vodka: 3.5/5, great portion and generous with seafood but the vodka sauce tasted canned. -Seafood Risotto: 5/5 (per boyfriend), very generous with seafood and an incredible sweet creamy sauce -Black and white cake: 3/5, I am a cake brat and this was very meh. Beautiful presentation but lacked powerful flavor. We had high hopes for dinner here, but unfortunately the experience fell well short. Despite having a reservation, we waited longer than expected to be seated and even had to check back in just to confirm our table was being prepared. Once seated, it took quite a while to even receive water, though oddly our drinks arrived relatively quickly--the one bright spot of the evening. Honestly, those drinks were much needed given how long it took for the food to come out. Our meals took well over an hour, despite the restaurant not being particularly busy. When the food finally did arrive, it came out sporadically, with dishes served at different times rather than together. The quality was equally disappointing--the salad was warm (which should be a crime in itself), and the pasta was bland and lukewarm, as were the other dishes our family ordered. While this could have been written off as an off night, recent reviews suggest this has become a pattern. It's unfortunate to say, but this season does not seem to be their year. What made the experience even more frustrating was the lack of response from management. Staff were clearly aware of the delays, yet no one came to address the situation, offer an apology, or provide any form of compensation. There are plenty of great local spots to enjoy a nice evening out--I would strongly recommend exploring those instead. Do yourself a favor and keep driving past this place. read more

Had made brunch reservations but the place was empty on a 1:30 pm Sat afternoon. Amazing seating options awaited us as Justin, out friendly host, got us seated on their covered patio where it was a bit chilly. We got straight to ordering which included Chicken Wings ($16), Truffle Fries ($16), a few other entrees - but the winner being the Sassy Truffle Mushroom Pasta ($32) which was amazing. The local fresh mushrooms were a combination of oyster, cremini, and white button with a nice cheesy sauce. Noise levels on the lower end, and service was a little slow. We stopped here on a whim while walking from our hotel to downtown because the outdoor setup caught our attention. They had an outdoor bar, plenty of seating, and a large fire pit area, which was perfect since it was surprisingly chilly for a July night. We only came in for drinks and ordered two cosmopolitans. The bartender was really friendly and even brought them over to us at the fire pit when they were ready. The martinis were excellent, ice cold, and you could really taste the fresh lime. Service was friendly and prompt. The restaurant is right on the main road, but we sat on the patio and it still felt relaxing. We walked from downtown Ogunquit and it was sidewalked the entire way. We've been going to The Front Yard for years and have always enjoyed both the food and the service. Unfortunately, our experience last night fell far short of what we've come to expect, and after the way our concerns were handled, I'm not sure we'll be back. The bar was practically empty when we arrived, yet service was extremely slow throughout the entire meal. We ordered calamari, escargot, and bread to start. The calamari came out undercooked, so we sent it back. Less than two minutes later, the bartender brought it back and said it "should be fine." It wasn't. It was still undercooked. The bread was also strangely cut into small cubes, which made the portion seem noticeably smaller than what we've received in previous years. Our entrees took an exceptionally long time to arrive, despite the bar not being crowded. When we asked the bartender if she could check on them, she said she would, but then proceeded to make several drink orders without checking. Our appetizer plates also sat in front of us until the entrees arrived. When the plates were finally cleared, my silverware fell on the floor. No big deal, except I then had to ask three separate times for a replacement set. The third time, I asked the bartender in training, who responded incredibly rudely. She rolled her eyes and talked back to me over a simple request for silverware. It was completely unnecessary and inappropriate. Unfortunately, the food didn't make up for the service. I ordered the swordfish, which was drenched in so much butter that it overwhelmed the dish. The other two entrees at our table were okay at best and nowhere near the quality we remembered from previous visits. After we had already paid, I asked to speak with the manager because I wanted him to be aware of our experience. We weren't looking for a discount or anything for free; the bill was already settled. What was most disappointing was his response. He did not apologize, acknowledge any of the issues, or make any effort to address our concerns. Instead, he simply said, "It's a busy night." We've been coming to The Front Yard for years, including on nights that were significantly busier than this one, so that explanation didn't hold much weight. I can understand a restaurant having an off night. Food can miss the mark and service can get backed up. What I have a much harder time overlooking is rude service followed by a manager who seems completely unconcerned when a longtime customer takes the time to respectfully share their experience. If you've enjoyed The Front Yard in previous years and are thinking about coming back this season, unfortunately, I would think twice. The quality and service have gone noticeably downhill, and the response from management was the most disappointing part of the experience. read more

