Best Cuban sandwich outside of Miami, I'm guessing. The bread was sweet and delicious, the ham was good, the pickles crisp and just the right amount of cheese. Always great! I usually get the original or the Piggy. I usually will get it to go and I am long overdue. Their sides are delicious and baklava is good too. The Chow Chow makes the Original sandwich! Sadly, time has passed this restaurant by. Competition such as Subway, Quizno's, Jimmy John's and Which Wich all provide superior product for an equal or better price. This place was Antone's when I first started eating there. I started eating Antone's PoBoys when they were on Taft and then on So Main. They may have had to change the name because of some nonsense, but Angelo'z still serves up those fresh, tasty Po Boys that I've loved all these years. I went to this location during lunch time, the line was not bad. I had the Cuban, that is pictured grilled - panini style, but it was toasted? The meat portion was good, and I could only eat half of the sandwich, My guest had a turkey sandwich and inhaled it in a few bites. I am giving it only 4 3 stars because my sandwich should be as pictured, if the grill was broke just explain so my hopes aren't high. Change the photo!! read more

And the workers were nice... the man I assume was manager (or maybe owner) was very friendly. He agreed that the Piggy is better without pickles, so he is obviously smart! LOL. It been at least 2 years since I had a Green Wrapper and I missed it badly. I grew up eating this po-boy made with the incredible chow-chow. It's shame that there is not a Antone's in my area of town. I was during some chores in the Medical Center, so I had to stop by Antone's for lunch and pick up some for dinner also. I had the Cuban for lunch since I read the good review in Yelp and I picked up a Green Wrapper and Piggy for dinner. The Cuban was good but not as good as the ones I had in Cuban eateries of Houston or Florida. I think it was missing something, spices and cheese? The piggy was excellent with the jalapeno cheese and the Spam tasting pork spread ( I like Spam ). The winner was the Green Wrapper, tasting the same as 40 years ago when I had my first one at the original Antone's off Memorial Drive by downtown. The Green Wrapper had the perfect balance of ham, salami, and cheese inside that perfect po-boy roll. The sweet/sour chow chow spread was addicting. I should had brought a couple more for next day's lunch. read more

This location is where I tried falafel for the first time, and it did not disappoint! I have been here a few times since then and have tried their potato salad, deviled eggs and falafel wrap and everything is always delicious! This is one of the last original Antone's left in Houston. We live in the Energy Corridor, so it's quite a trek to go here, but it is so worth it. The food and customer service are outstanding. We ordered sandwich trays over the holidays twice: one for Xmas Eve and one for New Year's Eve. The sandwiches were fresh, and loaded with Antone's yummy chow-cow. Our guests inhaled them. So i said to myself "man I got to try them out" , So when I did I was amazed by their choices of sandwiches and how you could just pick anything you want and have it in seconds.Especially with all the Mediterranean choices and snacks ..personally to me they should call it Best Original Poboys..I advice people to go try Antones out and see for themselves what great poboys are about!
