Stopped into Angelo's for brunch as it seemed to be the only eatery opened on Christmas Day in the area. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly by the hostess and by other staff members. Our server, Nelly, gave us plenty of time to review the bountiful menu. When we asked if the chicken noodle soup was salty, she was so kind as to bring us a tiny cup for us to sample , which prompted us to order since it was well flavored, and filled with chunks of chicken. Other dishes we ordered were the BBQ wings, vegetable omelettes, and avocado burger. Our party very much enjoyed everything we ordered and they didn't skimp on the portion sizes. Even the adults couldn't finish the vegetable omelettes with home fries/fruit and toast, and had to doggy bag. The amount of avocado on the burger was outrageous; looked like they served a whole fruit's worth. And Nelly was the perfect server, coming by occasionally to check in on us, and refilling our coffee. So happy we came across this gem of a diner. read more

Staff was new and trying their best. Food was poor. I had the Chicken Basket Combo. I received 2 pieces of overpriced chicken and 2 wings instead of 4 pieces. I received 1 biscuit instead of 2. Took a picture to show the manager. He told me he would "talk to the kitchen." He did not offer another biscuit nor another FULL piece of chicken. He did give me 10% off the one meal. Avoid this place at all costs. Sadly our soup had a paper napkin in it, the cucumbers on the salad were out of date. My friend's water was quickly swapped over paired with the words 'let me quietly remove this' and gave us no explanation why the water was swapped over, as if there was something wrong with it. I have Celiac Disease and I asked the waitress for my meal to be gluten free. When ordering she didn't state the meal not being gluten free (this is something I'd expect the servers to know so they can guide you on what to order when having a allergy) when it arrived the chicken was breaded and in a sauce, which no one could tell me if this was gluten free or not. The manager did kindly not charge us, however it worried me that not even the manager nor the server knew anything about serious food allergies. We didn't eat our food and I won't be going back. read more

Some of the names of the items on this diner's menu are strange, at best, and offensive, at worst, so much so that I left after reading said menu. For a couple of examples of what I'm talking about: Firstly, there is an item with a heart-attack-themed name, and although that type of title isn't unique to this establishment, it's nevertheless disappointing to see the perpetuation of the idea that heart problems/conditions are challenges that both should be brought upon oneself for fun and can be overcome. Then, there's one that uses a racist term for describing people and things that originate from Asia, a term which wrongfully keeps alive the notion that Asian Americans and how they choose to live are mysterious luxuries begging to be exploited. Lastly, the menu in question has an item with a Twin Towers-themed name, which left me baffled when I came across it. In fact, I still don't know if it's meant to memorialize the people who lost their lives on 9/11, or something, but it mainly appears as though it's mocking that day. Aside from how I get the impression that the staff at this diner are not rude, based on my interactions with one employee who, when I went there, was a waitress and hostess, it's otherwise a wholly uncomfortable place to be in that isn't worth going to as a result. read more