A bit off the beaten path from the heart of Ogunquit. The best part? They have parking ! Sat on the patio, our server was friendly. Started with apps, my octopus was very tender and delicious albeit a tad pricey for the portion $26. The mushroom pasta I found a tad bland. For the price of $31 it was a smidge disappointing. The item that will make me come back was their lemon cream cake. I could have had the app and the cake and been a happy girl. This place charges fine dining prices for a very casual atmosphere. My friend got the duck- she wasn't asked how to have it cooked. It came out well- not for me but she was fine with it. No lie, I'm not one to order the same dish over and over again, but I am going back to The Front Yard just to have the mushroom truffle pasta once more. We love Ogunquit, but it can be a tricky spot for dinners. I guess that's the price of being a postcard-perfect coastal town in Maine? So when we find a place like The Front Yard, you'll hear us raving about it for a while. We made reservations based on other reviews, and since we were doing an Ogunquit staycation, it just made sense. So glad I listened to those five-star reviewers; we absolutely loved it. We were lucky to grab a patio table (not gonna lie, I don't know if I would've loved it quite as much without the al fresco vibe), and it was the perfect summer (spring?) dinner. We ordered a bottle of Riesling -- they have an extensive wine list, with some affordable options -- and it paired perfectly with our meal. For apps, we went with the burrata and squash dish and the fried calamari. Both were good, though the burrata could've used a bit more flavor. Definitely not the best I've had, but the entrées more than made up for it. My husband's pesto pistachio pasta, topped with burrata, was excellent, and like I said... I'm still dreaming about my mushroom pasta. Our server was super attentive, even though the place was a little busy. We really appreciated that. Loved our anniversary dinner at the Front Yard. Coming to Ogunquit for 5+ years now so I was suprised that I've never stumbled upon this wonderful restaurant but I am so glad that we did! The location is beautiful, from the flowers to the string lights and the outside bar and lounge chairs to the gorgeous patio. We were early for our reservation so we grabbed a drink at the outside bar, which was a great start to the night. When we got seated, we didn't feel rushed like you sometimes do in these restaurants in touristy cities, we were able to enjoy our dinner. Started off with Beet Carpacio which was to die for!! So good!! Mussels were great too. The star of the show was the Truffle pasta for me, which was a 10/10. My husband loved his steak tips as well. The service was good too, it seemed that our server had bigger parties that took priority, but that's fine, we still had everything we needed. And the food runner girls from Bosnia, were awesome!! One of the best resturants in Ogunquit. We visited the resturant twice last week. The food is that good and a wide vaiety of choices. My favorite is the seafood chowder. It has a slight tomato cream base which gives it a totally different taste. Plus, its loaded with lobster and fish. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. Went to The Front Yard last night and it was very good. Haven't been here since the new owner took over and wish we had gone sooner. Walking in, we saw a cosmo being served at the outdoor bar and knew we had to have one of those. We sat inside at the bar and got cosmos in a large martini glass, filled to the rim and delicious. The Bartender Meg, was awesome, she had a great personality, friendly and a real pro. She took our order and brought us some focaccia bread that was warm and more dense than usual, but, still soft ...with olive oil drizzled on it. Nice. I got Lobster and Shrimp Alla Vodka (Sautéed Maine Lobster, jumbo shrimp served with pappardelle pasta in alla vodka sauce) it was excellent. Pasta nice and soft, the way I like it, with large shrimp and pieces of lobster, just a great dish. My wife got Seafood risotto alla Milanese (Fresh ME lobster meat, jumbo shrimp and scallops in Saffron Creamy risotto) it was also super tasty and savory with lots of seafood in it. Honestly, where we sat we could see everything coming out of the kitchen and it all looked amazing! My wife got a follow up drink ...white sangria that came out in a beautiful very large glass. Our innkeeper warned us that several of his guests had recently had a terrible experience at The Front Yard. The restaurant had accepted a large party of 20 at a peak time. This had significantly delayed beverage and food service to the rest of the customers since the kitchen was out straight serving this one party and could not keep up with the demand.. Drinks took 1:15 to be served. The guests had been told that they were limited at their table to a 115 minute window, and they became concerned when the food was very delayed. The staff told them they would still need to complete their dinner within 115 minutes even though the delay was not caused by any fault of their own due to delays caused by poor management in booking a large party at a peak time. My husband and I made a reservation there tonight. We arrived and checked in 30 minutes early, at 8 pm for an 830 reservation. We asked if a table became available before 8:30 if they would seat us. There were no waiting customers and several visible empty tables. The snotty and extremely rude and unprofessional hostess with long brown hair had the audacity to tell me that the empty tables were for upcoming reservations , and the best part - that I should "go sit at the (empty) bar and come back in 30 minutes and check in again"! I looked around. No waiting customers. Two tables available right in my eyeshot. I thanked her and cancelled our reservation because of her rudeness in not telling me if something came up sooner she would seat us. My innkeeper's recommendation was spot on. There are plenty of other better restaurants with outstanding service and food in this area. This hostess gets one star for rude, insulting, laziness and "an attitude" that needs to be corrected promptly by the new owners before more customers say "no thank you." My recommendation: Don't waste your time. There are so many better places and far superior service everywhere else. Let's compare this to the extremely positive experience I had at Five O'Shore Road. We walked there and arrived 40 minutes early. We checked in and apologized to the hostess and told her we would go to the bar until our reservation time of 8:45. The professional and excellent hostess told us she had a table and would be happy to seat me now if I would like. The entire experience was very positive. The food was amazing. We loved it and will tell all of our friends and our innkeeper who provides many recommendations to his customers. read more

