We ordered coconut shrimp, lemongrass chicken and the pork shank. They mistakenly bagged spring rolls instead of the shrimp, so we had to make an extra trip and let the food geta little cool. No effort at an accommodation for that, which is disappointing. The pork shank was bagged in a plastic quart soup container that made it impossible to retain any crust on the shank if ever there had been any. The meat was mostly overcooked and rubbery, with no semblance of the luscious richness pork promises. Seems like it had been booked rather than braised or roasted. To add to the disappointment, the advertised vegetables consisted of two green beans, 1 shoot of brocollini (not sure why) and a few slices of carrot. The soupy broth was flavorful, though The lemongrass chicken consisted of a pounded chicken breast that had been breaded and fried until dry. Some pieces were hard to chew. That sat atop some flavorful noodles, though. The only thing we liked were the coconut shrimp. Overall, a spot we'll be sure to avoid in the future. No semblance to Cambodia cuisine. Angora Wat is a temple, a shrine. This meal was blashphemy. read more

When we walk in at 5pm on Sat, we were told they only take reservations and they don't take walk ins. So we have to order take out. They charge white rice for $6 where other places charges $2. Food is not very good and the pad Thai tastes like plain noodles. Won't come again. read more

I will start with the good. Service was absolutely great and quick. The crab Rangoon, dumplings and chicken wjngs deserve a chef's kiss! The summer roll was ok. The thai iced tea was very watered down but still decent. The 4 of us did not like the pad Thai. The noodles seemed under cooked and the flavor was very much not there. The Noodle soup did not taste like any Kathieu I have had cooked for me by my in laws or at any Cambodian restaurant we have been to. Dined at this restaurant just a couple of nights ago. The staff was attentive and friendly. We ordered an appetizer, two entries, and a fried rice. The spring roll appetizer was delicious and fresh. The entrees were flavorful but the beef in the ginger beef was very tough. Not expected since every Thai restaurant we've been to has very tender, thin sliced beef. Visiting Woodstock for our anniversary and we were craving flavorful food. Angkor Wat exceeded our expectations. The fresh crisp veggies, the noodles at just the right consistency, the full bodied flavorful broths made our mouths tingle with both heat and flavor. We had: chicken dumplings, Thai rolls (the lettuce tasted garden fresh & shrimp were firm and flavorful!), Cambodian chicken Khmer curry soup and Cambodian beef Luk Lok. Everything was full bodied on flavor and we felt so grateful we had this restaurant as an option for a take out anniversary dinner! Khmer Curry Chicken Soup was not bad. I ordered the quail appetizer which tasted worse than a Tyson chicken wing that sat on the floor for a year at a low-end Chinese takeout joint. The sirloin special was passable however it was served nearly raw. We were the first two patrons of the day. The server was slow, unfriendly, not knowledgeable about the cuisine, and the chef never came out to apologize for the mess he served. The parking lot is poorly organized and during Vermont's mud season, a mess. We waited 3 hours in Woodstock for this place to open at 4:00. We were so excited to try Cambodian food. Well it must be peeping season because the place was packed with visitors who came to see the fall colors. The women that work at the restaurant are extremely friendly and helpful but there's no real place to wait Reserve ahead during peeping season. We waited 40 minutes today for a table. The menu is fairly typical . we tried the vegetarian dumplings, they were pre-frozen and doughy, I would not recommend them & the accompanying sauce was tepid and thin. We both got noodle dishes ,mine were drunken noodles with vegetables tofu and an egg on top. The amount of vegetables in this dish was embarrassingly little ...three little crowns of broccoli and ten slivers of onion I think I counted to two slices of zucchini , tofu cubes and noodles ..,that's it for 18 bucks . Not cool. My partner got some of the same noodles with chicken and again there was almost no vegetables in the dish as the menu had promised. Also talked about kfir lime which was not at all evident in the taste. We were dissappointed on many counts. I guess you can get away with this kind of cooking out in the back country of Vermont , not to sound too snooty but honestly, the chef would really need to up his game to get respect back in the bay area. read more

