As it turns out, it was safe to park there. The entrance is very welcoming, as well as the staff. Amanda was my very efficient and nice waitress. Angies Diner is the best soul food that ive had here in Charlotte. The food is awesome!!!!! Ive tried everything on the menu it is soul food at its best. Angela and her husband are very friendly people. She cooks all of the food. Its always consistent in taste and fresh. They have regular customers that come in to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner their daily. The price is great and they give you huge portions. Sure, I'll be honest, the outside looks sketchy. In fact, I wouldn't recommend anyone to go here alone after dark, especially if you are a girl. But at the same time, I'll say you definitely SHOULD go here because this is such a diamond we found in the coal! When we got here, I asked the owner what was good. He recommended the house special double cheeseburger, which my boyfriend got, and absolutely loved. I didn't see a po' boy sandwich on the menu but was in the mood for one so asked the owner and he said they could make me one. And I was glad they did. It was delicious! I can't wait to go back here and try some more stuff on their menu. Although they call themselves "Chicken King," they have seafood, beef, lamb and pork as well. Tip: Minimum purchase of $5 required for credit cards.

I am beyond appalled by my treatment at Chicken King. I placed my order at 5:28 p.m. and my call…read morelog shows I spoke with the employee for about a minute and a half. I was told the order would be ready in 30 minutes, so I arrived a few minutes early to check on it. Instead of being greeted professionally, I walked into chaos. The cashier and the cook were in a loud argument, with the cook yelling, using profanity, and physically pushing and elbowing the cashier out of the kitchen while customers watched. When I calmly explained I had called at 5:28, the cashier accused me of lying, insisted I had only called5 or 10 minutes earlier, and demanded I show my phone to prove it. She then said she couldn't even check because she didn't have her glasses. The restaurant was uncomfortably hot, there were mosquitoes, and employees were visibly sweating while handling food, which was off-putting. This used to be a spot I enjoyed visiting years ago. I kept coming back for the Greek ranch, but that experience is gone. I will not be returning, and I would urge management to take complaints seriously.
