    Turkey Sandwich
    Detra D.

I just discovered this place two days ago and the service was polite and welcoming. They served me one of the best sandwiches I've ever had in my life. I ordered the turkey sandwich on a toasted multigrain bread with onions, mayonnaise, honey, mustard ,avocado ,and tomatoes. It was fresh. It was filling and it literally hit the spot for me. My daughter ordered their black bean sandwich which is something she gets on a regular and she loves it. I only wish they had one of these locations out in the Richmond or Sugarland area because I am a fan. My only complaint is that we ordered two combos and when we got to the house ,one of the bags of baked chips was MIA. That's the only reason I didn't give them five stars.

How have I lived in Houston all this time and never been to Brown bag deli?! We went in on Presidents' Day for something late, and it was absolutely packed. It's obvious that people that work in this area come here for lunch regularly. To order, you get a brown bag and a marker and write your order out. Then you take it to the counter and pick out chips, drink, etc. The wrap I got was full of delicious fresh meat and veggies, but it was still so light. This is somewhere that I will absolutely revisit, and try something else too. I am always looking for a good wrap!

Stopped in for lunch after being curious for awhile now. Upon entering it just seems like a quiet cafe. You fill out a bag with your options then bring it to the front to check out. They were friendly and made sure ahead of time that I properly filled it out. They even made sure to say my name and wish me a happy new year. The strawberry lemonade had the perfect amount of sweetness. I tried the jalapeño cheddar bun with buffalo chicken. Neither of those were the spicy part. They use fresh jalapeños. Just figured I should warn ya. Overall I was pleasantly surprised by the side portion along with the distribution of the veggies on my sandwich. The potato salad was tasty.

I loovvee brown bag deli! They recently closed the Rice village location which is much closer to me which made me sad! But this location is just 2 miles down the road. It's newly renovated and they have a daily specials menu up on the wall. To order you walk in and fill out the brown bag on the clipboard then you make your choices. Anyway I ordered one of the specials the fiesty falafel. Omg it was absolute perfection! I also got it toasted with a side of potato salad and I mixed unsweet tea and lemonade! If you haven't been here before, get here! They are always consistently good!

Very good and filling. A lot of selections to choose from. Pricing is not transparent. But the menu is clear on what is considered an additional cost. The restaurant is very cute with quite a bit of seating available and ample parking.

I finally came to the newly built BBD on westheimer near S Shepherd and let me tell you this location disappointed me greatly! I've been here when it was the run down hole in the wall location and back then I never had any issues. The issue wasn't the service, but how my sandwich or what was in my sandwich per say. Most BBDs are know for its massive portion of meat and thin sliced bread along with whatever fixings you choose. But today I had 1 inch thick white bread and a ton of lettuce and the meat was barely visible. Needless to say yes this bummed me out cuz there's TONS of nice restaurants, bars, etc in a 2 block radius, but I chose this cuz I know how they make their sandwiches And yes it's a sandwich! Paying $15 for a sandwich is already ridiculous but we choose to pay it cuz how it normally comes. Sometimes I even order double meat just to see the mountain of meat they gonna put in my sandwich, but I didn't today and it felt like I really got the short end for sure Every bite was bread and lettuce and not gonna lie it was hard to eat. I didn't wanna bitch about it cuz they were busy and everyone knows , you don't bitch about food as long as it's not extremely terrible cuz I didn't want them to give me a new sandwich with " extra sauces " Oh well, the Rice Village location is my go to and I should've just went there.

We stopped in here for lunch and it was delicious! Both of us had turkey sandwiches on rye and multigrain. Though they did accidentally switch the bread on our sandwiches, they were still tasty. I was surprised how much meat comes on the sandwich. The place is clean and the staff is kind. I will definitely be back for another sandwich and I will have to try the cookies

First time here and I'm extremely impressed! I ordered a falafel salad with feta, lettuce, tomato and cucumbers with olive oil. I added a fruit cup, which was fresh and delicious. The staff here are so friendly and helpful. I'll be back again!! So glad my husband recommended this place.

Put tons of meat on the sandwich, their honey mustard and bacon is incredible. Big water cups too, not one of those tiny ones you can only get a sip or two out of.

Spinach wrap with roast beef, american cheese, lettuce, and tomato

Food: build your own wrap Spinach wrap, roast beef, american cheese, lettuce, tomato A thick wrap!! A generous portion of roast beef, yet not overwhelming. The wrap was not soggy too. It was nice and filling without being heavy and the roast beef was seasoned well but not too salty. It was catered, and came with choice of chips and cookie. Highly recommend for catering for events!

My new fave Montrose sandwich shop! Okay it's not new, but it has gotten a total refresh due to a building remodel. I love all of the sandwich options, but I'm currently crushing on one of the signature specialties call 'The Boss's Wife.' Wifey knows what's up! This wrap has shaved buffalo chicken, feta, lettuce, tomato, pickles, cucumber and avocado. I add Sriracha ranch for extra kick. Order online for easy pickup, but it's pleasant to dine in bc it's so bright and clean, and the music is frigging awesome - Stone Roses, Cure, Siouxsie, INXS all playing mellowly during this visit! Staff is super friendly. You could grab a cookie next door but honestly the chocolate chip cookies here are probably just as good. I only wish they were open later for my evening Brown Bag cravings!