Been going to this location since Hooters hosted the pay-per-view UFC fights. Angelo's Diner has great wings, burgers, the chef salad is huge and excellent. Great blue cheese. We've been happy with most of the meals/entrees we've had. Love the fish-n-chips - fries are golden and crispy. Funny how the one thing we had that we were not impressed with was ordered by someone slamming the place - chicken-in-a-basket was - meh... Reuben, cheesesteaks, and gyros are GREAT! My brother-in-law and nephew swear by their breakfast menu which you can order from all day long. One thing I will say - they close at 9PM. That doesn't mean the kitchen is open until 9: you come in at 8:40, order at 8:50, get your food by 9:10-15, finish eating around 10 and then leave (which is like most restaurants I've worked in and I HATE this sense of entitlement. I've had to stay 2+ hours after my shift ended to finish side work and get the last diners OUT). Their kitchen is cleaned by 9PM. I've walked into Angelo's at 8:15 - apologized - ordered my food on the way to the table, and was out of their parking lot (I pay cash - and tip well -to avoid the credit surcharge and help the server by not having the tip be recorded as part of their credit sales) - by 9:10. And for anyone that gets offended by the wording on the menu - stop playing professional victim and get over yourself. I'm getting really tired of virtue signaling by people who are offended by 'slurs' against people they don't even represent. AND people who say they like the food, but give a really bad review based on the last time they were in. Everyone has an off day, but I've said for years - don't mess with people's food/eating experience because they can really go off the rails (and give a really crappy review/tip) often for reasons that have nothing to do with the actual food. (that said, raw burgers and the wrong sauce are definite no-no's, but bring them up when the staff does their first bite check back, it gives them a chance to fix the problem- which IS a problem if they don't do the one bite check back...) There is a reason everyone understands the "hangry" ads on TV. Happy with the food for years and never give them a good review. Screw up once....different story. Best fish-n-chips place I've ever been to had amazing fish and the rudest waitresses, but everyone went back because the food was so good, and even if they were mega rude, the wait staff was extremely efficient. First off, I only rated this as one star because I couldn't give it anything less. That being said... we've been going to this place for years (after it closed down as a Hooters) and the food and service was very good....until last night. My friend, his niece and myself decided to go there for dinner which turned out to be a HUGE mistake. While his neice's dinner was fine, and my chicken parmesan was as well...he had ordered tortellini Alfredo but what he got was some pumpkin orange colored mess. The waitress never gave us her name (we found out later it was Debbie), seemed completely uninterested in doing her job, and never came to our table more than twice (once to take our orders and once to deliver them)...my friend managed to almost literally choke down less than half of his dinner. I tasted the tortellini and instead of Alfredo that he ordered, he got tortellini in a vodka sauce. When Debbie the Dull came to pick up the plates and drop the check my friend mentioned that he ordered Alfredo and that this was NOT Alfredo..she shrugged her shoulders and said "the tortellini comes in a vodka sauce" and my friend told her that the menu says ALFREDO...again she shrugged her shoulders, said "sorry", took the plates, dropped the check, and walked off. We're not even going to get into the pathetic attempt at chicken noodle soup which had maybe three chunks of chicken in it, noodles that looked like they came from a packet of Lipton's soup, minimal vegetables (I counted two miniscule slices of carrot, one or two tiny pieces of celery and maybe four little pieces of what I think was supposed to be onion) all in a cupful of broth. Our bill was $50 and before we left, Dimwitted Debbie came back and offered a slice of pie on the house. The apple pie was colder than the staff's hearts, just so you'll know...when we went to pay, my friend told the manager/cashier how the menu said Alfredo and he got vodka sauce...he excused himself for a second, spoke to Dumbfounded Debbie, then came back to the register and asked if she offered us a piece of pie. We said yes...and apparently a complimentary $4 slice of nearly frozen pie is more than acceptable as a substitute for accuracy. The manager said that when we come back next time, if the order isn't right then ask for him and he'll take care of it...my friend looked at him, took his receipt and said right to his face "THERE WON'T BE A NEXT TIME... WE'RE NEVER COMING BACK HERE AGAIN!" So...after almost 13 years of dining in the place, it's now "dead to us"... if you're looking for somewhere to eat in Sussex County NJ steer clear of this hole located on Route 23 in Franklin NJ right across from the Mavis Tire location... you'll be saving your stomach and wallet. read more

This place is not even worthy of one star. I can categorically say this has to be the worst diner in the country. The lunchtime we were there they had no malted milk shakes, no soda drinks due to a water line issue, and the tuna salad sandwich I had was made with stale bread, a lettuce leaf, and a questionable lump of tasteless filling that gave me food poisoning. My husband's French toast was mediocre. So, for this place I'd say that is high praise. Safe to say we'll never go here again. Don't let the bad reviews get in your way!! We always come here after our stay at grand cascades and It is one of my favorite diners ever!! Their chunky monkey pancakes are so good and they are so huge!!! Our waitress was so funny and sweet and very attentive.as we were leaving our youngest was picked up by the guy who cashed us out bc our youngest reached his arms for the guy and without a second thought he picked him up and made our little guy laugh! That was so kind and this world lacks that now a days! When giving me our change he gave me quarters so the kids could get stickers at the front! Typical diner food. Wait staff service is pretty good. However, will not be returning here to eat because the hostess is incredibly rude and acts as though they don't want your business. Stay away from this place on a holiday - they tell you there is an hour limit to sit, but they get so busy that it's not even realistic because the service is that much slower, making our party feel rushed. We walk in and there was a spanish family before us waiting. An hostess took them to their booth. We waited for over 5 minutes while she yapped with them. Finally without so much as a smile she grabbed two stained menus, grunted and we assumed to follow her. She threw the stained menus on a table and left. Meanwhile the family that was seated before us had the owner come to their table loudly talking in spanish to the point other diners were turning around to see why they we so loud. After 3 waitresses passed by us not one smiled or offered us drinks. 10 minutes later a waitress finally came past our table and began taking the couples order who came after us. After that we got up and left with no one caring that they lost a customer. Do yourself a favor and go up the street to Granny's Diner. I just noticed as I was driving by that the diner was now Angelo's. I didn't like the last diner there so I was going to give Angelo's a try. However, after reading the review that said they charge 4% if paying by credit card I decided to skip it. This new business trend of charging people extra for paying for there purchases (even my dentist does it) rubs me the wrong way. I love their breakfast's but don't get the hot open turkey sandwich. They use lunch meat turkey now.

Food and service are generally good and the spacious parking lot is excellent. The problem is that they charge an additional 3.99 percent if a debit or credit card is used to pay the bill. We all know about the Global Pandemic and its effect on businesses, however, that surcharge is the opposite way to win loyal repeat customers. Most restaurants have already raised the cost of their food due to inflation caused by the current administration. The debit or credit fee that a business pays their credit card processor is considered the cost of doing business and should not be passed on to the customer. Restaurants that make a conscious decision to pass their cost of accepting a debit or credit card on to the customer will only hurt their wait staff resulting in reduced tips and the restaurant in customers going elsewhere. read more
