AAA wouldn't do the tow since it was considered a "convenience tow," so I called Angel City's Towing 2.

My auto insurance policy covers towing services and I needed to get my car towed to a mechanic, so…read moreI contacted them who contracted Angels City Towing. My insurance company said Angel City would arrive between 60 - 90 minutes.. 52 min later, I got a call from Angel City (Alex) saying that before he could dispatch a driver, he needed to collect $57 because the towing distance was over 5 miles (when I navigated myself, distance only showed 4.6 miles, but I digress). According to Alex, distance was 5.5 which warranted the $57 charge. Since it has already been an hour waiting for the tow, I gave him a credit card number, he changed me $59.57, $57 + a credit card transaction fee, and after the charge cleared he said his driver would be at my location for pick up within 20 minutes. An HOUR LATER a driver, Angel, shows up and starts hitching my car. If it weren't for my Ring, I wouldn't have even known he was there. About 20 minutes later, he finally gives me a call saying he needed my keys to finish the hitch. No apology for the delay, nothing. As far as service, it was fine. I don't know what the average time is to hitch a car but it took about 30 minutes. I rode in the tow truck because I needed to talk to the mechanic & on the ride, just to confirm my suspicion about them incorrectly charging me, I watched the odometer and the distance was in fact 4.6 miles to the point. The fun doesn't stop there! My insurance company calls me to find out how service was so I let them know about the charge and how it took a total of 2.5 hrs to finally get towed from the time of the initial call and the service agent, Pam, let's me know they should never have even charged me at all and that 100% of my towing services are covered up to 50 miles, so I called Angel City again letting them know I was improperly charged and Alex told me there's nothing he can do because my profile only shows coverage up to 5 miles. I initially wanted to give 1 star, but updated to 2 because I was able to call back and get a receipt for my charge. My insurance company is going to reimburse me, but I had to go through the trouble of fronting the bill and submitting a claim. If I am assigned this tow company again, I will request another.

This business is being confused with another company with a similar name out of Fullerton that is…read moreroutinely being dispatched by insurance companies. It's that other company (Angel City Towing vs. Angel's City Towing) that is providing the bad service and taking forever to show up and/or never showing up at all. I feel badly that there are so many negative reviews for this business that are unwarranted, so I wanted to take a few minutes to share my experience in hopes that it will help others. Similar to other reviewers, I also had the experience of waiting over 1.5-2 hours for a tow from when I placed a call to my insurance company's roadside assistance. The person I spoke to at my insurance company said the tow company they'd gotten for me would call to give me an ETA, but unfortunately I didn't get the name of the company from them before we hung up. So after I'd been waiting for over 45 minutes, I tried calling my insurance company back and had to jump through a bunch of hoops to get ahold of a live person again that could finally tell me which company had been dispatched to give me a tow. When I finally get an answer (an hour plus later) they tell me "Angel City Towing", which still has not called me with an ETA. So I do a quick google search and find Angel's City Towing (in El Monte) and assume this must be the right company (based on proximity as I'm stranded between Irwindale and Baldwin Park.) I call their number and get ahold of Mike immediately and he explains what's happening. He even comes out to meet me within 10 minutes of chatting on the phone with him. Mike and his colleague actually waited with me until the guy from Angel City Towing (in Fullerton) finally arrived because Mike is understandably frustrated and curious to see who this other company is that my insurance company (and countless others) are dispatching to their unfortunate customers who need a tow in this area. When the driver from Angel City Towing (in Fullerton) finally shows up (another 30+ minutes later) - a full two hours from when my insurance company had called on them to help, it's a young kid who couldn't care less about how long I've been waiting. He has an unmarked truck, there's no DOT information or any signage listed on the vehicle identifying them as Angel City Towing. When I asked about it, his answer is simply "I'm just the driver". After pressing him a bit more about it, he shows me a photocopy of a DMW title stating that the truck belongs to Angel City Towing out of Fullerton and says they've been in business for less than a year. I asked if he could show me a driver's license as I still didn't feel comfortable giving him my vehicle and he said he didn't have it on him. What?! There was no way I was letting him take my car, so I called my insurance company back to get verification that this was all correct and even they can't verify that this is the company they thought they had contracted. I asked if we could switch over to Mike's company (the actual Angel's City Towing I quickly found on google) and of course insurance has to go through the whole dispatch process again and sadly it didn't work out for us to give Mike the business as he had to go to another job and had already been waiting with me and helping me out for an hour as I tried to get the insurance paperwork switched over. In the end I eventually got a tow from another company my insurance company contracted that was clearly marked, DOT info, etc, but good lord what a nightmare this was due to poor due diligence of my insurance company and the dispatching company that manages all of these tow truck businesses. I feel awful that Mike's company is missing out on business because they're being confused with this other company out of Fullerton and getting all of these terrible reviews that belong to them. Mike's trucks have DOT info, he and his guys are in uniforms and his colleague even helped me with my vehicle (removing the metal & tarp debris that flew towards me on the 605 freeway and got lodged underneath my car to start this whole mess). Pulling that out of the bottom of my car was difficult but necessary so my car would be able to get on the tow truck for the company that finally towed it to my house. I'm so thankful to Mike and his team for their help. My experience with them was 100 percent positive and I absolutely would have given them the business if we hadn't had to deal with all of the insurance & dispatching mess we had to endure. I hope that other company with a similar name out of Fullerton gets kicked off the dispatching service immediately and shut down quickly for providing such terrible service so Mike's business doesn't continue to take on any more of their bad press. Attaching pictures of the company out of Fullerton in hopes that they don't waste anyone else's time and sanity.

On the night…read moreof 12.14.24 my father had passed away, after leaving my mother's home in OC we were driving back when we got a flat tire in Lynwood. This is an area we are unfamiliar with and let alone we ended up pulling into this sketchy area as it was the closest off the freeway. It was so scary and we had to abandon our vehicle due to not being able to get roadside service right away. My family and I had to leave our vehicle behind an alley and run to find a safe place to find a tow company. I called a few places and they told them our situation and they were quoting $600+ plus to tow and drive us back to the Valley. I ended up finding Hawks via Yelp and decided to give them a call. I ended up speaking with a nice individual and he quoted us half the price. They came to our rescue and had to bring a flatbed due to the type of vehicle we had. He drove us all the way from Lynwood to the Valley. After going through such a traumatic and sad incident with my Father the Owner of Hawks drove us to our house safely he was kind, compassionate, he kept my sons spirits up and made us feel at ease and just safe. He will forever be our guardian angel. Professional, honest, hard working and kind. I would highly recommend Hawks! Thank you