The parking was a bit of a challenge, but it was easy enough because it was a calm Tuesday morning. To get from the parking area to the store, you just take the elevator one level down, and then you're right inside. This place is surprisingly big, filled with all kinds of snacks, cookies, and coffee. The highlight for me was their shawarma breakfast wrap. It was top-notch and exactly what I needed. You choose between whole wheat or white pita, and it's filled with scrambled eggs, your choice of fresh or sautéed spinach, and they add potatoes as well. Then they top it with shawarma chicken, tomato, and a delicious sauce. For $8.5 it was worth every bite. Hands down, a five out of five. I also tried their coffee, which was just a standard brew sitting in ice for hours and nothing special. At $2.50, it was fine, but nothing to write home about. The real stars were the cookies. I got a coconut pecan cookie and an almond crunch cookie, and both were absolutely delicious. I didn't have time to explore the whole store, but there was a great selection of fresh produce, chocolates, and all sorts of small treats. Overall, the staff were really friendly, and the entire visit was smooth. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area. Five out of five stars!

We were looking forward to trying this restaurant while staying at a hotel in Houston for medical treatments. We had it delivered to our hotel and sadly it wasn't the best experience. When we got our order to the room we were missing one side that we ordered. We got Mac n cheese, green beans and potato salad with a brisket/smoked chicken combo and a brisket/ribs. I was shocked to see two pieces of brisket and a chicken breast for $28. Maybe it was an off night but the quality just wasn't there. All the food was cold (our fault bc we ordered it for delivery) and was lacking flavor. Overall, we'd rate it like this: Brisket 3/5 Chicken 2/5 Mac n cheese 1.5/5 Green beans 3/5 Ribs 3/5 Potato salad 2/5 Maybe they were having a bad night but I wish our experience was better.

I called about 10 minutes before closing today and I had the pleasure of talking with Joseph the owner. I had no idea he was the owner, but he was so nice over the phone. I asked if it was OK if I was ordering right before they close and he was like no problem at all. Just a great nice person answering the phone. It was such a pleasure to talk with him because that type of service these days is kind of a lost Art. So when I get there, we start to talk he shook my hand, asked my name treated me like family. Very personable nice guy running this establishment. Their entire family are just top-notch professionals and they understand how to treat people the right way. This is a lost Art. Food: I went with the deluxe, which is with their special. Absolutely amazing. Fresh bread, all the flavor with their homemade aïoli sauce. The meats were real good as well. I elected for the olives, which were great. Great food I will definitely come back here and try several things off their menu. Being that I live in downtown, this is gonna be one of my go to Spots. I've lived in Houston my entire life for 43 years. I'm not sure how I've never stumbled upon this place. I talked to Joseph and he said he's been eating here for 43 years as he's 43 years of age as well. What a nice guy and a great family. They're doing an awesome job here. I can't wait to keep coming back and try more things off the menu, bringing clients there and becoming a regular. This is my first time ever eating at this establishment and Joseph made me feel like I've been going there for 20 years. Thank you, sir!

The bread was perfectly toasted, the cold cuts sliced just right and tasty and the italian spread was the perfect condiment. I'm not normally a cold deli sandwich person, but would order this sandwich over and over again. Since I was solo dining, but wanted to try more than just the sandwich on my first visit I opted for a side of spaghetti and the italian sausage. Dumped the italian sausage on my spaghetti and it was like a small side entree. The sausage was the highlight, but the spaghetti was well cooked and the traditional marinara was flavorful. While I expected the restaurant to be a little more bustling at lunch time, it was a very comfortable experience in the bright open dining area with a great deal of Houston Sports Memorabilia on the walls. I'm very glad to have visited this Houston Restaurant Icon.

I had originally wanted to come because I saw that they sold steaks for purchase you can bring home to cook. However, since it was lunchtime and we were already hungry, we decided to grab some lunch as well. We got the 3 meat combo with chicken, brisket, and ribs. It came with two sides and we chose coleslaw and chicken salad. I thought it was nice they had extra protein choices as sides. They also had a tuna salad and egg salad in addition to pasta salad, beans, potato salad and other options. The food came out quickly and the meats were all very tender. However, they just tasted salty. I had a hard time tasting any other spices/flavors which is what I'm accustomed to at other bbq places. The chicken salad was salty as well. It would've been tastier in a sandwich with some crisp greens versus just by itself. Coleslaw was average. Edible but nothing special. Husband thought it was too sweet. I do have to say the service was very friendly. The worker behind the counter gave us the impression that he really wanted to help and make us comfortable. When I found out they only sold bottled water, he offered to go to the back and grabbed us two cups of tap water, which was a nice gesture because he didn't have to. We ended up not getting any other meats because the unpackaged steaks looked dried out and sad in fridge. I wasn't sure if those were the pieces they would sell you or if they were just for display. But for $34.99/lb, I didn't want to risk them giving me the dried out looking steak. Overall, it seemed like people really like this place . The person in front of my husband said this place has the best burgers! And lots of people kept coming in and out. However, for us, this isn't our favorite.