When I ordered the Khmer soup the very attentive, polite and knowledgeable server said that it was normally spicy but I could get it with less spice. Having been in Cambodia decades earlier, I remembered the wonderfully aromatic and spicy dishes there and asked for the full spice version. About 10 minutes later this beautiful large bowl of steaming hot soup arrived at my table. It looked very much like what I had remembered and dug-in. I noticed that the color was quite pale compared to the reddish broth I thought it would be. I tasted about a half tablespoon of the broth expecting a spicy punch. Instead, it was very light with a hint of chicken and vegetables with little if any spice, let alone "punch." I continued to eat it putting aside the expectations of what I thought it would be and it was delicious. The chicken was fully cooked breast meat but was incredibly tender while maintaining its texture. The vegetables tasted like they were just picked and cooked only long enough to not be raw. The snap peas were crisp and sweet. Noodles were perfect. Bottom line: It was not the "big" flavors, aromas and sweat-inducing heat that I had expected. Instead, it was a delicious bowl of perfectly cooked freshness and delicacy that I will return to when I'm in the neighborhood. read more

So sad to see these negative reviews. My husband and I cannot relate!!! Some of the best, if not THE best Thai I've ever had. We both got curried noodles which were FANTASTIC. It might be because we did take out and we're running late so the noodles sat in the curry for probably 30 min before eating. I think it made it even better because the noodles soaked up all the curry - SO GOOD!!! We also got veggie spring rolls which were on the oily side, but always delicious. Who to believe..all the glowing reviews or the reviews that rake the place over the coals? Truth be told, Angor Wat falls in the middle. It's ok. Not great. Not bad. Just ok. The crispy steak was served on a bed of soft over cooked noodles. The vegetables were crisp and done properly but far too stingy an amount for my taste. My hubs and I came across this gem on our honeymoon 2 years ago as we were driving through Woodstock on a scenic drive. Being Cambodian I was super stoked to find a Cambodian restaurant in the middle of such a small town in the middle of VT! Since they were not going to be open for several more hours (only 4-9 for dinner) we drove out to Rutland to kill some time before returning. Hubs had the Crispy Cambodian Steak and raved about it being the best ever every time he had another steak and reminded me how I should have asked for the recipe before we left... Fast forward two years later we decided to road trip 280mi back for Angkor Wat over the long weekend. To his delight his steak was exactly as he remembered and Chef Chy was generous enough to share his recipe and cooking technique with me to recreate at home! I had the Spicy Khmer Curry with Tofu which reminded me of what my mom used to make. Since we made the trip special for Angkor Wat we returned the following night for our final meal... Crispy Ginger Fish and Beef Lok Lok, both amazing dishes with super fresh ingredients. Chef Chy stresses the importance of fresh never frozen ingredients in all his dishes and never stir fry's with oil... Just water! We had to order the fish the night before since he has his fish freshly delivered from Boston the morning of. Extremely friendly (family run) restaurant staff and deliciously flavorful food. Take it from a Cambodian (and don't listen to the reviewers below) the Khmer dishes are very similar to what my mom made growing up. Chef Chy had to make some small changes in ingredients to accommodate the different pallets of the locals and for what he can find locally in the middle of nowhere VT. I had it the curry Cambodian soup and asked for it extra spicy.. be fore warned if you ask for it extra spicy it'll blow your face off. We've been going back once a month since mask mandates were dropped. Thumbs up for the chef's special (spicy) and drunken noodles. We got desert for the first time. I didn't realize they made them in house. The carrot cake and mango/coconut cheesecake were great. Previously we'd go for ice cream or to the Farmers Market for desert, not anymore. While we're spoiled Boston area Asian food enthusiasts I don't think we're overly critical. Ordered a pad thai, cold beef salad and a yellow curry with duck with mango rice custard and the only dish passable was the cold beef salad. The food was just ok, and that's being a bit generous. We ordered take out after a long day of hiking - Sesame Chicken Stir Fry and Pad Thai. If you were expecting anything close to what you normally receive if you order items like this from other restaurants you will be sorely disappointed. The sesame chicken came as soup in the container, with sesame seeds thrown in. There was little flavor in the whole dish, other than the fresh vegetables. My wife got the pad thai, and she ate only a few bites of it, opting to eat are spring rolls instead. She said "it is not Pad Thai, there's no taste". Delicious!! Everything was fresh, piping hot (a lost art in restaurants these days) and nutritious! Our waitress was incredibly helpful, I'm a vegan so I can sometimes be a pain in the neck to wait on ‍ but she was patient and checked with the chef on all of my questions. BYOB is also super fun because it makes a night out more affordable, and you'll always like the wine! I got mixed vegetables with brown rice and tofu, and my husband got drunken noodles with chicken. The broth was deeply layered, almost like a Japanese ramen. The rice noodles made a skirt underneath the soup, easy to swirl out with a flick of a fork, complementary to the sweetness & tang that swam throughout the dish. Balance is key in this dish, and Chef Chy hit the mark with precision in the chops of cilantro and chives and with flair in the gorgeous rich sunset brushstroke of this dish's hue.