This place was underwhelming. They advertise Mediterranean food but honestly it's just a limited menu with overprice items. We started with cocktails which were incredibly strong and not well mixed. We then ordered our entrees which took an hour and 15 minutes. Once our entrees arrived they were luke warm at best. We had an enjoyable dinner at The Front Yard. Surprisingly busy for a Sunday night, but it is high season. Be sure you have a reservation. There are a variety of different seating areas, and we had a nice table indoors (thankfully as it has been unusually hot this summer). Our waitress was very pleasant and we were off to a good start with delicious cocktails, and complementary bread service. We were a party of four, and all enjoyed our appetizers and dinners. I had the seafood risotto which was very tasty and had a generous portion of seafood. I also thought fairly priced. If I had to find fault, it was just a tad salty for my taste, but I think this is just me as I seem to be sensitive to saltiness. Pasta dishes and scallops all received positive remarks. Plates were beautifully presented. The restaurant aims for a casual environment, which they achieve but there are a few simple misses on service which detract from the experience. We had silverware cleared, but never replaced and then plates are served with no way to enjoy the food. It took quite a bit of time for silverware to be brought, and food begins to cool. Another course, food was presented but the prior course was not cleared. Again, we were all pleased with our food, service good overall and I think we would return if the opportunity presents when visiting Ogunquit. read more

We were in town on vacation. Having a 21 month old makes it very difficult to find a place to eat, especially a place that is nice. We finally decided to make last minute reservations and I am so glad we did! The food was absolutely delicious. I got the SASSY TRUFFLE MUSHROOM PASTA. It had a little spiciness to it, not too much truffle and just the right amount of flavor. I read reviews stating it was flavorless, it definitely was not! My husband had the SEAFOOD RISOTTO ALLA MILANESE and said it was his best meal in Ogunquit. My son loved the kids pizza, he ate almost all of it, which is unusual for him. I did get one of their special mixed drinks, it was a little too sweet for me. If you don't like sweet drinks, stick to wine or beer. We ate outside on the de k which is covered so you won't get rained on. The place is casual, but not fast food or bar casual. Best of all they have on site parking! I wish I had tried them sooner in our trip, I wouldn't have hesitated on going back a second time. read more

Terrible experience. I'm so disappointed... I used to like this place. Met family for dinner. Service very slow. Real problems happened when the restaurant charged us the incorrect amounts. We believed them when management insisted they would make it right and call if we have problems. Well, multiple calls back and forth and can't get it corrected. I ordered the Duck Margaret and Pistachio pasta with burrata. I loved the farro that came with the duck it was delicious!! I think it was my favorite part. I'd ordered that again if it was a side. The duck was cooked nicely and tasted fine, nothing special. The pistachio pasta smelled really good, but I didn't feel the taste was anywhere near as good. I added salt and it still needed something. It was very busy inside and outside. The hostess was very nice and said it would be a half hour and it was about that. We've loved the Front Yard for years, it always one of our favorite restaurants to hit up when we come to Ogunquit... we heard it recently changed ownership and decided to visit as usual... this visit was subpar. The watermelon feta salad I had was more arugula than watermelon or feta or even cucumber... it tasted alright, but too much filler. I added shrimp to it, which were big and tasty... but maybe get a slightly smaller size shrimp and give 4 for $15 for a more fulfilling looking plate, three in the salad looked not worth it. My sister ordered her burger medium rare and it came well done with no pink, my mom had the pistachio pesto pasta, it had a very light ok flavor with no real sign of pistachio flavor, the burrata on top was freezing compared to the hot pasta and made the dish cold once mixed in. Cocktails were good, pre-meal focaccia was ok. Our server was good, had tables both inside and out, so definitely a busy woman. We decided to not complain and eat due to the food taking 35ish minutes, we were hungry, but we will most likely find a new restaurant to visit next year unfortunately. We didn't have a rez and opted to eat inside, they sat us at a small alcove table squished into the corner, so we didn't get to enjoy any window views, sunlight or people watching. too bad to lose one of our fave places. Had such a great dinner at The Front Yard yesterday! My parents and I loved sitting out on the beautiful patio and the service was efficient and kind. I ordered the seafood risotto, which was fantastic. My parents both enjoyed their meals, the Australian lamb shanks and the pear salad with salmon. My 3 kids and I walked here from our hotel room on Thursday night, 8/14. We were very hungry! The hostess told us that we needed reservations, but not for the patio out front. It was beautiful there, so we said ok, "great we will sit out there." She reluctantly gave us a couple of menus. We waited and waited....10 min later no one came to greet us or offer any drinks...nada!!!! I told my kids that we would go to the next place...I walked up to the hostess, who was chatting with a server, and said "what happened? No one came to say hi or acknowledge us!" She snickered and had NO RESPONSE!!!! The waiter asked me where we were sitting so I pointed to outside, and he apologized, but she wouldn't even look at me! She snickered again. I seriously think we were discriminated against because we were a party with 3 kids and were not wearing fancy clothes and shoes! My wife has a severe food allergy to pepper. We were assured by the waiter that the kitchen was informed of the allergy. We were served lamb with red pepper, nearly causing an allergic reaction.
